Dark laughter erupted out of the shadows, echoing around each corner and bouncing about, making it hard to determine where it was coming from.
Three separate cone-shaped funnels of Seki Seki stone appeared out of thin air, smashing into the three parts of the Gran Rey, wrapping around and absorbing the reiatsu, destroying themselves in the process.
"You never did fully understand, little Asuma." The voice of the masked man spoke, still fused with a high-pitched voice, and still rumbling with the same dark power. "This is my world now. Your foolish little sounds have no sway here." He chuckled darkly. "You merely muddle the mind, but I can control the senses. These two captains and I will no longer be affected by your zanpakuto's incessant whining. I suggest shutting it up and accepting your fate like a man."
As he finished speaking, the outer edges of the field of shadows erupted with a bright red and orange light. A light, which as it came to be known, was caused by the explosion of fire and lava, which rose steadily, until the field of shadows was restricted by an area of one-hundred yards in each direction, walled off on all sides by lava hundreds of yards thick, and constantly replenishing, so that destroying the fires was not an option.
Higure limited the heat from spreading very far, but ensured that several spurts of fire erupted several yards into the clear space every few seconds, expressing his distaste.
"You arrogance has grown, along with the darkness resting in your black heart." The masked man hissed, his eyes lowering to a glare. "You forget the lessons of your youth, and the feeling of fear in your breast." He raised his zanpakuto, pointing it at the traitorous captain. "Die, Asuma. Die for your sins, and your abandonment of your oaths." With a speed so extreme, it caused an explosion along the entire path of his course, Higure appeared behind Asuma in the space of a mere fraction of a second. "Number one, Nadegiri." He whispered, holding his zanpakuto out to the side, at an angle of the completed cut.

Sins....abandonments...is that what Higure had thought of what happened. Sighing loudly, Asuma moved his naginata out, dispelling the high frequency sound coming from it's blade, not even trying to focus on what Higure was saying. Arrogance...fear. He had felt fear, he still felt it even now. Fear of what was inside of him. Fear of what had come into him that day, what had surfaced. "You don't know fear. Abandonment. I was the one abandoned that day. You'll die for your poorly picked words, Higure." His naginata turning back into his sealed sword, Asuma's reiatsu slowly rose, as a crimson lining shined around him. Mei...are you with me? A light laughter could be heard inside his head, the soft sound of a woman's laughter. Would I allow you to use me if I were not? Come, child. Heed not the words of others. Only of your own heart. Lobo? A low growl could be heard, only to Asuma, as he thought to himself.Slice him to pieces with our fangs. Smirking, Asuma raised his blade, his mask and blade seeming to shine for a split second, right before Higure attacked. Time seeming to slow, Asuma leaned backwards, Higure's blade skimming right above his face, cutting off a few strands of Asuma's bangs before Asuma quickly flew back up, seeming to be that there were two images of himself, one that had stayed and seemed to have been hit by Higure's attack, the other bend backwards, only for a second. Spinning as he came back up, Asuma slid along the air, stopping a few meters from Higure, his blade raised. "Your arrogance knows no bounds, does it. With you at the head of Seireitei it will surely follow your decent into Hell." Raising his blade even higher, Asuma took a kendo stance, holding his blade with both hands in front of him. "Bankai." The familiar wings bursting from his back again, Asuma's blade turned into a pure white color, gathering once again a large number of feathers from his wings. His mask still on, Asuma gripped his blade tightly. "And I shall be the one who shows you your path." Spreading his wings, feathers started to fly out, going in every direction, though stopping a few feet from Asuma. Within a few seconds, almost the entire area around him was covered in them, as they suddenly flew forward, stopping as they neared Higure. Taking the form of a large halo around him in a ten foot bubble, Asuma raised his blade, staring at Higure the way he could now. "Halo. Pierce." All of the feathers shooting in at once, if Higure hadn't moved quickly enough, there would soon be only small shreds of him left. Asuma waited. He knew that something was about to happen.
