Unknowingly, Lazarus's hands had clenched into fists as he concentrate on Vyn and the shadow on the floor. His eyes widen yet again as a small trickle of the shadow moved outwards, it was still very unstable and lacks a solid form, but he could see that it was roughly going in one direction. "Yes, that was closer! Just keep trying, you could do it!" He cheered Vyn on, feeling excited.
Lazarus had fully immersed into the coaching role now, he found himself feeling a sense of achievement when Vyn managed to achieve something as well. It was almost as if the Sigel mirrored the shadow Raevan's emotions in the practice session. He is ready to continue to cheer Vyn on until she's exhausted.
Who knew Lazarus would be a good teacher like this? Definitely wasn't Kyou. The scientist was equally impressed by the fire Sigel's coaching capabilities as well as Vyn's show of power, although it was still weak and unstable right now. But he truly believed that she will improve over time. His attention was immediately diverted towards Ethan as he clapped and cheered happily at Vyn. A fond smile spread across his lips at the gesture, it doesn't seem faked or forced, it was true from the elder man's heart. He was glad that Vyn had finally found someone that truly cared for her.

Verging on half an hour later a definite layer of perspiration was gleaming on the rose’s porcelain face. The effort that triggering and maintaining her abilities took was clear to see as her whole figure was dotted with signs of effort; her wings were no longer pert and sagged slightly, her eyes were half lidded as she stared intently at the shadow on the floor and her rune was glowing with painful brightness. If a doctor were to examine her right now they would most likely say that she was verging on the point of exhaustion. However, despite all this there was a sense of enthusiasm and pleasure hanging about her. Throughout the training session she had undoubtedly progressed and now, panting slightly she was about to perform her newly honed ability once more.
Now she didn’t even have to close her eyes to focus. After many repeats she could channel the internal force of her rune, willing with her mental and physical strength and nudging the shade before her into action. With this practice under her belt the shadow was more malleable under her control. It no longer posed the same stubborn resistance and creating whatever two dimensional shape on the floor that she desired was almost easy. Lazarus had guided her through that stage well, posing interesting challenges – writing her name, creating shadow puppet pictures... Now she was extending her abilities through the next wall: Breaking the third dimension.
Writhing from the main mass the organic prickled tendril snaked across the empty floor. Convulsing under the force that Vyn was exerting on it the tip began to rise from the flat surface. Like a snake the rest of its ‘body’ followed, contorting and twisting until finally a branch of thorny matter was arching, free from the original bulk of the shadow. When this was complete the rose was quite literally quivering from the strain. Her muscles ached from the sustained practice and even continuing to float seemed a terrible effort. Nevertheless she beamed as the shadowy mass dissolved back into the floor with a final sigh. Since starting her training session she had done so much and she had Lazarus’ brilliant encouragement to thank for that!
Enraptured with the performance of actual magic that Vyn was displaying Ethan felt to awed for words. This was no sleight of hand. No hidden trickery was taking place here. Actual magic, as real as the power that held his floating ward in the air, was in the room and his daughter was the one instigating it. Over the course of the session Vyn’s skill had gradually improved as she inserted dogged determination. The pain of the repeated strains did not even seem to be bothering the frei and he couldn’t help but admire her endurance.
However, now with her heaving breaths filling the void of noise between them he felt a need to perhaps step in... There was only so much that could be achieved in one day without any negative aftermath and in his experience with Vyn – the come down after a high were rarely a good thing.
“Bravo Vyn. Absolutely stunning!” He exclaimed, putting his hands together in a genuinely enthusiastic applause. However, after this commending call he turned his head in the raevan creator’s direction... “Perhaps we should wrap up soon though...? Wouldn’t want to push her too hard too soon if you catch my drift?”

