Hmmm. "Well, we--um, the Guard--have sparring every Saturday, don't we? Maybe... Maybe 'accidentally' stumble in on it and ask what we're doing, or maybe next time Miriam Jacobs turns up all beat-up-looking" (Elke was fully plugged into the gossip network already) "or something, we'll think of something!"
She got up, slipped her feet into her shoes. "Breakfast sounds great. You know, the nice thing about Barren Pines was the uniforms. Those were nice uniforms."

Sparring on Saturday. Maybe, just maybe, she should join the training, Serenade mused. It would take her mind off moping over certain things and training to get back into the senshi business would be a good distraction, indeed. Plus, it would be helpful, right? She still didn't know how useless the Moon Senshi really were, but at least the city wasn't destroyed in the year they were gone.
"They were nice." She agreed. "I liked the little star buttons. Though Crystal's is a very pretty shade of blue." She supposed she would have to get used to it.

"The skirts covered my knees," said Elke, who did not like exposing her knees. She felt they were rather knobbly and unattractive, which gave her no end of agony. "These uniforms make me sad during winter. Well, we never really got to winter last time, but. You know what I mean, right, Serenade?"
She picked up her bag and grabbed Serenade's hand, smiling brightly. "Let's not worry about it til we're at the dining hall, all right?" Life couldn't just be about being a Zodiac, after all. "How's that new song you were learning, huh?"

"Well, we can wear stockings." Serenade deadpanned. It was strange how much they liked the uniform of a school that did not exist and was not supposed to exist. It probably only came to be because of them... but why? Why would Charonite have been so careless? To leave them in Barren Pines, and provide them with a chance to awaken again?
She didn't understand the intentions of their ex-school, but didn't intend to dwell on it much.
She let Elke tug her along like she used to. "It's going quite well, actually." She said. "How about your fluency tests?"

With a toss of her hair, Elke said, "I passed my test for Italian! And Spanish is in a week and a half, I'll pass that one too because I speak Spanish muy bien."
Not like it mattered; she was a Zodiac. She went where the Princess went, did what the Princess did. Probably she'd never get to live out her own dreams--being a photojournalist was hard to do when you couldn't go on assignment. Well, you could be a local photojournalist but then God, what was the point of learning all those languages? Would there be any point to learning any others if she never spoke them except in hurried moments on skype snatched from an insane schedule?
Elke didn't know anyone else who spoke Italian.
She sighed. "I hope it warms up soon, France is so warm this time of year."

"That's great!" She squeezed Elke's hand slightly with a smile. It was nice to see them all now carrying on with their lives after the nightmare was over, and even though it still haunted her somewhat. Did it still haunt them? They all remembered Barren Pines too, and the deaths... her heart squeezed at the thought of those she had knew there, who were not on the survivors list.
"Is it?" Serenade sounded mystified. "Doesn't France experience winter too?"

"Muy bueno," Elke tried with a puzzled look, but then she was smiling up at Serenade again, all brightness and cheer. "Oh, it does, it's just. Warmer. A lot warmer. Not in Paris but me and Mama would go to the coast sometimes, we'd go south, and that would be really nice."
She made no secret of having been homeschooled until being sent away to Crystal Academy for high school.
Avery, thought Elke suddenly; she'd thought she'd been dating Avery since...
No matter. She took a deep breath and pushed open the door to the stairway. "What's your first class again, Serenade?"

"That sounds nice." She murmured. She hadn't really had the chance to go to places such as those that Elke described, and now with the title of 'Princess Chronos', she didn't think it was advisable for her to ever leave Destiny City. Same went for the Zodiacs and all the other senshi, really.
It was sad that they were restricted by this secret life of theirs. But it was a responsibility, and it was their responsibility to make sure the Negaverse would not succeed. It was their responsibility to find the Princess of the Moon Kingdom.
"Math." She answered after some thought. "How about you?"

She grinned at the next question. "Spanish fiiive," declared Elke, throwing her free arm in the air. "I am in with seniors, proving my awesome language skills."
Was Serenade in any classes for piano? Elke was willing to bet that if she was, Serenade was at the top of the class in the top class. She had a very high opinion of Serenade's skills. Very. Very. High.
This was besides the point.
"What do you want for breakfast," asked Elke as they emerged on the ground floor of the building. (It took effort to think of it as the first floor. So she didn't.)

The green haired girl giggled. "You're really awesome, Elke!" The only language she had mastery over was the English language, and so Serenade thought highly of Elke for learning so many languages so well. It was certainly an admirable feat!
"I feel like having pancakes today." She confessed. "...Anything except poptarts, actually." It would be a very, very long time before anyone even got her to eat poptarts again. Just thinking about it reminded her about staying in the second gym and Serenade told herself to feel content that they had gotten out of that predicament.

Elke blushed at the praise. Not everyone could give her a compliment that made her feel a lot better--Serenade and Hero's opinions did mean much to her. And the fact that her Princess thought she was really awesome did a lot for her confidence. (Some might argue she really didn't need help with her confidence. Some people also hadn't seen the way Elke looked at more attack-oriented Zodiacs.)
"Pancakes," she said, like she was testing it out. "That sounds nice, they usually have them on this day of the week, don't they?" Yesterday had been belgian waffles. On the subject of poptarts, which had been all right until they got out, Elke said, "Blegh."
She was very eloquent.

"I think so." Serenade said. Frankly, it still took her a while to get used to being back into Crystal. It was probably because they had not attended the prestigious school for a whole year, or it was that they had momentarily been in Barren Pines. Both were contributing factors, actually.
She giggled at Elke's 'blegh', though she totally understood how the other felt. She usually wasn't picky with her food, but if someone put poptarts in front of her, she would probably grimace too. It wasn't only that they had eaten it until they got sick of it, it was also because it reminded them of what transpired back then. "At least Crystal doesn't serve poptarts." She said, as the smell of pancakes wafted out from the dining room towards them.

With a firm nod, Elke said, "We are much too fancy for that, yes we are." Crystal girls didn't eat poptarts, never mind the fact that Elke had been okay with them prior to Barren Pines. "I hope it's not sausage today. I hate sausage." (More like she didn't like the particular sausage spicyness. Hrmph.)
She pushed open the door to the dining room and tugged Serenade in after her. They could talk more about Zodiac business after breakfast, she supposed.
