He loved how Jada's face transformed before asking him to escort her to the cafe. There was always this look females got when they wanted something. For guys it was always pretty obvious if they wanted something- but girls were much sneakier and better at holding themselves together for these particular moments in life. Unfortunately for Jada Cassius had seen this look before so he was not surprised that she asked him to continue hanging out with her. Considering how strangely they met and how much Jada had been through thus far, Cassius was sort of surprised she wanted to remain around him! He wanted to give her some credit for being so daring.
But then again, he was pleased. Hanging out with pretty girls was what he always sought out to do. He'd also be happy to tell Jada as much as she wanted about the school he so rarely attended. "As long as you allow me to treat, I'd love to join you." When it came to spending time with females, Cassius was notorious for always paying for everything. It was just another way for him to feel powerful and better then everyone else. So of course, he wouldn't accept no for an answer. Plus what girl didn't like that sort of thing?
"I believe there is a cafe down the street. If you are all ready, shall we go?" He hated the thought of going back into the cold again, but luckily he'd have a warm cup of coffee before no time.

Jada's face was bright as she serenely guided Cassius towards another part of the store. "I actually do need to pick up a few things." she said, and stopped in front of a few books. Among the books she picked up, moving quickly through as though she already knew the titles she was seeking, there were books on Judo, Brazilian Jujitsu, and Kung Fu. Moving an aisle over, she tossed in a few books on Yoga and Pilates.
She had to let go of his arm to hold all of the books, but once she was finished collecting them, she looked back up at him. "I suppose I'll let you treat to the coffee if you must." she agreed easily. It was a very gentlemanly offer.
She guided him towards the register, taking special care to make sure she was gliding. The books were balanced quite precariously, after all. No glide, however, could keep that feminine, flirty twitch from her hips that sent her skirt swaying. It shouldn't take long at all to get the books rang up. She paid with a black american express card; how unique! When she had signed the slip and Cassius had been able to pay for his own book, she turned her attention to him, her stuffed bag dangling at her side. "Well, I'm all yours, Mr. James. Shall we go?"

He mentally chuckled when he watched her pick up a few books here and there. it may not have looked as though he was paying attention but he was, and he had no idea why she chose all of these workout or fighting books. He followed here to the counter and got his own book when she was finished. He was certainly relieved that they were leaving the bookstore in general. For some reason bookstores made him sleepy if he stayed in them for too long. "Yes, let's go."
They walked together outside and luckily their journey wasn't too far. Cassius still scoffed as a gust of wind hit them. "Curses." he finally muttered, while noticing he and Jada's hair were sweeping behind them. "I can't wait for this awful weather to leave." He was still frowning for many moments until coffee was a block away.
"It may not be Starbucks, but I hope that little joint suffices?" To Cassius coffee was coffee, but some people were awfully picky when it came to what they liked. Plus... this place was close, so of course Cassius chose it. But, if Jada preferred something else he'd obviously lead her elsewhere.

As her companion paid for his book, she took his arm again. He hadn't complained before, so she didn't think he would complain now.
How cold!
If on the way towards the cafe Mr. James noticed the young woman with him using advantage of her smaller size to let him break the wind by walking half a step behind him, it wouldn't have made too much of a difference. His arm was held very tightly, more on instinct than anything else. Plus, he was a little extra warmth for her.
By the time that the two of them reached the cafe, Jada was ready for a cup of tea as much as he was. Luckily for Cassius, this was even one of her favorite places to go. She'd never sat inside the cafe, but it had also never been so cold when she came here. She nodded at his words, jaw shaking a little too badly for her to risk forming words. Not that the shaking was visible, but Jada would die before she sounded like she had a speech impediment.
Quickly she let go of his arm and slipped around him, reaching out to grab the door before he had the opportunity. Rather than say anything, she gave a slight little curtsey and waited for him to enter first. Another gust of wind at her back made her shudder as the wind gave the skin of her limbs goosebumps. It was at a time like this that she was glad she at least had a light sweater on.
But blazing fudges, her knees had to be knocking together!

He wasn't sure how to react as she grabbed the door before him, but he supposed it was alright. Rather then making a scene or anything he nodded to her with a playful grin and made his way indoors. Ah, that cafe was so warm, and it smelled delicious of course. He eyed the menu thoughtfully before turning to his trusty comrade. "Order whatever you'd like."
As he waited for Jada to choose what she wanted, he turned his head gently to see who else was in the cafe. First off- thank goodness he didn't know anyone. It was always awkward when some flingy girl caused drama just because he was hanging out with someone else. The cafe was somewhat filled and it seemed as though everyone was trying to get out of the cold. Everyone had the right idea at least.
He turned back to the counter after hearing what Jada wanted, and of course ordered "An extra large coffee, just black." That was one detail that never changed in Cassius' life. His coffee would always be straight up, since he hated ruining it with sugar and milk. He drank a lot of coffee. Thank goodness he was still tall either way.
"Let's take that booth in the back." Since it was sort of loud closer to the register. He led her when both of their drinks were ready and was relieved to be warm, sitting down, and with coffee in his hands. "Well, I'm glad we made it." It really was a good idea for a change. Jada was very nice company too.

