"Uh...ello Basil." Ebony said a bit uneasily. She knew better than to allow first impressions to rule how you saw a person, but just the way the boy smiled at her, hood casting shadows over his sharp features to illuminate that bright grin into the realm of Cheshire cats. It was down right eerie and she wondered briefly whether he knew how he was coming off to others then.

The Brit frowned when the Frei poked her rudely, not understanding that this was how Cordelia had first greeted the other, but she held her tongue on lecturing the boy. He must have been young, possibly younger than Delia since Ebony hadn't seen him before now. So she could forgive any odd behavior in hopes that he would eventually learn otherwise.

Yet the violet femme thought too soon it seemed. Just as Cordelia had finished giving the cobra an overzealous nod in confirming that this was indeed her Ebby, Basil went into some sort of fit. Neither the smoke Raevan or her guardian knew what to make of it, yet each reacted in totally different ways. Ebony, suspicious and cautious as ever, took a few steps back in case he'd decided to attack her for whatever reasons. She gave a worried frown when Cordelia floated closer to the other, just as worried about her new friend.

As slowly and as carefully as she could, Delia pressed her hand to Basil's cheek before floating into his line of view once more. "Basil?" the girl asked her concern clear as day in those soulful grey eyes.

Overwhelmed by the sudden concern, Basil could only continue to tug and yank at his textured hood, a sharp burning sensation swirling within the center of his brain and radiating outwards, stroking and clouding his feeble comprehensions. Sadly, he remained unaware that these slight idiosyncrasies were even existent. So to find Cordelia's hand cupping his frozen cheek with seemingly unwarranted worry made him begin to worry himself.

Was this not the right human? Was Ebby hurt? Was Cordelia hurt? Did Basil's nose need blowing? What was drawing so much attention?

"Hm?" A bite of a noise born from his own lack of understanding. He pointed to the British woman with a stiff-jointed finger, "Is she right?" A strangely worded question in regards to if this was, again, indeed the correct person and they had not made any errors. His head then perched upon the basilisk's shoulder with a grumbling groan, shoulders slumped and emotionally exhausted... He was fairly certain he'd had more than enough excitement for one day...

She did not understand what the youth meant by 'is she right?' Was he wondering if her guardian was all right? Cordelia peered over at her woman, scanning for anything that might be out of place or wrong, but everything seemed fine. As far as she could tell, Ebony was perfectly unharmed. Yet the look etched on the Brit's tanned face said she was distressed about something. What exactly, Delia wasn't sure.

Returning her attention back to the other Frei, Cordelia wasn't sure how to tell him her guardian was all right. So the basilisk gently patted his cheek again and said in a strong tone, "Ebby." She meant for her mannerisms to instill the other with the idea of how strong her woman was in hopes that he would get that she was okay.

Cordelia blinked in confusion when Basil leaned his head upon her shoulder suddenly in an affectionate way. Again she panicked that something was wrong with him. Yet by the exhausted sounds that emitted from the cobra, she quickly deduced that the boy must be tired. A tugging and longing swelled in her chest as she immediately wrapped her arms around him. Though she had only just meet Basil, something about him triggered this need in Cordelia to want to dot over him, to protect him.

Although endearing, the Freis lingering embrace was making the purple haired Brit uncomfortable on so many levels. Clearing her throat, "Basil? Where is your guardian? Your human?"

His head promptly felt very heavy as he strained to breath against the fabric of her clothing, eyes shut and feeling weary. He inhaled deeply, filling himself with a distinctly unique potion of brisk air and the Basilisk's smokey albeit feminine odor. When he exhaled, it came as a child-like snuffle, a snort as his breath buffered against her shoulder. Like an old dog snoring through it's jowels. The resulting vibrato was quite soothing, his wings relaxing as shards of sheerest glass went lax against their stalks.

