"I heard a -rumor- that it was going to be all the schools..." She flashed another grin. "I think that's why it not done yet, either because it was -just- a rumor or because they haven't selected a neutral ground for it to be held on... I think originally it was going to be around Christmas, but then again with that...organ smuggling thing ..." She shuddered at the thought, and remembered the barrier. But it wasn't like she could mention -that-.

"It'll be interesting to see them pull that off." And just as interested to see how many fights broke out at the prom as well, particularly between the Crystal Academy and Meadowview girls.
"Uggh... It also means I have more shopping to do." She shook her head. "... And a date to find too, but all of that can wait. For now, at least. I'll have to keep my ear out." She chuckled before finding a topic to shift to. "So you shop here a lot? I mean, besides the incense and the jewelry?"

"Oh... sometimes, depends on my mood to be honest? It's -fantastic- for christmas gifts, but I like to disassemble things and put them back together." She reached to a lacy cuff around her wrist that had a middle ribbon that looked like it was Batik against the black lace.
"But that's more because no one -really- carries lolita here... and I have the most fun with that."

"I don't think my mother would've liked anything from here... I got her a sweater for Christmas. Father got a new watch..." Christmas at the Carden house was usually pretty bland, especially now that her grandmother... Now that the family was smaller.
"So you sew?" She took that new distraction, brows lofting in a show of interest. "That's amazing. I wish I could sew, sometimes at least, I'm just... Not that good with my hands outside of piano playing." That was a lie and she knew it, but she kept smiling anyways. She didn't need to tell everyone that she knew how to crochet.

"Just a little, my sister is the -really- talented one, she makes outfits from scratch, I normally re-assmble existing outfits." She said just a little wistfully.
"I'm afraid I don't play any instruments but I wish I did... I like to pretend I can sing, but you know that first hand!" She grinned.

"Everyone likes to pretend they can sing." She laughed, shaking her head. "That's why shows like Idol of Destiny are so popular... The difference between you and them is that I think you were pretty good at it." She grinned. "I thought everyone sounded pretty good, really... It's why I came outside to join everyone."

"I can't say everyone who was there was all that well meaning, but it felt right anyways... Something about the spirit of Christmas just lifting everyone, getting us really in touch with things." She nodded slowly, her mind seeming to drift off for a moment before she found herself wandering over to the counter so that she could make her purchases.
"So... I was thinking of heading to the mall from here. Would you be interested in tagging along? I mean, I could totally understand if you had other plans, but... Shopping's not as much fun alone."

"No plans at all!" She said delighted and "I'd love to come!" She beamed. "Let me just check out, if your willing? Unless you want to look here more?"
She waved her hand around the store, at the bright cloth and silver ornaments that littered the store, down to the magnetic stones that could be linked together into bracelets and cheep polished stones.

"I think I've found all I'm going to need here for now." She grinned, holding up her little black paper bag by its small handles. "I'm ready to go whenever you are... Maybe we could grab a bite to eat at the food court or something. How are you with chopsticks for something other than your hair?"

Ume checked out as she answered, a few charms, some crystals of various colors and a few hair pins and bits of colorful cloth and black lace.
"I'm alright with them I think? I don't drop things anymore?" She replied perkily. "OH!... do you mind book stores at all? Theirs a book I would -love- to see if they have in stock if we happen by one."

"Book stores, book stores..." She tried to remember the last time she'd walked into one willingly and almost cringed, wondering just when she'd drifted down that particular road to ignorance. "Oh, god, it's been forever... Which means it's probably a good idea. I just acquired a new roommate at school and I don't want her to think that the only things I read are text books, ugh. We should definitely swing by one of those..."

"Maybe I can recommend a few books to you?" she offered, and waited politely for Cordy to exit into the street beyond.

'The kind with pictures...' was the first thing to come to her mind but she avoided saying that, knowing it would come out completely wrong and she just couldn't have that. Instead she paused to think for a moment before giving an actual response. "Well, I used to have a few art books... A 'How To' here and there along with some on the works of my favorite artists. Beyond that, I love a good romance..."

Ume looked considering. "I'm... not so good with those, But I'm -sure- they will have some!" She said with enthusiasm. "They have this amazing list of recommendations lists, I mean if they have true crime and criminology recommendations they -must- have romance recommendations!"
