There was a part of her mind, the serpent her soul was derived from, that told her that she could easily crush this girl who so dared to threaten a basilisk. The part of her that would have, had she still been under the dark influence of the virus, bit the other girl's face clear off for this insult, this betrayal and wouldn't have thought twice about it. Yet, that voice was but a small whisper in the back of her mind now, logic too central and ingrained upon her. Plus there was the added factor of her heart. Her stupid, stupid heart that told her that Lucia was still her friend even now that she was mocking her, relishing in her anguish and just inches away from snuffing her out. No, she still couldn't find the resolve to hurt her in return.
So Cordelia simply wept, feeling powerless for the first time in her relatively short life. That and the hold on her neck was so tight now that she could barely breathe let alone talk anymore. Gasping greatly, Delia reached out a shaky hand towards Lucia's face, trying desperately to lay a gentle palm against her cheek. Would she remember? Would she remember how she greeted her the first time and how they became friends? Would it remind her and stop her from doing this horrible thing?
The snake would never know as she was pushed closer to the wildfires beyond. A strange sensation overcame her as they inched little by little towards the inferno, a feeling she'd had only once before, back when she was infected. It was like every cell in her body was in overdrive, vibrating violently in excitement towards the incoming flux of heat. Cordelia felt like she would explode if there wasn't some sort of release from the uncomfortable pressure it was creating. Thus the minute that stray flame grazed her cheek, the basilisk inhaled sharply before her whole being dissolved into a cloud of smoke.

The ********?! he thought as the hand grasping Delia’s neck tightly closed suddenly into a fist as the raevan he had been starving for air and about to torch disappeared. All around him there was more dark smoke as the fire roared. The ******** happened?!
Before Brian had even a chance to try to understand what just happened, there was a sudden groaning sound and a large pop as part of the wall next to him started to crumble. Spreading Lucia’s wings he flew up above crumbling remains of the old Gambino Library, avoiding the walls as the remaining support structures gave way to the heat and flames that used them for fuel.
Lucia’s face was bright red and her breath was coming out hard both in anger and because of the black smoke rolling up from the fire that seemed to be shorter, but smokier than before. <******** c**t!” he screamed, strings of saliva flying out of her mouth to flip to sides of the kitten’s face. Hard purple eyes scanned the area looking for the flash of black hair and dark wings. Where did she go? Stupid b***h, he thought. The ******** happened? Drawing in a deep breath that made the kitten’s soft pink lungs burn from the smoke, Brian let out a ferocious roar and began slashing the smoke indiscriminately. He floated down to the fire and began slashing and stabbing the burning wood, ignoring the slight burns he was getting on Lucia’s hands.
He looked around the area again and let out another scream before using the blade to flick a piece of burning wood towards a nearby tree. Let’s start a ******** fire. Spinning around he floated Lucia’s body away from the remains of the library back in the direction he came from. ******** b***h. ******** c**t. Lucia’s eyes were narrowed as he stalked away.
