Ovian quivered at such close contact with the pup. Verse was sure eager to eat and Ovian..well not so much but he was here anyways. Mostly to see where he stood in the pack. He wasn't the newest one anymore though. Kayeli was new and all the rave was at the return of Menelaus, Tempest and Raiden. Thankfully for Ovian wanted the attention away from him.
But when Merrill suggested a hunt for deer he quivered again. Ovian was not fond of hunting deer. The memories flooded into his mind and he sat there not saying a word. If they would go after deer they could but he would not be part of the group to chase after the deer. No he would stay in the sidelines and only guide the deer to the certain direction they chose. The dark colored male just wasn't ready for the challenge and fear he still had not overcome.

There were still yet others who came to the gathering. Kayeli was a little overwhelmed at the numbers she saw. A smaller group might have been a little easier to transition into first and then get to know the rest. She wasn't sure if they all were introduced to her that she could keep the names and faces straight. She would try though if that were the case. Being new of course, she didn't know what was going on, or what any tensions there might be had been caused by. It was not her place to worry about that now, but she was curious as to who was who and each individuals personality. Perhaps later she could get to know a couple at a time and then decide if this was truly a place she wished to remain for always. She had a feeling that she would become attached to these wolves and this pack in time, but she was not yet one hundred percent sure, but relativly close enough.
There was a youth who came to the group, who wandered off into the shadows bumping shoulders with the young female. Then a dark wolf with what looked to her like dark brown markings and gray spots on his front legs and visage. There was also a yellow, orange and brown pup following behind him it seemed, coming over to be beside Merrill. Then there was a green wolf as well. She blinked, "Uh, hi Pekko?" She was a little confused as to why he was saying he was Merrill's mortal enemy and gazed at Merrill. Well perhaps it was some sort of game between the two as Merrill entered the conversation, after having given Verse a nuzzle.
Kayeli wasn't great at taking down deer, she could run until they were exhausted or even into a corner. She wasn't that strong, but she could run. Running was her favorite sport, and she explained this to Merrill in a quiet voice, not wanting to bring to much attention to herself from others. She wasn't used to this yet, but she was adaptable to situations, first though a couple hours or days to compose herself. She had no wish to put her foot in her mouth.

The thought of eating seemed to leave the young wolfs mind as the prospect of hunting itself entered the fray and Derecho practically bounced as he danced on his paws, already fairly sure that his mom would agree to the hunt "oh please... please please let me go Aunt Meme!" He begged her "I'll listen t everything you say1 I promise!" He calmed down enough to promise with a solemn yet hopeful look in his pale eyes.
Verse eyed the green Pekko for a few moments - mortal enemy? why wouldn't that make for a great epic poem! Merrill vs Pekko! es..he would have to work on that he supposed though well..he didn't think the green wolf was really a bad guy per-say - or at least he didn't seem to be so very bad, certainly not 'evil'. Tail wagging he pressed himself closer to Merrill as she nuzzled him closer
"Ki-Adi" she introduced herself to the shy wolf with a slight smile, somewhat glad that he hadn't insisted she leave, without Lullaby nearby Ki-Adi wasn't sure who she would choose to sit next too. She liked the other fine of course but some of them could be far too active for Ki-adi's nerves to handle.
She had to blush a little at being called beautiful - no one had really called her that since...well, she didn't want to think about that art of her life and they hadn't really meant it back then anyways "i like the others fine, they're all nice...but I'm easily stressed out" she explained, then realized that might sound a bit off so she shrugged slightly "i don't really know how to explain it I suppose"
Chivosi surveyed the quickly growing gathering and had to agree with Merrill - my how the pack had grown in such a short period of time! It did her heart good to see so many wolves - most of them former wanders like herself and Mene or those without another place to go. Sanctuary..thats what they provided here and she was proud of it.Beaming at the purple beta she gave a slight chuckle "It does seem we've had quite the turn out" She exclaimed "Go ahead if you'd like..take whomever you'd like"

Corvus kept still and quiet as the other members joined them. The pack certainly had grown since he had joined, and by the looks of it was continuing to do so as he noted the newcomer. Always nice to see a new face he thought. Eyes fell upon Verse for a few moments, he hoped the pup would behave himself now that he was in the presence of so many pack members. It hadn't been that long ago since he broke up a fight between him and Aleu. Pup's he thought as he shook him head.
Lyra moved closer into the circle when Derecho made room for her. Perhaps she was part of this pack after all, in some odd sort of way at least. Well as long as Aleu was close by she felt quite comfortable here. Her eyes roamed about all the wolves gathered and for a moment felt a bit out of place, but shrugged it off.
The idea of going on a deer hunt sounded exciting to Aleu. And while she did enjoy staying back at the dens to come up with new songs she also knew how important it was to hone ones hunting skills. Plus Derecho seemed pretty excited to go hunting, and she couldn't let him have all the fun. "If Derecho goes on the hunt then so will I." She told her mother. Then glanced at Merrill who seemed to be showing quite a bit of affection towards that pup Verse. What a horrible annoyance he was.

