Guedes paused slightly at the yelp of pain and glanced back. "I did not say yes! I said leave!" She turned back and moved a log out of the way to get inside and set everything down.
The large, failing structure was built up of many hollowed out, split logs that were tied to or just leaning against each other and the other overgrowth for support. Many more skulls that adorned the mare also decorated the outside along with various other small charms and torn cloth. The mare poked her head back outside again long enough to scowl at her once more. She wasn't too pleased that she knew where her home was now. "I don't want to talk."

Rondel stared at the structure taking it in. She thought the decrepit pile of logs suited the mare. She took a few more steps and peered at one of the skulls. Her head snapped up and looked back at her. "How come?" she asked. "Everyone usually wants to talk about something sometime..." she said moving to look at another. "Except Momma...I think I make her sad...I don't really know why...but I don't think she likes that I left Papa to come find her." she sighed and shuffled feeling embarrassed. "I never told anyone that before..." she said quietly.

Guedes stared at her in silence as she firmly stood her place in the entrance to her home. "I don't enjoy the company of others. Especially not young ones. You're too curious and it will get you killed one day." She said, waiting to be rid of Rondel. "...you were probably better off staying with your father. Especially if your mother doesn't want you."

Rondel frowned and impulsively went up to the mare. "Will not. Momma says its normal." she said pouting a bit. "And Momma does want me...she and Papa...just had problems. She lets me stay with her." she said leaning to the side trying to see into the mare's home.
Even in the fading light she could see all sorts of strange items. "Why do you have so much stuff?" she asked completely dropping the previous subject. She then smiled. "You know...if I just knew what all this was for, I'd go away...after of course you told me how to get back to the plains." she said sweetly and innocently.

Guedes knew better than to just tell anything to the foal. What she kept was her own business and would just entice Rondel's curiosity more than it already was.
"Nothing you need to know about." She stated plainly, moving to the side to block her view into the home. "If you want to get back to the plains, just go back the way you came. I'm sure you can find it if you're so smart..."

Rondel shuffled. "Well I was sorta distracted and wasn't really paying attention so...I got lost...and I'm not really sure which way I came. Besides its getting dark so I'll definitely get lost even more."
Rondel looked around the area taking in the surroundings before looking back at Guedes taking in her appearance. "Are you practicing some sort of religion?" she asked.

The mare sighed and looked up at what little of the sky she could see. She had already wasted most of her day with nonsense and now the little one. She would have no choice but to lead her back out to the plains that night if she wanted to raid the camps of more two-leggers.
"It's no religion, child." She stated plainly, looking behind her at everything.

"Then what is it?" Rondel asked scooting to the side as the mare turned to look into her home completely awestruck. "I've never seen anything like all this stuff before." she said taking a few steps towards the nearest object inside.
"What do you do with all of it?" she asked.

She stood ready to stop Rondel if she did anything or touched anything she shouldn't. Her gaze followed her all through the structure, making sure the foal kept well out of the trouble she was already in. "...charms, herbs, collections..." Guedes murmured, moving to stand beside her.
"All for Voodoo..." she finished, picking up a particular herb and pressing it gently against the cut Rondel got previously.

Rondel jumped as the mare touched her with something, but relaxed when the sting from the scratch on her side began to fade away. "Thanks." She said turning to look up at the mare. "It feels better." she then turned to look over the items again.
"So what's Voodoo for?" she asked.

"It's not unusual for some to use it as revenge against others." She said after pulling away and tossing the herb aside, her gaze looking up toward a plush doll that looked just like her. "Others use it for healing, spells, charms...curses." She finished, looking back to inspect the cut on the foal.
"This is exactly why I told you to leave and not follow me."

"Interesting." she looked at her shoulder and sighed in relief at the eased pain. "Sounds really useful." she turned her head and came face to face with the mare again. She suddenly smiled her face lighting up. "Maybe you could teach me some~ Maybe not the scary stuff but the useful stuff?" she asked hopefully.
She then shrugged. "I'm lost, I don't know my way back, its dark, and I don't listen so well." she said with a grin.

Guedes shook her head and looked outside again. "...you can come back with me when I leave tonight." She said, coming fully back inside. "But...a little one like you has no business with Voodoo. Useful or not, you'll get yourself into far more trouble than you need at this time."
She hated to admit it, but the mare might as well have sold her soul for this practice and lifestyle.

Rondel nodded. "Okay." she trailed after the mare listening to her nodding slightly. "I guess...." she then thought and tried a different angle. It seemed unfair to ask for something without giving something back. If she'd learned anything from her mother it was a bit of negotiation.
"What it...leaving out the Voodoo part...you teach me some herb lore, let me stay here tonight...and in return...I'll dance for you." she offered.

Guedes raised a brow at the foal. Dance? She'd never heard of such a thing coming from another soquili. She only knew of the two-leggers doing something similar for their gods. Was this perhaps supposed to be an offering to their own gods from the foal?
"Stay here or not...I leave during the night to collect what I need. I had intentions to return you to the plains--"
