Honesty is better than pride.

His wise words lingered with her a while, resonating with her and possessing a deeper meaning than the monotone stallion even realized. Feeling herself color at the sound of his amusement Caely shifted her weight awkwardly. It was hard not to feel abashed at her lack of directional sense, if only she'd known that others of her lineage were having as difficult a time as she was the older mare might not have felt so out of place. That wasn't the only thing that bothered her though, this journey brought her back to a different time, one that made her heart ache with sorrow despite the fact that today should have been a joyous day.

Realizing that she'd become lost in her own thoughts the way old ladies do her blush darkened further with growing embarrassment. Not that the stranger seemed to notice. He was an odd fellow--almost lingering in a way as his lyrical tone drew out his words without hurry. The answer she received caused painted mare to fluster. Oh for heaven sake! He must have thought her an idiot with a question like that. Of course he was bound to see a large Oak tree, they were in a forest!

I.. w-well.. I mean to s-say. It.. It's rather d-distinct, you see. It's in-in a clearing. Caely stammered rather pathetically, completely up-in-arms at how useless she could be at times, though she was glad when the kind stallion seemed not to judge her for ineptitude, even agreeing to escort her in a round-about way. Y-yes! I.. I'm trying to reach it. M-my family is there, but I'm n-not very good with finding my way.

As if that wasn't obvious. When the unicorn turned in the direction and appeared to be awaiting her to take up pace with him, slender frame jumped and hurriedly pranced forward to catch up. Lowering her eyes awkwardly at his disarming grin Caely simply nodded wondering a bit down troddenly if she was capable of such a feat as talking and walking at once. Kasthem. It was a strange name, though certainly no stranger than some of the names in her own family and it had a friendly ring to it. Taken back by his statement, her hooves paused in place--almost as if to prove her incapable of the afore mentioned ability to multitask in regard to even the simplest things.

Funny...? T-that's an odd thing to say. I-I don't think I'm very amusing at all. She tried to protest, albeit pointlessly given that the blonde wasn't even aware if the context of the comment had been meant as a compliment or an insult. Picking up a hurried pace for the second time after realizing that she was again beginning to fall behind. I.. my name is Caelyndei, though.