Oh, thank goodness. She followed him in, shutting the door carefully behind her. Mmm, were those chocolate croissants? She moved up to the counter, reaching into her purse and pulling out a white silk hairband. The mane of black hair that had been such a lovely coat outside would be far too warm in this place.
Loop, loop, and her hair was up in a loose, passable knot. Normally she'd be more worried about appearances, but for now she wanted two things more than assuaging her vanity: A decaf green tea, and a chocolate croissant. Those were what she ordered, the chocolate croissant a separate purchase. She turned to smile at Cassius as he stepped up to the counter next to her. "Thank you for the treats, Mr. James."
She turned bright eyes on the other people in the cafe. It wasn't too bad, but privacy was not an option. Taking the hot tea and the freshly-baked (oh-so-flaky and delicious!) croissant, somehow balancing them and her bags with a skill that spoke of plenty of practice. A napkin and a knife were picked up, then she followed the blonde over to the booth, sliding into the seat across from him.
Jada tore the croissant neatly in half, offering him the other half. "It is delicious." she said, smiled; and then she pulled a small notebook out of her purse, along with a pen. "Thank you for the tea."

At this point in time Cassius' chin was in his hand and his elbow was somehow supporting all of it plus a large smile. He was enjoying that Jada was enjoying herself and her food. He also let out a chuckle when he saw her bring out her pen and notebook. She was all business it seemed. He hoped to not be too disappointing in his knowledge of school and things. But hey, he had warned her earlier in how he felt about going to class.
"Please don't worry about it." he then added while finally sitting back and in a more relaxed position. He brought his coffee to his lips and let out a sigh at the delicious taste. "So what can I help you with? Or rather, what kind of things did you want to know?" He felt like he was being interviewed or something. He knew he was special but man. He never thought he'd see the day when a girl was asking him for information of any kind.
He took another large gulp of his coffee before feeling somewhat overwhelmed from the heat. His eyes suddenly strayed away from Jada and on a group of girls that had walked into the cafe. They looked as though they were younger then him but of course, they were all in skirts and tall heels. He loved that about girls. No matter how cold and horrible it was outside, they still managed to look hot for some reason. Silly things.
His eyes then moved back to Jada's. She looked much younger with her hair pulled back. It was a cute look for her. "You should pull your hair back more often. It really brings out your eyes." Well, at least he was an expert on some things. But it was a positive look for her. That only made her lucky compared to most girls.

"Well, I was wondering what the teachers were like. Brochures are so vague." she took another sip of her tea, inhaling a bit of the steam. "Naturally they are going to promote their product." Interesting choice of words. Referring to people as a product?
She watched his eyes move to the entrants and grinned. She couldn't stop it, but she was able to hide it at least partly by taking another sip of her tea. By the time his eyes went back to her, she was scribbling in her notebook, jotting down something he would not be able to read.
The compliment made her head jerk up, and then she smiled. "And here I always thought it made me look old." her cheeks regained some of that pink color he'd made her so frequently display earlier in the afternoon. She stood up just a little straighter, crossing her ankles under the table. Watching one of the girls cross her legs at the next able, she raised her brow before looking back down at her notebook. "Thank you for the kind compliment, Mr James."

"Mr. James make me sound important and I assure you, I'm not." Ok that was a lie. But modesty was attractive to people or some weird and unknown reason. Mr. James also made him sound like a gentleman and that was another thing he was not. "But as for the teachers, they are pretty cool. They understand that we are older as students and that we don't need their nagging on a constant basis. So luckily some treat us as adults back." Although in his case, they treated him like he was an idiot for always ditching. Not like they were wrong or anything. That just meant they were doing their jobs.
"The classes are interesting since you get to choose which you want and when you want to attend. I'm sure you'd also like it because there is a huge library to study at." Of course, he had to throw that out there. "Plus for all of you sexually frustrated girls it is coed, and I know many have been waiting their whole lives for that sort of thing." He was horrible, but honest.

