I have to say, Animated. The sound of his voice and speech is iconic, as much Soundwave as anything else. Also, despite having a vehicular mode, aspects of the walkman controls were there, and one could percieve the army of controlled bots not unlike G1s army of cassettes.
Bayformer may have had the sattelite rape action, but did not look, speak, or sound like the classic Wave. In fact, I really do not care for much of Bayformeresque ideology anywhere. The first change I heard was asking him why flames were put on Prime: and he said because he wanted em. While I respect that kind of confidence, making drastic changes just because is dangerous.
Don't get me wrong . . . Bayformers do have some successes. Lockdown remake, Brawn, Long Haul, and a few others make me smile. Still, far too many failures or mediocre versions which SatteliteWave is one.
In that vein . . . Survey

if I had to choose from soundwaves over the entire TF universe I'd of course pick G1, but if I have to choose between Animated and Bay-verse then I'd really have to pick Animated. The reasoning behind Soundwave's actions and personality really show and are more fleshed out in Animated whereas in Bay-verse we really only get a few glimpses of him and that's only when he's pretty much tentacle-raping a satellite :T

Magni Prime Bayformer ... did not ... speak ... like the classic Wave. I'll give you look and sound, but speak? Frank Welker used the same exact voice for Bay Soundwave as he did for G1, with the same speech patterns. The only reason it sounded like his Dr. Claw voice instead of Soundwave is because in the Bay film it didn't have the heavy vocoder processing it did in G1.
