She shook her head, "No, well, not really. There are ways to keep them alive a few days longer, but unless you dry them out they will not last for longer than that." She nudged the used up feather into the water and then gingerly picked up the skull and placed it on a rock that was partially submerged in the water.
"Though if you give them very very cold water to drink, they will last longer. And if you feed them cold water every day they will last even longer. But all things die, eventually..." She wasn't sure that she was on topic any more, but she left it at that and picked the skull up once more to rinse it out in the water again, in the last stage of her cleaning process.
