Talia's thoughts exactly. Sooner or later Kouji needed to accept that she wasn't going to tell him everytime she left for a day or longer.

Her tail thumped against his figure once or twice as she circled around alongside of him, taking a harmless bite at him in return. "Nah, it's much more exciting if we don't." She chuckled just as playfully, eyes showing her excitement. With just a routine morning stretch and shake to wake her muscles and settle her fur, the female padded forward a few steps, then looked back to her mate as if to teasingly ask-- "Well, are you coming?".

Tsume chuckled and lept after his dark-furred mate. Heading into the forest towards south he took the journey at a light run for now. He looked back at Talia to see what she thought about the pace.

She grinned inwardly and bounded a bit to fall into the pace, soon enough keeping easy pace with the rugged male. It wasn't very long before they were approaching the borders of the freelands, at least the areas that most wolves inhabited and traveled.

As their two figures disappeared into the dark of the forest, another thrill pulsed through her veins. The journey had begun.

--------

After a while she picked up the pace a bit to move alongside Tsume, sending him a flash of a smile. They'd been traveling long enough for the sun to begin to rise. She was starting to feel the affects of hunger, yawning as they traveled. She wondered if he was as well, but didn't say anything yet.

Tsume shook himself as he felt his stomach growling for the third time. Okay, definitly time for breakfast.

He looked at Talia with a curious eye. "Lets see if we can find us some fat rabbits."

Slowing down he looked around himself, looking for any signs of rabbit activity around them.

"That sounds like a good idea." She drolled almost lazily, stopping to scent the air. It was easy since everything was fresh. There wasn't a scent of rabbits close, though.

She moved away from his side and silently headed off in a direction to try to scent out some sign of prey. She was becoming very accustomed to hunting with another.

As Talia took one direction Tsume took the other, covering more ground that way. Keeping his nose close to the ground he flicked his gaze left and right.

Then he caught it, a faint scent. Trailing it he found himelf in front of a rabbit hole, and he could hear his prey moving inside. He started digging imidiatly, hoping that the rabbit was big enough so him and Talia could have a decent meal.

Meanwhile, Talia had also found a scent after some searching, however, her trail led her only to a dead end. The rabbit, or rabbits, weren't in thier burrow, it seemed. She exhaled against the ground softly, scattering a bit of dirt and sprigs. Turning away, she began her search again. ~I wonder if Tsume is having better luck...?~

If Talia had only known. It seemed to Tsume that the rabbits in this area must be a hell of a lot smarter then anywhere else, or they were the only ones that had thought of an emergency exit. In any case this particular grey rabbit was the first one that had managed to escape him from inside it's burrow, and now in the open the damn thing was fast.

Running after it at full speed Tsume tried not to get confused by the zigzag path his prey was making. I hate rabbits....

He growled and snapped at the furry creature, which once again managed to slip out of his reach. Just this time it also ran under a bush and Tsume had to stop the chase, or risk getting injured.

"Stinking creature...."

Talia stopped in her tracks, she could easily make out the oncoming commotion. It seemed Tsume was having better luck indeed--

Then the sound of chase stopped.

--or not.

She chuckled mentally and made her way towards the source of the sound. When she got there she saw Tsume stopped on the other side of the bush and raised a brow, more in a teasing manner than anything. Looking to the bush she could easily smell the rabbit. It was reeking of fear and adrenaline. That thing had another thing coming, though, if it thought a bush was going to stop the two of them from getting a meal.

The lithe she-wolf lunged forward and snapped her jaws around-- whatever she could grab- a leg since it tried to flee at the sudden oncoming attack. The rabbit didn't have a chance now, though.

Talia held the wild fighting rodent and settled it down on the ground again, opting to finish it quickly. She didn't like to prolong a prey's suffering, it was unecessary.

After this she lifted her head and licked the blood away.

"Well, looks like team effort wins again." She grinned.

Tsume blinked at Talia, plain and simply stunned at her sudden appearance. And then she simply lunged and she had the dratted beast caught....

"Well, that was easy."

He stalked around the brushes and gently buffed her side, proud of his mate all the same. Her built and agility had gotten her the beast which he alone could never had caught. So it was her right to feed first while he would simply relax and keep a lookout.

She certainly felt appreciated for once. Talia smiled, settling down, understanding from her first hunt with him that he expected her to eat first if she was the one to physically make the kill even if it was a team effort. He also didn't seem the type of wolf that would do otherwise even if she insisted, which was admirable. You really didn't meet too many wolves that acted like real wolves anymore. Everyone of them had their own personality, and the only ones that seemed otherwise were usually mindless drones following some drab alpha around for scraps.

She took comfort in the protection that he offered, making a small meal from her share, but making sure to leave enough for him since he was the larger of the two. She'd never had a large appetite, and probably the most she'd ever eaten was a meal of four fish.

Her teeth breezed through, more over, his fur when she'd finished her share, licking her muzzle clean as best she could, and sitting up to keep watch this time while cleaning the blood from her paws. She was hoping that she'd get to study him a bit more as well, already quite enjoying this time alone as she'd thought.

Tsume nuzzled her before taking his share of their kill. When he was done with his meal there wasn't much left even for scavangers. Licking his muzzle he returned to Talia's side. "Do you want to take a break now or wait until a bit later in the day?"

The day wasn't at its hotest yet, but with fresh meat in their stomachs the after meal drowsiness would be coming soon.

"Let's go on for a little bit, or at least find some water." That way if they stopped to rest they could cool off for a bit in a river, pond, or small lake. Tsume had traveled South and back before, too, so she thought he might know where they could find some.

She cleaned the last of the blood from her fur and allowed her tail to show a bit of life, feeling content all over with a warm dose of lazy.

Tsume nodded. "If I remember right, there is a spring not too far from here."

He started at a slow pace in the direction he believed the spring to be, waiting for Talia to come up alongside him. "You have an affinity for water, don't you?"

That would be perfect, they could fetch a drink and a quick rest, and probably be on their way again whenever they felt so compelled to resume moving.

As she rose and padded forward this time she did laugh a bit aloud, genuinely humored.

"An affinity for it?" She looked at Tsume, amused. "I guess I do...? My family's pack was located around a lake, at the base of a small waterfall." She smiled a bit, remembering, allowing herself to open up some to converse with her mate. They hadn't talked much about their pasts yet, so now was a good chance. Her gaze returned forward as she spoke. "Most of our playtime as pups was spent there, not to mention down time as we got older. There's a river that flows from there that I followed to the freelands, as well, so it kind of reminds me of home in an indirect way."
