Oh, they hadn't had lunch? Well Val was a big boy he could feed himself, right? After all he hadn't always had Other who would be more than happy to prepare anything he wanted! And the same went for Miranda now too. It made her truly happy to hear Miranda ask for lunch at home, beaming with pride as she nodded her head. "Yes, of course!" She said with a huge smile. Other couldn't help it! She was just so happy! The love of her life and his daughter were in the process of moving into her house, she was having a baby and she was getting married! It was all so exciting!
Other waited patiently as Miranda reached up and touched her stomach, smiling and moving her own hands to pull her dress a little tighter so she could actually see the whole thing. "When I told the ladies I work with I was having a baby they said I have a 'bun' in the oven." She giggled at that. A bun, huh? Since they had said that Other had taken to calling the baby 'Bun'. It seemed so...impersonal to call the baby 'it' all the time, because the baby wasn't an 'it' it was their baby. Besides, calling the baby something like Bun sounded very cute! "I think I'm going to call it Bun until it's born. What do you think?" She'd do it anyway but she did want to hear what Miranda thought, and naturally the girl was free to call the baby the same thing.
When Miranda said she wanted a baby one day she blinked and blushed a little, letting go of her dress to hold Miranda's hand again with a nervous giggle as they crossed the street. "O-oh? Well I'm afraid you can't have a baby for a long while, sweetheart. You should only do that with someone you love...and when you're an adult~." A baby doll would do though, right? If she wanted a baby so much. They'd have to go to a toy store later. They could do anything they wanted~!
"So is there anything in particular you'd like? I just went grocery shopping so I should have everything." Hopefully she wouldn't want soup or fish. Erf.

Miranda let out a small happy sound and even wiggled a bit as she walked along. She loved Mami! Mami was always so nice and pretty and now they were going to be a family and that in itself was enough to make the rat-girl excited for the future. The baby was just an added bonus to the small pale girl who would have been just as content if the sibling had been adopted from somewhere else much like she was. Her smile was just as wide as Other's as she stood nearby and gently rubbed on the tummy with her small hand.
"Yah'th Bun! Bunny-Bun-Bun!" Miranda cooed at the tummy but she stopped cooing as a thought came to her. Pink eyes stared up at Other with a seriousness that was almost comical for such a young chubby face, "You'th not an oven Mami!" She stared at the stomach then thoughtfully her ears flicking a bit, "Aaaaaand Papi th'aid that the baby i'th on lay-a-way'th. Th'o I can not ha'th a baby until I am old 'nough and can pay the time ha'th baby with th'omeone I love!" Of course she knew she was not old enough to have a baby you had to at least be like seven years old to have a baby! Miranda knew she was certainly not seven years old!
"Grilled chee'th th'ammi'th!" she said happily as she stared up at Other, "aaaand Th'hrawberry-kiwi jui'th!"

Other laughed with pure delight at Miranda's excitement over the nickname. Then Bun was a good name! She liked it too! Wait, what? Other blinked and tilted her head when she was told she wasn't an oven, laughing again and shaking her head. "It's just a--wh-what?" Val said what? She looked baffled by Miranda's words, a little unsure how to deal with them. He'd said their baby was on lay-a-way? She was happy Miranda had it all thought out and knew to only do it with someone she loved...but...what?! Other's parents had just told her outright! Babies were made when a man and a woman had...intercourse. She'd known that since she was six! Not fair...but she was Val's daughter; guess not all parents gave the whole truth about 'where babies come from'.
Grilled cheese would do. The juice though, did she have that? Other held Miranda's hand as they walked and stared up at the sky. Strawberry kiwi. "I'm...not sure I have that kind..." Oh no! Other pressed her fingers to her lips, frowning. That wouldn't do! She had no idea Miranda liked that kind of juice! "We can stop on the way and get some if you like." Because this was her day to spoil Miranda rotten! She wanted to have everything perfect. Even the juice.

Miranda blinked up at Other for a moment as if confused by the woman's reaction. Didn't Mami realize that is what happened? Was she asleep at the time? The rat-girl shrugged, "I'th what Papi th'aid. He th'aid you went to the th'tore and had baby put in your belly and it wa'th on lay-a-way'th til you two pay for the baby wi' time. Take'th 'bout nine month'th." At least Valeri told her a little of the truth though it could be hoped that he would correct it when the time came to do so as she got older or at least that Other could help enlighten her a bit but otherwise Miranda was very happy with her knowledge.
The rat-girl seemed thoughtful at the offer. Did she REALLY want that particular juice enough to warrant stopping by before they got home? Her small hand reached up and tugged at her chin before she nodded, "Ye'th plea'th'e! I'd like that very much, Mami!" sure she asked for things or wanted things but at least she was polite about it. She beamed a large smile up at Other as she waited for the woman to continue their passage onward.

