"Once your current journey is over, perhaps you could come back and roam with me then," she tried to offer a smile. "Its even more beautiful in the spring, you should return then. We could fly up the mountain side. It's a lovely view..." she rambled.

His insides froze, no one had ever made such an offer to him. Part of him wanted to leap at the opportunity but he was cautious. This mare knew nothing about him, why would she offer to spend time with him? She had no concept of what he had done, what he had seen... would she still feel the same if she knew? He felt part of himself close up at the thought... he suspected the answer would be no. "I would like that." He spoke in a low voice, almost a mumble. It was rare for him to speak from the heart about what HE wanted, usually he did what others needed. He looked around and then his eyes caught sight of her, the mist coloured pelt drifting and dancing before his eyes as he took in a few of the delicate patterns, "I think it is beautiful now." WHAT? He froze on the spot, had he really just said that? How unlike him, how ungentlman like, coughing softly he spoke once more and lowered his head slightly. "Forgive me lady Tuulikki"

She didn't really catch (comprehend) what had slipped from the stallion's lips. She turned as she heard him speaking, "Forgive you for saying you'll come back?" she inquired, "That's silly, I've invited you!" she turned her head back down the path, the hills getting more visible.

"In the spring, this forest is lush with green plants, berries, and the small creatures that come from hiding...and the fields," she turned and beamed at him. "The fields are full of beautiful wild flowers. It's really a sight to see." she nodded to him.

There was something...different about this stallion. He didn't seem as talkative as the others she had met, he wasn't inquisitive, but he seemed to have his heart in a good place.

Beauty. Beauty was always in the eye of the beholder. And to Haishan Fai beauty was all around him, in the breath of the world. Yet he also knew of the evils, the shadows that lurked all around you and prepared to take everything from you without a moments warning. It had happened to much before. Perhaps that was the truth to his 'coldness' now, he fears losing more that he cared about it was hard enough losing those he had only known for a short time. "I am sure it looks beautiful Lady Tuuilika, I may have to venture to see it one day." He never knew what path he would take after all, it was never really his decision to make. "Do many different creatures live here then?" Curious as always.

Out of the corner of his eye he saw movement. A flicker of darkness. "Stop" he spoke to his current compaion, he feathers stood on air. Something wasn't right, something was here, as always it would spoil his calm moment.

Moving himself closer to Tuli so he could shield her if needed he closed his eyes, listening to the sounds of the forest, what ever was coming towards them was clearly a silent predator, leaving very little trace of their path. How curious.... a skinwalker perhaps? Or maybe a trained Kalona? Either way it was bad news, especially since it was coming closer.

-------------

Kimi was hungry, it had been days since she had last tasted flesh of a soquili, rabbits just didn't seem to keep her satisified any more. It was because of this her usual tactics where out of teh question, she couldn't concentrate and resist long enough to lure the mare away from the stallion. Licking her lips she circled them in the forest, it was clear that the stallion had spotted her... he would be first! Leaping from the safety of the bare forest she aimed to strick him swiftly

------------------

Haishan's eyes popped open the moment he heard a rush of wind and a rustle of leaves, his eyes coming face to face with those of a beautiful SW, they actually distracted him, a mistake as her claws reached out for him and started to dig in as he found the energy he needed to move. Blood started to weep down his side. A battle roar erupted from his lips as he charged at the SW, one thought ran through his mind. Protect Tuli.

"Haishan!" Tuli yelled as her eyes caught sight of the skinwalker seemingly coming from the shadows themself. She froze for a moement, not sure what to do, she couldn't leave them, but she didn't want to die either. Her father had always told her to run.....Run at the first sight of a skinwalker. She watched as the claws dug into the flesh of her new companion. She couldn't....She couldn't leave him here at the mercy of this beast. Her eyes watched as the feathers and claws flew towards Haisan.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 25, 2010 5:30 am
Everything happened so fast, and it was all Haishan could do to resist the SW's attacks. Blow after blow she delivered, and eventhough he attempted to charge at her the blood he was losing was causing him to feel light headed, the world was spinning, he staggered slightly towards Tuli. He must protect the mare. He must.