The funny-sounding woman that looked upon them had uttered his name, and surprisingly enough, it had clicked! Were this any other evening she would have had to find herself repeating the inquiry at least several times before the boy would realize he was being selected individually, but now it seemed that Basil's name held much more significance than it had since that morning. He liked being identified by others, he liked that he was Basil, and Basil was he. He liked that Cordelia knew this, and so did Ebby. When he distinctly liked things, that tended to help the memorization process along.

He did not lift his head to answer as he hadn't thought to, his words smothered by the other Frei, "She is lost...lost...my Genie is...lost..."

"I see. So Cordelia must have been helping you look for her." Although the British woman's eyes distinctly looked to her ward as if she'd asked a question, Ebony already knew this had to be the fact. It was only logical that the Basilisk should want to help another Raevan, most especially one that was so akin to her in looks. The woman briefly wondered what the boy's soul was. Another snake perhaps? By the scaly nature of his hoodie, she could only surmise as much.

"All right then. We'll go to the lost and found tent so they can make an announcement. Your Genie's bound to have lost her mind by now." This time Ebony made sure to grab a hold of Cordelia's hand before walking off. She wouldn't make the same mistake twice.

Her slender fingers idly smoothed bits of Basil's obsidian hair much like a mother or older sister would for their child or brother. To her, he seemed so very lost himself at times and she felt compelled to comfort him in any manner she was able to. Unfortunately she had to stop her 'mothering' for the time being as Ebony grabbed her and urged her forth. Cordelia followed a similar manner and clasped her free hand with one of Basil's once more. And then she spoke to him in that strange hissing language of hers because she wanted to put him at ease even if he couldn't understand what she said. "Everything will be okay. You'll see. We will find your woman."

Once they made their way across the mass of the crowd to the lost and found booth, Ebony made quick work speaking with the officials there. Immediately someone got on the intercom, the mic giving off its common bouts of loud static and squeaks drawing the attention of all the festival goers. "Genie please report to the lost and found tent. Basil is waiting for you there. Again Genie, Basil is waiting for you at the lost and found tent. Thank you."

Turning back to the two dark half bodies, "Now all we can do is wait."

OOC:/ Sorry this took a little while, RL has been a little hectic on my end combined with mental constipation. Dx

Basil -having been rather comfortable situated where he was- couldn't help but have been given a start when Cordelia was abruptly pulled out from under him, having to right himself against the bracing winds. But Cordelia would not leave him, the hand not clasped within Ebony's freeing his eyes from his untame tresses. She had uttered something unto him as she then grasped his own worrying fingers within hers. A voice, a dialect that sounded strangely intuitive, but terribly immigrant... While he struggled to find the meaning behind each precisioned hiss and slur, somehow, he still felt as though everything would be alright by it.

What a strange trio they made as they engaged in the excursion to the Lost and Found Tent. Two beguiling, scaly beings hand in hand, forming a chain with the purple-haired woman, Basil all the while stricken with a hapless grin and excited tremblings.

The tent was a rather hospitable place, Basil found, canvas flapping in the breeze. Humans in red volunteer shirts bustled in uniform, hot-cocoa brewing as they awaited anyone in need of their services while simultaneously sheltering themselves from the temperature. It was clear from their expressions and body language that this was...somewhat unmarked territory. Usually those requesting their services were missing children, or perhaps someone who had found a dog with it's leash trailing behind it. Suspicious, floating beings was definitely a new one, but if one were missing from it's caregiver, they supposed they were still obligated to assist.

Tepidly one hopped upon the intercom. At the sound of the screeching and the static, at first Basil had shrieked in displeasure, pulling his hood tightly across his ears! But with further exposure, the hood peeled back again, a look of confusion dressing his features now. His ears twitched, his eyes shimmered with life-- he found himself flushed with a feeling of...of fullness? A feeling of being satiated, of having an innate desire fulfilled. Had he just now experienced what it was to feed? As the man now spoke the starchy command for Miss Genevieve to high-tail it to the area, Basil was pensive. He dwelled on this new feeling within... He decidedly enjoyed it in spite of the initial surprise.