They...they went to the store and...they did what? Other was somewhat dumbstruck by this news, putting a hand on her belly and rubbing at it. She couldn't fault him for the story, he obviously just wanted to be...delicate about it, but it still made her puff her cheeks a little and pout. She'd been told directly. Sigh. "I-I see." Other chuckled, reaching into her purse with the hand that had been rubbing her stomach and discreetly digging out her phone. It was an interesting concept to say the least? But it would've been nice to have some warning. So she sent him a quick little text while Miranda was busy debating whether or not her juice was worth taking a detour for.
We got our baby on lay-a-way from a store? :/
The phone was put away quickly as Miranda gave her answer, smiling brightly down at the girl and squeezing her hand. She didn't need to worry about asking for things! Other was more than happy to provide her with anything she could possibly want, today especially. "Alright~! Then we need to goooooo this waaaaay~." Other sang as she guided Miranda in a different direction from home, their hands swinging a little as they walked. She liked this, walking hand-in-hand with a girl who called her Mami. So...that meant she could call Miranda her daughter, right? She was Val's but it'd be nice if she could...she'd have to ask, she didn't want to overstep any strange boundaries or break any rules she didn't know about for this kind of thing.
"So is there anything in particular you'd like to do today?" She asked as they walked. She'd do anything today that was fun! But Other would be the first to admit she'd never dealt with a child all by herself though. Had to learn sometime, eh?

Miranda was happy and content with what her Papi told her and didn't really think to question it, not even how Other was reacting made her think to question it. Perhaps it was for the best at the moment or it would bring some interesting discussions about later as she got older, obviously Valeri didn't think that far ahead except now he had to deal with the text that came in just as he was about to step out the door himself after he paused his packing and sorting things away.
Valeri bit down on his lower lip for a moment before he responded with, I panicked and I'm not ready for her to know the ... technicalities yet. Sorry. Love you. then put away his phone and stepped out the door.
Miranda made a happy sound as she walked with her Mami and they went to the store together and picked up the juice, "Mmn! I wanna go for walkie'th! Annnn' I wanna go see ani-mul'th, but they'th prolly not out cau'th'e it i'th cold...You have th'tory book'th? I wan' Mami to read'th to me!"
For the most part the rat-girl was of the in-and-out mentality. This going to the store business for juice was boring and she just wanted to get it over with so they could go home and eat lunch and then do something else that was fun! So they didn't linger long in the store once the juice was acquired and soon found themselves over at Other's house.

Her phone vibrated in her purse and she checked it, sighing and shaking her head with a little smile. He panicked, huh? It just would've been nice to have some warning. But what was done was done. It wasn't as if Other was going to burst Miranda's bubble or anything, that would be cruel and she'd probably get Val mad at her. She giggled and nodded down at Miranda as she put her phone away, giving her hand a little squeeze. "I have lots of books. And games. Annnnd movies, and you can pick out your room for when we get around to unpacking." Other hummed. "I think I have things to bake with too if you'd like to make cookies or something!" That sounded fun! She'd never cooked or baked with a child before! Maybe she could even teach Miranda a few things.
The juice was bought, she even grabbed a few other quick things on their way out, and then made their way to Other's house. Once they were there she let go of Miranda only to get her house key, blinking and pausing a moment when her hand grabbed something else. Oh! That was right! She wanted to give Miranda something today. Smiling warmly, Other turned to Miranda without opening the door, holding something in her hand without showing her just yet. "Oh, Miranda! I have a gift for you...it's not much, but I hope you'll like it." She reached down to take Miranda's hand and turn it palm up, gently placing a pink house key with a red strawberry pattern. "This is for you! It opens the front and the back doors~!" They both had a deadbolt but Other only locked that one when she went to bed or if she was going to be out longer than just a couple hours, so this time around Miranda would be able to open the door with just the one key if she wanted to try it. "Would you be so kind as to let us in, Miranda?"