-------------------------

Kimi allowed her fangs to hand over her lips as a creasent smile formed. What a silly creature stood before her, it was obvious that he was strong and a warrior but she had the advantage... it was rare for her to overpower a stallion. He was no longer a threat. Licking her lips she turned her attention the mare. How delicious she looked.

A growl rumbled in her throat before she leaped forward, wings spread like the eagle spirit she was. This was it...

-------------------------

A blurry world of shadows and light flickered before his eyes. Heart racing he closed his eyes for a moment to force himself to focus, and as he opened them he noticed a change in the SW's attitude, her attention had changed that much was clear. Tuli....

As fast as his body could manage he placed himself infront of her, shaking slightly from the weakness that was slowly consuming him. Nothing would harm this mare while there was breath in bones.

A flash appeared, as the SW's attack struck, claws digging deep in his rump and throat. Pain. Blood. Darkness.

He stumbled to the ground.

She had never been in this situation, she had never seen a real skinwalker, she had never known fear of this kind before! Her eyes watched and her body trembled as the fight continued, the only thing she could thing of was save Haishan. They weren't far from her father's home, she could only hope that he would hear the rukus in the woods, she could only hope...

"Scythe! Dad!!" she yelled as the fight continued, "Hurry!!"

------------

In middle of conversation with one of his daughter's companions, Scythe stopped mid-sentence, rudely interupting Maion as he was speaking. His head shot up at the sound of his name being yelled, it was Tuli!

Without hesitation he turned, running for the forest as fast as he could. His heart racing, not sure of what was going on. Tuli had been only a foal last she yelled for him like that. Something was wrong, something was terribly wrong.

------------

More blood...blood....The ground was red and seemed to almost bleed itself. Any other occassion, and she'd probably get sick. She trembled as the eyes of the skinwalker turned and focused on her, why hadnt' she run? Haishan, and his broken body, moved once again in front of her....the skinwalker attacked again, and he collapsed. The sight of her mangled companion sent Tuli into the first real rage she had ever felt.

Without thinking, she quickly put her front feet over the body of Haishan, stradling him to shield him from anymore blows. She fanned her small wings out as far as they would go, a trick she learned from her father. Make yourself look as large as possible. She was furious...she was scared....she was determined. "Leave him alone!" she yelled at the skinwalker. "I'm warning you!"

Maion gulped, it seemed harder than he had expected to explain where Sengdroma was and why he wasn't with her, yet something told him that that Scythe would understand. After all Maion was trying to help Moon -he loved her. "She is..." training he was going to say before being cut short by the sudden eruption of cries from the forest. Scythe was off in a flash and Maion could only assume it was a family member since they knew him by name and he thought he heard them call Dad but wasn't entirely sure if that was heard correctly over the desperate tone in the mares voice. He didn't take him long to join Scythe, catching up to him as they ran towards the forest, towards the cries. He only hoped that no one was badly injured -he had some healing powers but they where not as strong as true unicorn.

"Do you know who is in trouble?" He called to Scythe as the sped ever forward.

---------------------------

Haishan lay limply upon the ground, heart racing, and his mind spinning as it drifted in and out of consciouness. What a stupid thing to do, if he was dead he wouldn't be able to protect anyone, he wouldn't be able to help the family that had sent him this way. But perhaps that was his destiny? Perhaps that was the real reason the fates had sent him here?

Yet as this thought drifted into his mind he felt the mare he had been protecting mere seconds before come closer, and then stand over him. Guarding him. Protecting him. It was an alien concept. Why would anyone put themself into danger for him? Why would they risk themselves for a stranger? It was then that he tried to focus on the mist coloured mare, seeing her truely for the first time. She was beautiful, and even in her frighten state with her wings held out wide he could see her majestic nature and soul. A pure creature. "Do-n't" he tried to mutter but the word seemed to escape him and became lost in on the breeze.

--------------------

Kimi laughed as the mare came forth to try and protect the weakened stallion. She didn't care who became her dinner. Both of them was fine by her. Delicious food to satisify her hunger at last. Yummy.

Licking her lips she watched as the mare spread out her wings in an obvious attempt to make herself appear larger... surely she had already seen her own wing span? If not... she slowly began to spread her own wings, all four of them proud and powerful. She would teach her a lesson for her foolishness.

