As Luo's mother brought a plate of food she had wrapped for Fordon, Luo's father sat at the table watching the small television in the kitchen. "Haven't eaten all day huh? You must have been doing something pretty important to forget to eat. I heard Luo drained the marketplace finally. It's a good thing too, his uncle was getting restless about when he was gonna open his fish shop back up. To be honest it's probably a good thing for my sake he waited, now my brother doesn't smell like fish like he usually does. But I guess he'll be back to smelling like salmon tomorrow. Oh well."

"Thank you!" Fordon said taking the plate. then he chuckled at the remark Luos father had made "yes Lord Luo did drain all of the water. it was quite a sight to see!" then turning and sitting in the corner where no one could see his mouth Fordon ate. once he had cleared the plate he pulled his mask up and turned back to every one again. "my it has been a long day! so i heard that tomorrow is the funeral..."

Luo's father nodded slowly. "I bet it was a sight. That boy never ceases to amaze me sometimes. Don't tell him I told you, but he went through a phase where he wanted me to only call him Hito Wanizame. Never told me why, just liked hearing it when he returned. You're the only person apart from me he's shown those sharks to and lived to tell the tale." Lao then sighed deeply, closing his eyes while sipping his tea. "Yes, we got the notice Luo sent to all the houses. I never thought I'd have to attend another funeral this large. My mother died in the great shinobi wars. She was a field medic before they began demanding every squad have someone with at least minor knowledge of medical jutsu or practice. She got caught in the crossfire and my father and I had to bury her along with the other mist shinobi." Thinking on it for a moment, Lao smiled softly as he opened his eyes once more, changing the subject. "By the way Fordon, the television often reflects your face when you eat. You should feel more free in this household, afterall you've been here for almost a year now and we've seen the other stitches before. It isn't what's on the outside that makes a shinobi who they are, it's what's in here." Luo's father pointed at his heart as he looked at the television once more. "Plus, you're going to start encountering shinobi who's bodies have been altered to such a degree, in comparison you'd feel almost inadequate." Standing, Lao followed his wife as they both patted Fordon on the head walking out of the kitchen. "Turn off the television when you're finished will you? We're gonna get to bed early so we can arrive at the funeral as a family. You're welcome to walk with us if you'd like, although Luo has to lead the whole procession. We'll be right behind him though. Anyway, goodnight Fordon." With that, Lao and his wife went to bed.

Fordon was stunned. he knew that these people were nice but they had transcended the word with their actions. he pulled down the mask and wondered. with his left hand he touched the collar around his neck. 'no. that must stay on. so far the stitches and me living have been explainable, however a decapitation is not something a human can survive. it will be nice though not having to wear the mask.' Fordon let out a sigh. knowing that no one was around to see him Fordon loosened the stitches. he stretched and got comfortable. he always did hate not being able to do this but it was better then people knowing what he was. that would make it easier for others to start knowing. the more who know the easier it would get to know how to kill him. he watched some TV for about an hour then switched it off. walking outside Fordon loked up at the heavens. it was mysterious and beautiful. for a little bit he wanted to do nothing but stare up at the sky. then other wants entered his mind. the want to serve Lord Luo. the want to help. the want to have friends. for a moment there was a want for something else... no for a someone else... for one to feel for him, care and love him romantically. he went to the waters edge and looked down. staring back was his reflection. even with only star light Fordon could see his stitches on his face. he looked down at the palm of hand in front of him and the stitches were there too. he knew that was the reason which held him back. it was also the reason there were so few of his kind. because he could not have anyone there also made serving Lord Luo much easier and more important. "i think too much" he mutter and went to the garden. there once more he meditated and relaxed. he tightened up the stitches and once more allowed himself to sleep just like that. (sorry for the depressiveness of this post but it made things interesting to post)

((I liked that post. Wasn't depressing so much as though provoking. For your character at least.)) Wandering out onto the lake in front of his house, Luo stared up at the moon. He couldn't sleep, and he knew exactly why. He could never sleep soundly when his mind raced 1,000 miles a second. Holding his hands out, instantly, two water swords shot from the lake into his hands. He performed the two-bladed dance of the willows, a stunningly beautiful sword technique that seemed as if it should be on stage instead of the battlefield. He leaped in the air, twisting his body, landing with his right leg crouched, and his left leg extended. His left leg then swept around as his body twisted like a top before he leaped again forward with one leg up, both swords outstretched one in front, and one behind. He continued the dance, even improvising where he saw fit. His blades ran through the water causing it to ripple a bit as he continued to maneuver. It saddened him that someone as young as him had to bury men and women who have served this village literally under his father. He hated what was to come the next day. The looks of such grief on the faces of his people, his family. Their would be looks of anger towards him he was certain of it. He knew they didn't mean it, but as the leader of the village, it can't be helped that some feel it his fault their family members died. It was part of the grieving process, and Luo didn't feel emotionally ready to take on that responsibility. As he continued the sword dance, Luo looked up at the sky mid-flip. "Sensei, of all the things you taught me, you never taught me how to deal with the grief of my people. Why did the council pick me of all possible candidates for Mizukage sensei?" As Luo landed, he sighed, standing still for a moment. "I know you trained me," he muttered staring down at the moon's reflection, "But there must be more than just strength as why they picked me over the others. I mean Tares is more emotionally stable, he's an ANBU for god sakes. He should have been the perfect candidate for the position. Why did they pick me?" Shaking his head, Luo continued the dance. He never let anyone know, but he was often doubtful about how capable he was. He wondered if Zane felt the same way in Suna. That reminded him he needed to visit him and tell him what happened.