They wouldn't be waiting long, even as the man on the intercom turned on his heel to offer if perhaps they would like to play a game of cards while they waited. Perhaps ten minutes at the most passed the clock before in the distance came a figure sprinting down the street, shoving aside anybody obstructing her path (which shockingly enough, included even full-grown men that blanched at her touch.) One could almost see smoke wafting from the soles of her shoes as she skidded to a stop, sweating and panting, her hands slamming down upon the folding-table as she caught her breath. Basil looked absolutely delighted in a childish whimsy, coyly pulling at his hood as Genie flung herself against him, "Oh my God! Oh wow, Basil you scared the living hell out of me!" Basil chirped through Genevieve's constricting embrace, "I'm sorry it fell out... we can go look for it now..." His expression concerned and apologetic that his woman was bereft of her living-hell on his account.

Genie disregarded him, perfectly content to continue her feverish ranting, "Christ in a cardigan sweater... I don't know what I would'a done if you were gone for good-- yer' one of the few things I own outright! You ain't hurt are ya'?" Which was then that she noticed the two onlookers beside them, staring at them somewhat as it occurred to her how out of breath she was.

And they had taken the booth attendant up on his offer, or at least Ebony did as she wasn't sure how long it would take Basil's guardian to arrive. For all they knew she could have been clear on the other side of the festival grounds. But luckily the Brit knew the exact activity the two scaly Freis could entertain themselves with using only a deck of cards.

Roughly ten minutes had gone by and Ebony watched as Cordelia, a tip of pink tongue peeking out from the side of her mouth while her brow furrowed in deep concentration, carefully tried to put two more cards on top of an already half erected house of them. When she'd gotten it to stay, the girl scrunched her face into a huge prideful grin before beckoning her 'little brother' to put the next set of cards up. He wouldn't get the chance though as a sudden black haired blur assaulted the poor hooded boy. Though Cordelia was happy to see the exchange between newly reunited human and Raevan...she couldn't help the tiny pathetic pout at all their hard work of the past several minutes having been put to ruin by the mini earthquake Genie's hands had produced not to mention the accompanying wind trailing after her.

Ebony, having seen the other woman sprinting down the midway towards them right beforehand, wasn't the littlest bit surprised by the other's hurried and slightly heated lecture. She'd been there herself about half an hour ago and knew the words only came from worry and relief at finding her charge. A light smile gracing her lips, the violet haired female carefully collected the cards into a more proper deck. "I assure you, he's perfectly fine. At least from what I can tell. You know Raevans are more mystery than anything else." She gave a light chuckle before extending a slender palm towards the cobra guardian. "You must be Genie. I'm Ebony Shade and this is my Raevan Cordelia." Of which the basilisk immediately smiled sweetly before waving to the new human.

She persisted on fussing with the boy's clothing, tightening the draw-strings on his sweatshirt and brushing his hair aside. As she gave the duo a glanceover, Genevieve had only but to assume that these were the people that had come across her new addition and salvaged him from any further misfortune.

"Oh! Um, hullo..." She grasped the offered hand in a firm grip, shaking it somewhat a few times before releasing as opposed to the traditional swinging gesture; impatient and mannish.

"Damn... I am so sorry if he caused any inconvenience-- sometimes the guy's mind wanders off to God knows where and in two shakes he's halfway to the Himalayas, ya' know what I mean?" She rubbed the flats of her temples, "I swear I ain't even had 'im a month and I'm gonna have t'break down and get one of those dog-harnesses they make for kids with the little polar bears or monkeys on the back? Least' then I wouldn't have t'run a damn marathon... No wonder they ain't born with legs or you'd be spendin' half yer afternoon beatin' their a** like a red-headed stepchild, yeah?"

Further demonstrating her exasperation, it seemed that Basil had taken to a reflection off the surface of one of the tent-stakes, slowly drifting towards it which urged Genevieve to reel him back by a fistful of his garment to stay put. He did not object, worrying and wringing his hands in an uncomplicated fashion. "But geez... Listen to me prattle on, eh?" It was about that time that she could truly appreciate the new Frei standing near the opposing woman... She almost had to do a double-take! While a handsome and fascinating creature overall, the one introduced as Cordelia... well, she could almost pass for Basil's twin! If not of course for the lack of the absent-minded and wistful expression. With an additional tweak in color scheme.

