Where is the notice saying that the skype add-on for firefox affects your page load time?

In the help centre.
https://www.gaiaonlinehelp.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=5694&task=knowledge&questionID=628

The Skype browser extension seems to have issues with Gaia so it is suggested to disable it.

Quote:
What could happen to my account if I don't uninstall these add-ons?

It's possible that your trades could be disabled or that your account could be banned as a result. If you believe this has happened, please report your issue to a Gaia Moderator for investigation. Please note, the Gaia Mod will have to report your issue, they will not conduct the investigation on their own. Your patience is appreciated.

Can't they just freeze the gold or the item that is rumoured or suspected of being "tainted", a mod told me that they usually do, but I have no idea why it hasn't been done in most of the cass that I know of.

We don't have that ability, to freeze only a certain amount of gold or specific items (not successfully at least). It's all or nothing really.

It'd be easier if it could be, (if it was known of course, and it isn't always) but we can only work with the tools we're given (and that work). This is Gaia, and you know how Gaia borks sometimes.

But yet, you can create new items that are locked to the account? Wouldn't it be the same type of code to lock a "suspicious" item to an account... just more localized? (No I don't know how to write programs... I just was under the impression that if you could do it on already planned to be locked items, why not items that have fallen under "Suspicion")?

Sweet n Leo
3: Guilt isn't automatically known or even assumed. If we assumed everyone was guilty, they'd be banned as if you're guilty of a violation like that it is a perma-ban offense. Instead trading is frozen until the account can be checked out.

7: There isn't. Each case is different, and there are some different groups handling the different types of cases.

The rest I can't answer as they're all who's (I'm not giving out names or indicating people as that'll mean they're just swamped with PMs) or asking for private process (I cannot tell you anything about how the system works as that'll mean it's easier for people to work around it).

I know you don't already assume guilt, that is what I was trying to point out... seeing as I was given the impression you need evidence in order to trade-ban

terradi
Let me clear things up. Gaia does NOT monitor every transaction. Gaia does NOT automatically investigate gifting or trading over a certain value. Gaia does NOT assume that any large gold transfer is botting. We assume it is legit unless we have proof that it is not. Innocent until proven guilty.

And you don't need to tell me names,... I was more curious to who's job it was... an answer like: A Select group of Mods, a select group of Omni Mods or a select group of Admins.... would have been fine; I just wanted to know where/who's belt/line of duty that would fall into... at least until the trade-ban is placed.

So basically... this holds true?

Unified_Splintered
1. Buying something on the marketplace that was sold from a scammed/hacked account. Innocent or not, first offense or not, your account will be locked until they're done straightening it out.

2. Buying/selling too much, making too much gold too fast, or like me, I transferred almost all of the stuff I had on my two other accounts, Aecy and Wraithgirl, onto this one because I created the account as my new main. In these cases, no one flagged your account, it is automated, so there is really no way of knowing if/when they'll EVER get around to it.

This is basically what anyone working for Gaia will say:
User Image Your account is involved in investigation.
We can give no timeframe.
We can give no information.
Please be patient.
That is all.
User Image

Well... I can't seem to find it now, but I remember reading on one of the many forums regarding this issue (somewhere mixed in with the thousands of normal things going on). But one of the mods or Omni Mods (not you) had said that there was only 1 Administrator handling ALL the trade-ban cases on top of their normal load of work.

But... since you said there's actually a team, I guess that is better. How bad would it be for Gaia to hire more people for this field of work? That way maybe less people will complain if all accounts are at least cleared out in 1-3 months (versus the possibility of longer to even a year or more that currently exists)?

To get trades disabled there has to be something there that needs checking out. Whether it's something good or bad, that'll be revealed when it's investigated further.

Innocent until proven guilty, which is the whole point behind trade disables. As I said, if it was guilty until proven innocent we'd ban first, ask questions later.

Well for those who know what items were involved (as it happened like right after they received those items/gold)... can they help out in the investigation at all?