(Thank you. hahaha watch now that i posted this that so girl falls for him) As Fordon dreamt he could see see a young women. she was beautiful even though he could not clearly see her face. she was happy and being around him made her that way. as each moment pasted he was falling more and more for this women. they became very close and even came to love. after that the women asked him to take of his mask. when he did however she grew horrified. she would not come near him. every step he took to get closer she would get further away. he tried running but it didnt help. nothing could close this distance. she left and became a part of the world that he could not be in. then he heard a voice whisper "Your sins are these scars. these are your sins you bare." it faded into the distance. in the actual world Fordon mumbled in his sleep "my sins to bare.

(Haha. I love metaphors too.) As Luo finished the dance, he stopped the chakra flow to his feet, causing him to drop into the lake. Using chakra, he made himself heavier, sinking like a rock to the bottom. Laying under the water breathing normally, Luo looked up at the sky. It was the water which made him feel at peace. He always felt connected and at one with water. It put his mind at ease to be encompassed by it. Lying there, he sighed as bubble rose from his mouth. He often wondered why it was that he deserved to live while his fellow shinobi died. Sure there's a certain level of training, but reviewing the events in his head, some of them were literally throwing themselves at the Gobi, throwing with their bodies caution to the wind. All that dedication for the village. It was inspiring to know that he wasn't the only one who loved his village. But as he mulled it over, he wondered if they did it out of love for their country, or out of duty to him, the Mizukage. "This title, it's puts a lot of lives at risk. All for the sake of one life to be spared. Men and women are willing to let their lives go for the life of one man or woman. What makes the kage so much different from another person in the village? If anything, shouldn't the position grant you the ability to protect yourself, or rather throw your own life away for the lives of your people? There will always be someone with the title of 'kage', but human lives are not replaceable....well, without the use of forbidden jutsu anyway. It's just not logical. I would gladly give my life for another villager if I knew an ANBU member wouldn't appear out of nowhere and do it for me. I'm not handicapped, I mean part of the reason I was picked was because I'm supposedly the strongest ninja in this village. But who's to say I am? The ANBU member who gave his life for me may have been just as strong as I was and no one ever knew it." Luo sighed to himself as koi fish swam around his frame, as if intrigued by the new decoration in the pond. Luo's thoughts then drifted towards Fordon. "That's what worries me about that kid. Sometimes I wonder if he'd ever be capable of living on without me. Given that statement, I wonder if he would willingly take a hit for me not because it was his duty, but because it would be better for him to be gone and me live, than for him to live for so long without a fraternal bond. Sometimes I think his training is only in the hopes of being good enough to protect me, not because he wants to better himself. I think with training out of the village he'll grow more self sufficient. Having my family around him seems to be helping him loosen up a bit too, so maybe it's just companionship he seeks. His eyes did light up when I told him about Yochi. Maybe he'll be the new Hito Wanizame when I'm gone....I can't think so morbidly the night before a funeral. I better just try and salvage whatever rest i can." Stopping the chakra he was pumping around his body, he began to rise like a dead body would out of the water, spooking the koi fish as they swam away quickly. As he bobbed to the top, he pushed chakra out behind him until he laid on top of the water. Sighing, he stood and jolted his arms, water droplets flying from all sides of him as he and his clothes were rendered dry. Walking around the house to his balcony, he slid the door open, blowing out his candle and going back to sleep.

(extremely fascinating post. i like it. it gives a lot to think about.) Fordon awoke partially. it was the point where he could think and know but his body was for the most part still asleep. he sat there a thought for a moment about the funeral that was coming and the affect it must have on Lord Luo. 'he must be taking it hard even though it was not his fault. he did everything within his power. asking anything more is asking the impossible. but even more then that he does not realize why people are willing to give there lives for him. he does not realize that it is better for those ninja this way. rather than Lord Luo dying fro such a small matter that they can handle they give their lives. that way in the future when there is a threat that can be handled by no one except him their families will not be paying the price for their foolish self preservation. on top of that Lord luo is a good leader and organizer thus making those who know of him willing to follow. if such a man is struck down their will be equal mourning for him. people may lose faith or a person who is not worthy to lead may be put it charge. after all not every piece can be a king. even just simply in the eyes of the world Lord Luo-sama's death could cause problems. people might think the loss of such a a great man makes us weak and the other villages may invade. Lord Luo-sama must not realize some of the qualities that he has... i guess tomorrow ill remind him. he also does not realize why i follow him. the reasons at first were the same but now... he was the first person to show me kindness and show me a different way of thinking. its like seeing something in the light. you may return to the darkness but you'll still never see it the same way....' and slowly Fordon drifted into sleep unable to finish his train of thought.

