His eyes dulled a bit in thought. He was going to be a father. The words rolled around his jumbled brain for a long time trying to search out just what that meant. But in the end he didn't find the answer. It may be in here somewhere but he couldn't spend all day thinking on it. Well whatever it meant it was important enough for Regret to tell him about it. "I...I don't understand." He told her with a shake of the head.

"Oh this is a disaster!" War chirped angrily. Oh all the stupid things to go and do this was the stupidest. Now he had truly been wasting him time telling all the other mares that the herd didn't need foals.
"Shut up War." Peace snapped. "Thanos a father is someone who has children. You remember what children are right? Foals...you know those things that the other mares in the herd want. Well Regret is going to have foals."

Thanos' jaw dropped open. "That's what a father is?!?" His mind went into a spin. He was so confused now. How did this happen? When would this foal arriving thing happen? What did foals do? What did he have to do with foals? His tail swished about as he thought. And how would this affect Regret? Did she need to do anything? "How?...How?" He stuttered out not really sure what to say. "When...when will they be here?" He glanced around as if expecting the foals to just appear suddenly around him. They did that right? Just appear suddenly one day.

Regret watched as Thano's tried to grasp what it was she was trying to say, blinking slightly as he stated he didn't understand...hmm perhaps she should have been a bit more specific..or detailed, or something. But Thanos often didn't do well with details and she's though blunt might make more of an effect on his scrambled brain. But just as she opened her mouth to try and explain it better the rodents went haywire and something must have clicked in Thano's mind because he suddenly seemed to know what foals were. Regret had noticed that seemed to happen allot, Thanos would be confused...the rats would start making a racket and Thanos would understand. How very strange. Not the point of this conversation though and Reget shook her head to try and refocus her thoughts.

How...right, she cleared her throat "Well you remember that stormy...actually don't worry about that, you probably don't remember and it will just distract you" she backtracked for a few moments ear's flicking, in all truth she wasn't entirely sure how this had happened either. Thanos was dead..well sorta, but you'd think the whole decaying process would have put a damper on his ability to sire foals. Apparently this assumption was wrong and while she was still trying to figure out a way to answer his ho question the clearly agitated stallion came up with another one - oh well..at least this one she could answer. "Not for some time yet" She assured him. "Not until after my stomach has gotten very large" Gods this was like trying to explain where foals come from to a weanling.

Thanos tipped his head to the side as Regret tried her best to answer his questions. That stormy what he thought. Had the storm caused this? That could prove to be complicating in the future, storms could pop up quite often here. His eyes widened a bit, would they have foals each time that it stormed? Oh that would not be good at all. "The....the storm did this?" He asked somewhat hesitantly. If storms caused foals then he would have to move the herd to some place that didn't have storms. If that was even possible.

"Storms don't cause foals you idiot."
"Best to let the mare explain this one."

Thanos didn't hear what the rats were saying as he tried his best to concentrate on Regret. He stepped closer to her, somewhat hesitantly and bend his head down. He gently pushed his bony nose into her side. She was still quite thin so the concept of very large was a bit beyond him. "How big?" He asked, lifting his head back up. "What...uh...what does one do now?" Though he wasn't sure he worded the question right. He needed to know what one did now that foals were to be expected. Then he thought of another question. "Why does you stomach need to be bigger?" Didn't foals just come running out of the trees?

Regret's brows furrowed slightly as Thanos deduced that storms caused foals - she had known this discussion would be difficult, but she hadn't thought it would be this difficult. If she wasn't careful Thanos would blame the weather or simply spending time together for making foals - and then he'd either turn into a basket case every time it rained, or stop spending time with her - and while Regret wasn't supposed to care about that she actually did, which was unnerving in its own right but something to reflect on at a later time. Well there was only one way to actually set the record straight in this case - but for some reason Regret didn't want to explain it out loud - almost as if she was embarrassed another member of the herd might come by and overhear.

