Hm...there was no noise. Wasn't there a noise when he transformed into a peacock in the first place? The doppleganger was tempted to look only to see if he was having trouble - a transformation dysfunction or something - but stopped when she heard a ruffle of clothes. Huh...maybe it was just a surprised noise he had made earlier.

Thae was leaning against the wall when he returned, now dressed. He gave her his name and her head tilted. "Yes, that sounds about right." It seemed to fit, like she knew that was his name but it was just on the tip of her tongue, ever evading her. "My name is Anethae...Everyone generally just calls me 'Thae'." Her head bowed a bit, fidgeting and playing with one of her thumbnails. Mymy, he certainly was pretty, wasn't he?

"Did you want to hear what happened to her?" She offered, tilting her head to observe the man through eyes unnervingly identical to Neveah's. "I could show you, or even just tell you." The point was, if he wanted to know, the offer was there - in his shoes, she would want to know. But that was her, and Gaians had a tendancy to surprise her.

"Pleased to meet you, Anethae," he used her full name first before he would call her anything like a nickname right now, he was still trying to wrap his mind about what happened to Neveah and it was a little difficult, admittedly. He watched her fidget with her thumbnail for a moment and then blinked at her offer when she suddenly seemed to look at him once more. Onuris fidgeted a bit on his feet and seemed to have a moment of inner struggle.

On one hand it would bring a peace of mind and a bit of closure but on the other hand what would it do to know how she died? His own tendencies and feelings that he probably should have been there to save her, even if he couldn't do a damn thing, would possibly overwhelm him. He bit down on his lower lip and flicked his golden eyes to the side for a moment.

Onuris didn't know how to answer that question, would it alter his vision of Neveah somehow? That was what he was most afraid of, truth be told but still...

"Yes, please tell me," he said finally, probably much against his better judgment. It isn't like he could do anything about it now, he reasoned, what was done is now done.

"And you, Onuris." Thae said curtly, sparing him a glance. Once her question was posed she watched him carefully, observing his inner struggle over the whole 'to know or not to know' senario he had going on there. Eventually he settled on a choice, and once more her head bowed.

"Okay then..." Closing her eyes, Thae let out a long, low sigh. "She was taking her boy - the Drow one - to the shop he came from, to let him mingle with friends." She started off simple; just an outing between Mother and son. Thae didn't know if Onuris was aware her wings had been torn off, so she politely left that point out. "But something went wrong and the shop, including all of it's inhabitants, were plummeted into The Between; a space between this world and the spirit world, my home." There was a twinge of homesick to her voice; while the Between was hard to live in, it was still her 'home'.

"The building filled with evil Shadow spirits." She said with a disgusted tone to her voice. "And, eventually, he showed up. Jorianth..." Her digust didn't leave, and now she sounded mildly angry. "He tried to sweet talk the Gaians and the Ghostlings into joining him, but they refused and a few of them fought back enough to injure him; he got angry and grabbed onto the closest person he could..." Her gaze flickered to him pointedly, letting him draw the conclusion as to who 'the closest person' was.

"He hurt her badly, and had every intent to feed on her soul to heal himself." Naturally, she omitted HOW he hurt her, and probably wouldn't divulge the information unless asked. "But Sicily got there first - she took the soul and drew it into her pendant so Jorianth could not have her...that was when she truly died." Her head bowed again as if in homage to the dead. When it lifted again, she looked at him once more. "They agreed the battle should be taken elsewhere, and Sicily used the soul as bait to lure him away from the other people in the shop."

"I was racing towards them by then, being spurred on by a fellow Light Spirit; I didn't know what I had to do, I was just told that Sicily needed me, and that I had to hurry." She still had to keep her promise - if she were to ever meet that spirit again, she was going to smack it for harassing her. "I broke through the barrier Jorianth and his crew hoisted just as Sicily broke open the pendant and threw into the air, releasing the soul inside. I moved towards it on instinct, and my gem--" She waived to the lightly glowing blue jewel on her forehead. "--took it, absorbed it. In that moment there wasn't any way to bring her back...she was gone forever, but I came to life." Of course, she omitted the ill feelings and pain that associated with the change between spirit and body, how horrible it was to have to form bone, muscle, organ and skin from nothing. He didn't need to know, after all.

"Her body never made it back to Gaia, I am very sorry."

He listened to her quietly; he even leaned against the nearby wall and set his jaw a bit as he listened to her speak, and he gradually became more and more pale as she talked on. No he could definitely have done nothing for Neveah and that fact hurt him deeply more deeply than the death itself. Onuris rubbed a hand at his chest quietly as if to get rid of an itch or a discomfort but in truth it was his heart tightening a tad as if railing against the idea of his apparent inability to be able to do anything but he had to admit that it was true and it was a hard, bitter pill to swallow.

