And Melody was one of the only friends Ignacio had, and probably the closest. He wanted to get closer to Grayson, but it would be a while before that happened and Ignacio was, unfortunately, aware of that much. He didn't get to see Melody nearly enough while she was at her stupid prissy school; maybe they could go to the same college, though, if her mother didn't have some kind of alumni way into another college. That'd be nice.
...Dinner. Hrm. Ignacio pondered for a few moments before replying, "Mama's taking more hours at work and Papa is being... Papa," Melody would know what that means, and that was all Ignacio had to say. "I'm sure I can come over for dinner soon, though. Maybe we could schedule it when I have a better idea of my week's schedule? Gotta watch Raina, after all."
He'd feel worse about lying, except he was determined that he was doing it to protect Melody and protect himself from coddling.

One of these days he was going to have to get used to her coddling him. And used to her being upset at him too, because once she found out he was lying to her she was going to be very upset at him. And glare, oh was she going to glare at him.
So scary!
She gave a nod, another thoughtful look on her face. "Yea, I guess with Momma working more Raina will need some one to watch her." She was going to ignore the comment about his father, as the man had a penchant for not saying the nicest things. He liked being heavy worded in his parenting which wasn't fair for Ignacio nine times out of ten.
"I'll let momma know and see what we can come up with." Maybe she'd even call his mom and see what would be easiest on her.

"Alright. Call me after you discuss it with your mom." Ignacio wanted to avoid her calling home as much as possible, because she would probably only get a response about Ignacio not having been home for a while. Quite a while.
He needed to get out of questions before she starting asking questions about why it was important to call him first. "I might not be home, after all. I've been staying at school for a few extra hours so I could rehearse for the play and such." That made sense, even if Ignacio was prone to randomly leaving in the middle of play practices thanks to boredom or distraction with random thoughts.
Yeah, that would cover him. Ignacio was too busy playing with his camera again anyway.

She was going to ask until he mentioned the play again, and her curiosity was sated for now. But that was for now, she'd find out sooner or later. He better remember his excuses least he fudge things up at a later point and give himself away.
"Okay, guess that makes sense." Brown watched him play with the camera and she smiled slightly. "Going to take lots of pictures for me?"

While his story seemed to keep stacking, the excuse about the so-called mystery play was an excuse he had been consistently using when anyone asked why he was at the school so late. He was just starting to stack more and more onto his carefully crafted lie to make sure no one found out what was actually going on in Ignacio's chaotic life.
It would yet to be seen if he was keeping proper track of his lies. "You got it! I'll take pictures of the school, too, so you can see how boring it is compared to your prissy school." A snicker. "I can take a picture of some students' pasty legs. See, my legs are freckled, so they don't look as obviously glowbright, but for some people..."
And the topic was off him again, anyway.

"I want pictures of everything! School, home, any friends you may have made." A bright smile, hands disappearing behind her back. "I want to see what Ignacio's new world looks like, so I expect a lot of pictures of everything."
She only only imagine the horror of those shorts, didn't they have pants for the winter at least?! and wondered idly what Azzo would look like in them. Blushing faintly she shook her head and tried to push the thoughts from her mind. It was the first time in the last few days (gosh was this crazy week really almost over?) she had thought of the boy she'd met at the hospital and her heart was speeding up at such a thought.
Why did he feel so important to her? Her blush only got brighter and was likely to attract Ignacio's attention soon.

Maybe Ignacio would take a picture of Grayson. A couple pictures of Grayson. Oh, and maybe some other people, like his stupid teacher in British Literature with her stupid dioramas and her idiotic, cheesy smile that attempted to make you like her but always failed. "Alright! Will do. I'll have a bunch of awesome pictures, and when I remember, you'll get every single one."
One of the good things about being easily distracted was that it provided easy excuses when Ignacio thought of it. He was well-aware of the fact that his attentions tended to jump around, especially after his Papa cared to remind him of it plenty of times. Ignacio fiddled around with his camera until he looked up to see Melody blushing brightly like some kind of ripe tomato.
"Uh, Mellie? Are you alright? You look like you turned into a tomato."

She squeaked as he called attention to her flushing, having not been paying attention to his promising to take lots of pictures. "W-what? Did you say something?"
Her hands had come up to rest against her bright red cheeks, looking for all the world a shy, love-sick girl. Not that she could ever understand why and for whom.
"I-I'm fine really! The cold is... well cold." Smooooth.