Blissfully unaware Miranda didn't seem bothered by Other's behavior or even appeared to notice it. She was happy she was with her second favorite person in the world after rescuing her from the clutches of her first favorite person in the world who was currently in trouble with her and was being 'punished'. Miranda listened to Other and squeezed the hand back as best as she could but since her hand was much smaller it was more like a wiggle of fingertips against the palm and edges of Other's hand. "Bake cookie'th! I wanna do that! An' play the game'th! An' watch the movie'th!"
Of course going out and about for a bit was also in the cards but for now they went to and grabbed some small items and then went home for lunch. By now Miranda felt quite hungry and her stomach uttered a low soft rumble which made the small girl giggle a bit as she rubbed her stomach. She stared up at Other when it was announced she had a surprise for her. Miranda's lips parted in a small 'o' shape as she watched the house key getting placed in the palm of her hand and what soon followed was a high pitched, but very happy squeal as she anxiously moved away and fumbled with the key to try and unlock the door. She had to stand a bit on her tippy toes to reach but she managed.
It took several tries but she got it eventually and she pushed the door open victorious, "YAH!"

The squeal was both expected and surprising; she had hoped Miranda would be pleased by her gift, so she was prepared for a reaction...or so she thought. Other jumped a little, giggling at the girl's excitement. She watched Miranda try to figure out the door's lock, tempted to help and even reaching down at one point when it looked like she was having trouble reaching. But what did she get? A protest and a gentle push to her hand. Other blinked and just laid her hands on her stomach, watching the girl with an amused smile. Haha, Other had asked her to open the door for them. And if she didn't figure it out now she never would! She made a mental note to remember to get a tiny stool of some kind so the tiny girl could reach the doorknob no problem. She could do that much, right?
"Yay~! You're such a big girl, Miranda!" Other praised her, leaning down to press an appreciative kiss against the rat-girl's temple and giving her a hug. She gently guided Miranda into the house before her, not wanting to leave her outside by herself for even a second. Once they were inside Other helped her get off her coat, hanging it up and then taking off her own coat as well. Other then took her bag and put it on the nearby sofa. Alright, now to cook that grilled cheese for Miranda! "Would you like to come in the kitchen with me or would you like to watch some television while you wait?" She asked cheerfully, waiting for an answer before she made her way into the kitchen. Other got everything she needed, humming cheerfully as she prepared and cooked as many sandwiches as Miranda wanted...and then two for herself as well. She cut Miranda's sandwich in half for her, setting it down on the table and sitting beside Miranda. The two ate, chattering about this and that and things they were going to do. Other even tried the strawberry-kiwi juice! It wasn't bad!
"So...Miranda? How do you feel about me marrying Papi?" She figured it would be best to hear it straight from the girl herself. Val had said she would be excited but she still wanted to be sure. Things were more complicated when children were involved, right?

She let out a happy sound when she was praised and got kisses. She loved affection more than anything in the world and she got plenty of it from Mami and Papi! So she couldn't complain, now she was going to get a sibling to also love her and for them to be loved by her she was so excited words couldn't even express! Miranda let her coat and things get taken and she then followed along behind Mami with a small, "I help'th you!" in an excited voice. Soon she was doing whatever task Other set her to help out and the meal was complete. She had only wanted one and was happy that it was cut in half! Made it easier to hold and observe the cheese as it gooped about which seemed to amuse the rat-girl more than eating it.
She nommed her sandwich and chattered back at Other. The rat-girl had paused mid-sip of her juice when the question was put to her. How did she feel about her Papi and Mami marrying? She set her glass down and seemed to actually take careful consideration about this trying to look thoughtful and serious which didn't seem to suit her at all and made it seem comical.
Miranda hummed and wiggled before she decided to nom on her grilled cheese for a bit instead as if that would help the thought process before she said, "Very, very, very, very, very, very, very happy'th! It'th the be'th't thing ever'th to happen!" She said cheerfully with an ecstatic little squeal before she began to eat her sandwich with a bit more zeal now that the answer was out. Soon it was gone except for small bits and parts.
"I'm full'th. I th'orry I cannot eat'th it all~," She pouted a bit looking at the bits mournfully. Wasting food was bad! Many cartoons said so.

