Yue was no fool. He could hear the fear dripping from her voice just as the water dripped down her coat. Some birds circled the air chirping happily and what seemed to be full of amusement as the scene below them unfolded. A soft breeze passed by that moment and he noticed how his scales were now stiff to the touch. His eyes trailed upward to her fur. It was most likely starting to freeze over too. The morning was a chilly one after all.
After she returned to the grassy area the water started to calm once more. Yue heard her request and wondered why she kept on trying so hard. It was puzzling and certainly the first time someone was trying to actively approach him. He did not know what to think anymore it usually ended with betrayal from the other party and they had always been kind and selfless at the beginning.
He felt strangely warm despite the cold, it was a fuzzy feeling. Yue knew it came from his new drawn out conclusion, this fox was out there cold and miserable because of him. He hadn’t expected her to get in the water with him in fact that’s why he had chosen to get in. But to purposely know that someone had done, or tried to do, something for him without expecting anything hurt because he couldn’t bear to think that it was true. When he looked down at the perfect reflection he saw it again, it was very happy and cheerfully grinning. ‘Mine!’ It mouthed with a big predatory smile.
The draconic fox turned around and face her, a smile gracing his face. “I absolutely love hearing my voice too,” He stated, treading closer. “While I may not love or hate I do enjoy warming up damsels in distress,” He said once he was near enough. The scaled fox nuzzled the sunny fox’s cheek and was surprised to find how warm it was compared to everything else he had touched. “Dark one?” He asked innocently, circling her. “I have a name your know, it is Xiu and it just happens to mean beautiful. Rather fitting.”

"Crickets, I always forget that part." Anat stated as she stared at him. His personality had completely changed. She felt him nuzzle her cheek and she almost leaned into it. He was... so different from mere moments before. She slowly forced her body to its feet. She stepped in front of him stopping his circling. She tilted her head to the side and smiled.
"I'm Anat. Named for the goddess. Its a pleasure Xiu." She stated sliding closer to him. As if perhaps that would make it understandable. She lowered her ears and head as she slunk closer. Eventually she was close enough to touch him. She didn't but she was close enough that she could.
"Forgive me for calling you Dark One. But that was how you came across at first." She was trying to broach this subject with some form of tact. "So why the change?" She asked shivering slightly. She moved yet even closer to him, he was not exactly radiating heat but he was better then the snow. She smiled warmly at him her eyes bright.
"On a different note. I am not asking for your love or hate. Perhaps your friendship but other then that, nothing and no one could tie me down. But I can't say I would mind being warmed up. It is cold out here." She said in the sweetest of voices. She was still mildly confused at the change in attitude but she figured it might be best to just roll with it. Instead of pointing out that he had just completely changed personalities and that it was strange.

“Name fitting for a goddess? It’s perfect for you,” He said, a slow but deliberate smile gracing his face. “Anat,” The name rolled off his toungue and he purposely held on to the last syllable. Xiu then noticed her gaze and tilted his head. He knew that look, it was the look a child gave a shiny new toy. Well since he saw no harm in it Xiu sat next to her, his scales rubbied against her brightly colored fur.
“I forgive you,” He said sounding completely honest. His tail now rested unmovingly on the frosty grass and his eyes stayed on hers. “What change?” He asked innocently, knowing full well what she meant. But that was a secret, one he would not say in exchange for anything in the world. Well perhaps a new body, but then he would need to get a god or two involved.
Skipping the fact that he retained no body heat and attempting to avoid the previous subject, Xiu leaned in closer, enjoying this new proximity. “Friendship?” He asked. “That’s it? Well I suppose it is indeeed, not much, to ask for. But I will tell you now,” Dramatic pause, “My time is limited.” He stared at her intently and now completely serious. A few seconds later his façade broke into a lazy cat grin.