The last thing I remember receiving (since it was obviously items for me); was a grass skirt, some trash (those crumbled up papers and such), a few inks, and maybe some flowers.... from a leaving Gaian as that was all she had left when I got to her. And since she was leaving she figured she had no use for the items and was giving them away... the post probably still exists somewhere.

But seeing as I was finally recently told what exactly happened ... (after sending nearly 3 tickets in at the same time; one came back with an actual answer)....

I was trying to think back over everything I remember getting last (item wise) before the trade ban... and that's the very last items I can recall. Everything after was through gifts that I got once the trade-ban was already in place; and I don't think they are involved in anything.

Hey, is there anyway you can take a peek and see if I'm right about what trade it was that caused this to me? I'm not asking you to tell me what items it was if I'm wrong... but at least a yes or no answer would be nice; I don't need anymore details outside of that.
~
Unfortunately, I trashed the skirt, trash items (the papers) and flowers; I may still have the inks though (as I got banned when trying to sell them off I think).

Here's a question I've asked, but no one really seems to have a definite answer or time to answer (which is completely understandable! It's a busy time of year and I myself have trouble getting online).

My thing is, I have Gaia Cash on my account. I can't trade, buy in the MP, or gift things to people "normally", but I know you can gift through the cash shop. Is this disabled as well? Or am I good to send Christmas Gifts to friends when it gets nearer to Christmas? Since you can't really get cash "illegally" I can't see why this would be disabled but I want to make sure. I don't want to Cash Shop gift a friend and then have them have their trading passes disabled because I sent them something through the Cash Shop.

Help is much appreciated.

That's a really good question, but it's not one I know the answer to. Cash can't be traded, so it's not actually caught up in the whole freezing thing, since the only cash you get has to be bought by you. So it's not like someone can send you dodgy cash, and if you'd gained cash illegally you wouldn't be frozen, you'd be banned (as they treat it really seriously (as it usually involves fraud), and it's the billing admins who handle that stuff).

You should be good to send cash gifts, however I don't have the right to say so for definite. Yours would be a query I'd ask in a ticket to Gaia to get an absolute answer.

@Mewsie - Not really something I can answer sorry, since I don't work on cases.

Why is it even after my hacking, items granted back but no reply whatsoever about my trading pass. I waited over a month to see it still not back. When i asked a few mods what was happening i didn't get a reply. Explanation?

May have been forgotten about. You can shoot me a PM and I'll poke someone to see.

Yes but I have had my TP disabled since Nov. 2, and that same day I PM'd a mod looking for answers, all i got was that it I was involved in a "pending investigation". Since then Ive only sent a PM to two other mods (including Sweet n Leo), not demanding my pass back... only looking for information regarding this. But the one has been lost out of my outbox for weeks now.

So i dont know if my account is even being looked at. OR what i even did wrong.
PostPosted: Tue Dec 15, 2009 5:41 pm

A moderator can really only give you the "under investigation, no timeframe" message. If someone has told you it's under investigation, it means it is being looked at. PMing multiple people wont change that.

Thanks so much for your answer!

I think I really lucked out, my trading pass was down for less than a week, but I will be sending a ticket just for others who are wondering about this.

~*does it hinder investigations if gold count
differs from when the ban initially happened?
(after a ban occurs, are people still allowed
to play Booty Grab, purchase gaia cash, mc's, etc via paypal?) *~
PostPosted: Wed Dec 16, 2009 3:02 am

Sorry, I really can't answer that as I've no involvement with investigations actually running.

I would assume it shouldn't have a great impact, but that's a guess based on no knowledge sorry (so don't take it as anything official since I can't make official statements about this stuff, only try to answer general queries)

Would it make any difference if items were gifted into my account? Not by any anonymous users of course. A few friends sent in gifts, and I thought it would hinder the investigation... if my accounts even being looked at now.

Or (outrageous idea here) what if i sent proof that i spent ALL my pure and trashed EVERYTHING in my inventory? That way theres no account to investigate, no bot gold to trace, or "dirty" items to re call. (hypothetical situation, just wondering)
Since everyone else is coming up with their own solutions here, such as "soulbinding inventory" or having items replaced with "clean" duplicates.