This was the first female raevan as of yet that she had come across... The matter of gender in the Raevan realm was ill-defined at best to Genevieve, until of course she had something to compare. At first, the more feeble-minded part of her wanted to carry on like an old fool about Basil's little girlfriend, but she knew how inappropriate it'd be. Basil it seemed had had enough problems morphing out of the woodwork; undue humiliation would certainly not benefit him.

"Not even a month?" Silver eyes slipped towards the easily distracted Basil as his guardian continued on. So her assumptions of him being quite young was accurate. Though she hadn't thought he'd be so brand new. Ebony had figured at least a month or two. It made her think about how long it was since Cordelia was born. Quickly she back tracked and did the math. Before Halloween...the 14th of October so then Cordelia was...nearly four months old! Wow, time sure did fly!

Chuckling, Ebony lightly patted her ward on the shoulder. "I guess that means you're no longer the baby of the family Dove." This produced a very vexed expression from the basilisk at first as she wasn't quite sure what her woman was saying. Not the baby anymore? Was that good or bad? After a few moments of contemplation, Delia decided she was fine with giving the unexplained title up to Basil. She had quickly grown a bit fond of the youth after all, so if he wanted to be the baby, he could.

In her usual manner of indecision, the smoky femme swayed from side to side before floating back over to her new friend and took his hand in hers. For the benefit of the other's guardian, she pointed to the reflective surface he'd wanted to investigate earlier before leading the boy to it. Hopefully Genie would be comfortable enough to allow him to venture out of her range as long as they didn't go far and Delia was with him.

Noting the way she looked between their two Raevans, Ebony easily closed the gap between them and stood next to her while they watched their charges amuse themselves with discoveries. "I know what you're thinking. The resemblance is most evident and uncanny. They could easily pull off as being siblings." The purple haired female smirked a bit before turning full on towards Genie, a hand cupping her chin thoughtfully. "It makes me rather curious as to what pairing you made? Essence and soul that is. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, but I'll gladly share Cordelia's origins in exchange."
PostPosted: Tue Jan 26, 2010 8:36 pm

At first Genevieve was hesitant to let Cordelia leave with the boy, if only because she had developed an overbearing sense of panic whenever she was not around him, convinced that nobody save her could keep Basil under control, or at least, prevent him from leaping to his next big adventure. But as she observed how cool and calm the girl was in maneuvering Basil to his desired destination unhindered, she was pleasantly surprised to find her skepticism misdirected.

They moved so well together... It was as if intuitively, the female knew just how to occupy Basil's time, keep him bolstered to planet earth. He seemed perkier, more attentive when rapt in her presence. It fascinated her to no end. When reaching the tent-pole, Basil became initially absorbed with the glint from the metal, rubbing his palms upon the surface as if to attempt capturing it for his own. Disappointed in his failure at doing so, he took to instead wrapping his hands around it, one upon the other, tilting his forehead against it to feel the cool metal on his skin. He discovered it was hollow inside, to keep it light-weight when the staff-people were assembling and disassembling the tent no doubt.

Side by side the guardians stood, indulging in the duo's simple but ever magnificent antics. "Well," Genevieve began while scratching her head, "I'd have to check the thing inside the briefcase it came in, but...some type of glass, and a cobra..." She quickly added for accuracy's sake, "A uh...two-headed cobra." She rubbed her hands against one another, her fingertips virtually numb as she attempted to heat them.

As Basil caressed the metal, softly banging his head against it with an almost grisly grin set upon his sallow visage, something peculiar was happening... It started, as a low thrumming sound. Indistinct, but musical, like the eerie hum of a tuning fork. Basil's hands tightly gripped the stake, knuckles white as bone... The humming became louder, even moreso when the other stakes began to pick up the frequency. The canvas rippled, it shuddered and flapped-- one could feel the vibration from their feet upon the earth. Basil was concentrating with everything he had, trapped between two planes of consciousness; aware of what it was he was instigating, and yet not at all.