But this thought was waylaid hen he started poking her in the stomach with his cold bony nose causing her to swish her snarly tail in agitation, though she knew he wasn't trying to irritate her. Regret had always been somewhat moody when it came to pregnancy. "Big enough!" She told him in an irate tone thought she sighed and tried to proceed in a more civil one after that. "Having foals is very hard work" she told the stallion "I will have to make sure I eat and drink enough to keep them healthy until they come" she explained which would seriously cut down on her wandering time - Regret supposed she'd have to figure out a different way to keep her memories from coming back. "Thats where they grow" She told him impatiently, sidestepping away from his prodding nose with another irate swish of her tail. She had been meaning to tell him something else too..what was it..oh yeah, she had to set the record straight on storms, else with her luck that would be the one detail he actually did manage to keep hold of. Turning about she sighed and whispered the 'how' of things into his ear. Surely he would remember now she thought with a bit of a snort. Males.

Thanos was quite surprised at Regrets sudden snapping at him. It was very rare for Regret to get snippy with him. Maybe she was mad that the storm did this. Yes that would explain it. Stupid storms, he thought. But then his mind focused on something else, she said she would need to eat and drink enough and from what he could remember Regret rarely ate or drank. Well now he would have to keep an eye on her even more, to make sure she did those things. And though he wasn't at all sure if having foals was a good idea he knew that in the end he had to take care of Regret. "Have you eaten today? Or taken a drink? We should go to the stream now. And I'll have Rowan find you some apples, they will be a bit old though." He rambled on not really sure how he was going to accomplish all these things. He had time right? He could make sure she ate and drank and did whatever else she had to do.

"Great now he will be wasting all his efforts on her."
"He won't be wasting his efforts. This is a big deal."

When Regret leaned closer he thought for a moment she might bite him given her foul mood. If she did then he would deal with it. Then she began to whisper in his ear. "Oh..." He said at first when she finished her details of how it happened. Then it all suddenly came clear to him and his eyes turned a bright red the way they did when he wanted to smile. "OH!" He exclaimed when it all made sense. Not a storm at all then. Well that was a huge relief.

Regret flushed a bit as Thanos eyes suddenly burned a bit brighter when he realised the how of things, but that was silly - she was a grown horse. She could do what she wanted to and to hell what anyone thought of it she told herself. She wasn't supposed to care anyways! Just like she didn't care what the rest of the herd thought of her, they'd probably think less of her now - the stallion anyways, the mares might just be jealous. That was alright Regret didn't have a problem with one upping the others in the herd given the chance, she might be what they called an 'outsider' but she knew how to use her circumstances to her own benefit. She'd once been quite sneaky and manipulative. Maybe she should tell them that, maybe they would think better of her. But that would mean revisiting memories she didn't want to, even this brief trip of reflection made her shake her head slightly - and besides she didn't care. Really.

Getting off topic she told herself and refocused on Thanos, he'd asked her something - if she'd eaten or drank today and Regret screwed up her face a bit as she tried to recall. She didn't think she had - she'd been so preoccupied with thinking about her situation and how to tell Thanos that she'd probably forgotten. "I don't think so" she finally answered, though she wasn't one hundred percent sure of her answer it seemed like the safest choice - even if she had doing so again couldn't hurt. Besides...it would be amusing for Thanos to make Rowan fetch her apples. "But that is probably some good ideas" She told the stallion in regards to going to the stream and finding something to eat. Besides Thanos liked it when she agreed with his ideas - the rest of his herd argued with him so much that she was pretty sure part of the reason he liked her was because she didn't.

So she hadn't eaten yet today. Well then he needed to do something about that. Maybe they could find some good grass on the way to the stream. The stream, right they were gonna go there. His eyes had now returned to their normal darker glow as he looked upon Regret again. "Come then, let's go to the stream." There was a chance that they would run into Rowan while out there, and if so he would send him on the apple fetching errand. Rowan was one of the few horses that seemed to want to do things for Thanos, so in a small way he liked the palomino stallion. He began to walk slowly with Regret in the direction of the stream.

"We should just drown her in the stream."
"Don't you even think about telling him to do that. Besides did you ever think that his foals might just be the evil little spawn that are needed to push this herd into motion."
War looked oddly at Peace. "Who are you and what have you done with my brother?"
"Oh shut up."

Their walk was filled with silence. Nothing new there. But this time it was only so that Thanos could try to think things through. He was going to be a father...and there would be foals soon. How soon he wasn't sure, Regret said it would be a while but how long was a while. And how did they grow in her stomach? More importantly how did they get out of her stomach? He would need to ask a lot of questions to get this all figured out. But Regret didn't seem too open to questions right now.

