((Are you actually teaching him a style? or just basic kicks and punches?))
Masaki watched Luo with a confused expression on his face. He seemed to be performing a kick, but he was making odd motions with his hands that weren't 100% clear. Masaki remembered how handy words were as he attempted the kick he was shown, and failed miserably. Where Luo's movements were controlled, Masaki almost knocked himself over trying to kick. The combination of weights and buoyancy made any kind of movement difficult yet Luo was wanting him to practice his kicks. Masaki watched as Luo practiced a couple more times for demonstration. It was as if he was anywhere else, not being faced with any of Masaki's difficulties. He was somehow keeping control of his entire body. Masaki, a berserker by nature, took a while to realize this. He practiced several more kicks, and he began to flip as he did so. Eventually, realizing he was upside down, Masaki did one more strong kick to right himself and stopped to think. What were Luo's hands doing? Masaki slowed down, and performed the kick extremely slow. As he did so, he followed Luo's hand motions as closely as he could remember. Somehow, he managed to perform it all even slower than Luo had, as he fought with his weak memory to get the movements exactly right. Finally, Masaki realized that the hand movements were "showing" the movement of the leg muscles. He performed the "slow-mo" demonstration kick once more, as he controlled the movement of his muscles as the hand gestures showed. Finally, after what seemed a decade of painfully slow movement, Masaki tried again. Somehow the berserker managed a controlled kick. While it wasn't quite on par with Luo's movements, or even close, Masaki had indeed begun learning. He practiced the kick several more times, and then turned to Luo as he started moving again.
((Grah, I'll come back and make another post in a bit. Need to take a quick break before finishing up Masaki's training.))

Next Luo demonstrated a side kick, at varying heights. Masaki payed closer attention this time, and realized it wasn't extremely different. He knew he wouldn't get too much more training before he collapse d, but knowing he was getting stronger filled him with a whole new resolve. He would train until either Luo called it a day or Masaki collapsed, whichever came first. Masaki lifted his leg and tried the lowest version of the side-kick, and as he dragged his feet through the water realized the chances of Luo ending the training before he collapsed was nill. Hours of overexertion combined with the food he hadn't had were beginning to take his toll. Even so, he managed the first few levels of kicks with minimal difficulty. They weren't much different from the kick he had just learned. The higher kicks however, were a whole new obstacle. Masaki couldn't manage kicks any higher than his ribs, but Luo was even kicking at head height somehow. After several failed attempts to kick higher, Masaki surrendered. He wouldn't learn it this way. Once again, he was forced to slow down, he brought his leg up as high as he could in a slow kick, and then pulled it with his hands to achieve the right height. It was painful, extremely, and he spent a long time stretching each leg out. Not having a proper way to measure time in such an environment, Masaki couldn't guess how long it really took. Finally, he managed a couple kicks up to head-height. He would need to practice these kicks constantly, a day of learning wouldn't be enough and Masaki knew it. Even so, he did manage to get the basic idea right. He would certainly stand a better chance in close quarters in the "tournament" that had been arranged. Fortunately, the last kick wasn't too big an obstacle after he managed the head-level side kick. It was still damned difficult, but after a few slow kicks, he managed to pull off a decent axe kick before the water turned black. His weighted ankles and wrists had began to bleed from the constant abuse, and his muscles protested in every way they could. It was a miracle of Masaki's resolve that he was able to put up with this training that bordered on self destruction until he did. Finally however, the berseker was rendered immobile as it's mind and body shut down.

((sorry for the walls of text... BTW do you want to give the village another week to post in the profiles? or do you think everyone who can has already moved their profile?))

As Luo stood there, he watched as the river blackened rapidly. Sighing, he watched it come from the source; Masaki. He waited a moment as the river's moving water rushed the blood away, and floated to the top with Masaki's body. Picking him up gently as he stood on the water, Luo walked a bit and placed him just at the bank with his head dangling over the water. Removing the weights on his wrists and legs, he held the boy by the collar and he placed him in the water once more, allowing it to carry away any dried blood so he could see the source of the problems.

Placing the boy back on the grass, Luo noticed his clones arriving back with their task complete. They had set up traps within a five mile radius in varying places for use later in training. "Fire please," Luo muttered to the lot before they got moving building what was necessary as the moon rose to full height. Meanwhile, Luo opened one of the pouches on his belt and pulled on a spool of bandage tape he'd rigged to stay put in there. Cutting two wrist pieces off and two leg pieces, he began the handy-work. It wasn't difficult to bandage limbs, but it was a necessary skill that most should have. As he finished, he watched the blood seep through the first layer of bandaging and clot at the second. As the fire was built, Luo walked over to the river and stared at it.

