Li smiled softly. It had been, for the first time apart from his patron pride, that he'd heard a mortal say those words. "I'm sure it will return here soon enough. As soon as the land strengthens itself and a ruler is named."

"We're already far more peaceful than we were when I fled the lands as a juvenile," Aang said, carefully avoiding the subject of the ruler of the lands. It was nice to just be a member of the pride, for once. He'd never have been able to get away with it among the others... He continued walking in silence then, and only stopped when he'd made it to the spot he'd told Li Wei about, politely pointing out the patch of herbs and the spring. "Help yourself to as much as you need."

Li nodded. "Some places heal while others continue to wither. I hear tell of prides that would kill their own to appease the gods or their superiors. Slavery and..." He shook his head, just the mention of it had him looking green around the gills.

"Ah bless you." He walked towards the water and stepped into the small pool. Whisps of clouds swirled about his feet as he drifted inches above the surface. He never liked drinking from the bank, it was always too muddy.

"Thankfully, I never came near such prides in my travels," Aang replied lightly, exceedingly grateful for his adoptive mother's good judgment. He'd already survived one genocide, he didn't want to add slavery or anything of the sort to his list! "It's the least I could do."

He drank for a long while, probably longer than he should have considering Feng's strict instruction -never- to fill one's belly before running. Or anything really. But he'd come a long way, his throat was parched and his body ached for a drink.

Once his gut and throat were quenched, he turned and jumped back onto the bank. Sighing, he settled back down in the grass. He'd have a nibble later. It was uncomfortable eating around anyone else.

"So tell me about the pride here...or tribe. Clan?"

"We use the term pride, although the Arba'Sehemu welcome every species into the lands," Aang supplied helpfully, moving to sit down in front of Li Wei with a small smile. "There are four separate clans within the pride, each dedicated to a certain element. The Water Tribe, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads."

He nodded quietly. It was like En Gedi- welcome to all kinds. It was always good to hear, but not completely necessary to maintain peace. He liked the idea personally- but sometimes it created conflict.

One tribe for each natural element. He'd not met their keepers yet..."Have you met the gods of those elements yet? Received their blessings?"

"I'm sure that somewhere in history some of the leaders of the individual clans have met the lion gods of those particular elements. The way we're taught of the gods of the elements is that the gods on this earth are closer to divine guardians than truly all-powerful gods," Aang said carefully. He didn't want to insult the god before him, but nor did he want to be dishonest. "The lion gods are always to be respected, but the true elemental gods are... Insubstantial at best."

He chuckled and gave a shrug. "I suppose you could say that. I'm not sure. I've not met a lot of gods come to think of it. There's Mut- he's in charge of courage and he gives it to others. I've met....a few others." He scratched the bottom of his chin. "Royalty...he protects them. I guess he's a guardian..."

"I've only met one other god in my life. Kimbilio, who was charged with looking over Refugees. Looking back, it's rather interesting that I met him first, as I was something of a refugee at the time," Aang replied, trying not to look too relieved that he'd managed to pull that off.

"He sounds nice." He rolled over onto his side and yawned. He quietly wondered if the other gods had problems awakening their powers. If they had trouble trying to remember what they were supposed to do- what they were needed for. Their purpose. If they had others caring for them, only hoping to see them become the gods they were destined to be- only to fail.

He winced and looked out towards the landscape. "Well... I'll try to visit again. I think it's nice here."

"I'd like that," Aang said lightly, smiling at Li Wei and getting to his paws. There was a moment of silence before a thought occured to him, and he was quick to add something. "Although, if you visit in this form and run into anyone but me... Just tell them you're a friend of the Avatar and they shouldn't give you any trouble."

"The avatar?" He blinked at the unfamiliar word. "Is that like...like..." He slowly lifted his head. "....a performer?" He brightened hopefully. It was kind of sad, he'd never heard the word before. Of course, he'd been warned that each pride had different words for different ranks. It was enough to make his head spin.
PostPosted: Fri Feb 19, 2010 11:29 pm

"Nope. The Avatar is the leader of the Arba'Sehemu," Aang replied, grinning at Li Wei. He wasn't surprised that the god didn't recognize the rank right away. It wasn't exactly a common way to refer to a leader outside of this pride.

"Oh!" He perked up, ears lifting up to poke out of his strange long mane once more. How embarrassing, Royalty would have hit him in the back of the head.

He cleared his throat. "Well..maybe the god of peace will thank you..properly when he's able. How's that?"