This was... weird. Ignacio hoped that she wasn't suddenly taking her mother's words to heart, because no offense Melody, but Ignacio really didn't want to date her. He didn't want to confront the idea of dating her anymore than he had to when her mother brought it up. He quirked a brow at her suspiciously, before finally saying, "That is not a cold blush. See, then you'd have goosebumps on that skin of yours too, and you don't."
So, Ignacio decided to cross his arms and ask concerned, like a typical big brother should do, "So really, what's up?" He was allowed to have his secrets for the safety of Melody and himself. Melody, on the other hand, was not allowed to have a single one for her safety and so he could be a protective big brother like he properly should have been.

"T-the sky is up?" she replied in a not so convincing manner, puffing her cheeks up when she knew he wasn't going to buy it. And then her hands fell beside her as she let out a sigh. It was a confused sigh and an "I'm not sure what I'm going to do" sigh. Idly her heeled boots kicked at the snow.
"I-I don't know... I just... was thinking about a guy, I guess."

Oh god, a guy?! Not a guy. Anything but a guy. Maybe this meant she was taking her mother seriously. She came to find his school so she could find him more easily after she escaped from her prissy school, she started blushing randomly after talking to him, she got him an expensive gift... Oh god, why now?! Why did she suddenly love him differently? Would he have to let her off gently?
"If this is about me, Mellie," Ignacio said, cautiously, "I'm not interested. You know this as well as I do. We're siblings. Nothing more. Please don't take your mother seriously."
This was incredibly egocentric of him to assume that Melody was blushing like a tomato because she was thinking of him. Knowing Ignacio, though, the egocentric assumption wouldn't at all be that surprising. He did seem to notice it, because he said afterwards, "Well, unless it's not me. Than continue to not take your mother seriously, and tell me who this guy is so I can meet him." This wasn't a request.

At that she shot him a look, one of those "are you insane?!" looks that meant that he was obviously on drugs. Or maybe becoming a bum was having odd effects on his brain. The girl let out a sigh as her blushing slowly started to disappear.
"Please, Ignacio. The day I start taking my mother seriously is the day I give up my brightly colored make-ups and jewelery." And her brightly colored things made her smile, so like hell she was giving up those anytime soon. Though she had to admit that it was cute how he thought it was him, because there had been one time in her life (she was young and stupid) that she had thought of him as dating material despite their sibling like relationship. He was a cutie, who was she to deny that?
"But no... It's this guy I met at the hospital. He's one of the survivors of the school-organ ring-thing. He's kind of cute, in that puppy dog way~"

Ignacio let out a sigh of relief. Oh thank goodness, that tragedy was avoided. Melody was one of the few people he was certain didn't want him in bed, and the last thing he wanted to do was add his little sister to the list. Ew. Squicking himself at the thought, Ignacio brought up his shoulders and shuddered in a show of disgust before he settled back down.
Wait, puppy dog way? He had met someone on Friday with odd hair like puppy dog ears, who was talking about Melody too. And they had met in the hospital... Oh come on, his little sister had a crush already? Wasn't it a little soon? Sure, the man seemed nice enough, but how long ago had they met? Ignacio had just met the guy recently, and they hadn't been in the hospital long anyway, and Ignacio was certain he had never seen Melody with Azzo before!
"Azzo, right?" asked Ignacio, to confirm, with a quirked brow.

It was NOT a crush. It was- Well, she didn't know what it was but it wasn't a crush! Maybe... Fffft, she could crush if she wanted!
A small nod left her as he asked about Azzo's name. "Mmhm. Azzo Crowley. I met him when I got lost after our wheelchair race, then went and said goodbye when I was being discharged. Of course there was also a youma and some Sailor Senshi saved us, but it was all good!"
Or was it? Hm, maybe she should have kept her mouth shut?

"That was the same story Azzo told me," offered Ignacio, with a chuckle. "Don't worry about it." Ignacio believed the story well enough. The whole 'sensing monsters' thing, though, Ignacio would have to look more into himself. He did get strange chills up and down his spine lately with no real explanation; perhaps he was sensing monsters...
But Ignacio hadn't run into any monsters yet. And Azzo had only run into them once. "Glad to see you're alright. But seriously, isn't it a little soon to be developing crushes on people? I mean, you just met the guy." Ignacio was such a hypocrite, all things considered, but Melody didn't need to know that. She was his little sister, and therefore, every boy that came near her needed the approval of his scruntizing eye first.
Poor Melody, for Ignacio actually cared about her.