"Mine" she hissed as she lunched herself foward, claws out, ready to strike.

A second past. And then came the part she loved. CONTACT! Her claws dug deep into the puny mares shoulder. Blood trickling over her claws. She licked her lips and growled into the mares ear. She would tease her... play with her food.

"I don’t know," Scythe yelled back at Maion, "But I know that’s Tuulikki screaming!" his hooves dug deep into the earth, his body forgetting for the moment just how old he was. "Something’s not right!" A scowl crossed his face.

-------

Tuli was scared, but she was not, NOT, going to move. Her eyes set on the powerful skinwalker, watching as she spread her own wings…she was much larger and much stronger than Tuli could even pretend to be, but, the small mare stood her ground, wings out.

In a matter of seconds, Tuli’s world was rocked. She had never been in combat, and besides her brothers when they were foals, this was the first time she had ever been struck. She felt the burn of the claws ripping through her flesh, the immediate stinging sensation. She felt her balance shift as the skinwalker’s blow knocked her down to her side like a ragdoll.

--------

Just as Scythe cleared a bit of thick saplings, he saw Tuli fall to the ground at the mercy of a winged skinwalker. His own eyes saw red as his flesh and blood like injured in the dirt. He lowered his head, horns ready to ram the skinwalker in the ribcage. His face growling menacingly with his fangs showing. He pulled his wings in as close as he could to keep them from hanging on branches so he could hit the walker with full force. “Beast!” he growled.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 25, 2010 5:35 am
Maion said nothing in responce to Scythes words, it was obvious he was worried about the prospect of what lay ahead of them, and as they reached the 'battle' field it was clear that he was right to be. There was a stallion laying injured on the ground, a lot of blood had already pooled around him. But there was also a mare -obvious the Tuulikka that Scythe had spoke of- being flung to the ground. Yet out of the figures before him he was most interested by the attacker, a skinwalker with four eagle wings. He had only ever known of one such creature, and unfortunitly he was related through his mothers foolishness. Kimi.

Rage bubbled up within him, he had warned Kimi before not to come here, not to hunt on these lands, but it was obvious she had 'failed' to heed his warning. He could only hope that he could get her to leave without her losing his life- after all he had promised, despite his true hatred of her kind. Skinwalkers where the lowest of the low as far as he was concerned. "KIMI!" He roared, rushing towards her, his strong muscles pushing into the dirt causing bits to fly around him. "Heed my warning creature..." he was before her now, watching Scythe's actions beside him, he wanted blood -and who was he to deny him of it? "...leave here and NEVER return" each word was spat out of his mouth.

-----------------------------------

Kimi watched as the mare was flung so easily to the ground, easy prey, good sport. She had almost forgotten through the hunger how easy this was. Dinner was served. Or so she thought before her ears twitched with the change of the wind that carried the familar scent of Maion. Why was it he always seemed to be there to deny her substance. To ruin her plans. How he hated him... if he was not more powerful than her she would try and fight his so called 'authority' but it was pointless.

Turning her head to watched as the new figures introduced themselves into the game. And to her horror it seemed Maion's companion was another stallion of equal if not greater strength.... drats! This really wasn't her day after all.

Yet as his words reached her and their charging brought them closer she bit her lip and frowned. Her snake like voice left her lips. "Why Maion... why does it seem you are always where you are not welcome?" She spat at the ground, preparing to be struck by at least one of the stallions. "Of course, I would do as you ask but it seems that there if no where that would welcome this 'creature'."

----------------------------------

Haishan lay upon the ground, he cringed as the mist coloured mare fell before his eyes. NO! Using the last of his strength he pulled himself towards her, leaving a trail of blood behind him. "Lady Tuli..." he spoke in a soft voice that seemed fragile and was almost lost on the wind. "...are you ok?"

He tried to pull himself to his feet, the muscles tender and feeling like butter under his weight. It was usless, the best he could do was move himself closer to his companion and hope that the skinwalker would not attack once more.

It was then that he saw blurred figures join them. Was that good or bad news?

Scythe didn’t slow down, he would not retreat or show mercy, that was his daughter laying injured, her blood flowing from her coat covering the soil beneath her. No soquili would get away with that, not with his family! He charged, hitting the skinwalker like a battering ram, in his fury he didn’t even flinch at the contact.