Fordon awoke and got ready. in place of his normal grab he wore a black suit without the tie. his white shirt collar hung open but the black collar still hung around his neck. his mask was in place. his black hair was still wet from his bathing but it also had been combed. instead of the normal tangle of hair it was neat and sort of classy. he waited in the hall for the rest of the family. he planed to walk with them behind the lord Mizukage. it was gong to be a long day full of tears and mourning. next to him Fordon had an umbrella just incase the heavens joined in the crying.

Waking up, Luo sighed as he took a shower and changed. It was the same outfit he wore when he was a chuunin, even placing his headband through the belt loop like he used to, and wrapping the tapestry he wore around his waist around his neck like a scarf. The outfit was originally intended for mourning, but Luo wore it to intimidate his opponents as if to visually tell them this would be their last day. Grabbing an umbrella and walking towards the kitchen, Luo literally bumped into his grandfather as he turned the corned. His eyes almost went wide since he hadn't talked to him in two days. His body quickly lowered to bow to the man. "G-Grandfather Li, my apologies. I didn't..." before Luo could finish, his grandfather had struck him over the head with a newspaper. "Baka. Stop being so apologetic. I passed on the title of the head of the Ushio clan to you, and here you are bowing to one of your own. As a leader you cannot show any inferiority to subordinates, older or not. Especially as the leader of this village." Li stopped and sighed a bit, propping Luo back up to a standing position. Smiling he spoke to his grand son. "The willow grows by the rivers edge because that is where his father grew. But when the river dries, the willow does not weep, but waits for the heavens to deliver more rain. I know how you feel about this whole situation Luo, but there is nothing you can do now but look towards the future. Don't lose anymore sleep over this okay?" Putting a hand on Luo for a moment before finally passing him he muttered, "By the way, you're landing with the wrong leg. You've done that since you were young and as much as your father tried, he never could get you to do it right." Luo smiled a bit as he felt his grandfather behind him, their backs turned towards each other in the hallway as he muttered, "It's more efficient that way. Squads usually like to attack from the right instead of the left." "Hmph," Li said with a smile as he put his hands behind his back and continued down the hallway. As he turned a corner he muttered to his grandson, "You should tell your father that." Walking into the kitchen, Luo ate quickly, there was no time for taking it slow. Asking his mother where his father was, he quickly learned he had left earlier in the day to collect the Damascus family so that they walked behind the Ushio clan. The two families have been allies since anyone in the village could remember. Standing outside on the lake, it began to rain heavily. Looking up, Luo thought to himself, ((Thanks! Yeah, thought provoking is what I was going for.))

(in that case you nailed it.) Fordon sighed as spun the umbrella in his hands. he could here the shuffling in that house and waited. Fordon didnt like the feel today had. it was too dark and quiet. it gave an ominous feeling to it that put Fordon on edge. no matter how hard he tried he could not relax. his instincts were telling him there was death in the air.

(Thanks.) Finding the time to meditate while his father got the Demascus family, Luo calmed himself for the day ahead, and meditated on the words of his grandfather. He needed to be strong for his village, for his people. After meditating, Luo paced back and forth at the front door waiting for his father. He was wondering what was taking so long, finding himself a bit nervous.

After a the walk through the pouring rain, the entire Demascus family arrived at the Ushio compound. Sares (Old-man) Demascus walked up to the front gate and received a salute from the guards. "I will always miss getting those" Sares chuckled, he needed to laugh on this sad day, Sares needed to show his family that he was the foundation that they could all lean on, he was their for them, like young mizukage Luo, was their for all of the village. Sares rang the bell to signal his families arrival, the bell toned lonely in the pouring rain. LT didnt say much this morning, nor did most of his family for that matter. LT felt so low, so blue... miserable, that was the word he was looking for. Not only could LT talk, but he didnt eat either. For some reason he just couldnt, even when mama Res pressured him. But the entire Demascus family was not in the best of moods, except for Old-man, he could always crack a smile in the worst of situations. It always seemed to lighten his pain that LT held in his heart.

Li Ushio walked out of the household holding an umbrella over his body. He was followed in a triangular pattern by the Ushio clan in its entirety, Luo's father and mother Lao and Kosame Ushio. Being thirty in all, they stood facing the Damascus family and bowed all at once as the other family did as well. It was a ritual between both clans to show the equal respect between them. It was then that the guards opened the two front doors as Luo walked out from being inside a moment to compose himself. Despite his inner feelings, Luo walked down the front steps of his house as if the mood of the day had no effect on him emotionally, his chin slightly raised and an umbrella in his hand. As he walked in front of the Damascus family, he only gave a glance to LT. He could tell by the look in his eyes that their was a mutual feeling between them about the situation, Luo just wasn't allowed to show it. Walking in front of his family, the Ushio's filed in behind Luo, followed by the Damascus family. It was the beginning of a long day ahead as they walked together to the graveyard.
EXIT.
