"As long as you're ok..." Lyndon's mumbled words seemed to be drowned out in the on blistering wind. The snow was starting to stick in his antlers, weighing his head down slightly. He slung the net over his shoulder and beckoned Qiuyue to follow. She looked like she was very cold, so Lyndon wanted to get there as fast as possible. The way to the cave was clear in his mind, even with the newly fallen snow in his path. He made his way forward a few feet, checking to see is Qiuyue was still following him.
The snow crunched under his steady hovers. The cave was near, he could tell. This was a cave that he had come to many times when he stayed out too late to return home. "We're almost there," he turned back to see the faint outline of Qiuyue. He stopped to let her catch up, then took her hand to help her up into the cave. He clambered in after her and set the net down. "Here's my little, home away from home!" he grinned wide. "I'll get some more wood, be back in a sec.!" and with that he disappeared into the whiteness of the snow. I held her hand! he thought and blushed, I can't believe I did that...

Yue smiled at Lyndon as she followed him through the storm. The wind was picking up now and it started to sting at Yue's ears, making them twitch furiously. The snow began to collect in her hair and in her fur, and it blocked her sight. She started to panic and picked up her pace to stay near her friend. She was, in fact, very cold, and she wanted to get to the cave as quickly as possible.
When they started to arrive, Quiyue felt a presence at her side. She couldn't exactly tell because the snow blocked her view, but she could see the outline of Lyndon beside her, and then she felt her hand being held. A blush rose to her cheeks and she fell dead silent as she was lead to the cave. She placed the firewood down and, still blushing, looked to Lyndon. "B' qui'k. I don' wan'a h've t' look f'r you in th's st'rm." Once he left, Yue couldn't help but think: He held my hand!

The icy wind wiped though Lyndon's hair and chilled him town to the bone. Ive got to get some more wood he thought to himself as he made his way farther from the cave. "There should be a lager amount of fallen tree somewhere aro-" but before he finished he had stumbled upon the site. These fallen trees were perfect for there wood and easy to gather from. He quickly went to work on the getting the wood so that he was able to make it back to Qiuyue before he froze. There was an upside to this cold, it cooled off his hot cheeks.
Lyndon carefully made his way back to the cave. He carried wood in both arm and some in his antlers. With each step, he made sure that he wouldn't fall or drop anything. With this strategy he slowly but surely made his way to the cave. Soon he reached the cave with loads of wood in tow. He plopped them down to his sides and removed the few in his antlers. "I hope I got enough!" he laughed quietly and brushed the snow off of himself.

Qiuyue shivered. Even in the shelter of the cave, some of the wind still swept around the cave's entrance and chilled the centauress to the bone. Her legs were tucked under her body and she had pulled her sweater sleeves over her hands. Every once in a while, she would blow into the sleeves, hoping to warm her hands with her breath. No matter what she tried, though, the cold still seeped in and she kept shivering. Yue's eyes looked towards the small pile of firewood in the corner where she had dropped them. The centauress bit her lip. She hoped that Lyndon would be back soon and they could get a fire going. In the meantime, Yue began talking to herself and making up poetry to calm herself.
"As... as th' youn' b'rd 'n th' tree spre'ds it's w'ngs, i' looks down a' th' groun' b'low an' says: 'Wha' am I th'nk'ng, try'n' t' fly when th' far groun' is hard 'n' cl'd?'" Yue started of thinking up words on the spot, and the sound of her own voice soothed her nerves, but she stopped when she heard a sound in the distance. She smiled at Lyndon as he returned to the cave, and the smile spread wide when Qiuyue saw all of the firewood her friend had collected. "Tha's p'rfect! Le's m'ke a fire n'w! ...Bu'..." She looked at Lyndon, slightly embarrassed. "...I dun know h'w t' make a f're..."

Lyndon chuckled "Then I'll have to show you how to start one!" He began to search the cave for two perfect stones to star a fire. Soon he found them, one a deep red color and another a reflective blue. He gather some tinder so that when the rocks sparked, the tinder would easily catch fire. "Now we need to place the wood in a tepee shape..." He concentrated on remembering Andrew's teachings. He had attempted to make a fire by himself many times, but only a few were a success. He wanted to be able to impress Qiuyue.
After a few minutes of striking the rocks on one another, he got the tinder to catch and, with the greatest care, put it into the tepee full of branches and twigs. He blew on it gently until the wood caught fire and with a satisfied grin, he turned to Qiuyue and muttered, "Nothing to it!..." He wiped a bead of sweat from his brow "Now we can cook up some fish!" he giggled excitedly, quickly muttering under his breath, "And maybe listen to some more of your poetry?"