That last show of power was absolutely amazing. Lazarus was most used to seeing all sorts of weird powers, lava-covered fists, the power to freeze, even sometimes some of Kyou's arcane magic. But never before that he saw something that was always two dimensional to him came into the three dimensional world. The shadow tendril that emerged from the shadow cast by the fire, it was almost surreal.
However, he also noticed that Vyn was exhausted from the continuous concentration and exertion. Her forehead was covered in sweat and her breath was short and shallow, he also noticed the slight downward droop of her wings that was proud and perked up before this. When the shadow tendril disappeared back into the ground and the Frei beamed, he decided that she should stop for today, less she over exert herself. "Alright, we should stop here." Lazarus said as he floated closer. Floating next to the shadow Raevan, he raised a hand tentatively and gave Vyn a gentle pat on the shoulder, a smile adorned on his handsome face. "Good work." At least, that's how he remembered of how it was on television shows, when a couch acknowledge their student's good work.
Kyou nodded at Ethan's suggestion, although it was only half an hour, it was still a rather long period of time for a first. Thankfully the scientist need not to stop the session himself as Lazarus had seemed to be thinking the same thing as Ethan as he halted the session.
Taking some final notes in his notebook, the scientist dusts off his coat a little and stood up beside the elder man. "Lazarus!" He called out towards the Sigel to get his attention. "I think it's a wrap, please put out the fire and clean up." Then he turned towards Ethan. "Perhaps she could practice a little at home on her own, then we could have another session like this... perhaps in another month or so to see her progress?" Kyou suggested politely, trying to be as professional as possible but a little excitement still seeped through his words and expression like a little boy, eager to see how much Vyn could progress within a month,

Initially Vyn was going to protest. She was enjoying the progress she was making. Ever little step, every development of her mastery over her abilities equalled a step towards growth in her mind. The statement Lazarus had made earlier was echoing around her brain and the prospect of finally catching up with her peers was more than enough motivation to press through the pain. However when both Ethan and Dr. Kyou repeated Lazarus’ suggestion of calling it quits she slumped into defeat, accepting that it would probably be best to have a break. After all she could always practice on her own in future... She wouldn’t have the dancing shadow of the flames at her disposal but there were plenty of other light sources that she could make shadows with... Thus she smiled as Kyou closed his notebook and turned to her father. This whole experience had been a big success.
Floating alongside the incubus she decided that it was the least that she could do in offering to aid with the clean-up. She couldn’t assert any control over the smouldering flames, that was the sigel’s domain, but she could drag the large empty crate back over to where it had come from. Wrapping her aching arms around it her rune glowed slightly in protest but she proceeded to drag it none the less. As she moved she summoned yet another proud yet gratuitous smile. “Thank you for the help Lazarus..” It was a heartfelt thanks despite the fact it was quiet and came between shaky breaths.
Ethan was obviously relieved to see his ward pleased and willing to end now. She had done so much and it would be awful casting a bad mood over such a wonderful session by pushing it slightly too far. At the doctor’s suggestion of a later check-up on his charge’s progress he smiled, evidently pleased by the idea of another meeting with the intelligent creator of the raevans. “Yes, that would be brilliant.” He responded, dipping into the inside pocket of his jacket and removing his pocket diary. “What time would be best for you?” He intoned, taking a pen from his top pocket and clicking up the nib – poised over the paper pages.