His eyes searched the ground as they went along. He had to find something for her to eat. There was grass, but it was partially buried under the annoying white snow. The leaves on most trees were gone, some still had green bits on them but he wasn't sure that those were leaves. Maybe there would be things to eat near the stream. Yes that's where he could find her food, at the stream. Maybe he could catch a fish for her to eat. Wait horses didn't eat fish, did they? He shook his head and continued on at the slow pace his eye moving to Regret now and then.

Regret turned her bleary eyes in the direction of Thanos as he turned to lead her to the Stream. Thankfully the stream wasn't all that far away, though a good long walk might do her some good, clear her mind. In any case Regret thought perhaps she should start staying closer to the center of the herd lands, it would mean she ran into other herd members a bit more often but there was more shelter here...and food...and water and while such things didn't cross her mind when she was only thinking about herself she had a bit more responsibility now, something other to think about then just herself. Even if she didn't really care - which he didn't she told herself firmly with a stamp of her hoof. "Perhaps I should stay closer to the herd for a while" She told Thanos hesitantly - she didn't really want to do such a thing but it did seem like the best course of action. "Maybe by the stream" she continued as a dark shape fluttered past the two horses to land on a tree ahead, where it seemed to be waiting for them to catch up so it could fly to the next tree and so on and so forth until they reached the stream. This had become a rather common occurrence in regards to the Raven and it no longer trouble the mare.

Thanos snapped out of his search for suitable food on the ground as Regret spoke. Why yes, yes she should stay closer to the herd. He wished she did that before, but for some reason she seemed to prefer the outskirts of the herds territory. "Yes," he began. "That is a good idea." And if she stayed near the stream she should have no reason to not drink. He would need to make sure that there was plenty of food near the stream as well. If not he would need food brought to her. His thoughts on all these details were interrupted when they finally reached the stream. It was a relatively small stream but it supported all the horses in his herd.

"This place will provide good shelter for her." Peace told the stallion.

His eyes moved to look at the trees. Yes they were thicker here, that would provide good shelter. And well as for food....he looked around. He could see some grass and a few bushes around. That would do for now but she would likely need more...no not likely, she would need more. Something else for Rowan to attend to. He made a mental note to order that stallion to start gathering as much food as he could and bring it here. Now if only he could find the stallion before he forgot this. He turned back to Regret. "This is a good spot." He told her. "Nice and sheltered. Plenty to drink and eat. And I will not be far away."

Thanos seemed well pleased with her desire to stay closer to the herd - she had figured he would be, she was well aware that the beast was constantly paranoid about her existence on the boundary of his lands. He was always worried she would leave or be stolen away by another - she snorted in amusement at that thought, like that would ever happen, like anyone else would want her.

Although as she eyed the area she had to admit it looked like a suitable place to await the foals arrival and she bobbed her head slowly in agreement. Regret sighed slightly as she did so however - what would happen to her? Being confined in one spot for so long would almost certainly bring back her memories and she still had no idea how she would be able to deal with this problem. It was something she would need to work on she supposed since this situation couldn't be helped now. It was far to late for that.

there was something else she had been thinking about earlier...something that pertained tothe herd...or the stream..or something. ah yes..Rowan that was it, that palomino with his ropes, she had to remind Thanos to torment him that was easily done. "I will need more food then this" She stated blandly knowing that Thanos would almost certainly return to thinking about placing this duty upon Rowan's shoulders.

Rowan was returning from his border checks to the east. He had seen nothing of interest there so he had wandered around a good chunk of the rest of the herd's borders. Now he was on his way back to the central area where the herd current stood around lazily all day. It wasn't that Thanos hadn't tried to get them going, oh no the black stallion spent many hours of each day trying his best, but it was like his words were falling to deaf ears. What a shame. They had all showed so much spirit and potential in Hell and now...well they were practically like normal horses now, concerned with filling their bellies and finding a mate. Well Rowan wasn't about to let that happen to him.

