Call me Law

*Has not personally seen fun items but will keep an eye out next time she leaves the house for anything other than....school*

But the hype makes me laugh.
I'm all like 'OhEmGee. Wonderland movie. Barbara, want to see it with me?'
And she's all like 'Sure! It looks like it's gonna be AWESOME!! Did you ever read the book???'
And I'm all like '...yes.....quite a few times....'
And she's all like 'oh.'
And I'm all like 'yeah, you know that Wonderland themed party that I'm decorating?'
And she's all like 'yeah....'
And I'm all like 'what did you think it was based on?'
And she's all like 'I dunno...'
And I'm all like '*facepalm*'

Ok...enough of that....

Anyway, the hype makes me laugh.
All these people that didn't give a damn about Wonderland before, or, somehow, didn't even know what it was, and all of a sudden, just because Tim Burton is directing a film with Johnny Depp in it, everyone is suddenly an "expert" on AiW.
That's where I go: "Oh yeah, what's Alice's kitten's name?"

Azure Caterpillar
Sunlight and shadows: He will be, I'm sure! XD How can Rickman be anything but awesome? Also... he's playing the Caterpillar, who is awesome anyway.

Rickman's great in just about everything I've seen him in, so I'm not worried. And the best part is: I can totally see him playing the Caterpillar with no problems. IT'S A WIN-WIN SITUATION. 8D

AND I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND THE WHOLE "I'm like this for everything thing I like/do first. Unless I tell specifically to do something, it bugs me."

Definitely, some of my friends have all of a sudden started getting all this AiW stuff and are all like, "Heeeeey, isn't this the coolest?! =DD" And I'm just like, "Yeah! So... I was totally unaware that you like or were interested in Alice whatsoever."

This one girl who I've known since, like, fifth grade keep buying all these things for herself that I have specifically stated out loud that I would rather like to have, and then she goes, "Hey, aren't these really cool?" AND NOW SHE'S LATCHED ONTO ALICE LIKE SOME PERSONALITY STEALING LEECH!!!

I know what you all mean about the fad. I started an avatar contest in the AT a little while back because I love AiW, and now there are a million contests with AiW themes. T.T

I'm assuming that part of the reason I got invited to this guild. I haven't been in a guild in a while, so I'll try to keep up with this one. ^.^ (Ah! This color doesn't work here!)

I was thinking about doing a Dormouse cosplay for my avatar. At least it would be different from all the Mad Hatters, Alices, and Cheshire Cats I've seen floating around. If people would be original, I wouldn't mind the explosion of the trend.

Though I was very disappointed in the stuff available from the Disney store. They had an Alice in Wonderland book. I picked it up and started looking at it and went WTF! WHO WROTE THIS! I looked at the author - Tim Burton REWROTE his own book. I threw it down and I think scared the sales lady.

If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense.
Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't.

O.O
Nooooooooooooooooo
Okay
-_-
I was getting annoyed at all the new "OHEMGEE I SO LOOOOOOOOVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEE ALICE!" fans who've never even HEARD of the book, but I put them in their place. I was ticked that the main focus of the trailers is Hatter, but I put that aside, too, understanding it as a business maneuver to get more people to come. Movies are a business, no matter how sacred the works it's based off of is, and I've come to accept that over the years. I've always like Burton's and Depp's works together, and I have good faith in them a a directing,/acting pair, so even though they've reimagined it, I've had some of that good faith in Alice, as well.

HOWEVER
REWRITING
such a CLASSIC is absolutely
UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

I have lost respect for Burton as of this moment.
-_-

As far as new Alice related items are concerned, I do have to say, as regrettable as it is that they've only come about, due to hype, I am gladd that they've come about period. I've always LOVED Alice and Tinker Bell 0 dunno why Tinker Bell, just cause faeries interest me, but I have. However, seeing as how Alice was kind of minor in acknowledgment and Tinker Bell's always been a huge mainstream fan base, most of the decoration stuff for my room and school stuff have been Tinker Bell just because they were more common. I am glad that now I'll be able to have Alice shirts and hopefully an Alice themed room cause there's more resources available for more reasonable prices now, I just don't like the fact that even though I've been wanting to to one for YEARS, I only finally have the chance to when a ton of other people are wanting to do the same.
T.T

And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be.
And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?