Putting out the fire, that's easier said than done. Lazarus thought bitterly and quietly for a moment as he stared at the campfire. Admittedly, the fire was smaller than what it initially was, probably due to the dwindling amount of wood left to burn on from the broken crate. Turning his head around, he looked for a fire extinguisher in the gigantic room, although his hope was small since he don't remember seeing one before. And he was right, there weren't a fire extinguisher in the whole entire warehouse at all. Momentarily he wondered what would happen if a fire broke out in the warehouse, then again, no one would notice until it is too late in an abandoned empty warehouse like this. So there weren't any choice but to put out the fire in a more... unrefined manner.
Vyn approached him then, dragging the oblong shaped crate with her in an attempt to help clean up. Her thanks and smile was quite unexpected, Lazarus momentarily found himself lost for words as a strange feeling filled inside of him. Is this, perhaps this is a sense of pride and accomplishment? The Sigel wasn't very sure, but one thing that he is sure about is that... this isn't a bad feeling at all. His face brighten up as he smiled, a slight rosy tint graced his cheeks. "It was no problem, and you're welcome." And with a last nod, he excused himself and headed on towards the campfire.
It was moments like this that he wished he had feet, without much equipment at hand, the only way to put out a fire is to stomp it out. However, he don't have legs yet so he had to settle with alternatives. Floating down lower like in a crouched position, he reached out a hand into the fire. To other people this act might look like it hurts, a lot. But to Lazarus; the fire Raevan, it's just like a warm welcome. Grabbing a burning wood piece, he tossed it to a side so that it separates from the main campfire. Then using his hand he smacked it continuously and sometimes held his hand over the fire to put it out. He did this, repeating the process with the rest of the firewood in the campfire until all of them had been put out. By then there was a thin sheet of sweat gleaming on his forehead and his hands are blacken from the charred wood.
Kyou had to ponder over the question a little. Right now, he couldn't think of any special events or appointments in the following month. That is, if nothing like the Fel Outbreak pop up again. "Perhaps, same date and time next month?" He suggested tentatively. "I should be free if nothing of urgent pops up. However, if you are busy I would understand, especially someone of your caliber." Ethan's schedule is probably much busier compared with his, so it is probably better if the elder man set an appointment date instead, Kyou is flexible. But then a thought came to the scientist's mind. "By the way, when is the Japan trip?" If they are going in the next month, perhaps they could set the appointment after she returned from the trip?

A pang of guilt shot through the rose as she watched her tutor bent to the floor and used his arms to inelegantly whacks at the flaming heap until the flickering flames choked out and all that remained was an unpleasant pile of smouldering soot and charred wood. It was not a clean business either as ash and unpleasant odours were wafted up by the Sigel’s movements, not only coating his tanned arms black but undoubtedly causing irritation to his eyes and lungs. All she could do was float at the wayside, catching her breath and watching like a rather useless piece of furniture. When all the shimmering heat had been worked out of the pile she drifted over, bowing her head towards Lazarus.
“It should be ok to leave all that,” she motioned towards the eyesore of burnt out material remaining on the floor, “I’m sure Ethan will get someone to clean up.” Another ‘thank you’ began to form in her throat but she restrained herself. She had already said thank you once and if she repeated herself again and again she would sound like a broken record. Over gratuitous at best, annoying at worst; neither were exactly how Vyn wanted to come across.
As the suggested follow up date was revealed Ethan’s brows quirked but then a smile formed as the doctor’s following question registered. “Actually, the Japan trip falls around that time. The middle of April; the twelfth through to the nineteenth..” He frowned, not annoyed or angry but rather bemused, working out if there could be a date more suitable for the meeting. “Perhaps after we return from Japan I can give you a phone call to arrange something?” He closed the book to signify that he thought this was the best course of action... Not that he desired to be pushy, but surely the Doctor would agree that arranging such things closer to the time when both knew what their schedules would be like was sensible.
Overhearing the discussion between the two humans Vyn beamed inwardly, even if her outward exhaustion did not reflect her eagerness. Not only was there the Japanese trip to look forward to but she could practice her power in hope that next time they met – after the trip – she could impress Lazarus and Kyou. Moving her tired muscles, her whole body was now giving complaints after the strain she had put it through training; she smiled at the ebony haired man next to her adopted father. “Thank you very much Dr.Kyou.”
Ethan also smiled, pleased with his daughters politeness. “Yes, thank you again. It’s been a pleasure finally meeting you.” He intoned, grasping the man’s hand once more and shaking vigorously. The training session was over but hopefully the communications between them had only just begun.