Looking neath the lid of his cup of cocoa, one of the men could distinctly see ripples in their beverage that steadily grew larger. If Basil had any more strength within him, he could have easily dislodged the poles from the ground and sent the tent collapsing! But thankfully just as Genie was about to step to his side to dislodge him, he tired out of his own accord, releasing his grip, and turning to the humans with nothing but the most sunny of smiles...

Genie's hand went to her forehead in both bemusement and disbelief, "If it wasn't obvious, I have a feeling the fun's just started..."

She giggled in that girlish way of hers that wholly showed if not proved how young Cordelia truly was. Basil's mannerisms were so very strange and foreign, having never seen anyone act quite the way he did. It made him all the more interesting to her. The cobra was unique, original, something his female counterpart could easily appreciate.

Though she didn't possess the necessary lower part of a body to feel the vibrations properly, Cordelia could still feel the parts of it that moved through the air. They weren't as strong or solid as it would have been in the ground, but there was enough of the invisible undulations to cause movement in the snake. She closed her eyes and absently allowed herself to become lost in the relaxing melody of the resonating poles. It started small, but soon her swaying grew in volume along with Basil's 'music', almost like she was dancing to a tune only they could hear and understand.

"A cobra huh? Well that certainly explains the resemblance then. I suppose they sort of are siblings in way then since Cordelia has a snake soul too." As she had with Ethan back on New Year's, Ebony took a moment to debate whether she should elaborate more on the girl's soul. Surely not everyone would have the same reaction the elder businessman had. Then again Genie had just mentioned it having been a two-headed snake, so something as far fetched as a basilisk wouldn't be too much for the woman she guessed. "To be accurate, she's a basilisk. But please don't mention it to her. As far as I know, she's not aware of it yet. I'd like to keep it that way for now."

When the vibrations pricked at her ears and Ebony could fully feel them creeping up her legs, the Brit took to eying the hooded youth with a curious arch to one of her brows. Exactly what were the children up to over there? Just when she was about to voice her question to the other woman, Basil abruptly halted his building crescendo. What was that all about?

"I think you're right Genie. But looks like things are settling back down again." She couldn't help a small chuckle as Cordelia finally realized that the vibrations had stopped and was pouting in that so very cute, but obviously she was not pleased way. "So where are you two heading now? More of the festival?"
PostPosted: Wed Jan 27, 2010 9:24 pm

Basil looked to his new companion expectantly, oblivious that she had been entranced by his performance. If he had known, it would have been quite advantageous, as Cordelia was nice... He wanted to be nice to her too any way he could.

Genevieve was drawing a blank in regards to the mention of a basilisk. Mythological and folkloric beasts were not exactly Genevieve's area of expertise, but of course she didn't want to look a fool in front of someone she had only just met today, so pretended as if this well-guarded secret was of the most dire porportions. As far at this woman knew, Genie was completely in the loop. All that she had gathered thus far, was it being a type of snake, or even snake-like. She would have to research it online once they had returned home... "A basilisk? Y'don't say." Considering how well their freis got along, she had a feeling this would not be the last of their encounters, and so wanted to be prepared with that particular nuggest of knowledge should it have come up in future conversations. "I'll guard it with my life." She solemnly consented.

Still, it remained quite a coincidence for on this day of days, her charge would cross paths with one of his own.

While Cordelia may have been young and spirited, Basil was younger still, and virtually an infant by comparison, rubbing his tired eyes with the broad side of his fist. Expelling so much energy had taken quite a bit out of him, his rune beginning to dim with his sudden absence of energy. Again, he relied on Cordelia to hold him up as he settled his head against her shoulder, despite her displeasure at the interruption of his abilities. At this, Genie could not help but smile warmly,

"Well, eh... Frankly this stuff doesn't too much for me, personally. I can only wander around eatin' corn dogs for so long before it wears itself thin... And from the looks of it, the lil' guy's had his fun for the day too. Maybe it's about time we hit the ol' dusty trail now that I know 'e weren't kidnapped or kill't or anything. What about you and the lil' lady?"