Running a hand through the water he seemed to wait patiently for something and then, snap! His fist locked shut and he pulled out a fish writhing in his grasp. Piercing it with a stick, he set it just over the fire. Pulling out a sleeping mat from the duffel bags brought back, he placed it a safe distance from the fire, and then placed Masaki onto it. Staring into the flames, Luo sat cross-legged and listened to the symphony of sound around him. The river in motion, the trees as they creaked and swayed, the wind as it whistled through the rainforest, and then the animals themselves. It was all melodic and all beautiful. Pulling his stick from the ground he held it and waited for the fish to cool as he stared at Masaki.

Shaking his head Luo cracked a smile muttering, "Hmph. Didn't expect him to pass out from a loss of blood. He's stronger than I thought." He watched his chest rise and fall and ate silently, wondering just what made the boy's resolve what it was. The next day would be odd to Masaki compared to today's abuse. Forming a hand sign, his clones burst into water, and Luo stood to pluck and place a large leaf on the ground to sleep on. Lying on his back and staring up he thought to himself, "What an interesting land we live in."

Masaki's sleep was no more dream-filled than it ever was, it was likely his mind was too exhausted to produce dreams. He slept through the the evening, thenight and the better part of the morning leaving him with several extra hours of sleep. When he did wake up, his muscles informed him that they were not pleased with yesterday's events. He sat up, before realizing he was placed in a cot, and his clothes were well dried. He didn't know it, but the fire had been a blessing, saving him from getting sick in his wet clothing. He glanced around with a dazed look, as he fought the grogginess that accompanied mornings. He couldn't help but wonder if he'd get any breakfast, considering who his sensei was. A loud growl from his stomach pleaded for food as he looked for his sensei. Among the many discomforts, Masaki was also in the surrounded by trees and water. The smells seemed to revive him, as he felt at home. The bustle of the village simply couldn't compare.

As the boy seemed to wake up, Luo tossed the second of the three dehydrated meals he picked up onto his lap, the box steaming. The boy had wasted time sleeping, and unfortunately Luo spent the morning fending off a jaguar who attempted to make countless advances on the camp site. There weren't many signs of the struggle since it happened just about thirty yards away, but there was a line of three parallel scratches on his left arm that remained untreated other than being washed.

Walking over to Masaki, he sat in front of him in the lotus position muttering, "This is the first and last time you will sleep in. If you are not awake by sunrise every morning henceforth, you will be woken up; it is in your best interest that I do not wake you up. After you finish eating, we will meditate, and we will talk afterwards. Spending the day in silence again is not how I wish for your training to go, and it is imperative that you ask questions about what we are doing so that you may learn appropriately. Understood?"

((Nope, it wasn't a style, just kicking training.))

Masaki nodded as Luo talked. It probably wasn't that late, only about 10, but Luo obviously had planned on starting early. Masaki ate his food quickly, he even managed to use the chopsticks without making too big a mess. When he finished he turned to Luo. "First question, why bother meditating? isn't that just doing nothing and being quiet?" He smacked a bug on his neck. Even with his body aching all over, Masaki did not like the idea of sitting all day. How that could possibly make hims stronger was beyond him. He stood up and stretched his muscles in every way he could to keep them from stiffening up too much. He then stepped back for a moment to practice the axe kick once more, this time in the open air. He found himself momentarily stunned at how strong the kick felt. Maybe I shouldn't question his methods, he does seem to know how to teach but...sitting? what is that going to do for me?!?

Motioning for the boy to sit, Luo enlightened him on why it was important, noticing the boy's reaction to the kick which on land seemed like a breeze. Closing his eyes and touching his ring finger to his thumbs on each hand, he took a deep breath in, and one deep exhale before speaking. "When your mind is in sync with your body, limitations you once thought existed are surpassed. Your ears will truly open, your eyes will truly see, and you will truly feel what is around you. The chakra circulatory system is a complex thing to master, and in order to manipulate your chakra without overexerting yourself, you need to know your body."

Taking another deep breath in and out, the young kage continued as chakra seemed to seep out of every pour of his being, like tiny wisps of midnight blue vapor. "Only when you can allow your body to work with your chakra system rather than forcing it to do what you wish, will you truly gain control over your ability as a shinobi; freely capable of manipulating your body in ways many have never imagined. Until you learn to appreciate and properly train your body to control your chakra, you will not learn any ninjutsu from me. Today's first exercise is as such: Do as I am doing and move your chakra throughout your body, Move it from your ring finger to your thumb from each hand, learn to exude chakra and cause it to recede in a controlled manner. When you can accomplish this, the art of ninjutsu will be taught."

