I actually have a problem with Cunningham, even though his information books are good, I feel he's too coven based and secretive. I know, I know, that's how he practiced but I don't care. It's those old school, must be secret rules that cause us witches to have a bad rep. You all do indeed relise that most people believe we sacrifice goats and such to Satan (I have no problem with Satanists either mind you my fiancee is an Anton LaVey Satanist) but the secrets just make us look bad. I feel we need to be open to the curious and uneducated. Wouldn't it be nice if witchcraft and the like was more main stream. More people worshipping the Goddess and God? That's just my opinion.

it's kind of what we're learning about in history class right now. way back when, immigrants to america had tarnished reputations because loads of people believe that they were all anarchists or communists. mind, some of them were, but on the whole they were just large groups of people trying to get away from their poverty, war-stricken countries and settle some place with promise. it's the same with wicca more or less. all most of us want to do is practice our religion in peace, and yet, do to misinformation, lies, and the few crazy ones that practice to hurt or scare people give all the others bad names. history repeats itself, and the misunderstandings continue.

unless it was a whole family wiccan thing the people would normally go on like a regular funeral. Rizu-Sensei i have a sort of umbrella question... how do witches handle death? i have no idea what goes on at pagan funerals, or how they pass on the body (cremation? burial? where would they bury it? O.O ). do you know of any rituals for commemorating a death, a ritual for remembering their spirit maybe? the 10th anniversary of my grandad's death is coming up, and i'm not sure what is appropriate for such an occasion....and answers would also help satiate my curiosity. biggrin

Im the only Wiccan in my family, and I would hope that my loved ones would intern me the way I requested. They would most likely have a priest and/or priestess speak a share and such.

When it comes to my eventual death I have no preferences as far as ceremony goes. Whatever brings my loved ones the most peace when I pass is what I want, be it Wiccan or other. The way I see it is once I am well and truly gone I will be somewhere else with other worries, and what is left is just a shell. I do want some kind of funeral simply because I believe it will help my loved ones deal with their grief at my eventual passing, and as long as it helps fulfill that end I will be happy.

Like my mum asked me if I wanted to go with her if she starts to go "back to church"

Ok, so now I have a question. I know along the way I am doing something wrong, when I preform a ritual, such as a Sabbat and so on, I feel completely drained of energy. What I think i'm doing is i'm using too much of my enegry, and not enough from other sources.

What I think i'm doing is i'm using too much of my enegry, and not enough from other sources. I have that same problem too sometimes. Do you ground after you're done? It could be excess energy making you feel sluggish (that's not considered the "usual" reaction but it is a possible one). If that's not it, you might try pulling in energy from sources around you. I'm not too terribly good at that, but I know the author Kerr Cuhulain covers it in one of his books (I have Full Contact Magick by him, it says on the cover it's for "wiccan warriors" but it has NOTHING to do with attacking or anything like that). Sorry I can't be of more help, hun.

Im just glad im not the only one. Do you feel like you've had too much to drink afterwards?? My altar being next to my bed is good for me, so the minute im done I typically take part in my favorite hobby: napping.

Sometimes it feels like that, other times it's similar to mania. When I get the other feeling I try to ground and typically feel better after that. Something else you can try is eating something afterward. Not a huge meal, but something like a few crackers, or a slice of cheese, along those lines. Sometimes eating something small can help ground us. So you can try keeping something small next to your bed for when you're done, see if that might help you out.

Rizu-Sensei thanks! ^_^ silver ravenwolf is my favorite. another guild that i'm in had a thread bashing her, and i think i'm going to quit it....people shouldn't look down on you because you learned magic from a book, 'cuz frankly for some of us that's really the only way we can learn right now... I myself, don't like Ravenwolf but I will respect if someone else likes her. Anyone read "Drawing Down the Moon" by Margot Adler? I'm currently reading it and I LOVE it!!!

I agree. I won't bash upon her, but I find her...contrived? Is that the right word? Anyway. I tend to stick with Grimoire For The Green Witch. Ann Moura is fabulous, and other books I've read just don't compare. I tend to be really picky, so please don't take offense to the Silver Ravenwolf thingy.

Jai Maa Kali! I agree on Silver Ravenwolf. I find that she's a bit full of herself and highly misinformed about a good deal that she writes about. It's unfortunate that someone can write so many books and not have an ounce of factual information in them.
Anyway, ask me anything. I'll answer questions to the best of my witchy abilities. wink