Yue smiled at her friend. "Yoo h've 'xp'ri'nce w'th fire?" She watched carefully as Lyndon rooted around the cave, picking up stones and comparing pieces of wood. While he scuttled around, the centauress found a small stick and scooted herself over to where some of the snow was piling up in the cave. With the stick, she began to draw simple pictures of flowers. She missed flowers so much... how they looked and felt... their unique scents... She sighed slightly. Summer seemed so far away, and that's when all of the flowers would be in bloom. She sat quietly and remembered that open field in the forest filled with wildflowers that she used to go to all the time when she was younger. As she reminisced, she could faintly recall the time when she first met Lyndon.
Qiuyue looked over to Lyndon to see his progress and was surprised to see a fire now burning in the small cave. She hurried to it excitedly and put her hands carefully in front of it to warm them up. She saw how happy Lyndon was with the fire and felt guilty for not watching him and paying attention. She pushed her thoughts aside. "Yeah.. f'sh w'uld be 'x'llent r'ght n'w." Yue gazed into the fire, but her ears perked slightly when she heard Lyndon talk about her improvised poetry. A blush rose to her cheeks. "Um... A- All r'ght..."

Lyndon smile, "Yep! My bro Andrew taught me all I know!" The grin on his face told a story of how much Andrew and Lyndon had spent together. He had noticed Qiuyue had draw something in the snow, so with great care he made and excuses to head in that direction. "Let me get us a couple of fish! I'll do all the cleaning over there so that it won't be mess over here." He quickly grabbed a couple of fish and with great precision of his small hunting knife he kept with the net. It was kept there becuse he only used it for cleaning the fish.
As he went to work, he noticed small pictures of flowers, So she likes flowers a lot... He thought as he cleaned. He finished and quickly got back to her, "Here's one for you, Qiuyue," He handed her a fish neatly splayed on the end of a stick, "And one for me." He smiled as he put it into the warm fire. He greatly appreciated this warmth in the cave. "Now let's hear some poetry." he cooed at her , waiting with great interest.

Qiuyue thankfully took the fish and laid it into the fire, just as Lyndon had done. Already she felt a bit warmer from the warm burning flames, but the wind picked up occasionally and sent a small chill down her spine. As she turned the browning fish over slightly in the fire, she smiled. Lyndon probably heard her poetry from earlier. "Mmkay. I'll try..." Yue looked around the cave for some inspiration for her poetry when her mind rested on flowers again. She began speaking.
"'N th' warm days 'f summ'r, th' lov'ly bloss'm blooms. It shuts its'lf fr'm th' world wh'n th' sky is full 'f gloom. It's pet'ls 're like th' sat'n gowns 'f beaut'f'l g'rls who l've 'n th' towns an' whose sm'les ligh' up a wh'le room." Yue sighed a little and smiled at her creation, her words hanging in the hair like a perfume. Inwardly, she giggled at her still-poetic thoughts and she regarded Lyndon. "'Ow 's it? D'd you l'ke it?" Yue blushed a little. "It's r'lly j'st am'teur stuff, b't I've been pract'c'n'."

"That was great! Do you practice a lot?" Lyndon smiled warmly at Qiuyue. He was very glad that she would actually let him hear her poetry. It was music to his ears. But he wasn't going to blurt that out to her. He rotated the cooking fish, the aroma of well cooked fish slowly started to fill the cave. It blocked out the cold and filled his thoughts of warm summer nights. As he was almost lost in his memories, he felt an odd breeze. On coming from deeper in the cave. He had never actually been back there.
"Hey Qiuyue? You wanna explore this cave? It feels like there's a warm breeze coming from deep inside..." He looked back, taking his fish off the fire and let it cool. "Or maybe it's just my imagination." He didn't make eye contact. Lyndon didn't want to look silly in font of her. Why am I always trying to impress her? he mentally sighed. The cave did start to interest him. What could possibly be there?

A fierce blush crept over Qiuyue's cheeks at the compliment of her poetry. "Mm... Not r'lly... I mean, no' a lot... Well, a' le'st, I do k'nda pr'ct'ce 'n my sp're t'me..." Yue chuckled to herself, embarrassed that Lyndon liked her poetry so much. She wasn't sure why, but she felt... happy knowing that he liked her work. The feeling in her confused her, and she pushed it to back of her mind, diverting all of her focus at staring into the depths of the fire. The smell of cooking fish filled her nostrils and made her even hungrier. But her mind was taken off of the fire and the fish when she felt an almost warm breeze coming from deeper inside the cave. She cautiously stood.
"Um... S're, we c'n ch'ck it out. Bu' you've ne'er 'xplor'd th' c've on your own?" Despite the warmth of the fire and the odd breeze, Qiuyue felt a chill run down her spine. She felt uncomfortable, like there was some dark, evil thing down there, but there was no way she would let Lyndon see that she was afraid. No way in hell. With a new burst of energy, Yue stood up a little straighter. "Yeah! Le's go an' see wh't we can f'nd! It'll be an 'dvn'ture! Let's go!" Without thinking, Yue reached out and grabbed Lyndon's hand in her own, and she started walking towards the back of the cave. One part of her told her not to be a fool and reminded her of the potential danger lurking there, but the other part was the one that knew she was holding Lyndon's hand and told her to press on, no matter what.

