User Image "There they are! Onward, onward! To Cyric's side!"

A sudden shout had come from the far south end of the battlefield. To those who took notice, it could be seen that a battalion, if that much, of knights were galloping toward their fellow Estarcian troops. Their horses made their speed great and soon they would be in the fray. However, to all who noticed this surprise, an obvious question must be rattling crazily within their mind: Where did they come from?

After Cornelius had left King Chanticlier's sight, he hastily made his way to round up all available soldiers. It did not take long, for there really were not many available. They would not be able to turn the tide of the battle. So, it was a good thing that doing so was not going to be their goal. After rounding up all the men he could, Cornelius had them running to their horses and even had a mount prepared for him. Truthfully, though he did know how to ride, he had not had to ride out places even when he was out in the field. His specialty was being a a human tank. Still, walking would do no good in this case.

Preparing the men took very little time. With all the units being mounted, it also took very little time to get moving. Most of the men were scouts, which are known for their speed. That was probably why they weren't sent out with Cyric, as well. Having many scouts defeats a purpose of scouting. In any case, the men were well on their way.

It did not take them too long to reach the battlefield. They were a smaller, faster group. And with their arrival, their mission had commenced. They charged, after hearing Cornelius' shout. As the general led the men toward the mountain battle, Cornelius soon spotted Cyric, and began to ride to his side.

"Cyric! Get your men out of there!"

I've been lost in loneliness, of these nights deeper than darkness

I want someone to notice now...
Because I want to get out of here

-Cyric-

Oh thank the heavens above. No words could express just how relieved Cyric was to see Cornelius here of all people. Their path was made clear to them as the general came up beside him. Retreat he says..that's just what the Captain needed. "Clear the path, Cornelius!" Shouting to his ally as he watched Cornelius come closer toward him.

Cyric lifted two fingers to his lips, piercing the air with a sharp whistle. With a few more hand gestures, the surviving squad members took their leave while they had a chance, all passing their captain before Cyric followed after them, making sure each and everyone of his men that he had dragged out were ahead of him. Tanya grabbed hold of Cyric's hand when offered and was pulled up behind him since she didn't have a mount to ride on in the first place.

But this battle wasn't over, for now survival was the best of all choices. They will return in due time, with help this time.

I don't want a fight. So I can't say anything...

I have dreams and ideals...
But my feelings just keep taking over...

User Image It seemed that Cyric got the message, for he soon issued to order for his troops to pull back. As the captain of the Guard and his men began to conduct their retreat, Cornelius and his men maneuvered their way behind them and began to circle around and follow them from behind.

"Watch the enemy! If they pursue, make sure they get nowhere near our weary comrades!"

As the retreat continued, they were all close to being out of the mountain path. If the enemy saw that more men had arrived, perhaps they would be more cautious in their assault. Whatever would allow for more time would be well accepted. Once the troops escaped the mountain and were on their way back to the capital with better speed, a pursuing enemy would soon be a trapped enemy. It would be safe to presume that the commander of these wyverns was a smart enough man to realize this.

Still, Cornelius gripped his spear, ready to throw it at any given moment's time. He glanced back toward the front for a moment and saw that most of Cyric's men had made it out of the path. This battle was over; thank goodness not everyone had been lost.