"I..It's alright," he said slowly trying to contain himself and hold back some sort of dam of tears but at least he didn't turn back into a peacock. This hurt more than he imagined it would, he quietly slid down to the floor against where he stood at the wall and began to rub his face. No he wouldn't cry in front of Thae. He barely knew her he couldn't cry in front of her. In spite of trying to hold back the tears came just the same dripping against the palms of his hands which were pressed against his face.

The dam broke and his shoulders began to shake. He felt pathetic and weak crying in front of the woman before him but he couldn't help it. The news hit him really hard just know. Her death was perhaps the second hardest death he's had to deal with. The first one was that of a woman that was pretty much his mother as he grew since his biological mother was busy being a Lady of the Household amongst other things. Yes he missed Dahlia deeply and now Neveah.

With her story finished, Thae just lapsed into silence, watching Onuris on his journey through the stages of loss. He slid to the ground and Thae pushed herself off of the wall with her shoulder, unsure if she should or even if she could approach him. It must have been heartbreaking for him, she couldn't imagine the sadness he felt, that Zasalamel felt, that all of her friends felt. It was foreign to her, but she had the urge to reach out, to hold him and tell him everything was alright. But she was hesitating the longer he held out.

Onuris started to outright cry, and Anethae bid farewell to her hesitations.

The red haired woman closed the gap between them, kneeling on the ground between his knees, one arm sliding around to his back and the other sliding through his red hair to hold the back of his head. It was almost instinct to do this, to hug him against her and to let him cry it out. Of course she would back away if he didn't want it, but she would most certainly try to comfort him. She swayed lightly, rubbing his back and occasionally petting his hair, if he let her.

"She didn't hurt for long." Thae tried to assure him, hoping it would help in some little way. "And she isn't hurting anymore." Unless you counted the pain knowing that the person you 'liked' was in tears over you, anyway.

He didn't push her away he did however resist, briefly, against leaning against her until he finally allowed himself to do so even if to take in the garden-like scent she still exhibited even if it had the strange unfamiliar scent of strawberries lingering over it, but it was still the scent he was familiar with it even if slightly. Onuris wept openly no longer holding it back as he decided that holding back at this point was very pointless and he let her talk.

It was a comfort, sort of, a little. He'd have preferred that she hadn't hurt at all. That she was still alive, but there was nothing he could do and Neveah would never want him to 'join' her in death, Onuris shunned the thought in fact. It was silly and proved nothing plus he had people that counted on him.

After a few moments he struggled to find a certain amount of control over his grief and tears, his hands had fallen to his lap when Thae had come to hold him during the worst of his mourning. Still he felt odd crying in front of a complete stranger like this but that didn't stop him from appreciating the fact that she had reached out to comfort him when he obviously needed it, "T..Thank you, Thae...I ..am probably making this very hard on you..."

After her initial attempt at reassuring the man she stayed quiet, letting him cry the rest of it out, just holding him and rubbing his back with her chin resting on top of his head. When he finally spoke she looked down at him a little bit, more of a glance than anything. "You're not." She said quietly. It was true, this didn't change the situation, it didn't make it hard for her (for the most part anyway; her soul was aching). "I am grateful to her, and it is heartwarming to know you cared enough to cry over her." She pet his hair once more, starting to lean away from him now that he seemed to be calming down. Blue eyes drifted from his red hair to his forehead, where a rather overwhelming and foreign urge came over her.

For a moment or two she tried to fight it, her face mildly scrunching in the urge to not do it - she assumed it wasn't 'proper', which was really the only reason she was trying not to. But, in the end, she couldn't help it. Sighing, she leaned forward and pressed her lips against the man's forehead, petting his hair once more before leaning fully away from him again, giving him his space.

"Do you feel better?"

He still felt weird crying with a stranger over someone that could have potentially meant so much to him. So much more than a friend and possibly even someone he might have, at one point, consider spending his life with in total. Onuris said none of this and let her comfort her and nodded quietly at her words as he gave a small involuntary sob which got caught momentarily in his throat when she kissed him upon the forehead before she pulled away from him.

It was lucky that Onuris didn't read into things. In fact he refused to allow himself to read into that small token of comfort she bestowed on him and merely murmured a small, "Thanks." What else could he say? If he felt more suave he could have suggested that she had missed her true target but alas, the will was not in him and understandably so.

Onuris lifted up his hands and wiped at the damp tracks of tears on his face and tried to regain composure. He'll have to learn how to keep himself together at least until he was in private again where he'd let himself cry a little more and with a lot less restraint, "Y..yeah I'm good," he murmured with a shuddering sigh.

Thae more than likely wouldn't have understood his innuendo. While she was aware that all creatures could breed, she wasn't too familiar with the way a humanoid did it, or even the innudendo surrounding it. It was probably for the best that he didn't say it, regardless.