Lyndon was stunned. Is she holding my hand? Why did she grab my hand!? As he was mentally freaking out, he stood completely still, almost as if he was frozen. Suddenly he was pulled out of his thoughts by the warmth of his cheeks. He quickly released her hand and turned back to the fire. "Uh... Um, w-we need some light. I-it'll be dark in there." He hid his face as he gathered some wood from the fire to make a make-shift torch. He then started to walk ahead of Qiuyue, but not before he grabbed her hand so that he could lead the way.
The deeper the went into the cave the warmer it got. Son there was moss evident among the rocks. As curious Lyndon was, he could shake the feeling that there was something odd about all this. He couldn't help but shiver at the thought of something going wrong. But he had to be brave in front of Qiuyue! He wanted to be highly respected by her. He began to notice how soft and small her had was. How beautiful her face looked in the glow of the firelight. A slight blush crept up his cheeks and he turned his attention back to the path ahead.

Qiuyue held her breath for several seconds after Lyndon made a torch, went ahead of her, and lead her with his hand. The blush once again crept up to her cheeks and prevented her for saying anything. She could see how fearless Lyndon was and how confident he was and it almost made her smile. She felt safe around him. Without thinking, Yue gently grabbed his arm and drew herself closer to him. She hadn't felt this happy in a long while. The blush remained on her cheeks as her head rested lightly on her friend's shoulder. Yue smiled.
As they drew farther into the cave, Yue could definitely tell that it was getting warmer. She started to wonder if there was an underground hot spring nearby with all of the moss growing on the rocks. "Hey Lynd'n? D' you kn'w 'f any h't spr'ngs n'rby? 'Cause it's real real w'rm down 'ere."

Lyndon blushed profusely. He had never been so close to a girl before. His mind took a second to process her words. "That would be amazing! I've never been to a hot spring. Are there any fish there?" he shifted about excitedly until he stepped in a warm puddle. "What the-" but his sentence was cut off by the wonderful sight he say before him.
The cave had opened up into a wide room with stalactites on the dome shaped ceiling and stalagmites surrounding a clear pool of water. "This is amazing... Ouch!" The touch had burned out without him noticing, but instead of the cave being dark, there were odd luminescent rocks that surrounded the pool. They glowed an ominous pale blue. Ignoring the chills that ran down his spine, Lyndon quickly stuck his hands in the water. "Wow! Its really warm!" he smiled up at Qiuyue, "Wanna go for a dip?" He grabbed her hand made his way into the clear, warm water.

Qiuyue smiled at Lyndon and his fish obsession when she herself stepped into a puddle. She drew back cautiously, and then looked up to see the wonder before her. The rocks seemed to glow beautifully and, as she predicted, there was indeed a hot spring. The eerie glow of the rocks sent a chill down Qiuyue's spine and made her tighten her grip on Lyndon's arm. Somehow, the view was somewhat awe inspiring, and it almost compelled Yue to make up some poetry right there, but she held her tongue. Her eyes drifted towards Lyndon. The way he seemed to glow from the light of the rocks... the way his eyes glittered... Yue's lip began to bleed again from her bite, as if she thought pain would force those thoughts away.
Yue was jerked from her musings by Lyndon jerking her hand and motioning to the water. Her eyes widened and she started to hesitate. The water did seem inviting, and she was stifled in her sweater, but she felt some apprehension at taking off her sweater in front of her friend. The centauress began to stammer. "W.. Well, I.. I mean... I j-... I j'st..." Yue couldn't seem to find the words to place her nervousness. Underneath her fear, though, was a sort of longing and a want: a want that Qiuyue herself did not understand.

Lyndon sighed dejectedly, "It's ok. I understand." He put on a small smile. He felt his face drop soon after. He turned his head away from Qiuyue so that she wouldn't see how sad he looked. "Um... Well.." he played with the water to distract himself, "It is beautiful isn't it?" He turned back to her only to see her lip bleeding. "A-are you ok?" He quickly took of his jacket and dipped the sleeve in the water. "Here," he handed the jacket to her, "Put this on you lip to stop the bleeding." His eyes never left hers as he slowly settled on a warn rock near the edge of the water.
Lyndon's fingers slowly danced on the surface of the water as he watched the few fish near the bottom. He noticed that there were two large chambers at the bottom that allowed water and fish to travel through. He would never be able to hold his breath long enough to even get down there, so he waved that idea from his mind and let it wounder. He started to think of Qiuyue. She probably hates me... He sighed and closed his eyes.
