What the - Hey! Where was this sudden lack of faith coming from, huh? "I didn't say I wouldn't get hurt," Naiad pointed out with a mighty huff. "The last fight I got in, the guy bruised my shoulder up; but I showed him!" She could still see in her mind's eye how Urban was forced away by his mother, favoring a shoulder as well, and grinned a bit with pride at her work. Taught him a lesson, she did!
Wait, the whole point of this walk was to not think about that anymore. Oy!
Fizzle pointed out soemthing, and she craned her neck to see . . . "Oh, a red bird! Whassit called again? Cardigan or something? Guess that must mean spring's coming soon." Warm sunshine and waters, here she comes! Warmer weather would be glorious. "Aaaaand here's the river!" Naiad added as they came close to the bank, blue eyes scanning about. "Doesn't seem like anyone's here . . ."

Larka merely sighed and allowed Naiad her blissful belief that she was larger and stranger than she likely was. Now that wasn't to say she would be a force to be reckoned with when she grew up, but for now she was still young and small. She herself has always been small, even as a pup, not that it had bothered her any; being a slight wolf had it's own advantages.
Looking at up at the bird that Fizzle pointed out she blinked at it. She had never truly paid too attention to the flighty little things, though she couldn't say she didn't love they birdsong they made. It was a soothing thing to fall asleep too on a warm spring day.
"I don't know..." she said slowly, Larka knew nothing of birds. But by the way that Fizzle was looking at it, he seemed to know exactly what it was, everyone had something they were good at and they had heard him humming, he had a lovely voice. Maybe that was the little quirk that made him so special. She had never figured out what made her special, though she was sure that there was something about her that someone would think was endearing, whoever and whatever that may be.
Jerked away from the tiny red bird Larka looked over the to water, swollen with the increasing snow melt from around them and even more so from the north. The water levels were only beginning to rise and would a fair bit more before long.

Fizzle's head jerked towards Naiad's voice. River? They had a river this close by? Perhaps Fizzle should of gotten out a little more. Since there was nobody here, Fizzle crept closer to the river, dipping his paw into the icy water.
"It's really cold.." he said breathing in the fresh air that came with the currents. The adolescent looked back at Larka and Naiad and gave them a grin. "What's next?" he asked. If the patrol was this short than it didn't seem much of a patrol but rather a walk to the river and back.

"Well . . . As a border patroller, I have to stay and keep watch for a few hours," Naiad explained, as if the older wolves had no idea what such wolves did and it was her duty to be patient enough to explain it. "So I have to stick around and and stuff near the water. The fish won't save themselves most of the time, y'know. But you two, um . . . well, you don't have to stay honestly if you don't want to stay around here. There's probably other places to check out, but I like to stay by the water."
It was like a gene in her family really, this affinity with water. The only difference was that Naiad was the only pup who didn't think fishing was ethical. She was also a big fan of sun-soaking on the stones or while floating on the water, but she figured this wasn't very practical to mention right now while talking of duty and all. "Soooooo yeah. Don't feel like I'm making you stay or anything, it's really boring stuff this border watching business." And if htey left, she could talk to the fish in peace and not risk being made fun of!

Larka raised a brow at Naiad, on all over her patrols she had never sat in one place, but she could tell by the way she was acting that she was looking to be left alone. Turning back to Fizzle she gave him a slight nudge under the maw and smiled. "Alright Naiad, you watch here and we'll go down a little ways and look out there, happy hunting." she chuckled and trotted off further down the stream. Pups, how they could be so funny at times.
Once far enough of of earshot she turned to Fizzle. "I think Naiad just wants to be left alone. Most patrols you walk along the borders that are marker, look out for signs of unfriendly wolves, others trying to mark over our lands and sometimes even spot out intruders." she nodded her head. It felt weird being the one doing the explaining this way. She was used to it being the other way around. It was age she guessed, her glove-marked paws trotting delicately against the water edge. She scented the air and couldn't find anything out of place, everything looked fine as well, but there was still plenty of ground to cover.

"Oh," he said, "I see." Fizzle wasn't sure what was going on but he did sense the same thing Larka did. He waded into the river until the waters reached his fluffy chest. The young legs he possessed pushed against the current as he swam around, a grin on his face.
"Come on Larka!" Fizzle barked. The adolescent was having a favorable time in the river, even though its waters were icy cold. Today he had made friends and learned how to patrol as well as have fun! What a day what a day..what more could happen? Fizzle was happy that he finally had begun to learn the ways of the pack. He would need to know if Fizzle was to become a good member of the pack.

Happy hunting? Oh heavens no! "I don't fish!" she called to Larka as-a-matter-of-factly as the pair let her be to . . . just be further downstream. Well, close enough to being away, she supposed. The pup sighed with a shrug of her shoulders as she waded into the water, loving how cool it was against the warm day. Mmm, maybe she could sunbathe after all . . . If they weren't looking. She stood quite still, smiling as tiny silver slivers carefully made their way near her toes. "Adults are so funny, y'know?" she told them. "And teens too. I hope I don't end up like that when I'm older, all 'you can't do this, you're too young' and stuff. When I have kids, they'll know everything they need to know and more, and I'd name them after different types of fish depending on their personalities, and I'd still come visit you guys everyday and show my family to you, and . . ."
Thus went on the rantings of the little golden ball of fluff, she who thought herself two sizes too large for her own body. Hopefully this would not turn into a burden upon the Akiiki family. |~| That'll be my ending post for this rp unless you guys have somehting else in mind~ |~|

Chuckling she leaped into the water after Fizzle, seeing the fish dart away in fear around her black and blue legs. Oh the water felt so good against her hot pelt. A beautiful and she had gotten the chance to spend it with others for once rather than mainly going it on her own as she had become to so used to. She only hoped this socialization would continue between her and others.
Wolves were not solitary creatures, they were very social beings and Larka had already taken more than her share of loneliness as far as she was concerned. It was about time she spent time around others socializing, even if they were younger than her.

Fizzle laughed, his soft angelic like voice floating up to the light fluffy clouds. He was glad that he had met the two and he was glad to begin exploring. Fizzle knew he was getting old for just staying around the pack clearing. He needed to get out and begin to learn everything he could from others and even his siblings and his mother. Learning was his only key to success. He wasn't born with a great status being fatherless. The teen would have to earn that status. Every step he took was it making friends or making rounds, which he did both today, was for that goal.
