Mourning Fog's eyes watched as the doe collapsed in..shock? What? What was so surprising about his lineage? When her father spoke, Mourning Fog raised his head in curiousity, his brow furrowed.
...
The same..mother..
"Wha..this can't be--you mean to tell me she is my half-sister? I was..with my.." Mourning Fog's jaw dropped at the revelation. Well. He got his wish of meeting family...but this wasn't exactly what he had in mind...
His eyes dropped once more. Feelings of shame never felt so overpowering. He flirted with his own half-sister! How could that happen? He, too, collapsed to the floor, shaking his head at his actions.
"I...I must apologize...for the way I spoke to you earlier." he said, addressing his half-sister.

Streaked-Sky picked herself up, and collected herself. The chances weren't good that she'd meet a sibling she didn't know (especially from her father). This was an awkward moment, sure, but it would be interesting to meet a sibling.
She should probably let the buck compose himself, first, though.
Now that she thought about it, he was kind of boring for a brother. His coat was a dull pink. No pizazz or anything.
"It...it is quite alright, Brother."
The poor, poor buck. He supposed he should have told his daughter that she had more than two siblings, and that they'd probably be pale like her mother, but he didn't think this would ever happen.
"It's alright, little buck, nothing happened. You acted as your nature, and that is all."

Mourning Fog's legs felt weak, but he forced himself to stand. It would take him some time to get over it, but he would recover. He looked to his sister again and understood her father's overprotection. Such a lovely coat the two had, and his own former attraction to her..it was obvious that bucks would try to take advantage of her. He would have acted the same way were it his daughter. He shook his head of any embarrassed wearyness. Shook out each leg of their weakness, and stood up taller. Perhaps..if they welcomed him as family, he would help watch over her as well. Maybe not to the extent her father had, but enough to make sure that no buck would hurt her. He would let her know..that if someone was bothering her, she could come to him. He had never fought in his life, but he would for family. The only family he's seen in years..
He smiled pleasantly now, showing that he was feeling better. They accepted his apology and that reassured him. In time, all would be forgotten.

The buck - her brother - seemed to be better now. He was currently smiling and standing, so she supposed that was a good sign. She supposed he was just sad she was off the market (with a pretty coat like hers!), but there was also the whole moment of shock that probably played in as well.
Streaked Sky peeked her head around her father, and asked, "Where are you usually? You know, in case I need to find you?"
Heralded-Nightsong was sure the buck would be alright. He was his daughter's brother, so he supposed he'd have to look after him and any other siblings he might find.
He listened to his daughter's query, but also took note of the sky. He still intended to bean-hunt with his daughter (she did enjoy it so) but this was a moment of importance in her life.

"Well, I live about an hour's walk that way." he said, gesturing with his head to his right. "It's a little far, but it's this small grassy knoll above the water's edge. There's some foliage and a fallen log I think give me good cover. There's also a mangrove next to it." he added, not realizing he was rambling a little, but he wanted to give them a good description should they ever decide to visit. He grinned excitedly at the thought. And there were others out there he hadn't met yet!

He certainly gave a clear description, thought Streaked-Sky.
Thinking a little further, she thought about others. His siblings and her brother and sister.
"Erm, listen, I've got another brother and a sister who go by Wicked Mist and Spotted Birch. Do you have any other siblings?"
How interesting to think of her new family.
Moving out of the way, Nightsong moved to the edge of the clearing to lie down and wait them out.

"Well I have a twin, Weeping Mist, and a brother, Grumpy Gills, and a sister, Tender Leaf" he said, smiling. It would be easy to spot his twin, they looked exactly alike, and his other siblings were pale like his mother, but had the faint colors from his father. Smiling, he said, "Perhaps...I could meet Wicked Mist and Spotted Birch someday?" and cocked his head in curiousity. Would they, too have wonderful coats like the doe and her father?

"Hmm. You'd have to find them. I only see them hardly at all. They aren't as pretty as me though, but they do look opposite, which is strange..." she replied, finally realizing what had been bothering her about her brother and sister's coats.
Getting up and moving closer, he cleared his throat. "I do not mean to interrupt, but my daughter and I have bean hunting to do. It has been wonderful meeting you, and may we do so again."
His daughter cast an apologetic glance at her brother, and moved to follow him.
"Good bye! she called, and he would make sure she made it back here soon.

"I wouldn't want to hinder your plans" he said with a smile, "I hope you find a lot!" he added, and went to take another gulp of water. It tasted particularly sweet.
Done biggrin
