"The only constellation I can really remember is the big dipper. I remember when I used to sit outside and just stare at it for hours on end," She looked back through the telescope and sighed. "What's your favorite? Oh! Do you know where other constellations are?"

Miyako grinned. "That's why I have the other star map, the one I bought. It's got the constellations marked on it, although I know most of them myself by now." She started pointing to stars. "See those three bright ones that line up really well? That's part of the constellation Orion, the mighty hunter." She pointed to the rest of the constellation. "Those three, known as Orion's Belt, make him easy to find. And over there, is Scorpius. Scorpius becomes visible just as Orion is disappearing, see? That's because in mythology, Scorpius killed Orion. Later in the night, Orion will be gone, and Sagittarius the centaur will rise behind Scorpius, chasing him, because Sagittarius killed the giant scorpion that killed Orion." Miyako blushed. "Sorry, I like the mythology behind them, too."

Silence listened in awed silence. She followed her friends gaze and found the constellation of Orion and felt she wanted to stay and watch for the others that were to come later.
"Oh no! Go on, it's fascinating. I don't know much about the stars except that some have been made from the planets exploding. Dwarf stars I believe they're called. That's just about it though. That and the north star usually points you back home."

Miyako gave the majerae a confused look. "Stars formed from planets exploding? I thought it was the other way around. And dwarf stars are dying stars, old ones that don't have much energy anymore." The little fae turned the telescope, focusing it on a distant point of light. "There's a white dwarf, although it's hard to see. They don't give off much light, since they don't have much energy left in them."

"Ah, I haven't talked much about stars ever since . . . Well since my mother passed onto a better life among the night sky herself. She taught me a lot about them, mainly how they came to be," Silence placed on finger gently to her forhead and took up a in-depth thought position before looking to Miyako with a smile. "But your right!" she exclaimed looking through the telescope, "Do you think all Faes take a place among the heavens?"

The star-speckled fae furrowed her brow. "You know, I never really thought about it? I don't know why we would, but I don't know why we wouldn't, either." She grinned. "I know just where I hope I'd end up." She quickly set the telescope again, such that when she looked through it, Silence would see two interacting galaxies, with gas and starstuff streaming from one towards the other.

The night-sky colored Majerae looked to Miyako as she spoke and smiled warmly, "It'd be amazing to be one of the stars," she said and moved to walk toward the edge and stopped just short of the cliff. Looking over, she saw nothing but black. Then turning her gaze back toward the sky, Silence sighed and took in a deep breath of fresh air. "You know, I believe the sky started as a black canvas and was filled with those stars by ever Fae's spirit. I know it sounds strange, but who knows how they came to be."
Walking back over toward Miyako, she looked through the telescope once more and awed at the sight. "It's almost like they're dancing with each other."

Miyako laughed. She'd never thought of it that way, but she rather liked the idea. "Yeah, I guess it does. And maybe one day we'll be part of that dance... wouldn't that be amazing?"
She looked up, without the telescope. "The stars being the souls of faes, the night sky populated by all those who've gone before us... I like the idea too, I think. As long as, wherever I am, my friends and loved ones are there too." She sat down, leaning her back against a rock, within reach of the telescope but not currently using it. "I've shown you some of my favorite stars... what are some of yours?"

"That'd sure be something!" Silence took her attention from the galaxies to look at Miyako with a goofy smile.
"I can't wait until the day I get to be with my family again. It gets lonley sometimes, but looking up to see the stars at night comforts me in a way," she adjusted the telescope on a galaxy that had a bright yellow middle, with the gasses streaming out in a spiral design, fading out to a light blue from a dark blue in the middle. "The Milky Way galaxy is one of my favorites, it's one of the first my mother showed me." Silence took a step back, and sat on a rock, staring up at the stars. "In the Milky Way is the constellation Cassiopeia. Or the Queen's chair, if you can find the upside down W in the brightest portion of the Milky Way, then you can see Cassiopeia. It's a hard one to spot. It took me almost three years to find!"

Miyako frowned. "Your... family's all gone, then? It's just you?" She let it drop, though, unless the other fae wanted to talk about it. Instead she went to peak through the telescope. "Oh, I haven't seen that one before. It's beautiful." When Silence continued, speaking now about Cassiopeia, Miyako stood back up. "Oh, I think I know where that is..." She grabbed her star chart to double-check, and then pointed upwards. "Up there, right?"

Silence looked at her star chart, distracted for a moment, then nodded, "You're absolutely correct." Smiling, she moved around Miyako to adjust the telescope again, "I'm all that's left of my family. No siblings, and my mother waited almost her whole life to find that one Fae who was her soul mate. So she was pretty old when she found him, and my father as well was old, but they loved each other. They both passed about five years after I was born." She didn't mind talking about her family, especially since she had someone to talk to. It made any feeling of lonlieness(sp) dissipate. "How about you, are you an only child?"
"Ah ha! There you are," Silence said to herself and backed up a step from the telescope. "Lupus, the Wolf, loops around to the southwest of Scorpius. Lupus was my father's favorite constellation."

Miyako nodded. "Yeah, I'm an only child. Although I live with a friend who's almost like a sister. Luckily for me she doesn't mind the weird hours I keep!"
Miyako laid back on the ground, to better look up at the constellations. "I remember Lupus... Did you know it used to be part of Capricorn? He's the centaur, remember, and a great hunter. I've never heard if it was supposed to be running from him, or hunting with him. I think I like it better if they're working together."

Silence smiled and swung her legs back and forth, "That has to be fun living with another! I bet you get to do all kinds of things together."
She stopped swinging her legs and gazed up at the constellations. It was weird at how much she remembered from so many years ago. "I had no idea he used to be part of Capricorn. It'd be wicked to know how they came to be together; do you know the story? I vaguely recall the time my father told me it, I was just a kid at the time," Silence turned her head to look down at Miyako, "You know, I'm glad I came up here tonight. I found an awesome Fae."

Miyako grinned. "Yeah, we get along pretty well, and it's nice to have someone to do things with. Although since I stay up so many nights, we don't have all that much overlap in when we're there."
She followed Silence's gaze. "No, I don't remember the story. I know somewhere I can try to look it up, though; there's a library near here that has a lot of information on the stars and constellations." She looked over and caught the majerae's eye, and then smiled. "Yeah, I'm glad you came, too. Do you want to start meeting up? I bet we'll see more if there's two of us looking, and you'd be welcome to use my telescope."

"It'd be wonderful if we could start hanging out! I could even try to map out the stars if you wouldn't mind me sort of lagging on information," she clapped her hands together joyfully and smiled wide. "I'll have to head over to the library too. Which way is it? I could head over there in a day or two after I get everything at home all straightened up." Silence looked up at the sky and noticed it began to lighten a fraction. Frowning, she looked toward the stars and sighed. "Sometimes I wish the night would never end. But alas, it fades away so quickly it seems."
