Squishy turned from the water, the small waves just lapping against her front hooves.
'Of course I wouldn't let you drown really..' she replied, before saying in a deadpan way. 'You might hurt a fish as you bob along.'
The pink mare rolled her eyes, looking skywards for patience..or the ability not to be suckered in by his puppy-eyed expression.
'I like you when you're not pouting.' she actually grinned, wondering how long he was going to keep up the act; after all if his feelings hadn't been hurt so far they likely weren't going to be damaged by her not wishing to drown herself to rescue someone acting reckless.

He tried to hold the act for a little while longer, but her response killed that thought almost instantly. He threw his head back and laughed, "Gee thanks. Remind me not to drown around you." He gave her a cheeky grin and started walking along the shoreline. His cheeks turned a little darker as he blushed slightly, "I'm glad you like me when I'm not pouting. I like you too." After all, what stallion wouldn't like to hear that he was liked by a pretty mare? "So, what do you like to do?" he asked to change the subject.

Thought so.. she eyed him, letting him know the jig was up. Of course that was not to say there would be no point when she would be harsh enough not to hurt his feelings as they got to know each other, but she hoped that being male he might bear it better.
'I shall remind you of that also.' she quipped, skipping lightly back as the tide slowly began to turn, the waves heading in land.
'Other than causing you to blush?' Squishy had seen that darkening, and had to comment on it, was he getting sweet on her? She'd heard of that love at first sight thing, but always thought that was a crock.
'I travel, I look after my friend and make sure she hasn't forgotten where she lives. She has a very bad memory.'

He sputtered while trying to form a response. He hadn't even realized he'd been blushing! Mortified, he shuffled his left front hoof in the wet sand and mumbled "Fine fine. You can remind me." He'd never had a mare compliment him before so it was a new experience for him. Coughing, he responded to her statement about what she liked to do.
"Yes, traveling is always good. It's fun to see new places and make new friends." He gave a small frown, "I'm sorry for your friend. Does she get on well otherwise?"

'I will..' Squishy turned on him the sweetest, and nicest smile she could conjure up - though she was terribly out of practice, she was sure she could manage some flirting and see where his mind was at.
'Travelling is okay, depending on the weather of course. I never wander in the winter, it's too miserable.'
She gave a short snort at his question.
'She's perfectly fine, despite being the most memory deficient Soquili I've ever known, she's managed to land her second mate, and has already had three children. I'm not sure how she does it..well I suppose I could hazard a guess, she is also by far the most cheerful and friendly mare you'll ever meet as well.'

All Porfiiro could manage was a flustered squeak as sh flirted with him. Oh well that was nice, she'd really think he was intelligent and worth talking to now. The stallion kicked himself mentally and struggled to reply, "Yes well," he started out in a slightly higher pitch than his normal tone. He stopped and coughed, "There are other qualities that are appealing aside from cheerful and friendly."

Squishy laughed to herself and edged closer, bumping him with her nose before moving away again to see what reaction that would elicit. So far it seemed that he was sweet on her, or at least found her attractive enough to have a reaction...which was nice she supposed, she couldn't remember if that had ever happened before!
'Yes? What like, do tell me what you look for if you don't find those to be the most appealing.' she walked a few steps from him, stopping when her hoof made a different noise and gently dug at the sand, unearthing a cockle shell, whole and unbroken. She nosed it across the sand.
'Shell.'

Porfirio responded as any male would in the same situation. He eeped and fell back onto his rump. Hoping she hadn't noticed the fall, he scrambled to his feet and tried to answer. "Um..me? What I like? Well now let me see..." Right now what he would like was to whack his head against a tree for acting like an idiot thank you. He shook his head and thought about what he liked in a mare, "Hmm...well adventurous would be good. She's got to be quick-witted, willing to put up with me would be good. Someone who can temper my reckless tendencies." He looked at her and smiled to himself as he thought of a way to get her back, "Why, would you like to volunteer yourself for the position?"
He gave her a cheeky grin, fully expecting her to swat him with her tail. Now...he needed to get up and be ready to run in case there was a more...violent reaction.

Squishy caught the latter end of the movement.
'Sand still giving you problems? We aren't on a hill anymore.' she pointed out with a faint smirk. What had he really done? He looked faintly awkward but she decided not to put him through an inquistion.
She gave Porfirio a long look, deciding to play him at his own game, mostly because it was fun but always she wanted to see if was actually serious. Of course she often though about having a family, but lately she was her only companion, and often thought that maybe it would just never be for her.
'I might be..' she replied, arranging her face so that she looked serious, not willing to give herself away yet.

The puprle usdia looked like he had just been kicked. 'I think I might have preferred it...' he thought to himself dizzily. He kept opening and closing his mouth, looking more like a beached Seathi then an Usdia. He wasn't exactly sure how to respond. Part of him, a rather large part, was thrilled. The other part said to run like hell back to the teepee and hide for the rest of his life possibly.
He nodded to himself as his mind finally started processing things again (you could practically smell the smoke from the short Squishy had caused in his mental processes).
"Well in that case, I might be interested in you." Spirits he was nervous! She was probably going to laugh in his face and tell him it was all a joke. Well so be it. No risk, no reward and all that junk.

'Really, are you okay?' Squishy raised a brow in curiosity this time, dropped her snark and wit for the concern she did actually have for others when it was needed to be shown.
'You're like a fish out of water, gasping for air. What's up?' she moved back to his side, and then gave a small noise. There was she worrying about him, but was only nervous.
'Interested? What do you mean by that?' she asked. It might have been an obvious answer to most, but she wasn't a mare that had been inundated with romantic gestures.

Porfirio nodded, "I'm fine. Don't worry." He gave the mare a warm smile. It was now or never!
"What I mean by interested is, would you like to give it a try? I mean, a relationship. It might be...nice?" He finished weakly and gave a nervous chuckle. He really was an idiot when it came to mares.
"Let me try that again. Would you be interested in trying to have a romantic relationship with me?"

'Why?' she blurted out, not the best answer to hear straight away she realised as soon as she said it, but it was the first one that popped into her head. Why did he like her?
'I'm sorry.' she started again, looking relatively embarrassed at her unfortunate slip of the tongue, more first for her, maybe there was something to be said for this stallion, as he obviously bought out the best that she had within her.
'I'd like to get to know you, you're not at all put off by what I say and that confuses me greatly. I also think you're cute.' she confessed with a wry grin.
'I just want to know what about my charming personality you like.' Squishy laughed, moving to his side and nudging him with her shoulder.

He gave his own wry grin as he replied, "You mean aside from finding you pretty? You put up with me pretty well. You seem to have a good head on your shoulders. Besides, I think you might like when I go on an adventure." He smiled at her shyly.

'Put up with you?' Squishy echoed, her ears flicking as she said the words.
'Yes I suppose I have done, you've been pretty tough to handle, what with amiability, and generosity with compliments towards someone who doesn't deserve them..how ever did I manage?' she snorted in amusement at her own words. Yes, very hard to put up with..silly stallion.
'Pretty? Pretty name, pretty mare. Not what I've ever been called before, but you may think that if you wish. And yes, I'll adventure with you. I'm not a mare that panics over too much walking, or gets in a strop when she gets her mane and tail messed up.'
