Guinevere squeaked as he poked her back, waving away his hands. Looking up at him and scowling a bit, she said, "Well, I'm sure I don't want to know, anyway." She did. Guinevere was the nosiest person for miles around.
The fact that he hadn't been romantically involved with any Heralds, while not that surprising, (even Guinevere didn't know that many female Heralds that were around their age), was still interesting to her. She looked up at him. "What, none at all?" she asked. "I mean, there's Shayna, and..."
"And Mackerel!" Mackerel was around their age, right?
"And..." Who else was left?
"Me?" she ended, lamely. Her, Mackerel, and Shayna. Not exactly spoiled for choice. "There really aren't that many Heralds around, are there?" she murmured, half to herself.

Hey. Even if he told her, she would probably have no idea what he was talking about. And then she'd have to go find out. And then she would be horribly out of place. Because many of the places that he goes to while not working or sleeping aren't the most....kosher places ever.
"Nnnnneope." Really, aside from her and Jin Tian, he hadn't seen anyone that was older than a kid for quite some time. Probably because he had been out of the loop of everything lately, but still.
And as she finished off the incredibly short list of possible Herald-girlfriends he could have, he made a sound that was something between a snort and a gasp. "Why, Guinevere," he said, sounding actually genuinely slightly surprised. "You wouldn't be trying to ask me out, would you?"

That had been the last thing on Guinevere's mind. She had been listing facts, and she happened to be one of the facts, and so when Lind suggested it, she was totally blindsided. "Wh-what?! No! Of course not, I was just listing things!"
She paused.
"What would you have said if I was?" she asked carefully, narrowing her eyes at him. Her nosiness had gotten the better of her again.

Oh yes. The last thing on her mind. Sure. Suuuure. Of course it was. Totally believing that over here. Mmhmm. Her only response to that was something of a snort from Lind.
"Well," he said, stretching his arms over his head. "I guess you'll never know, eh?" Sometimes, Guin, sometimes your nosiness might lead you to strange places you really aren't sure you want to go to.
Or does she? OHOHO.

"I guess I won't, then!" Guinevere exclaimed, turning her back to him. "Doesn't bother me at all."
Of course it didn't. Who in their right mind would care about whether or not Aethelind wanted to date them? It was completely trivial knowledge!
Completely trivial! She didn't want to know at all.
Shaking her fists slightly in frustration, she turned back to him. "What if I was asking you out," she asked. She hadn't been. But now she was curious.

Oh what. Is she saying that no one in their right mind would want him to date them? Ouch. Hitting a bit below the belt there, aren't we? "Right. Not bothering you at all." Which was a complete load of bullshit. Anyone could see that something was bothering her.
He's gonna go out on a limb and say that it might be the fact that she's just not getting an answer. Not quite sure if he could completely grasp the other option at the moment.
"Weee-eeeell..." This was...certainly an interesting twist of events. "Are you?" Not nice to yank a girl around by her heartstrings, you know.
....theoretically. Because, you know. Lind's not a girl and all.

"Well, maybe I am!" she said huffily. "What do you say to that, hmmm?"
She didn't think that he would say yes, so she could probably push her luck like this. It was the fact that he hadn't answered yet that made her frustratingly curious. She hated when people didn't tell her things, especially when they were things that concerned her. Guinevere studied Heralds because she was a busybody. She liked being in the know.

"Well," he responded equally as huffily. "Maybe I would say yes. What would you say to tthat?"
Of course, he hadn't been quite thinking this out before saying anything, and it took him a few moments to realize what he had actually said. Sometimes he kinda got tired of....being tired and having slower mental processes.
Well.
This had the potential to be horrifyingly awkward.

"I'll see you at eight, then, is what I'd say!" said Guinevere, pleased that she had wiggled it out of him.
Her thought process caught up with her moments later. Yes. Date. Aethelind.
She thought a very unladylike word.
"Well, I really have to be going," she stammered. "Long day and... And stuff. I'll be... I'll be seeing you around! Maybe. I mean, probably. Since we have a, um." She couldn't say it. "Um, yes. Good day!"
From within the house, she thought she could hear laughter.

"Alright then!" Geeze. So pushy. Why does she have to be so....
"...Wait. What?" Did she just....did she mean that...
...wait, what? Did Guinevere, of all people, just ask him out on a date? Did the world stop turning? Did hell freeze over? Did that just happen?!
"I...uh...yeah. Right. I'll...see you, then." He watched her walk away, seeming to be in something of a daze as he slowly rocked back and forth on the ******** me twice on Sunday."
