Alex popped his food in the microwave to heat it up a bit, and as he turned around, he caught her looking at everything.
She was beautiful, especially when she didn't know she was being looked at. Her sideways glance at everything, the way she was leaning on the counter, the way her hair fell across her face. It all struck him for a moment before he brought himself back to the real world, where she really was.

"Well, I dunno. Sometimes being alone can be nice. Don't you ever get sick of those friends of yours?"
He walked over to the counter opposite her and leaned on his folded arms. This close, he could see her eyes better and could tell if she was lying.
"Ever get sick of all that excitement you cook up for yourself?"

She laughed a little shrugging. "Its not really all that exciting for me..." She swayed a little side to side, looking everywhere but his eyes for a moment before she finally met them. They were soft yet dark casual yet annoyed at herself.

"Its..not really me..." She furrowed her brow. "At times like these...I Dont even know why I do it...." She smiled softly, solemnly at him. "Though I can tell you I've never felt more myself than I do around you...." She meant that. "Whoever I am that is..." She smiled more genuinely, tilting her head down to look up at him with those big eyes.

When she was done talking, he kissed her.
It was soft and undemanding, more for comfort than to distract her from her problems.
"Well, from what I've seen, you're thoughtful, observant, smart... got some family problems that I think you need to sort out, and some conflicts in yourself that you need to take care of, but don't we all?"
That wasn't to dismiss them or demean them in any way, but he wasn't one to talk as if he was living comfortably. Alex had his share of strife, too, but she would hear about that only if she asked directly.

Alex grinned just as the bell for the microwave went off, giving him his cue to stand upright and turn his back on her for his beloved food.
"I'm glad I make you feel that way, though... if I could say something about you again, I'd say you make me feel relaxed and on edge at the same time."

That made her smile a tiny bit. The kiss left a blush on her face as well, adding to the cute effect as her eyes studied the counter. "I'm not sure if thats a good thing or not...." She smirked though shrugged. "I'll assume it is though..." She looked up at him as he prepared his food, testing to make sure the sandwich was hot enough. Even such a small thing he was so... grand.
jess studied every little move he made, never having that fascination with another human being before. Sure she had been in the company of attractive men, though none seemed to just captivate her as a whole.

"Oh, it is." He turned around with his food in his hand and came back over to the counter. Her reaction gave him a bit of confidence to pursue this conversation a bit further, if only to get inside her head a bit.
"So, you must enjoy some of it, though. Otherwise you wouldn't keep going back to it. So what is it? What's got you hooked in these clubs besides the men fawning over you?"

Alex took a bite of his sandwich and waited for her response. There had to be something, he thought. But what? The negative seemed to outweigh the bad, unless there was something he was missing in this whole picture that she could enlighten him with.

She sighed but seemed to think, the faint smile still on her lips.

"I suppose thinking about it in my state now... I love the dancing..." She admitted slightly embarassed.

"Just getting lost in the throbbing pounding bass and letting the rhythmic beat lull you into an almost trance like state....that mixed with alcohol creates a sometimes welcome numb..." She let her words trail off, realizing how terrible that sounded.

"Though I do love dancing in general. I used to sneak over to the public highschool my sister went to. I'd hide behind the old bleachers and watch everyone dance. It was nothing special but it was nice you know? That special bond they each held with their partner... I guess the dancing I do is a way I connect with myself...block out everything else for the time being..." She shrugged, not sure where she was going with it...

Listening to her let him connect some dots. She wasn't at peace with herself, but in a high-energy environment, and with some help from the old bubble water, she could feel like she understood her environment, maybe even herself.
So what was she doing to help it all become better when she wasn't at the clubs? Be with him?

As she spoke of music and dancing, Alex got up and went over to his entertainment center. It wasn't impressive, and the speakers were old, but soon enough a song was starting to play out. It wasn't one of his favorites, but it was slow and would do the job.

All he had to do was hold out his hand to her.
"Sounds like you have your party dancing covered. What about slow dances? They have those at the clubs?"

Jess blushed a little, eyes wide and blinking as she looked down at his hand. She smiled shyly, biting her lips jsut a little before meeting his eyes again and taking the out stretched hand.

"L-like I've said...I only know what I've watched...I'm not very good..." She admitted softly, letting him bring her close, his smell bringing her blush back again.

Though a bit stiff and awkward at first, she seemed to get the hang of it, letting him lead as she sank into his form, even closing her eyes for a moment.

Alex turned them around in a slow circle that travelled around the room. There was nothing fancy about the way they danced, but he hoped it made some kind of impression on her in her world of bright strobe lights and booming bass.
A few minutes later, the song faded out, and they were left standing right where they began.
"...you've gotta find another way to connect with yourself. Or at least go dancing in a way that doesn't get you into trouble."
Alex wrapped his arms around her and held her close, leaning his cheek on the top of her head. "What did you feel now?"

She was silent when they stopped dancing. Though she hadn't registered that they had stopped completely until he spoke. She kept her eyes shut, though mostly to keep the tears from coming out.

"Y-you...." was her soft, sure answer as she held him a little tighter. It was... a calm. As if she were dreaming sweetly instead of harshly blackening out. It was sweet... it was soft.... It was wonderful.

Not sure how to express that in words, she tilted her head up, her misty eyes searching his before closing slightly and her lips meeting his in a lovely gentle embrace which she attempted to somehow transfer all those emotions into him, knowing it was probably silly, though seemed logical at the time.

He could sense her feelings somehow through that kiss. It was all there, and he hoped his were there as he returned it. What was also coming to the surface were his real thoughts on how much she meant to him... she wasn't just a fascination, but a real person who he wanted to make happy. But maybe this wasn't a good time... he wasn't ready to say that just yet.

"Jess," he whispered. "You alright? You sound like you need to cry or something..." And it would be alright if she did, he thought. The very first night they talked, she had thrown a shoe at him and cried. It was nothing new.

Jess took a deep breath and swallowed,s haking her head as she rested it on his chest. "No..." she sighed. "No I'm fine..." She said softly, turning herhead a bt and leaning up to kiss his neck softly.

"Thank you..." She didnt specify what, but she meant it all the same. She said nothing more however, just holding him nad needing to be held for a moment as silence sat in.

If she was going to hold in her emotions still, then so would he. It seemed they still weren't there yet.

"Hey... maybe you need a cinnamon bun, then." But he just kept giving her sweet kisses instead. The reason for her coming over was becoming clearer: she was lonely. She needed this more than anything, and he wasn't about to turn her away.
"Or to talk... Come on, Jess."
PostPosted: Thu Dec 10, 2009 8:21 pm

She pulled away, smiling lovingly at him. "I'm fine...really..." her eyes were soft as she let her hand fall to his. "though a cinnamon bun sounds delicious..." She gently pulled on him over to the counter, tralizing she was shutting him down again. She hated that...

maybe there was something she could tell him about or reveal a bit more...

She pulled out one of the buns and took a bite, offering him one of the stickey creations for himself.

Constantly avoidance, he thought. Was her past really so heinous that she couldn't talk about it? His wasn't a skip through the park, either, but at least he could find it within him to speak about it.

Regardless of his frustrations, he took the cinnamon bun in his mouth and ate ravenously.
"I rarely eat sweets," he said, poking at his ribs. "I'm surrounded by them all the time, but I never have any for myself. Thought I'd ruin them all for me if I did on breaks... that and I'd get fat. And then there's you with your little soy lattes," he said, taking a dainty little stance as he said her common drink.
