"Don't forget," Donovan replied, "The twins are staying in our room so we don't have to run across the hall every single time."

And he was sure installing two or three good doors wouldn't take long, it would just require to make sure whoever was doing the carving and installing would have a contract that said if they didn't get it done within a certain amount of time they were going to get paid less.

Much less.

"Besides, I'm sure you'll be kept busy with the design plotting with Trisha," he offered, "And clothes planning with Helen...."

He wrapped his arm around her her shoulder and began to steer her away from the room.

"And you've been standing for a long while already, you should be sitting."

That was the only thing he was going to be firm on, how much rest she got.

Kara pouted at that, she didn't like having to be reminded to sit all the time, in fact there were times she felt like she sat too much.

"I don't need to rest Donovan," she murmured softly, though it border along a whine, "You always say I need rest these days."

Even though she knew she was napping a great deal, but she didn't like to do nothing for such a long period of time. At this point, Kara was becoming restless.

"Because you do," Donvoan tried to be reasonable, "I'm surprised your ankles aren't sore from carrying the twins around."

He was very careful in how he worded things these days, there was no way in hell he was going to say weight.

"You can plan sitting down, with Trisha on what you want on the doors and on the walls," Donovan reasoned, "While having lunch."

"Lunch?"

Kara perked up at that, it made her think of sandwiches which made her think of smoked salmon and cream cheese with a bit of dill mixed in. It made her think that a bit of red onion and lettuce would work nicely with that.

It made her think she was hungry.

"Could I have a smoked salmon sandwich?" she asked quietly.

"I'll even toast the bread and mix the dill into the cream cheese," Donovan replied smirking a bit.

Even though Kara's habits had changed somewhat since her pregnancy and at times she could be quite unpredictable. There were times where Donovan could still call it, and this was one of those times. Since Kara had become pregnancy she often thought with her stomach which was a good way to get her distracted.

"And perhaps prepare some tea and invite Trisha over," Donovan offered.

Let Trisha deal with her mother for a while.

Kara nearly squealed and latched onto Donovan's arm. He always knew how to make things all better, but then again Donovan seemed to have this gift in reading people. A gift unfortunately he often used to bother the tar out of the other person, but in this case it all worked in her favour.

"And scones?" she asked, "Could we have scones as well?"

Maybe Donovan would join her for tea as well, she always liked it when Donovan joined her. Though he had a secret sweet tooth about scones, he liked them with a chocolate nut spread, which she was sure they still had.

"Crap," Donovan thougth silently to himself.

If she wanted scones she would want clotted cream with that, and where was he going to find something like that. Hell, where was he going to find scones? Sure, someone could bake it, but that would take a long while. There was that tea shop in the city, maybe he could bribe someone to deliver scones with the proper additions to the house.

"Sure," he replied patted her arm with his free hand, "We can get scones as well."

It was just going to take a bit of tinkering to get them. He thanked whatever deities and ancestors that were out there that she had children who could cook. In fact he was thankful Triton could cook and bake and why in the hell was that boy not married yet?

Questions about personal love lives aside, about an half an hour later he had what he had promised Kara. A smoked salmon sandwich the way she liked it with tea, scones, and of course Trisha invited to lunch so they could talk about the rooms.

Which was how Trisha, the second daughter and third child of Kara and Donovan found herself sitting at the kitchen table with her mother and her father (though it was sometimes weird thinking of Donovan as a father). Trisha was the first Second adopted by Kara, having mistaken her vase for a normal one. Not that Trisha minded, she loved her family and being now a full grown adult with a budding designer career made her happy.

Though she thought as she stared at the sandwich before her, somethings it seemed always the weird things happened to her family. Who knew her mother was prone to nesting habits.

"So you want me to help design and paint the room?" Trisha inquired softly.

Kara nodded munch happily on her sandwich, her mouth was full so she couldn't talk all that well, but she was depending on Donovan to fill out in other bits.

Donovan was sitting calmly in his chair spreading his favourite spread on a scone. He acted as if he hadn't spent the last several hours trying to keep his wife from turning their home upside down rearranging everything.

"Exactly, once that is out of the way we can start buying furniture or comissioning them," he replied, "Kara wants a sky theme, which is pretty gender netural as one could get."

He normally wasn't around for these tea sessions, it had taken nearly a year for all of Kara's older children to get comfortable in calling him father.

Trisha stared for a moment and decided that her father wanted her to keep her mother busy. Before she decided to do something that would put stress on her.

"Yes, as long as we keep it neutral...."

"Could we have little winged sheep on the night one?" Kara inquired softly.

She was nibbling on what looked to be on a scone now, it seemed like she had inhaled the sandwich.

"Uhm.... that might be a bit cutesy... do you realize this will all get probably painted over when they get older, and if you carve the doors this could be problematic," Trisha pointed out.

"We'll plaster over the door or something...." Donovan paused, "Or just moved them to a completely different room."

Actually the latter sounded good to him because he wasn't sure if he wanted two teenagers living across from them. While Donovan loved (more or less) all of his children, he would rather them live down the hall once they hit the hormonal age.

Kara mused thoughtfully, "But what will we do with the rooms if they move out of it?"

She wasn't so sure about that, and looked a bit worried about this.

Trisha sighed a bit, she couldn't believe they wanted to go through this much trouble, but then again they hadn't add any more children until now since they moved to the clan grounds.

"I would suggest you move them," Trisha told them, "I love you both, but I won't paint something that will be painted over. I'll paint the doors, the rooms and the furniture if you would leave it. Turn it into a dual play room. I'm sure you two will still have plenty of young grandchildren or great-grandchildren by the time the twins are teens."

If nothing else she was sure that there would still be children around more or less.

"See?" Donovan smirked once more, "It's perfect, I'm sure as teenagers they wouldn't want to be close to use old folks so they can move to another room, which we don't lack and we have playrooms."

Or a new room for whatever new child, who knew? For all they knew they could have more children.

"So what do you think?" Donovan posed the question to Kara, "You get the perfect children's room, which we can keep. When can you start?"

Between the food and the wonderful talk, Kara was nodding at this. She was feeling so much better of course.

"And I can help right?" Kara looked between her daughter and her husband.

Trisha hide a smile, she knew that her father had planned to keep her mother busy. Even it meant that she had to help a bit, "Of course...."

Picking up her tea cup she hoped she knew what she was getting herself into. Trisha had heard about her mother rearranging the bed room.

"And I'll start right away, you have only three months, even if we have that time. Well of course they won't be living in there right away, but you don't want construction while the babies are here."

So the doors were her first thought.

"Good," Donovan nodded, "Now that we have that out of the way... Kara will you now rest?"

He glanced over at his wife hoping that she would now be a bit more reasonable now that all of the hard stuff was out of the way. Wtih Trisha to keep her rein in, he could go about helping her in other ways. Such as helping with the damn school before all hell broke loose.