Like a light switch, Cordelia's mood easily slid from sulky and dark to happy and bright again when Basil looked to her with what she assumed was a shy smile. Was he embarrassed that he got carried away there for a bit? That was so cute! Once more she giggled light and beamed a impossibly big grin at the other snake.

Yet the light switch flipped again when the cobra gave a tired sigh and rubbed his dark eyes, using her as a means of support like before. Her smile faded and was replaced with concern for her friend. In understanding, Delia gave a gentle caress to one of his cold cheeks before floating him over to Genie. Slowly and carefully, the female Frei moved the sleepy boy to his rightful care giver. One more fond smile and light pat on his hooded head was given before slithering back to her own guardian.

Immediately the smokey girl wrapped her arms around Ebony's waist and leaned her own head upon the woman's shoulder with a sigh, mimicking Basil. "I suppose we have been out here long enough. Though it would have been nice to have actually enjoyed the festival rather than doing a run around." She looked to Cordelia pointedly, but it didn't last long before dissolving into a soft sigh. The Brit hugged her torso only of a ward and gave a small smile. "It was very nice to meet you and Basil. Perhaps we can arrange for a play date sometime soon. I'm sure Cordelia would love that, right?" The basilisk gave an enthusiastic nod, looking forward to seeing more of Basil in the future.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 29, 2010 8:23 pm

Genevieve was rather astonished when Cordelia had the foresight to bring Basil to her and place him upon her, where she proceeded to rub his back to assuage his spontaneous affection. Basil on the other hand, had all but completely checked out, eyelids heavy and groaning irritably as Genie moved him. It was clear that his endurance was definitely nothing worth speaking of, and it didn't take much to exhaust him, considering both his age and metaphysical constructs...

A warm house and maybe a few shiny utensils here and there would perk him up in no time. After all, he was still rather like a child-- if she didn't make sure to keep him awake all day he would be up the entire night prowling the house and scaring the bejeezus out of her with his...sculptures. Genevieve shifted him somewhat to her good shoulder as she replied, eliciting another throaty grumble,

"That'd be great, Miss...uh, Ebony? Hell, yer' girl there takes better care of 'im than I do, we'd love to seen more of 'er I'm sure. Y'got a cell-phone? I can give ya' my particulars, but!" She made sure to mention quite sternly, "God knows I hate layin' on the phone, so if ya' think of it, get ahold of me online, mmk?" She had her finger wagging in mid-air... Oh God, that was her mother's finger, how did that get there? Quickly she pretended as though she had raised the finger to tuck a bit of hair behind her ear.

Before Genevieve even uttered a sound, Ebony was shuffling between Frei and her purse in search of a piece of scrap paper and any suitable writing utensil. Luckily she managed to find a working pen rather than having to sacrifice her eyeliner. With great haste she scrawled her and Delia's names before adding those ever important digits.

"I don't..." There was the tell tale hints of an embarrassed blush slowly creeping onto the British woman's tanned cheeks as she handed the piece of paper over. To save face, or so she thought, Ebony gave a slight cough before rambling on. "...well I don't actually have email or anything like that, but I'll be sure to get it as soon as possible."

Cordelia gave a unpleasant huff and tugged on her guardian's sleeve. Apparently the basilisk's reservoir of patience had finally depleted and she was now eager to leave, even if that meant parting from her serpentine sibling. It wasn't good bye after all, Ebby had said they'd see them again soon. So now there was no reason to stay any longer than they had. Honestly, did the woman not realize there was a warm fireplace with her name on it awaiting them at home right this minute?

Sighing, "Okay okay, I get the point Cordelia." Turning to Genie and the knocked out Basil, another smile slipping onto her lips at that sight, Ebony gave a farewell wave as they made their departure. "Sorry Genie, you know how kids can be. Take care! We look forward to your call!"