By this time, Luo's chakra had begun to take a full form around his body, whisps of it shooting off and circling around him in a slow manner. The man knew what he was doing, and every movement of chakra was caused by thought alone. The grass around him was rippling like water as he emitted a thorough energetic breeze. Leaves when blown into his area were caught in his chakra, swirling around until being lifted up and out of the area. For someone like Masaki, concentration was not a strong suit. However, if he was capable of completing the task, meditation would allow his body to advance forward in such a way that his brain when alert would react faster. He'd hear things he'd never noticed before, see movements in people he'd never bothered to process, and feel in his attacks where he was incorrect. It was as much a tool for a shinobi as the sword, and Luo was a master of both. He just hoped Masaki would begin down the path of mastery as well.

Masaki sat as Luo directed, and listened to what he said. A frown crossed his face. "Doesn't make sense" but he followed Luo's example and duplicated his pose. doesn't chakra naturally flow throughout the boddy? I understood it was a system much like the blood system whatever that's called... Despite Masaki's thoughts and doubts, he closed his eyes and focused on his chakra. As if he were attempting to perform a jutsu, he concentrated on his chakra, and "traced" it throughout his body. He spent a while doing so, eventually however, he realised he was an idiot. Luo must have been saying to direct the chakra as if doing a jutsu. While chakra did indeed run naturally through the body, when performing jutsu you call on a large amount of chakra and move it through your body, generally to the hands or feet, to make "ninja magic." Masaki focused, and this time led several small masses of built up chakra throughout his body. When he reached his ring-finger, he transfered it to his thumb as directed. Noticing something strange, Masaki looped it, and send it in a circuit through his fingers. When the chakra moved from finger to thumb it created a magnetic feeling, as if he couldn't pull his fingers apart. After several minutes playing like that, he moved on. The last bit would be the hardest, Luo intended for him to "exude chakra and cause it to recede in a controlled manner." In other words, he would basically need to release his chakra throughout his body rather than one spot like he would when performing a jutsu. Not only that, he was supposed to control it outside his body. As expected that bit took the longest. While Masaki could manage from the start to "exude" the chakra throughout his body, it was incredibly out of balance. He would concentrate on one area to balance it out, but then lose the balance for the rest. It took a lot of practice just to even things out, all while juggling his chakra in the air around him and bringing a sense of order to his chakra. Masaki's own traits seemed to be inherited by or from his chakra, which was unmanageable and chaotic. Eventually a weaker "aura" than Luo's was formed, but it indeed reached a strong balance. Masaki concentrated on this, keeping things as consistent as possible. Somehow, this practiced seemed to soothe his muscles even more, it almost felt like his body was regenerating itself. If it was actually helping, it was probably doing no more than massaging his muscles, or a hot bath would do, but every little bit helped.
((force Masaki to be still and calm for too long and he'll explode...Just a heads up.))

After about two hours, Luo noticed another force pushing on the aura around him. Feeling content in his meditation, his chakra receded quickly and his eyes opened. Standing up, he walked over to the weights he had removed from the boy the night before and tossed them into his lap muttering towards him, "Put them back on and practice the kicks I taught you once more. After that, we'll go on a little run around the area and meet back for lunch." What Luo had neglected to mention, was that this run took Masaki through a myriad of trip wires which when triggered, launched a large variety of kunai and shuriken his way.

However, for the first three or four traps (Luo not being the one to personally set them up had no idea) there was enough of a time lapse between the tripping of the wire, and the distance for the weapons to travel, that with Masaki's weight training and meditation he would be able to effectively block or dodge most if not all of the attacks. However, with each passing of traps, the time lapse became shorter and shorter. The last trap was near instantaneous. Luo had read the boy's profile carefully and notice an oddity that was rare: At his age and level of training, Masaki held two elements. This sort of oddity in the shinobi world meant one of two things: He was either of the tendril threading bloodline and had two hearts (And by his facial features and the lack of stitching this was not plausible), or he was one of very few who held the Mokuton bloodline. If Luo was correct, the last trap would trigger his affinity for combining the two elements to perform wood releases, and allow for the dense woodland around him to spring forth by sheer will and protect him.

If not however, Luo would need to give him some immediate medical attention.

((That's why I'm training him to be able to do it. I figured it wouldn't be something easy for him to grasp at first.))