-------

Tuli opened her eyes though they were filled with tears, the pain was terrible. Her shoulder was gashed open, the flesh seemed to just be peeled. She could hear Haishan’s voice, but her eyes were on her father and the large black angeni that her sister had brought home. She knew her father would hear her, she knew. She turned her head to Haishan, his body slowly moving upon the ground. “Stay still, Haishan…Stay Still.” She used her good legs to turn her body to face him, “Dad will take care of this…Don’t worry…” her voice almost inaudible, though trembling.

-------

Scythe turned after connecting with the skinwalker, his nostrils flaring. His wings immediately spread and his chest bowed out. It had been a long time since he had been forced to take a battle stance. He could hear Maion talking to the creature, but he didn’t understand, he seemed to know her. Perhaps from a previous run in? He dug his front hooves into the ground. “Leave here or perish!”
PostPosted: Mon Jan 25, 2010 5:37 am
Haishan obede her instructions, it was clear he was in no state to move yet the feeling of helplessness was not something he was acustom to. It was strange relying on someone else, placing his life into someone else's hooves -granted he knew the reason her father was fighting was not for him, but for her. He had not been strong enough to protect her.

Lowering his body back to thr ground he winced through the pain and the knowlegde of his failure.

---------------------

Maion watched as Scythe struck Kimi, she deserved this, she deserved so much more -and part of him wanted to rip her limb from limb for hurting one of Moon's family members. How dare she! And as Scythe gave her a chance to leave he only hoped that she had enough wisdom to take it.

---------------------

Kimi took the blow, her paws digging into the ground as she was forced backwards. Pain rippled through her though she dared not look to see if she was bleeding or if it was just the blood of her victums that stained her coat. Her eyes caught Maions. What a pathetic creature he was. If he had not been there.... maybe... just maybe she would fight, but it was clear this was a battle she would not win.

Eyes racing back towards her attacker she took in his giant wings -they seemed to be unique like her own. It was clear he was powerful but age was starting to show it's ugly head upon his features. He was an old stallion. Spitting at him she pulled her wings as close to her body as she could and turned to run back through the forest -away from them and the fight at hand.

----------------------

The moment Kimi had left Maion relaxed eventhough his body was still ready to pounce should she be foolish enough to consider returning. His eyes then left the trees to examine the two figures that had joined Kimi. One was a delicate looking mare -surely Scythe's daughter- she was pretty but in his eyes no one would ever compare to his Moon, the other was a stallion, even in his injured state it was clear that he was a warrior -a sutile strength pulsing through his veins and muscles. Out of the two of them he was in the worst state, he predicted that his healing powers would heal her shoulder in no time but his injuries where another question -maybe if he could just take the worst off them he would heal quickly on his own?

Slowly he approached him, "Stay still" he said in his usual strong voice. Lowering his head he focused all his energy into his horn. Heal him, heal him, heal him... was the only thought in his mind.

------------------------

As the large Angeni stallion approached Haishan lowered his gaze, he had always been told that it was not a good idea to look one of his breed in the eyes, there was a reason why the Skinwalkers feared them. So it came as a suprise when a strange sensation started to rush through his body and focus on his deeper wounds. It was painful, tingly almost. He had never known a unicorn power to hurt like this -perhaps it was beacuse he wasn't a true unicorn? Or maybe because Haishan was too badly injured? He didn't know but it took all his focus not to call out in pain.... a distraction... he needed a distraction.

Slowly he lifted his head to find the mist coloured mare that he had been travelling with before all this. Even in the dull light that leaked through the canopy she was beautiful. Even with the fear stuck upon her face, and the injury weaping blood down her shoulder she was beautiful. And in that moment he contemplated what it would be like to trust her, to get to know her -to truely get to know her- and let her know him in return.

