"I appreciate that. Not many are sympathetic to us. Even less to myself, though I understand why. People are afraid of what they do not understand." Amaya told them, sighing lightly. "Still, I find some people who do not fear me and see my power as a bigger safety for themselves, so I can still survive in this world."
PostPosted: Sat Feb 20, 2010 5:28 pm

Luna smiled gently. Surviving was one thing, but enjoying was another. She had always been curious as to what the world looked like through the eyes of a magii. All those nights dreaming of having her own power, helping people with those powers, she had never even given a thought to how people would treat her for having those powers. Would they even want her help? Most would probably refuse, too proud to rely on a magii. The thought angered her, and yet she knew she couldn't change things. Powers or not, a lone person can't change the world. You need everyone's help. Everyone has to be on board to make change. That's the sad reality, and she knew it. She had known it for a long time.

Looking to Roran, she could see he though the same thing she had in response to the woman's statement. He too had a hint of sadness in his eyes, but was too considerate to speak what he thought.

Roran stood there, just looking into the woman's red eyes, his hair slapping his forehead. The wind had picked up for the moment. Feeling the cold slide into his armor, his clothes ruffled, the temperature lowering.

"You seem to be doing fine," he stated, smiling. "By the way I'm Roran. This here is Luna." Looking at his companion, he let out a soft sigh. I wonder if she enjoys our lifestyle. Wandering around, town to town, offering our services. Looking back at the stranger, he ran a hand through his golden hair, the strands parting for his fingers.

"It's nice to meet you two. My name is Amaya." She told them. She shuddered lightly as the cold wind blew at her back, though the shadows rose up to her shoulders to protect her from the elements, while she smiled shyly. Sometimes her power just manifested itself to take care of her. If she felt anything, her power would take care of her.

He didn't react to Amaya's powers, not really caring either. He was slightly surprised at her usage of them, for anyone could be watching, and it just wasn't very safe for a magii to use their powers without the populace knowing they're a magii. He didn't care though. If anyone tried anything, he'd see it as an excuse to attack, plus he was sure Amaya could handle herself too. "No reason to be shy. If you don't give a rat's a** about using your powers in public, well, we don't either."

Luna did flinch at Amaya's powers though. She just wasn't used to seeing people display their powers, whether she was okay with magii or not. She couldn't help but stare at the shadows lurking over Amaya's shoulders. A part of her stared in wonder, and a part of her stared in horror. She had been raised a human, and so she had been raised with the prejudice. She over came it, but it was still weird, seeing the magii, who look just like humans, use magical powers. Blinking furiously in an attempt to look away, she wound up just shutting her eyes tight.

Opening them after a few long moments, she was able to control her staring. "S-s-so, what kind of jobs do you take on?" She asked Amaya, trying to keep the silence from persisting, making her staring obvious.

Looking up towards the constant night sky, a rather large black wolf with piercing blue eyes stared up to the stars, picking out the other dark form that was flying nearby. There was a village not too far off, but Evian didn't dare approach, not like this at least. There were enough that thought her a big dog though, but still. She could smell there were guards, though she wasn't sure how many. She could tell there were three distinct smells closer to her, so she could only assume so much. They were on the other side of the village though, so hopefully no worries for the moment. Though, she was going to keep her guard up since two of them smelled different than the third. Maybe magii, maybe not. Some had distinctive smells that marked them magii and others didn't.

Darting into a rather thick bush, she sat down, arching her nose towards the sky. She let out a resounding howl as her fur began to sink back into her skin, the black tufts becoming a pale blonde around her head. Black faded into a partially tanned woman's body, crouched against the cold. She was glad to find the clothes she had left behind were still there, quickly changing into the tunic vest that fitted her snugly, the dark pants doing the same.

Wrapping the cloak around her shoulders, she straightened up, picking up what seemed to be a walking stick amongst the pile of her things. "I didn't think that our target would be in such a small village."

"Looks can be deceiving as you know too well." Malachi murmured as he walked up to her. He had just finished getting ready as well, adjusting the cloak on his shoulders. His distinctively gold eyes seemed to glow in the moons light, much like Evian's hair in the star light. "You aren't going to cause me issue right? You remember the last time we did a joint job it-"

"For heavens sake Mal it was one time. I'm sorry ok? No, we'll be fine. Lets go." Evian nodded to her best friend, the two of them crouching low as they darted towards the village. There was a farmers barn closest to the edge of town which they made for. Mal had already found a few loose boards toward the back that they made use of in order to sneak in. Luckily it was the man that was hiding in said barn that they were after. Quick, and easy.

