Casting a amused glance at Aeryn he lifted a finger, gestureing to the men infront of him as they looked over a strange powder. he was in his human form, as he usually was when dealing with outsiders.
a man to the left of her slid closer, his voice sluring as he caught her upper arm.. his scent thick with booze. " Don.. i know you? pretty girl... looks jus' like yer mum. com'in have a drink sweetheart--" Relic hadnt seemed to notice the drunk trader.. his eyes narrowed as the head trader haggled a price.

Aeryn growled and grabbed the man by the wrist. "I don't think so." She looked up at him and then gasped, standing up quickly and backing away. "Get away, I'm not yours anymore." She crossed her arms and glared at her father.

This seemed to stun him, the man growing angry as he stalked after her. " Like hell your not, little wretch! I'll teach you to disappear on me--" he lifted his hand.. and a odd ripping sounded in the room.
the man hit the far wall and bounced, Relic planting his pawed foot on his chest and pressing down hard enough to crack his ribs.. sharp claws diging into flesh as he growled. he didnt even recall shifting.. didnt remember scattering the drunks group or even touching this man until he put his foot on him.. and he didnt care in the least teal eyes glowing he lashed his tail, a crack spliting the air as one of the drunks ribs snapped. there were no words for this, only the blood lust as he pushed down harder. No one touched Aeryn that way.
A man shouted in protest, chargeing forward until his group caught his arms to hold him back. the youngest of them whispered quickly. " No.. dont go near it, that thing is cursed Sam.. It will kill you too.."

Aeryn grabbed Relic's arm gently and looked up at him. "Leave him there Relic. He is too screwed up to die now. Let him die in his own vomit." Her voice and face were hard. No, let Relic kill him. He wants to protect you so let him. "Come on Relic, let him go."

Body tense he hesitated.. eyes feirce as he looked down at the man. he didnt want to let him go.. steping down he let the man breath, then reached down and wrenched his arm backwards hard. the crack echoed in the room, the mans pained whimper signaling his passing to unconsciousness. kicking the form to the group he growled low. " He will never hit anyone again, not with that arm. get him and get out.. your not welcome here anymore." it was noticable he kept himself infront of Aeryn, staying firmly between her and the group to block their view of her.

After Aeryn heard the people leave she sighed. She didn't know what to say and didn't know what to do now. Hug him, calm him. Aeryn looked at Relic's back and for once listened to her little voice. She rapped her arms around Relic's waist from behind and hugged him tight. "Thank you for saving me."

Slowly, as the sound of their steps died away, he relaxed again.. though his posture didnt change from protective. " I let him live." he sounded displeased with that.. but didnt linger on it. not responding to her thanks he fliped his attention fully to her. turning in her arms he lifted her and sat her on the counter, his left ear twitching as he examined her arm where the man had caught hold of her. " Did he hurt you, Aeryn?"

"No, no he didn't." She rubbed her arm and looked at it. "It just stings. I won't let him hurt me again." She looked up at Relic and sighed. "I can't let him get to me again. And maybe today isn't a good time to teach me." She got off the counter and turned away to walk off. Don't you dare missy, listen to me again and let him take care of you! Aeryn couldn't walk for a moment and grabbed the counter.

no sound warned her as he stepped behind her, his arm locking around her waist as his forhead fell onto the back of her shoulder. " Cara, i cant. he almost.. i didnt defend you.. just wait and let me get control back." His jackal was howling in rage, still seeing the man lifting his hand as if to strike her. he had intended to strike her.. and Relic didnt get the satisifaction of killing him for it. a low growl escaped him, bone chilling and rough as he fought the impulse to hunt him down. " He was your father.. wasnt he?" that thought just added to the rage, his fur bristling as he stiffened. " i should have eaten his heart the night he left you on the road.. if you hadnt been in such a bad way i would have.."

Aeryn turned around and hugged Relic back. "I knew Asa's daughter didn't find me." She smiled at the thought and then sighed. "He was my father, but not anymore. He isn't my life anymore. This pack is my life." She closed her eyes and caught herself taking in a deep breath, trying to get Relic's scent. "And you are my life too."

" Ilasis found you." He responded imidately, though it sounded more amused than agressive now. " just.. after i did." relaxing he pushed her to arms length, studying her carfully as he added firmly. " You are pack, Aeryn.. and a part of my life. i would have killed him for trying to take you away, i almost did kill him for it.. if he comes near you again, will you swear to tell me?"

Aeryn nodded and looked down at the ground, her heart sinking slightly. "I promise Relic, I'll tell you if he comes after me again." She wouldn't let Relic get him first though. She would break something or beat him to a pulp before she ran to get Relic. She moved and sat on the counter again, putting her hands in her lap and still looking at the ground. "Thank you for stopping him. I was too scared to remember what I could do to him."

Knowing it was for the best he kept emotional distance from her, ruffleing her hair as he would a younger sibling.. when in truth he wanted hug her again. Distance.. Remeber why you didnt let her know you before.. steeling his resolve he forced his mind away from any romantic emotions, saying gently. " Aeryn.. i think its best if Psyc or Ilasis teachs you to fight. i have to go on a trip, and i may not be back for a while.." he couldnt allow this bond to grow anymore than it already had, at least.. not until It was over, the job he had to complete..

All her muscles stiffened, even the voice in her head stopped talking, and she looked up at Relic quickly, fear shooting out to her features. "Where are you going?" She suddenly had a fear that he was going to get hurt, or worse. That he would leave her alone forever. "What if I need you? Both of them don't like me very much, I could tell even before my change." She started to chew on her nails and a pair of black ears popped out the top of her head, fur rippling across her skin but she didn't fully shift.

He took a breath, buzzing the com link in his ear lightly. 'Ilasis, please come to the shop.. i need help.' in a louder voice he answered soothingly. " it isnt that they dont like you, Aeryn.. they are afraid to get emotionaly close to humans because we outlive them. you are not human now, but a sister of our kind. Psyc will die to protect you, Ilasis will be your friend." so long as she accepted her.. his cousin was a sweet woman, but held a very alpha nature. the trick was not to get both on the same side in mischief.. certanly if they were teaming up to get him into something.