The time it took Miranda to answer actually worried her a bit. Was...was she just being cute and funny or was it really something she had to think about? She was very anxious suddenly. But why? Oh...wait...that face didn't look serious at all! How silly of her. Other giggled when Miranda began to tell her just how happy she was that they were getting married, leaning over to kiss her temple with a tiny giggle. She was so happy to hear that! "I'm glad~! And now I'll get to really be your mami and not just when I come over!" And she wouldn't have to be sent away to her aunt's anymore. Other felt awful about that, only asking for Val time and time again. It wasn't that she didn't love Miranda, because she did love and adore Miranda! Just...some things would be a bad idea for her to be there for. Meeting Sally? Very bad. A potentially relationship ending conversation that ended in...er...well, this baby in her belly? Very bad idea. Then there was the date with Val, and the night he proposed to her. The date was just something for them since they hadn't been with other since they'd...been with each other, and both that and the dinner with him the night he proposed had been his idea.
Yes, they were definitely not good events for a child as young as Miranda to be around for.
"I can't wait for you two to be finished moving in and settled. Now that I'm so used to you two it's too quiet without you around!" Other giggled, not sounding sad at all. She wasn't sad! She was merely stating fact, like whenever she told Val anything about her childhood. Her very depressing childhood. And yet she always spoke of it very cheerfully. Other's...a special girl? But suddenly Miranda was apologizing and pouting, blinking and looking down at what was left of her sandwich. Other still had half of her second one left, but she could fit some more... "That's nothing to be sorry for, sweetheart." She told her gently, smiling that same warm smile she always had. Aww, well at least she knew that Miranda wouldn't just waste food without regret. "I can finish it for you. If you're full you shouldn't try forcing it down just for the sake of finishing the food. You'll only make yourself sick." Other spoke as if this was something she'd experienced. Why? Because she was.
Other finished her sandwich and gingerly reached over to pick up the pieces that Miranda couldn't finish, eating then without any issue. It was actually a big thing coming from Other; she didn't normally share drinks or food that had been eaten by other people, but she didn't have any problem sharing food or drink with Val, and apparently no issue with Miranda either. When those were finished she brushed her hands together, wiping her mouth with a napkin and smiling at Miranda. "What would you like to do next, Miranda? Play a game before we try and do some baking?" She was up for anything Miranda wanted to do in the house or even outside the house.

Miranda tilted her head at Other's words. They made no sense to the small girl as she wiggled a bit in place and shook her head, "Uh-uh! Mami i'th alway'th my Mami no matter where th'he i'th!" The rat-girl corrected quite seriously. Mami was Mami no matter who she was with or even where. There was nothing that the woman could do to make Miranda think otherwise. Even if Valeri tried to correct her on it Miranda wouldn't listen not where Other was concerned. The rat-girl was convinced that the young woman was probably among the best people ever if not THE best person ever.
Hopefully Other isn't afraid of heights because she seems to be on a rather high pedestal.
Miranda relaxed and smiled as Other told her that it was alright that she didn't eat everything. That's good! Food shouldn't be wasted or so the little girl believed. Even if she didn't like the food herself she felt that it should go to someone that wanted it no matter what. It was rather 'adult' thinking for such a young mind but it was a good mindset. She nodded sagely at Other's words, "Okie'th Mami. I 'member!" she promised cheerfully and let Other finish eating and just sat there quietly drinking the rest of her juice. This was rather tasty!
The rat-girl swayed side to side as she thought about it. Hmm! Playing a game sounded like fun! Miranda nodded excitedly as she wiggled a bit in place before she seemed to have a thought, "Maybe'th we can'th th'hare what we bake! Like with Mami'th work plac'th!"