Closing his eyes for a few brief seconds he took deep breaths. Hopefully Merrill would not choose him for the group who pursued the weak deer. He hoped that if he even had to go, Ovian would only have to chase the deer towards that group. Yet for some reason a heart wrenching feeling made him feel that things might not turn out for the best for him.
Ovian looked at the boar too. His jaws were dripping with saliva inside, though he was careful not to drool. It looked fat and hardy, something that would easily fill his stomach.

Raiden felt his sister lean into him too and enjoyed the embrace. He knew that things would never be what they once were, but at least for now he could try to comfort her, perhaps help support her. He had no idea what his sister had really gone through after he left, but they were both broken, and perhaps they could try to mend each other as best as they could.
"Yes, he does seem to be much better. That makes me happy." He whispered back to his sister. Raiden had been worried about their father for quite some time after they had made it back to the pack. His health had been poor and there had been much worry. Though it seemed that he would be okay.
At the mention of hunt, Raiden became excited. He hadn't hunted lately and it would be a chance to use his new skills and show his brother Derecho just what he had learned. He was about to speak up when he remembered his sister at his side. No, he would not hunt today. She needed him more then he needed to compete with his brother. Such childish thoughts needed to be stashed away. At least for right now.

Merrill nodded to the alpha's response and pondered whilst Derecho danced about and whined. Certainly there was no shortage of paws to pick, but though she knew most of her fellow packmembers, as far as hunting skills were concerned some were still iffy in her mind. She would have to be picky when it came to deer, as they came in herds and with nasty horned males who so hated to be threatened - when they weren't busy loping away, that is. "Let me see . . ." She turned her green gaze about. "Corvus and Ovian, if you will? Pekko, you are invited as well if you trust your hunting skills. And . . . well, I suppose I could let Si-Son and The Minstrel tag along," she added with a little joking chuckle. "So long as they do listen and keep to the plan. Deer are a flighty race, and it isn't uncommon for a wolf to become injured by their bucking."
Or worse. But that wasn't neccesary to mention, she thought. "Any other volunteers?" She was surprised that the other half of the litter had not spoken up yet as Aleu and Derecho had.

He came in a bit short on time, lingering along the edges of the site where it would seem a gathering had occured. There was the smell of blood, a rich odor that ought to have sent him flying into the center of the pit but did not. The lands needed watching, and he had become dedicated in his efforts to uphold the safety of these wolves which meant....he had already eaten.
Enli would have come sooner but assumed they had come to the conclusion that he was not much for crowds. Then again how could they possibly know anything at all with the rarity he had become to the group. His teeth clicked together in question, disregarding the thoughts that provoked him, while his eyes darted about until they fell on the lovely Merrill.
Whatever she was doing looked to be important. As in his nature the male ducked low and kept to himself for the time being. They would be fine without him; probably better off! Although he wanted to prove something of himself to the leaders, now did not seem to be the time. All he could muster now was a nod of his head and a seat taken in a spot where all eyes could easily fall on him.

Menelaus was exhausted, still sore and slightly iffy about eating, he'd be incapable of hunting that day. That made him kinda sad and it showed as his body dropped to the ground, and his eye's stared off slightly. He wasn't good at admitting defeat.
---
Tempest nodded to Raiden, then noticed a crawl in his fur and a sudden jolt from his hind legs, he wanted to hunt, she could tell. "Raiden go." She said and mustered up the first smile she'd shown for days. She would not be the one holding back Raiden, or anyone. "Have fun, Merrill will be excited to see your skills anywho." She nodded, the smile faded, but her eye's showed she wanted him to go still.
---
Merrihk nodded, completely understanding. "I'm the same way, Ki-Adi." H said. Saying her name made her more real to him, like she wasn't actually standing there, it was just a figment of his imagination. He just couldn't believe she was there. "Well, I'll be your friend, you're more than welcome to see me whenever you'd like." He said, truly happy for the time being, he had a new friend and she made him feel strong.
---
[I'd almost forgotten Pekko XD;] Pekko was all smirks and playtime til Merrill brought up a hunt, he hadn't hunted with the pack since his leave and would love to show off his skills he'd acquired. "I'd love to come, fair Merrill." He smiled playfully to the purple wolf and sat still now, awaiting orders from her.

Corvus raised his head at Merrill's words. "Of course I will join in." He gave a slight bow of his head to Merrill and the Alpha's. He would ensure that they all stayed safe, or at least do his best to do so. He glanced at Aleu and Derecho, the boy seemed extremely excited to be going and his sister, which enthusiastic he wasn't sure if she was going because she wanted to or because Derecho was.
Aleu gave her brother a small bump. They would be going hunting with Merrill, something both of them enjoyed. And this would certainly give them an opportunity to refine their skills even more. She promised herself that she would not sing or hum or do anything else that may interrupt the hunt. Aleu would wait until they got back before she would sing. Perhaps she would sing about the hunt itself, oh that would be exciting.
Lyra leaned forward to Aleu for a moment. "Be careful out there." She whispered into her friends ear. Lyra knew the dangers of going on a hunt and didn't want anything bad to happen to Aleu, or the others for that matter, but especially her friend. She herself would stay here, though she may be part of the pack in Aleu's mind Lyra didn't think joining in on the hunt would be a good idea.