Coming up along the small stream that was about half way between the center of the herds area and the western border Rowan spotted Regret and Thanos. Well damn he hadn't expected them out here. Turning he went to cut across the land but Thanos called him over so he was forced to turn once more and head to the pair. Once he got close enough he came to a stop and inclined his head respectfully to Thanos, and then did the same to Regret. Well why not try to get in the stallions good graces by treating the mare as Thanos' equal. Rowan wanted to more up in the herd and he saw Regret as his ticket it. "Is there something you needed?"
PostPosted: Tue Jan 26, 2010 9:02 am

Yes Thanos supposed she would need more food than this. Though right now Regret ate so little he wasn't sure how much extra she would need. Well either way he would make sure she got what was needed. "Yes," he began after a pause. "I'll set Rowan to it as soon as I see him again." He could have made all the herd members pitch in but honestly he didn't think the lazy buggers would.

"Rowan the errand boy!" War chirped madly. She was both excited about Thanos bossing the younger stallion around and pissed that he was doing it to one who had actually started to show some potential.
"Hey isn't that Rowan over there?" Peace stated.

Thanos lifted his head to see the unmistakable outline of Rowan and his dangling ropes making their way across the open field. "Rowan!" He called out to the stallion, hoping to get his attention. Well it worked. The palomino turned towards where he and Regret were standing. Soon enough Rowan was here and now Thanos just had to remember why he had called him over in the first place. He glanced at Regret and then it suddenly clicked. "Regret will be staying closer to the herd. I want you to go out and gather food for her. Whatever you can find I suppose." The he looked back at Regret. "Unless you want something specific." Turning back to the stallion. "Whatever she needs is up to you. I will help out as well but I will need you to fill in when I'm busy."

Regret was inwardly pleased when Thanos returned to thnking about giving Rowan the job of 'Regret's servant', she wasn't sure why she found so much amusement in tormenting the noosed stallion - but with Regret even a small amount of amusement was not something to squander and so she intended to play it to the hilt. It helped that Thanos was so easily manipulated most of them time - even if she had to prod his memory now and again. "Good - he is the reliable sort" She told the black stallion, subtly encouraging him to give the beast even more responsibility. It galled her that this was true - out of the entire Hell Herd regret was pretty certain that Rowan was probably the only one worth anything other then Thanos.

Her thoughts were cut short when Thanos suddenly called out, her bleary eyes searched the area for a few moments before coming to rest upon Rowan just as he reached them, she returned his nod with a blank stare - just because she thought him reliable didn't mean she should return any such signs. Besides - she didn't care what he thought of her anyways. She did wonder what he would think of playing servant - no doubt he wouldn't be pleased with it, and while she could quite easily tell him why she needed this done for her Regret felt no need to supplement Thanos orders with a reason. Thanos had told the beast what to do and that as far as Regret thought - should be good enough. "Whatever the beast find that is edible will be fine" she told Thanos though her words were obviously meant for Rowan's ears.

Rowan listened carefully to Thanos and Regrets words. That is why they called me over here, he thought. He was to play servant to Regret. He hide his anger and confusion about this well, not even a hint of it came across his features. You do what you must to get to the top he mentally told himself. And if that meant being a servant to Regret then so be it. He looked to Regret and then Thanos.

"As you wish." He told them, though it was more directed at Thanos than Regret. The palomino shifted his weight a bit for a moment as if expecting to be given any more duties. When nothing else came he figured he better get to work, the sooner he started then the quicker he could get into good standings with the two. "Well then I shall attend to that right away. I will bring the food here when I find it." With that Rowan bowed to both of them and set off. He waited until he was a good distance away from them to mumble madly to himself about his current situation.

Thanos watched as Rowan showed a good amount of respect to Regret as he was informed of his duties. It would be wise of the young stallion to not anger her or Thanos in any way. Though Rowan did seem to have his a good mind about him. "Good see to it you do this every day." He told the stallion before Rowan left to attend to said duties. He watched him with red glowing eyes for a while before finally turning to look at Regret again. "He is reliable isn't he."

"Reliable and eager to please." Peace stated.
"He has too much potential in him to be her errand boy!" War snapped.

"Quiet you two." Thanos said to the rats. Then his attention turned back to Regret. His head tipped to the side as he looked at her. What was it about her that caused him to remember things? Did she have some magical power on his memories? Well did it really matter? No, not at all, the point was around her he could remember, albeit it was mostly things about her, but it was a start at least. "Make sure he sees to your needs." He told her after a very long pause.