"Mr. James is an appropriate style of address." she rebutted, but broke the sternness of her voice with a smile. "However, if it will make you more comfortable, I'll call you Cassius."
She listened to him carefully as he spoke, not even looking at her notebook as she wrote down the things she deemed important to remember. As he'd predicted, the thought of having access to the large Sovereign Heights library did make her face brighten.
Then those violet eyes of hers were almost snapping with outrage. "Don't you mean for the mentally prepubescent perverts like yourself it is a good thing that the school is co-ed?" It was interesting how easily the insult had slipped from her mouth.
She felt dirty having just said it.
Excepting her eyes, blazing an outrage that could not be hidden, she was positively still. Much like an animal that had locked onto a target, nothing was twitching about her except the beat of her pulse in her throat and the flicker of her eyelids as she blinked.
Then the moment was broken and she looked down at her notebook. "That was very discourteous of me to say, Mr. James. I apologize."

Cassius liked argument. He liked the response that came with making someone mad. Of course it was a sick festish. But it certainly wasn't the sickest thing that existed compared to most people! He just liked the way people acted when they got riled up. There was this whole 'loss of control' that came from the other person. Jada's reaction was a perfect demonstration of that. Even if she didn't mean it, she said it. And he loved it, obviously. "No need for apologies." he first started, while taking another sip of his drink.
"For the record, I myself am not mentally prepubescent. I may be pevertish, but I am not at all prepubescent." He brought his finger to the rim of his coffee cup and swirled around the edges in a careful manner. "And I wasn't speaking about you, Jada. But I do know a lot of females that want boys around them. All the time." Those were the females he usually 'sharked' on, before throwing them away somewhere. It really was that simple.
"You should never apologize for speaking your mind, even if it might hurt the other person. I'd be disappointed if you did it again." He stopped playing with the rim of his cup and did his usual 'yeaaap' smile. "Plus males and females are supposed to be around each other, ignoring all sexual this and thats between the sexes. The world works that way, so why should school be different? That's my only stance on the subject." And there she had it. Cassius had spoken.

Jada did not like argument. She didn't like the loss of control, the feeling of being less that came as a part of it. The feeling that somehow she had lowered herself to another level by verbal violence. The hot feelings that rose in her chest when she got angry.
She pushed the heat down, shaking her heard. "No, I was out of line, Cassius. I don't rightly know what came over me, but no person deserves to be insulted in such an infantile manner. Even if you had been speaking of me." she looked directly at him now, nothing coy about her. "However, as per your request, this will be the last of my apology."
She leaned back in her seat, adjusting the way her skirt lay over her lap. "Are co-ed schools really that different from more private institutions?" Well, that comment alone showed some amount of naivete. The dates her mother set her up on had been barren, sterile things, after all.

Cassius itched his nose slightly before considering Jada's question. "Education wise, probably not. But I honestly think that socialization and growth are more important for surviving in this world then the education factor. All of the work forces have both males and females, so why should the places that we learn at be any different?"
He probably should have explained to her that he really was no expert on life itself and was merely preaching from his own rigid opinion. "Plus, everyone seems to think that separating males from females makes them behave better. That is most definitely wrong. Guys especially can't handle themselves when they reach a coed environment like the work force and that's just pathetic to me."
As shocking as it might be, Cassius was not a fan of sexual harassment. Mostly because his father was a champ at it. Most of his father's 'girlfriends' were secretaries he had recently hired. Cassius found the whole thing just ridiculous, especially since his father went to an all boys school for most of his life.
Funny how things worked out?

She caught herself starting to chew on the end of her pen and set it down on the pad of paper. Cassius was offering an interesting proposal. Still... she tapped the end of the pen thoughtfully on the pad of paper.
It was then that her eyes caught on the clock near the cafe register. Oops.
"Do you know if that time is right?" she asked, wishing she had a watch. She pulled out a cellular phone, glancing at it. Had the time really gone by as fast as she thought it had? And had it been before or after she'd met up with Cassius. She then pursed her lips. Did she really need to be back at school this early in the day?
"On second thought, never mind." Delicately, Jada took another bite of her croissant. "I've never found that my upbringing has inhibited my relations with males." And then her eyebrow rose. Okay, maybe that was a lie.

Never in Cassius' life had he kept track of time. It were possible he would have gotten a clock tattooed on his wrist. He somehow suspected not even that could work. Even if a watch was stapled to his arm he probably wouldn't have paid attention to it anyways out of sheer laziness and lack of caring. Since everything seemed to come to Cassius in some kind of weird demented force, he didn't need time obviously. Keeping track of other people's time was an equally demented challenge.
When he watched Jada rustle and hustle for a clock of some sort, he raised a brow when she seemed content. "Did you have something to do today? Its really not a big deal if you have things to actually attend to. I know I may look helpless but I do just fine on my own." he teased while taking another gulp of his half-way drunk coffee. As for her other commented, he remained quiet until his coffee was fully swallowed.
"You still have lots of time to figure it out and grow. Don't stress about it too much. When girls grow up too fast that's usually a bad thing anyways." Jada seemed very concerned about figuring everything out so precisely. He supposed it was good that she was on top of everything in her life. But really, she just needed to experience and see what happened after.