"You're welcome." She nodded, slipping back to sit on the other side of the alley from him, her back against the wall. "It is the least I could do." The doppleganger said, because it sounded about right. Slanted blue eyes observed the area around her as though at a loss for what to do next but convinced it would just fall out of the sky and hit her with it's brilliance. Sadly, nothing amazing came. "There is a marker for her though, in the Durem cemetery...if you wanted to pay your respects." It seemed like another right thing to offer; Zasalamel sometimes put flowers on her grave, even if there was no body there, it was the thought that counted.

"Did you wish for me to leave you alone with your thoughts, or would you like to get something to eat?" Food cured....most things?

He stared down at the back of his hands for a long moment or two, he nodded a bit numb at Thae's words, a ghost of a smile appearing on his lips though it didn't seem to touch his eyes which still seemed a bit overwhelmed with grief and sadness. The loss was something that he hadn't expected would touch him so deeply but it had. Didn't answer her comment about the marker just yet he didn't seem ready to think that far ahead at the moment and simply soaked in the silence while.

Onuris found the idea of working through this alone was not what he wanted to do but he wasn't hungry and yet he was. Maybe he could chew on something, comfort food. "We can go eat," he said the word 'we' almost purposefully as if to let her know that he held no grudge against her for what had happened and he had at least come to accept the situation thus far. It wasn't like he had a choice in the matter, not really.

It wasn't Thae's fault as far as he was concerned. She didn't ask for this.

"A...after you can show me the marker," he said finally as he moved to stand and wiped at his eyes hastily as if to physically push back the tears that threatened to come out once more. That was enough crying for the day.

Thae's gaze lowered then closed, getting to her feet and putting the medicine into a pocket. Poor Onuris, this was quite a bit to handle. The only part she ever regretted about getting this life, was having to see the pain of those Neveah left behind. Her eyes reopened and she watched him stand, the same ghost of a smile on her lips as well.

"Of course." She would show him the marker and she could hopefully ease some of that pain of his. "Anything in particular you'd like to eat?" Thae looked around, wandering out of the alley they were in and pondering what kind of food to eat. "I've been eating a lot of...'ham burgers' lately, they taste so wonderful!" The doppleganger seemed excited when she talked about the common fast food, grinning and tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.

"But if there is something else you would like to eat, please say something!"

Onuris nodded, "Thanks, I appreciate it," he said sincerely as he moved to walk with her out of the alley while his hands moved to brush any debris off of his backside with a small thoughtful sound exiting his lips. He didn't really eat a lot of fast food it weighed him down and made him feel sluggish if he ate too much of it. He gave her a more genuine smile and nodded a bit, "Those are pretty good every once in a while, Anethae," he said lightly not quite ready to be informal just yet but at least he was being more relaxed with her.

"There is a place around here that makes very 'Italian' food. I don't know what an Italian is but they make good food," he said simply showing his lack of knowledge of other worlds and other places outside of where he came from and outside of Gaia. Where Onuris came from they had foods that were pretty similar but the flavor seemed different in this world for reasons he couldn't quite pinpoint.

That sounded really good and comforting actually. Plus he was sure the restaurant would make a hamburger for Anethae if she really craved one.

"Only once in a while?" Thae repeated thoughtfully, tilting her head. "Are they trying to conserve, or is it bad for you?" Something that tasted SO good couldn't possibly be bad! She never felt sluggish when she ate it, but she felt sluggish a lot. Being alive was awkward for her still. Onuris suggested a place with food from Italian. She scratched her cheek and tilted her head.

"Hmm...Maybe Italian is a name and they invented that food?" Thae guessed, picking at a piece of thread on her clothing. "Lead the way, Onuris! I would like to try this...'Italian' food."

"Well sometimes eating one thing too much can make you feel sick it is better if you broaden your diet, Anethae. It is healthier that way, but yes too many burgers can be a risk to your health but it doesn't mean you have to completely cut them out," he said simply. Onuris was no nutritionist but he had managed to figure out the ins and outs of a proper diet for the most part just by being in Gaia for long enough. He walked along with her as he folded his hands behind his back. At her suggestion he seemed thoughtful.

"Mmm, makes sense," he agreed with a small smile. His heart felt heavy still but at least Onuris felt much better than he did a few moments ago as he walked along. He paused at an intersection and quietly led Thae in the direction of the restaurant he had mentioned. It didn't take them long before they were in, seated, and gazing at menus.

Thae stared intently at Onuris as he passed this apparently very important bit of information. Huh, so she needed to eat a whole bunch of different things? Oh, well, okay then! Nodding like she understood, the doppleganger gave a little salute. "Okay! I'll broaden my diet!" But still keep Burgers in there, because they were just too damned good to not to.

She trailed like a duckling after him, sitting across from him at their table and eyeing the menu. Luckily, reading was one thing she never had a problem with in the slightest. "Mmm...A lot of this sounds good." Not that she knew what half of it was, but still. "I want to try this Chicken...or that Salmon." Thae hummed, reading over the descriptions. "Well maybe not the chicken...'cause a chicken is kind of a bird and you're kind of a bird and I guess that's rude."