At Miranda's words Other blinked, looking rather shocked. That hadn't been quite what she meant but...really? Miranda really felt that way about Other? Wow! She...she was speechless! It was just so sweet! She wore the biggest smile on her face as she reached over to gently pull Miranda into a tight hug, burying her face into the tiny rat-girl's hair with a delighted giggle; this little girl was quite possibly the most adorable little girl she had ever met! Other pet Miranda's hair for a few quiet moments, just reveling in the moment of 'This is my daughter' that seemed to strike her quite suddenly. She was Val's daughter but...she could call Miranda her daughter too, right? She was marrying the girl's Papi, after all. And she was so insistent on calling Other her Mami anyway it was only right that she consider this girl her daughter, right? That...that wasn't overstepping her bounds, was it? What were her bounds? Were there any for this kind of situation? Other's parents had at least lived together with her and she really was their daughter, so she couldn't go off her own personal experiences. There were no custody issues among them. Eventually she pressed a sweet kiss to the top of Miranda's head and sat up again, wiping at her eyes with another giggle. Ugh! She was so emotional! So silly to get teary-eyed over something as simple as what Miranda had just said to her. Other couldn't even blame this on the coming baby, she was pretty sure her response would be the same even without the baby messing with her hormones and her body. "I just meant that now I can actually do things a Mami should do all the time. Like feed you and take care of you with your Papi." Other told her gently, still smiling. Miranda was so sweet, she hoped she never changed.
At Miranda's promise to remember her advice Other felt another swell of pride, playfully tweaking one of Miranda's cute little rat ears before getting up from the table to collect their plates. "That's my girl. Don't ever feel obligated to finish something I make for you, alright? I won't be offended or upset that you can't eat all of something, or that you just don't like it. I'd rather you be honest and comfortable~." Other chirped, walking away only to put the dishes in the sink. She normally would wash them right away but she didn't want to take away from her time with Miranda! The dishes could be...they...they could be washed tomorrow. W-wow, that was a lot harder to make herself do than she thought.
When Miranda made her suggestion Other hummed thoughtfully, walking back to Miranda to help her off her chair, give her more juice if she wanted it, and lead her to the living room. She trusted Miranda wouldn't spill it, she was a good girl. "That sounds like a good idea! I'm sure my boss would love to try them, and we could even use one of the recipes from the cafe." Other mused as she left Miranda to open a nearby closet, standing on her tiptoes to reach a few boxes on a shelf above her head. Balancing them carefully in her arms she returned to Miranda and slowly sat down on the floor, putting the boxes on the floor and then resting a hand on her stomach. This was going to be impossible to do soon. Heh.
"Hmmm...did you know that's where I met Papi, Miranda?" Other asked with a giggle, thinking back on that very interesting memory.

Naturally Miranda returned the hug though she was briefly confused (and concerned) about the sudden show of emotion on Mami's person. She let out a small happy keen at the kisses and affection that she was being shown. Despite it all she felt she had something very good and it made Mami just act a little funny that was all. It was okay, really! She tilted her head and uttered a soft, "Oooh~," in understanding.
She uttered a small giggle at having her ear tweaked, it was not something she minded from close friends and family members of course but if a total stranger would do such a thing she'd probably be a bit disconcerted about the whole thing entirely. Miranda nodded as she moved to wiggle out of her chair and then follow after Other like a little duckling with a tail and rat ears. She beamed cheerfully, "Yi'th! Funfun!" she agreed cheerfully.
The small girl paused as she ran through her memory before she shook her head, "No! Papi not tell'th me yet," she reached up and twirled a bit of her hair in her fingertips. Valeri obviously hadn't had the chance to tell her or Miranda hadn't asked yet. Either way beamed at her Mami, "You met Papi at work play'th?"

Other occasionally glanced back at Miranda as she followed her around like a little duckling, giggling. So adorable! She leaned over to rest against the couch, smiling at Miranda and affectionately pulling the girl closer before she opened the first game box. It was Candyland, one of her personal favorites. What? There was no rule that said an adult couldn't love Candyland...right? Of course not! Geeze. That'd just be so silly. Besides, she had a little girl to entertain! She was setting about setting up the pieces, putting aside a green player piece for herself and whatever color Miranda ended up picking for her, when Miranda told her Val had never told her. Oh? Well! She'd be more than happy to tell her about it if Miranda was curious!
"Mhm! At mine. It was a year ago, he came in while I was working and I just happened to be his waitress." Other smiled fondly at the memory. Yes, she had been very uncomfortable in what she had been wearing. Yes, he had made her very nervous. Yes, he had spanked her...but...honestly? She probably wouldn't change a thing about how they met. Didn't mean she was going to give those particular details to little Miranda, however. Little girls didn't need to know their daddy spanked their mommy while she was working and wearing a bustier dressed as Mrs. Claus when they first met...eh heh. "He was very sweet to me." In a roundabout way. "My coworkers kind of forced me to sit and chat with him despite having work to do. He liked calling me pretty," He still did, really...though now he called her beautiful instead of just pretty. Other blushed a little and rest her hand on her stomach again, turning her smile down to it. He called her beautiful even when she was starting to get all fat and pudgy, would he still say it further along when she really started to show? "He asked me on a date after I finished working...and before he left he gave me my first kiss." More like he took her first kiss, but again it was something Miranda didn't need to know. "And now here we are~. The girls at work still like to tease me about it sometimes, I'd be happy to take you there after we do some baking!" Since Miranda had suggested they share their creations with her work, she didn't mind going on her day off. And for once she wouldn't offer to help out! Miranda was her priority today. No working. Nope. None. It was...strangely easier than it used to be to say no to working when she didn't need to.