Are y'all talking about that book of the new movie?
I have that, but it's just something to add to my Alice shrine. I probably won't read it.

AND anyways, I can't go unless I clean my room, so I won't be saying much. It's almost midnight and we're planning on going at 8:30 tomorrow morning. I'll probably only get a couple hours of sleep tonight.

I'd be quite unhappy if I didn't get to see it the DAY it came out. D;
I've been waiting for this since summer last year. XD Maybe even before then.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 04, 2010 11:48 pm

Um... are you sure he rewrote it? Or is it just a prelude type thing to the movie? I can't seem to find information about it online. o.o

Anyway I'm hopefully going to watch the movie today. ^_^

I'm not particularly disturbed by the new fad. They have a tendency to die out as soon as everyone loses interest, so it's only a matter of time.

Also, when new fads rise they bring a wave of temporary "fans", who then crash into obscurity fast and leave behind only those who are truly interested in whatever it is they have attached themselves too, rather than holding a quickly fleeting passion

So, chances are the new film may very well bring in some new AiW recruits once the hype settles down. 3nodding

So i saw the movie today.
And well, I'm quite disappointed...

Maybe I'm just being a bit fussy because it's no where near the book, but whatever.

I didn't see the first 15 minutes of it, but I'm sure I didn't miss much, since when I came in she was talking about dressing properly.
Which is weird, because I had rambled on about how there is no proper way to dress a few days ago..

Anyways, I don't want to spoil anything, but if you read this, then that's exactly how the movie is.

I'm not impressed. Waited since summer last year to see it and it was not anything like I thought it would be.

BUT I say you should still go out and see it~ It's a good movie if you think of it more as something based on AIW and not Alice in Wonderland itself.

The name should not have been Alice in Wonderland, because it is not that. They don't even call it Wonderland...D;

I do not mean to offend anyone nor do I mean to turn anyone against this. This is all my opinion.

And I would gladly see this movie again.

~ Alice in Wonderland is overrated right now.
I mean, it's a classic and I've always been a fan.
The thing with the new movie is that in a few weeks, this obsession will die down and people won't care about AiW as much as we, the original fans, will.
That's just how people are.

In spite of what I said before, I will admit that the trend is now starting to really irritate me. I feel like people are trespassing into my territory!

The hype is annoying, even worse than the Nation-Wide Twilight obsession. stare
(The Nation-Wide Batman obsession was worse than this, however.)
What really bugs me is this girl in my English class recently developed an AiW obsession, and she flaunts it. I've had an obsession for years, but I didn't talk about it. Now, if I do, people think I'm immitating her. (Because several people are) She stole my obsession! And the most annoying of all: Our class did a project on banned books, where everyone chose a book that had been banned at sometime or another and did a book report on it. I was planning on doing Alice in Wonderland. But when I went to sign up for it, she already did! I am ready to kill this girl.

Pfft
Bitches like that should have their heads off
rofl
I'm sorry, but I can't stand when people do that
Next time she says s**t just be like, "Alright, tell me her cat's name."
IFFFF she so happens to get it correct, ask the white kitten's name and which book the kittens are in
Ask her random, SMALL little things most people wouldn't know
And I say, do your report on Alice anyways
You're a fan, you'd be able to *coughs* and pardon my french, here

KICK HER a**

in doing a report on it
-_-
>_>
My personal opinion.

People should stop freaking obsessing over fads, it really is quite annoying when they decide to focus on one thing for the tiniest amount of time then allow their minuscule brains to shrink again as if they were drinking from the tart cherry bottle labeled to do so. I feel the pain of all those who have to deal with the ingrates believing that they have an idea of what Alice in Wonderland is about.

As for the aforementioned re-write on Alice in Wonderland its true, the initial Alice in wonderland was much less kid friendly, more dark and true to the brothers grimm fairy tales. The Mad hatter was mad because of the general conception of his time for putting led (I think that's the element but I'm not sure) into hats to preserve them and truly was crazy because of it. They however softened it up later on for little kids so the one we know today is actually a powder puff in relation to the original. Or at least that is what I've been hearing.