Scythe watched as the skinwalker retreated into the depths of the forest, his heart still racing with adrenaline and rage as she disappeared into the dark. His eyes turned to the two injured soquili, he quickly moved to his daughter. Gently he nosed the wounds, they were deep. ‘Why didn’t you run, Tuli? I’ve always told you to run….’ he thought to himself as he watched the crimson fluid flow from the gashes. His eyes looked to the stallion. He was well built and had taken the brunt of the combat, had he tried to protect her? He watched as Maion began trying to heal him, but he knew that the wounds would be too extensive for Maion to heal on his own. He turned back to Tuli, “Tuli, lie still. I’m going to get Aunt ‘Saki…” he whispered to her then turned to Maion. “I know a full blood. She’s not far, she’s with Vara. Stay here and do what you can.” With those words, he spread his wings and took to the sky, bursting through the canopy over head with great force. He had to find Misaki.

-------

Tuli lie there, her eyes on Haishan and Maion. She felt terrible, she had told him these were safe lands. What if he had brought the mare and her foals here? What if that skinwalker had killed them after she had given him her word? She didn’t understand, there had never been skinwalkers here, where did she come from? She was growing weak, she lowered her head to the ground, her eyes still on Maions horn and Haishan’s wounds. “Hurry Misaki….Hurry…” she thought to herself.

-------

Misaki had been grazing, her ears flicked at the sound of heavily beating wings. Her eyes turning towards the sky she spotted her sisters mate. She smiled at first, but she could tell by the look on his face that something was wrong.

“Misaki, you must come. Tuli and a stranger are hurt. It was a skinwalker.” His voice was demanding.

Misaki, without a word, took to a full run. She couldn’t fly, but she was fast on her feet. She would follow Scythe’s figure looming over head. She could catch glimpses of him through the forest top. Not far from the family home, she reached the bodies of the injured. She nodded to Maion as she approached the worst of the two. He had begun to heal what he could, but the wounds were deep. Much longer and they could be fatal. “Tend to Tuli.” She said in a soft, calm manner, nodding to her niece nearby. “I will care for this one.”

Maion was struggling and he knew it, so as Scythes words reached him he was pleased to know that help was on the way for the stallion before him was in a bad state. Blood was still running to the ground and he was sure that the stallion was drifting in and out of consioucness. He only hoped that Scythes friend would get here in time to save him.

----------------------

Haishan was struggling with the pain but refused to let his eyes leave Tuli for a second.

----------------------

Maion lifted his head at the sound of hooves, surely Kimi wasn't stupid enough to return? But to his relief it was the unicorn Scythe had gone to get. Glad of her arrival he moved away from the stallion and towards Tuli. Her wound was deep and she was losing blood but it was within his power to heal.

"Stay still," he spoke gently as he lowered his horn towards her and began to concentrate once more. Before his eyes the wound slowly started to seal itself. She may be left with a small scar but at least her life was not in danger -anymore. It was with that thought in his mind that Maion decided to hunt Kimi down during the night and remind her who was boss. She would never hurt a member of Moon's family again, and if she tried he would not hesitate to take her life.

--------------------

As the unicorn came towards him and started to use her power Haishan felt relief. It didn't hurt this time and he could feel the work of the Angeni being sped up by her true power.

Misaki was a calm soul, she rarely showed anxious emotions, though she knew that this stallion was bad off. She spoke to him in reassuring tones, like a mother to a foal with a scraped knee. “Don’t worry now, you’re going to be just fine.” She smiled, moving her horn a bit to another area. “Should only be a bit longer now….” She watched as the blood started to flow less and less, the wounds trying to heal slowly. It could take some time. “Now, you will still be sore…I can’t fix that.” She could heal the physical, but the pain would be there. Not as bad, but the nerves in muscles would still have odd sensations for a few days.

--------

Scythe approached from the rear, watching as the two healers did their jobs. He could do no more now. He stood there in silence, debating on tracking down the skinwalker and killing her where she stood. How dares he come onto his lands…attack his family? He snorted and ruffled his feathers. He would speak to Maion about tracking her down. He wanted to know how Maion knew the skinwalker. If they had had run ins in the past, perhaps he would help hunt her down.

---------

Tuli just lie there as her sister’s companion focused on her. She could feel her shoulder tingle as the gashes began to heal. She looked over to her aunt as she was speaking to Haishan. She was a good healer, she hoped that Haishan was not too far lost. “It’s my fault…” she whispered to Maion. “My fault…”