"Aimo~ aimo, nedel luushe..." Naomi sang towards the stars, her hood up, red hair spilling over the front of her robes in a rather distinctive manner. The notes floated along the air, the harsh breeze bringing scents along with it. She had been traveling along one of the main roads, for the moment just following it because it wasn't like she ever had a distinctive destination in mind. She hadn't gone this way yet so she was planning on exploring.

The darkness never bothered her, it was familiar. Like an old friend in a way. Her unseeing eyes did seem to look up as she could vaguely tell there was a difference in the amount of light there was, guessing it must be the moon. "Noina miiria endel protea.." She continued the song, pausing only when she felt a vibration in the earth. She stood very still as she tilted her head, hearing a howl in the distance. Wolves? No, she didn't feel the familiar thudding in the earth. When she heard a roar that was certainly closer to her, she pulled out her whip without a sound. The dagger's tip glinted in the light, her white robes fluttering as another breeze rolled by. It brought the scent of blood with it. A bear perhaps?

Again she felt vibrations in the earth, smelling the matted fur and stained claws. She stood very still, closing her eyes as she waited and judged how close it was. With another roar the creature barreled towards her thinking her easy prey. Dumb creature.

Bringing up her arm, her whip followed the movement, then casting her arm out to the side with an added flick of her wrist. The barbs extended on her whip as it shot out into the night, wrapping around the neck of her unfortunate victim. The bear let out another angered cry as the barbs sank into it's flesh, getting cut off as the rather long tip sank into it's skull. When she felt the resounding thud she heard with hear ears, she knew the creature was dead. As her grip loosened, the barbs withdrew, following the tension in her weapon to the body.

She crouched down and pulled the knife tip from the bear with a gloved hand, wiping the blood off on the grass. As she straightened up, she coiled her whip up once more, fitting back into the clip at her waist. She resumed her singing and continued along the road, unable to really do much about the carcass she left behind.

Amaya caught Luna's flinch when her powers acted up, but she couldn't really help it and she made no acknowledgment that she had seen the woman shudder. "I mainly just escort people home. Understandably, people won't hire me for more important things, but I get by with the escorts." She sighed, trying to keep a smile on her face.

Roran nodded, it was understandable. He wasn't surprised at all that no one trusted her with anything more than an escort job. Hearing the howl, though, he turned to look at the other side of the village. "That sounded close."

"I heard it too. I'll check it out." Turning and running off, it took her a few minutes to get to the other side. Looking around, her sword was drawn already. Her eyes darted from side to side, piercing the darkness. She was deadly silent, her breathing practically stopped. Who's out here? Or what, I should say.

"You know," he said to Amaya, "If you find the right pub, you could probably get a job as a guard, if your magic is strong enough." His mouth spoke to Amaya, but his ears were listening for any cries for help from Luna.

A small form sped across the rooftops of a small town, running from the locals as they threw stones, knives, and other objects at her. "Jeeze," she hissed as she dodged another knife. "The last town to run me out used rotten tomatoes. This time around I get knives." Her foot slipped and she fell off the roof.

The villagers rushed up to her. "Thief!" "Hand over what you took!" The crowd surged in, each trying to grab her. She felt the hands tugging at her hair and clothes. "Ow! Hey, watch it!" she tried to yell out, but the voices of the villagers overpowered her own.

Finally a few of the ones closest to her pulled her up to her feet and the crowed back away. Finally... she thought as the people backed off. I really don't want to show them what I am...But I don't want to get thrown into the local prison cells.

She created a strong wind and knocked the two holding her off their feet and jumped back onto the rooftops. "Magii!" The crowd below yelled out as she ran towards the edge. She jumped over the gate and out into the open. "Ashe, you've gotten yourself into so trouble again...You can't keep getting run out of towns, you'll have no place to stay anymore," the girl said to herself as she jogged towards the woods.

"More! More!" shouted the small group of children standing around the performers legs. A young girl tossed in her doll and the performer started to juggle it along with a small ball, a wooden sword, and a top. "Enough, enough," the performer laughed as he 'stumbled' with the new item. "You don't want me dropping all this now do you?"