Nodding, Ovian stepped towards Merrill where the rest of the hunting group was forming. He responded, "Of course Merrill, of course."
That little p***k of fear stung but he would have to get over this fear eventually..right? This was a good start to overcome it. Just seeing some deer could help him; or hurt him. Either way, Ovian felt he had a duty to do. If Merrill required his skill then he would obey. After all, Merrill was the Beta. Orders were orders.
Looking at the rest of them, he realized he wasn't familiar with any of them except Merrill. What a shame. Perhaps Ovian hadn't met enough of them yet. He would have to do that as well. Being new wasn't easy. Being new and quiet wasn't any better either.

"Fair Merrill"? She snorted, watching another familiar figure trot forward and humble himself before the group. "Ah, Green Hare, d'almost forgotten about you. At the moment we have five wolves in the hunting party, six counting myself. A nice number to have, though you could certainly swell it to seven should you feel. Though . . ." And here she paused, once again sweeping her gaze through the leftover wolves. Of them, the only able-bodied wolf she absolutely trusted was Chivosi; the beta had yet to see Raiden or Tempest's skills, Menelaus still looked terrible despite his recovery, and to be frank neither Merrihk nor Ki-Adi looked strong enough in her eyes. So at most she was seeing perhaps three wolves capable of holding down the pack in case . . .
Not that cursed bear! no, it would certainly have more sense than to approach at this time. She quickly pushed it out of mind and resumed speaking. "Though it is up to you. If you are tired from your patrolling, then stay and keep company. Any other volunteers?" Merrill ventured one final time, looking ready to leave as it was.

Derecho let out a little yip of glee as Merrill agreed to take not only him along but Aleu as well and giving her an excited grin he lept around Lyra and nipped at Aleu's ears "We've been practicing Aunt Meme" He told Merrill with a slightly puffed out chest once he'd finished tormenting his sister. "You'll be surprised"
Verse peered at Merrill as she organized a hunt - part of him wished he could go as well, but being younger then Aleu and Derecho he doubted he'd be allowed to go and so he kept quiet, merely observing how things were planned for later.
Ki-Adi gave the wolf a warm look - it seemed the more she spoke with him the less shy and awkward he was becoming. That was nice, it was good to know she wasn't making him too uncomfortable with her presence "I think I'd like that" she told him with a nod "I don't have many friends..but we can do nice quiet relaxing things together" she told him with a hint of amusement in her voice.
chivosi nodded in agreement with Merrills choices "Excellent!" She told the beta, her eyes straying to little verse who seemed eager to go and Lyra who didn't seem quite sure of her place in this hodge podge family "Perhaps Lyra can entertain Verse while your gone?" She suggested warmly before a flash of green caught her eye "Ah Enli!' she greeted the wolf "Glad you've come to join us" She expressed cheerfully before turning her attentions to Mene who seemed rather depressed, leaning down and licked between his ears "We shall hold down the fort while you are away" She told Merrill before tugging at Mene's ear slightly in an attempt to cheer him up. She wasn't going on the hunt either, they would be staying behind together.

Corvus sat quietly while Merrill did all the organizing for the hunt. He would have offered his help in that but was still unfamiliar with all the others hunting abilities so it was best left to someone who know those details better. Though he was ready to move at Merrill's command. He hoped that one day he would see Mene in a hunt but figured it was for the best that the alpha sat out of this one.
Aleu gave her friend a smile. "Don't worry Lyra, I'll be fine. I'd be more worried about Verse now that you are stuck watching him." She whispered to the purple lynx and glanced over at the pup sitting close to Merrill. Little poem lover. She couldn't wait to get this hunt started but also knew and respected the fact that these things needed to be organized or they would fail.
Lyra cringed a bit at Aleu's words, but looked up at Chiv with confidence. "Of course, I can help look after him while the others are gone." Maybe she was part of this pack after all. Lyra eyed the pup, she knew he and Aleu had been in a fight before and could only hope that he would behave himself for her sake. She wasn't a babysitter by any means, but she would do her best to prove that she was a part of this pack after all.

With the rest of the group, Ovian felt a little out of place. He stood close to Merrill, who was the only one he knew. Ovian hadn't gotten acquainted with anyone but Chivosi, Merrill, Ki-Adi and a couple of the pups, which their names he couldn't remember. Derecho perhaps? Yes that was one but the name he couldn't match with a face. Perhaps there would have to be a day to relax and meet new people.
"So shall we go now?" he asked looking at Merrill with those expressionless eyes.
