"Yes, I find it quite enjoyable." Imai agreed with a nod. "I believe Normandy is the dragon that replaced my son and he's got a rather extensive library that they brought parts of here. Would you like to go see it?" the older dragon suggested.

"Oh, yes please!" Layla said.
"But not yet," Marcus said. "We need to get her past picture books first."
"They don't got pictures! Well... many," Layla told him, pouting. "They're mostly words!"
"But the books a dragon has are only words," Marcus told her. "Remember, she's still just a little thing, after all. She's learning fast, but she's only a few months old. Just like with flying, she's going to have to learn how to walk, first."

" You've obviously never met Normandy then if you think all he has are tomes of nothing but musty words." Imai laughed, patting Layla's head with her front claws. "He features many beautifully illustrated older books you might like. He IS a time dragon after all."

Layla nodded, then glanced over at her father, stopping as she saw the look on his face. "Um," she said, "I don't think we should meet him just yet," she said as politely as she could. "Dad might get ideas," she added in a whisper.
"Never met a time dragon before," Marcus said, unknowingly reinforcing Layla's decision.
"We should get going, now," Layla said. "But I'd like to see you again, Grandmama! When I can!"

"Sure sweetheart. Just call the labs before you come and I'll make sure to be present." the older dragoness assured her.
"Anyway, you can pop in to say hello to Normandy on your way out. It's not like your father would be able to harm him." she laughed, patting the girl once more before going back to her tea. "Goodbye, dearie."

"But it's best for both of them if he doesn't try," Layla whispered, waving and hauling her father out of the cave. "Bye bye Grandmama!" she added before disappearing out of sight.
