Well, Sony figured out that something time tested and reliable is the way. They didn't go redesigning their controllers from scratch with every generation. It's pretty much been the same since PS1, with a few modifications obviously, but it's still just as comfortable, and people are used to it.

i own a ps3 but i dident buy it for any specific game. i got it becuse i could play my old games on it. and becuse i just like playstation.

i dont own a xbox for many reasons
1. i hate the controllers there meant 4 people with big hands, which i am not.

2. not buying a system which every game i want almost is on my ps3 already.

3. internts free on ps3.

Same here. I don't like the XBOX360 consoles..I just don't like how the buttons are placed. The playstation controller seems much easier to handle. And like I said earlier, there aren't any games I want that aren't on my PS3. and it's got a blu-ray player. So overall I think it's a better console, for me anyway.

you know how many people tell me it was a waste of money for me to buy my ps3 with out an hdtv. (which i still dont have) but i bought it for the fun not for the graphics (good thing too cause 2 months later i lost my job lol) i got 2 blue ray movies both harry potter. i am totally buying avatar when it comes out on blue ray tho i hope they do a blue ray/dvd pack like harry potter did. i think xbox controller is like in creation day some one got bored and was messing around with where they go and just forgot to put them back haha....

Anyone who says, "PS3 graphics look like PS2 without an HDTV" is full of crap though. Or blind. I still don't have an HDTV, and the PS3 games (obviously) still look significantly better than the previous generation. It's a stupid way of thinking. The polygon count and texture resolution on the PS3 is ridiculously higher than PS2. It's impossible not to notice the difference, unless you're playing on a very, very small TV and are sitting 20 feet away from it.

define very small cry my tv is 20 inch and not a hdtv, or any thing its over 10yrs old.

and when i play my ps3 on it. well the graphics do look alot better then the ps3 dispite the fact that its old. the only issue with my tv is u cant read the font on it very well so it makes it hard to play some or alot of the new games....

Yeah, that's gotta suck. Luckily my TV is like a 15 inch LCD, so even though it doesn't have true 1080 HD, it still has 480p which is progressive, so at least it's nice and sharp.
But I actually don't have too many games that have very small text, so it's all good.

i am trying to think way i can earn money to get a tv. i can cross stitch so maybe that be good way. its just sometimes floss can cost 50.00 4 one protect since i dun got tons of color. and maybe ill make bird toys. or cross stitch names or something....

But you know, sometimes, I think games actually look BETTER on a Non-HD, and even a nonLCD TV.
Yeah, with HD you get huge pixel resolution, and amazing detail. But you know what that detail show you? All the IMperfections of a game. Whereas, if you play that game on a regular TV, it looks that much more like you're playing an actual CG animated movie, it looks great.
But on HD, you can see all the little details that are wrong. The texture resolution comes out, and you can see the bluriness, and things like that. The compression in the pre-rendered cinematics is that much more apparent. All the flaws come out, so I gotta say, it's a double edged sword.
Ultimately, I'd still pick HD over regular TV, but still, every time I play a PS3 game on my regular TV, it looks that much more like watching a 3D animated movie.

Well, maybe it's because I'm a 3D modeler and texturer myself, but I always look for and pick out imperfections in a video game. It doesn't ruin the experience for me, but I'm still aware. But in SD, it's slighly blurry, because it's interlaced instead of progressive, and the resolution is lower, so in terms of the format itself, for an SDTV, it's that much easier to make things look that much better, because it's harder to pick out the imperfections since there's less detail. As a result, you get... Well... Perfection, I guess.
