Erimentha crouch so she was close to eye level and smiled.
"Exactly, small, undetected and he can make a quick get away and hide if something happens. And that town up ahead could be anything, I would prefer to be safe than sorry. We can start walking in that direction but I would love to have a warning if anything went wrong."
She smiled genuinely and removed her scarf wrapping and handing it to the little fox.
"Here it's cold and you'll lose alot of heat. My names Erimetha by the way."

AJ only smiled, and looked to her little owl, who stared at Erimetha with the same content look as always. She looked back to her and nodded. "Pleased to make your acquaintance, Erimetha. My name is Alexa Jordan, or just AJ for short. And this little guy" she said, holding out her finger to the owl, who hopped on gleefully, "is Olive." He chirped in response. She brought him close, looking into his small beady eyes. "Think you can do this, bud?"

He hopped up and down on her finger, hooting gleefully. AJ smiled. "Go find the bad things that'll get us, if you can." she said, and lifted him up into the sky. He buzzed away like a ball of fluff. The fox shook her head with a smile.

"Come on lets get going." She smiled but before she started walking she dug through her pockets looking for something.
"Ah here it is." She held a piece of chalk and then marked an X on the wall nearest to them.
"So we can find our way back and the rest of our comany can find us."

Small ship lands down nearby.
"Ello? I heard there was an expedition going on without a medical operative."
*looks around*
"Great now I'm lost."

Lord Ashen

As the last of the adventurers disappeared from view Lord Ashen returned his attention to the main control lever of the gateway. 'Perhaps some sort of lock would prevent people playing with the device' he mused. As he began to try various locks around the lever the device began to activate without his involvement causing him to leap back startled.

Turning around he saw five individuals materialise into the room all wearing long military coats and gas masks beneath helmets. Unfortunately all his weapons were on the bench behind the military personal. One of the soldiers looked at a photo and then nodded to his comrades who restrained Lord Ashen. The officer then looked at the gateways control panel and took out a device from his coats pocket which he fitted to the base of the control panel. That done he activated a button on wrist and the soldiers disappeared with Lord Ashen from the room.

The town the adventurers were approaching was flanked on three sides by a river and climbed up a hill. Tall clouds of smoke obscured most of the town from view but through it could be seen a tall cathedral and castle walls winding around the hill. From the battlements could be seen a flag waving with two lines of alternating yellow and red. Two bridges led over the river guarded by soldiers wearing long coats and tall lance like rifles. A train could be heard in the distance.

Are we active or not? i've been waiting for you guys to post, sorry for the impatience but i want to use Erimentha as a character and not have her sit gathering inspirational dust.

Erimentha kept marking small chalk X's on the posts as she walked past them, she could hear the train and a small wiff of the smoke which meant they were hearding in th right direction, but something did not feel right at all.

"Something's happened, call it nervouseness but my female intuition tells me otherwise."

Back at the site of the crash a small group had gathered. A party of six people on horseback wearing dark grey military jackets (smaller and lighter versions of the guards at the gatehouses) were listening to a man in civilian clothing

"I heard ta voices from over here like. There was this womans voice and she didn't talk like normal you nar. Since ya had said to tell ya if anything strange happened around here like I thought you would want ta nar." he explained

"I see." One of the riders said looking around, none of his party had been idle, evidently taking the civilians word as good. They had begun to search the surroundings for sign of a strangers passage through the are. A heavy set man with a club yelled over from one of the low walls around the crash site "My lord, they past this way." The still mounted leader of the group spurred his horse over to the man "look" the man said indicating the cross on the wall with his club.

I'm afraid that Aster's artificial heart may have failed in transit. By which I mean that I've been having health problems, and it hurts to be awake. My apologies.

A spark...movement...pain. Slowly, fitfully, the small machine which kept Aster Lansky's heart beating restarted, mere moments before it would have killed him. He awoke with a strangled cry of pain. Somehow, he had not emerged in the same place as the others, perhaps a result of having been clinically dead on arrival. With his returning consciousness, he made note to adjust the device, whose defibrillation was apparently interrupted by dimensional travel. Though his whole body were in pain, he slowly began to survey his surroundings.

Ah well I hope you feel better soon. Perhaps write more in the post to catch up and give us an opening to find you biggrin

"Aj, do you hear anything?" Erimentha stopped for a moment and looked at her companion with a face of concern.
"And is there a way to ge your little friend back as quickly as possible?"

I forgot that this thread existed ._. I'm sorry!

The little fox blinked, her head lost in a daze of sorts, and she looked around at their surroundings. Her eyes swiveled and turned like radar, and she looked to her companions. "I'm not sure what I'm hearing, but it's not good..." she muttered, and looked to the starry skies. She cupped her hands around her mouth, and took in a deep breath. From her hands came a rather believable hooting.

Fro a distance, her call was answered as the little owl came buzzing back in a flutter of white feathers. He shook his tiny head and seemed to frown. AJ mirrored his expression and frowned, looking up to her company. "Nothing, I'm afraid. He couldn't see anything"

The riders followed the markings carefully making sure that they did not miss any. The beater which led the group raised his hand and the riders came to a halt "My lord in the distance between us and Durham their is a couple of people. Perhaps they are the ones who made the markings."

Two of the riders reached for their carbines but the leader of the group stilled them saying "Very well lets go and ask them."
"My lord you know our orders." one of the riders said looking at the rest of the group for support but he found none.
"The King would not be pleased if we just killed his servants though, now would he." the leader said emphasising the kings displeasure. "Lets go and find out first. Besides I would be interested to find out where they are from if they did come through the gateway." He looked and the group and said "So lets go and greet our friends. If we judge them to have come through the gateway we can kill them then." He spurred his horse forward and quickly drew up beside the travellers where he slowed to a cantor.

"Good evening to you travellers. I see you have come from foreign lands, Mercian perhaps. Are you travelling to Durham?" he said indicating the town in the distance.

Lord Ashen was thrown into a darkened room and his captors shut the door behind him. The room went entirely dark for a second before a powerful bright light fell on him temporarily blinding him. "Lord Ashen, I presume" a voice said.
"Yes, who am I talking to and where am I?" he replied
"You are in another world Lord Ashen, a fact I would have thought you would have realised by now. Perhaps I was mistaken to bring you here after all. As for who you are speaking to all you need to know is that you are speaking to the future ruler of the multiverse." The voice stopped and the speaker began to cough.

The light spread through the room and Lord Ashen realised that the light was coming from a crack in the blast doors which were now been lowered. The man who had been addressing him was seated opposite the door on a heavy oak seat. He was an older gentleman in his late fifties with a long white beard and garbed in heavy robes. On either side of him stood two men with large battle axes and heavy mail. "You will have to forgive an old man for trusting the old ways" the King said indicating the rooms medieval adornment. Yet without the windows the blast doors had covered could be seen the sky.

"What do you want from me? " Lord Ashen demanded. The King merely gave a hearty laugh "The little man has spirit" he said to his guards "Well as a reward for your bravery I will tell you. I want you to make a larger gateway."

Erimentha stiffened when she heard the low rumble of hooves drawing near to them and her grip tightened on the cane.
"Aj, hide your ears with my scarf, we don't now what the people are like here." She whispered hurridly and listened intently until the horsemen got to them.

"Good evening to you too sir, yes we are heading to Durham, I'm guess you found my little marks, we lost one of our companions further back and we thought it would help him find us." Erimentha bullshitted and pretended she knew exactly what she was doing, her grip on her cane didn't loosen however.
"I'm sorry to cause you any inconveiance."