Anat blushed under her fur. Yes, a complete 180 in personality. It was so strange, not that she was complaining. She didn't mind either of his personalities, she just wished she had had a bit of a warning before he suddenly started acting different. She shook her head and looked over at him. "Thank you, very much Xiu. You are too kind." She stated lowering her eyes. She was still unsure as to how she should act.
She leaned over and nosed his cheek lightly in thanks. "Good I am glad you are not offended." She said before eying him up and down. "Hm, I guess no change at all really. Just... nothing." She said with a smile feeling that she might be treading on thing ice; or perhaps broaching a secret that was not meant for her ears. A guarded thing that she wasn't supposed to know, something he didn't want her to know. So she left it alone, figuring that he would either tell her when he was ready or she could annoy it out of him at a later date.
She shook her head. "Yes only friendship. Unless you think I should be asking for more from you?" She stated casting him a sideways glance. The devilish smirk that passed onto her features matched his own grin rather nicely. "And just where do you have to rush off to?" She asked now wanting to know why his time was so limited. "Though I suppose if you only have so much time you can spend with me that is fine. I can wait for you to return. I don't mind long waits for good friends." She stated. Her fur had dried almost completely by now, her own body heat doing most of the drying. Her fur had again started to fluff out and she seemed to radiate heat. Like the crisp morning air had no domain around her, insulated in her own little bubble of warmth. She could feel the coolness of his scales and it made her tremble.
"You are cold Xiu." She stated as way of warning for what she did next. She curled her tail around him and lowered her ears, placing her head under his chin. She was piratically curled around him now. Her own body heat and warmth rolling over both of them. "You could get sick if not careful." She said her voice soft with concern. Even her bubbly and normally bouncy self could calm when needed. Her worry that her new friend might get sick was enough to calm her for a moment.

The color on her cheeks created a fine impression of a sunset, Xiu noticed. “You are quite welcome,” He said in a deep velvety voice. His eyelids dropped the slightest as he stared at her right in the eye. ‘I would not agree with the last statement though,’ A soft, sweet voice interrupted Xiu’s vain thoughts. ‘Neither do I.’ he replied to it, flicking his tail almost randomly now. He did not know who the third entity was, but only that he was only allowed to stay with the host because of It. Having someone else to depend on infuriated him to no end.
Now that the snow was thawing from the warm morning sun the smell of fresh grass was starting to float by. It was a very clean smell much like the smell of the lake which also smelled like a fresh body of water mixed with that green smell of algae. His ears rolled around to try and grab all of the sound waves of nature, an impossible task but doable still while half of the earth was still asleep.
“Do you want more?” He asked, honey dripping from his voice. “Oh you naughty girl,” He then gave her a playful admonishing look that really meant no harm. Xiu then felt silly for wanting to run off, since it didn’t matter where he was or who he was talking to. Once he did something bad or his time ran out the other would push him back in for another day and then the more clueless being took its rightful place. He stopped in his tracks and looked at her over. She was dry by now whereas he was still wet and even starting to frost over. “How truly you resemble the sun,” He said without giving it a second thought, another sign that he was loosing control.
Then Yue blinked a couple of times, still unused to the disoriented feeling caused by the fast paced switching of energies. He recognized his surroundings as a snow blanketed forest but did not recognize the rather warm fuzzy thing underneath his figure. Yue’s heart jumped at the shock of having something so near his neck, where it could easily be bitten and ripped off. As a defensive reflex, he gave an aggressive snarl and bit down on something that resembled the bridge of the nose of a mammal. His thick and heavily muscled tail swung around to slam against the side of the enemy, already he was thinking of how to kill it and what to do with it afterwards.

Anat was truly shocked by the sudden violence. She held very still and only whimpered slightly. She felt the snap of one of her ribs as it cracked under the sheer force of his tail. The blood that trailed from her muzzle mingling funnily with her golden fur. She tried to say something but breathing was hard enough. She lowered herself down to the ground despite the pain that shot through her body at the movement.
"Dark one, relax its just me." She gasped out through pain clenched teeth. She had lowered her head down to his paws and was laying there very still and whimpering slightly at the pain. She nuzzled his front feet lightly with her bloody muzzle.
"I am sorry if I startled you." She stated having no real idea as to why she had resorted back to calling him Dark one. As he had already stated that his name was Xiu. She was breathing very shallow in an attempt to make it hurt less. She knew that with time the pain in her side would subside with time. All she had to do was get by the first few moments of extreme pain.
She looked up at him. "Are you all right?" She asked as if he had been the one injured.

Now that he knew what was, or rather –who- he let go and back a few steps away. The thin snow made a soft crisp sound as his paws broke through the layers. His cold aqua eyes stared at the victim without any form of outer emotion. He could taste the metallic iron tinge of blood and was completely confused as to how to handle the situation. Though he had warned her, he thought stubbornly. Then he looked down at his paws, the blood was darker there and it stained the virgin snow, or rather what was left of it.
She asked him if he was alright as if he were the one on the floor bleeding with broken bones. He knew she had them, otherwise why the show? “Keep your distance,” He answered coolly, hoping the phrase would have a new reinforced meaning by now. Yue’s conscious was nagging him about what he had just done and then he felt bad. He was confused as to why he felt the way he did, but shrugged it off, blaming it on the more emotional entity.
He turned around with his back to her and towards the lake, and walked towards it. Once there he submerged himself in the cold liquid and did not resurface.