The children just laughed and clapped their hands. The mothers stood to one side, watching the little ones have fun. It was nice to see their children smile, even in such dark times.

The man slowed his juggling down and returned each item to it's owner. "There. That's all for now." The children moaned, wanting to see more, but the mother's came to pick them up. "Thank you, sir," one said as she handed him a small coin. The man shook his head and returned the coin. "It is no problem. I enjoy what I do."

The woman looked worried, "But how do you eat if you don't take money?" The man smiled, "I perform for food!" The woman smiled and said, "Well then, I can't bring you into my home, but I can give you what is left of today's meal." The man bowed and thanked the woman. She ran to her house and ran back with the food. The man ate the two parted.

"Well, now. What to do for lodgings..."

Evian paused as the horses looked up to their entrance, glancing to Mal, moving at his nod. The last thing they needed was the horses to scare and make a noise. Nimbly, she climbed up the ladder, seeing the target sleeping and snoring rather loudly in the bundles of hay. Moving forward very carefully, she drew her sword without a sound, her muscles falling into what they were familiar with; the feeling of the hunt. She remained crouched low, waiting till she was practically on top of the man before she lunged. Her sword came down swift and true, his head severing from his body, cutting the snoring short. Poor b*****d. Catching his head before it could roll off, she wiped her sword off in the hay and sheathed it, carefully climbing back down the ladder. The horses were getting more restless, much to Mal's discomfort.

Holding his prize out to Mal, she paused, listening in case there was someone outside. The boards were closed up so it wasn't obvious anyone had snuck in, glancing to the barn doors. s**t. I got a bad feeling about this. Looking to Mal, she nodded to him and picked up his clothes as he changed into a raven. She went back up into the rafters and hid.

Mal then started fluttering his wings, flying towards the window in the barn, breaking into the cold night air. He inwardly grimaced as he saw that one of the guards was around, realizing his appearance could cause suspicion, but he hoped it would be nothing. He let out a caw, smelling the dead body on the air. Two? He made as if to head for the other fresh kill, cawing in the hopes of drawing attention away from Evian. Things can never run smooth...

Naomi started to hear voices ahead of her, cocking her head a bit as her eyes stared ever fixedly ahead. The faint smell of bread was growing stronger, guessing there must be a village ahead of her. As she kept walking, the voices did grow stronger, allowing herself to sing more. It would be better than coming up silently and possibly causing alarm. It almost felt like there was tension in the air, but perhaps that was just her mind playing tricks on her.

Amaya smiled, shaking her head. "Oh, what a wonderful day that would be when I can get a steady job like that. It'll be the same day that we have our very first sunny day again." She laughed. "Still, one can hope. I've traveled all over this world looking for anyone who would be interested in hiring me. I get about two jobs a week, and they're only short term, never longer than twenty-four hours. And yet, I feel something off about you. Something you keep hidden. Your passion alone for the wrongful treatment of the magii is certainly a curious behavior for a human. When my power manifested itself, Luna understandably was frightened. However, it didn't seem to bother you. You somehow seemed comforted..." Amaya said softly as she looked over to Roran. "Whether you say it or not, you are not human, yet if your partner does not know, I will not tell."

The raven bursting from the barn made her jump. Catching her breath, she sheathed her sword as the two guards laughed at her. "Shut the hell up," she snapped, and they did. Good lord, that scared me. Too bad there hadn't been a wolf to eat those two buffoons. Sighing, she shook her head, turning to return to Roran, but stopped when she heard singing. Turning back around, she looked aimlessly into the darkness. Why the hell are there so many wandering mercenaries tonight? Don't people realize the dangers? Wait, that looks nothing like a mercenary! Jogging over to the woman that now came into view, she stared in misbelief as the woman kept on singing. "Excuse me? Don't you realize it's dangerous to be out at this time of year without protection? You could get attacked by a bear," she said, oblivious to what had recently happened to the woman.

Roran laughed at Amaya's accusation. He knew she was right, but he could never show it. His body temperature did rise momentarily when she said it, but he got it under control instantly. "Please, me a magii? You jest." His laughter boomed out of him, none of it fake, for no one had ever accused him before. "Sometimes I think you magii have have a different sense of humor." His laughter stopped as he looked at her, curious as to how she knew. "You shouldn't throw accusations like that at every human you find suspicious though, because not all of them are nice to magii like me. What you said could have easily been a very serious insult, and you could have been put to death."

