"I think Mom doesn't like them because they remind her of something," Reiya said. Well, she knew her mother didn't like them because they reminded her of something.
Sammi clearly thought that being an assassin wasn't a very nice job at all. She didn "My Uncle Zee was almost a prince," she told Eve. "He was supposed to marry a princess, but she kept running away--so he stayed an an assassin--until he followed the princess all the way here and fell in love with someone different entirely." There, that was good. She hadn't mentioned who the princess was.

"It reminds me of the times I had to go to dinner parties with my family in such dresses," Ivy replied. Everyone was reminded of something by another item.
Eve's face lit up, "That sounds like something that happens in the stories, my mommy reads to me." Eve glanced at her mother at the mention of marriage, wondering why her mother wasn't with someone like the other parents.

"Mom's a--" Reiya paused, self-conciously tugging at her ear. "Well. Um. She's an elf." Good coverup, but she was stating the obvious now. What could she do? "She comes from a powerful family, and they tried to arrange her marriage. I think dresses remind her of that."
"It is like a fairytale, isn't it?" Sammi asked. "Uncle Zee hasn't gotten his happily ever after yet, though. Soon; they're engaged."

Ivy understood that though she doubted their mother had three men that acted like she was their father. She merely nodded and glanced towards a rack of skirts that looked like something Eve would wear willing.
Eve nodded, "Sounds like one. My mommy hasn't found her prince, I think." she smiled at the thought of her mother meeting a prince of her own.
Ivy forced a smile when she heard her daughter's words.
