I just saw Book of Eli and I was blown away! It was excellent!

I am glad you enjoyed it. All the reviews I have read for it so far have been negative, I am convinced that everything I love others hate and vice versa.

Well, critics always differ with average moviegoers. Exhibit A: Critics give it negative reviews, yet Book of Eli is #2 at the box office behind Avatar (no movie will be able to compete with Avatar until it's out of theaters). Exhibit B: On Yahoo, critics give Lovely Bones a C-, yet Yahoo users give it a B+ and it's #3 behind Book of Eli.
My point: Critics don't know a great movie when they see one.

I think it just depends on the critic themselves. I mean there's a local one here where I live who writes for the paper he's said some atrocious movies were not that bad. Legally Blonde 2 for instance