Running a hand through his hair, he chuckled some more, shaking his head. Sniffing then, he looked to the ground, then back up. "Besides, don't you think I'd have told Luna, of all people? And how do you know I wasn't raised by magii? That's a very plausible explanation for my, what did you call it, comfort? If I had been raised with magii, I would be used to the magic, and so your wouldn't bother me. What about that?" Smirking, he let out a soft sigh. "Like I said before, I'm human. Nothing magical about me. I wish I was, though. It would be awesome." His eyes drifted off into space, as he thought about how fun it would be to use his powers openly, though to her it would seem like he was dreaming of having powers.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 21, 2010 4:52 pm

Amaya only smiled. He was obviously scared to admit it and hoped if he acted like he wasn't a magii hard enough, she would believe. "If you say so, my friend. My apologies for making such a rash conclusion." She said as she bowed lightly before reaching up to her head to let out her braids, then take her hair out of the pony tail it was in, brushing out her snow white hair with her fingers. Since it had been braided, it was wavy, and reached the top of her lower back, though she seemed more comfortable now.

"These hasty conclusions are what usually get me in so much trouble in the first place." She joked. Amaya had never been wrong in spotting a magii. After she cracked her neck, she took a seat on a nearby boulder, crossing her legs with ease as she looked over at Roran. "So how long have you and Luna been partners?" She asked, cocking her head.

Naomi paused in her singing when she was spoken too, cocking her head as she turned her head to look in the direction it had come from. Younger, female. "I already was. If you wish to do something with it's body, it's just up the path a bit farther back. I'm sure it's fur would do nicely for a coat." She answered, a hand resting on the handle to her whip, her other hand seeming to hang at her side. Her sleeves always did nicely to hiding daggers. "Who are you? What village is this?" She asked, the smell of bread much stronger now so it had to be a village or town or something.

Evian froze as she heard talking outside and below her, carefully climbing down the ladder. She peeked out a hole in the back of the barn, glad to see no one was on the street anymore. Opening the door quietly, she closed it behind her, the severed head wrapped up in a cloth. Darting into an alley, she looked up to the sky, looking for the movement against the black. Putting down the clothes, she made sure they were in the darkest shadow, glad they were still somewhat on the edge of the village.

Mal spotted her and landed, changing forms and grabbing his clothes. "Cutting it a bit close don't you think?"

"Oh hush. Take your prize and get our money. I can sorta disguise myself. I just hope no one noticed you landing and then wonder why no bird flies away again." She shot back, handing him his prize. "Take care of yourself Mal."

"You too Evian. I'll be careful, you know me." With that, he darted off into the night, making for Velburg."

Taking a deep breath, she strode out onto the street, leaving her hood down so as not to draw suspicion. She smiled softly to herself as she saw a performer doing tricks for the children in the street, herself making for the tavern. She wanted, and needed, a nice strong drink.

She was speechless. "You...um...wait...you..." Holding her tongue to keep herself from sounding too stupid, she shut her eyes tight and shook her head. "Um, this is Rollin. I'm one of the guards. My name is Luna. Who are you?" She was thoroughly confused, but it would pass.

Looking back into the darkness as she moved to the boulder, not paying much attention to her anymore. "I can see how they would get you in trouble," he said, not caring much anymore. His eyes couldn't see very far, like normal, and so he closed them briefly to see all the heat signatures. Luna was apparently talking to someone, and a woman was moving through the streets. Nothing too abnormal, he figured. Opening his eyes once more so Amaya wouldn't get suspicious, he shot her a glance when she asked the question. "Two years. We've just been traveling around, trying to find work. We've been here in Rollin for about two months. We'll probably be going up to Velburg soon before winter hits. It'll be warmer than this little village."

"It would warm up again if the sun ever came out. During my travels I have also tried to investigate the reason the sun disappeared. I haven't had much luck at all, still, it makes me feel like I'm doing something productive." Amaya murmured as she stared up at the sky. "Maybe I should just spend my time doing that instead. I know how to live off the land." She whispered to herself. "You ever wonder why the sun left?..." She asked Roran distantly, now staring at the moon.