((indeed, I'm noticing that. You are attacking most of his personality, and even making a dent. Not sure he'll make the next Buddha anytime soon though.))
Masaki rubbed his sore ankles and wrists a bit before strapping the weights back on. Hopefully leaving the bandages on would prevent further wear and tear. It was a good thing Luo decided to start with the real training, Masaki was beginning to shake and would probably not be able to sit still much longer. He stood and moved back again then and started practicing the kicks from the basic kick up to the axe kick. The first kicks were mostly refresher, it took a couple tries to make each one feel like it had in the water. The later ones, even though he had only just practiced the axe kick, were difficult again. His muscles had become tight from the long sleep and sit session, and his flexibility was lost. He had to stretch his legs in various ways before he could get anywhere near the right height, but eventually he managed to pull it off. He practiced a couple more times to get things as controlled and powerful as they could get.
Finally he wiped the sweat from his head and turned to Luo, waiting for instructions for this run.

Watching the boy practice, Luo stretched his limbs in that time. As Masaki looked ready to go, Luo explained what was going to happen as he backflipped onto a tree limb. "We'll be doing a five mile circuit around the campsite. Try to keep up and follow me carefully." Leaping off of the limb, Luo started the circuit off with the boy in tow. As he leaped from tree to tree for a bout a half mile, he flipped over a branch that for someone of Masaki's rank was a necessary step, especially with the weights. Landing on a branch three yards a head, he continued. That branch was the first of five traps set up in this particular circuit. One which Luo would take note of how Masaki handled from far enough away that the thick forest foliage seemed to block the vision of him standing fifty feet away and staring back at the spectacle that was to happen.

Masaki followed as Luo ran on the branches once more. This must be a warm up, or there's something he's not telling me He thought. After yesterday, a simple circuit through the trees wouldn't do much for him. When Luo skipped a branch, Masaki figured he must have been showing off or something since Masaki could barely reach the branch with all the weight he was carrying. When he landed on the branch however, he realized his mistake. A loud rustling from the side announced that he had found the shuriken that Luo had bought, or rather it had found him. Luo was still ahead of him, so he wasn't attacking. Masaki grabbed the branch, and flipped down onto the lower one, as the shuriken flew overhead. So there was more to this "run" after all. Even so, the shuriken were far away, and Masaki had dodged them easilly. He jumped back up and continued following Luo.

As Masaki dodged the first barrage, Luo turned and continued onward. It would be a bit trickier now to cause him to fall for the trap again. In order to phase him, Luo seemed to show off just how acrobatic he truly was. He ramped up his speed, becoming a far ahead figure to Masaki who flipped and twisted almost constantly. He even went as far as to switch to both higher and lower levels of the rainforest on a consistent basis, making sure the boy got in a real workout. Scaling trees was not an easy feet, and doing so, following Luo, and making sure to not trip anymore wires was indeed a task.

As Luo went for a mile and a half more, he jumped from the rainforest floor to its midsection, flipping over a wire that would be tripped by Masaki ascending upwards, meaning when his head set it off, his chest would be in danger. As he landed, Luo dashed forward and continued on, this time slowing his pace and jumping backwards watching the boy. It seemed for some reason Luo was aware of everything around him without looking where he was going, years of training in this area allowing him to be capable of such a feat. Trap two would be shuriken, and a group faster than the last.

Masaki followed his sensei, who started going out of his way to "show off" which slightly irritated Masaki. Not only was it rude, but It made it difficult to determine what traps the man was dodging. Masaki didn't have the same flexibility as his sensei, and Mainly just followed normally, only mimicing Lup when he thought he might be avoiding a trap. This was all for naught however, as the next trap Masaki tripped was set up differently. Masaki tripped it midair, the only bonus being that he had felt the wire snap, leaving a thin cut on his forehead. Masaki Kicked off of a nearby tree, effectively "sidestepping" the kunai, but they were only inches away. The traps were getting stronger. Masaki didn't know how many he had dodged, so the next one could be the same, or it could be impossible to dodge. He grinned. This test didn't make much sense, but he had to admit it was fun. Much more interesting than sitting was.

Stifling a laugh, Luo continued to jump backwards, falling on purpose vertically and twisting so that he was facing forward. He continued to confuse the boy and took it a step further. As he hopped back up before Masaki could think to get down there, he formed one seal and two clones appeared on either side. In unison, they seemed to leap up, around, and over each other. It was sure to further annoy the boy, and further the confusion.

The next trap was something Luo saw ahead, and then he caught a brief glimpse of it's real treachery and almost fell prey to it. The first trick wire was diagonal in front of them. The sun hit it just right so that before you struck it, it fell into view, However, there were two cross wires right after it, requiring the flexibility to flip over or under the first one, and contort your body enough to fit through the four small spaces left by the 'X' pattern from the real trap. Starting to think his clones did a little too good of a job, Luo leaped forward and twisted his body, tucking his knees into his chest and landing on the branch under. His two clones followed suit and landed behind him, grinning in anticipation of what was to come.
