Aurilien was impressed with the strength of the shinigami as he did drive his blade downwards, but not at a pace that he had to be concerned. His punch did miss but a free hand still was all he needed to end a battle. After seeing and sensing the focus put forth by Ichimu with his effort to strike he was able to quickly build up the reaitsu in his free hand. As he did so he noted the shifting spiritual pressure within Ichimu as if he was beginning to awaken within. He had once experienced this himself quite a long time ago and in order to properly discuss with the said spirit it was better that one leave this world briefly.
Moving his hand with enhanced speed he struck directly towards the neck, between the shoulder blade to touch upon the nerve, which would put the shinigami to sleep. He felt it was the appropriate action to take as he sensed the shift, Ichimu was ready to speak to his spirit, he would merely be the tool that allowed him to perform this act. He felt the pressure lessen from the blade above and knew his strike had appropriately hit its mark. Pleasant dreams Ichimu and I hope you obtain all you seek he thought as he stepped a few paces backwards, watching the collapsing figure.
