Cody laughed, amused by both boys. "Aww, don't worry, squirt - Angel'll grow soon enough. She's a little slower than you, sometimes the girls are."
"Bite me." Poking her head in the door, a tall girl with pale skin and jet-black hair looked coolly at Cody, eyes like brilliant blue sapphires the only color on her. She raised an eyebrow at Ani, face only slightly softer. "Angel used some of the Morrowsyn energy to separate you two, so you wouldn't hurt each other. You can all do it. Just takes some practice."
----------------------------------------------
Rune sighed - truth be told, she'd expected something like this. Morgan had had the same reaction when it came to Ramene. "It's not that bad, Yamazaki." Her voice was slightly softer. "Who do you think gives the kids to us in the first place? If all they wanted was the kids to be soldiers, they'd have just left them at the Academy without families or homes. But the world out there - it can be very, very dangerous for them. And they can be dangerous for the world, if they don't know how to use their power properly and get angry or frightened. You wouldn't want Steve to maim or kill some innocent person because he didn't understand what was happening, would you?"
(The girl is Ramene - one of the first Tenjustu, and the only older one that doesn't belong to Rune. She's Morgan's only child. *pets Ramene* She's such a serious, sarcastic little bugger.)

Yamazaki was growling, though more to himself than at Rune. He hated the situation, that much was clear. Sending Steve off to some Academy. Getting involved in some war that the kid probably knew nothing about, and that he knew nothing about. Other than whatever tale about it that the Academy would teach him. Reminded him about the elves, their 'holy quest' to cleanse the world of evil. Meaning everything non-elf, that is. It all smelled bad. He didn't like it, and he was sure that Rune didn't like it either. "Well damn if I don't have a lot to do now..." he moaned to himself, "you know, I like the kid. Really do, otherwise I wouldn't care this much. I gotta go make an impression on him, make sure he knows about the lions, when he walks into the den, if you catch my drift." "I was really hoping I wouldn't have to do anything like that," the magesmith shook his head slowly, and looked up at Rune, "Now I know you don't like this. What's your story with it?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Doggy, bite her! She want it!" Steve cheered on Ani, waving his stick around in the air. He laughed to himself, before toppling to the ground, the four feet of walking stick, was just too much for his small frame to hand. But listening, just a little, to the strange girl's words, he looked over at Angel. He did know she did it, after all. He 'saw' it. Sorta. He frowned, staring at her again, wondering if he would pick up another flash of strange colors and lights, like he did before. "You do stuff too?" he suddenly asked Cody. He clapped his hands together quickly, "Come on, I wanna see Tomarrow Sins (the Morrowsyn) again!"

((Sorry Ive not been here, first time Ive been able to post since Gaia reorginized! ))
Ani a soldier? Wolfey wasn't even sure if Ani was much of a fighter. Ani to him seemed to be of the more non-violent quiet type but of course Ani was still just a baby. "Rune what happens to the children who don't have the aptitude to learn the skills needed? I mean when they grow up the Academy wouldn't send them off to fight, would they?"
--------------------------------------------
Marrows in? He didn't know what that was but they said he could do it too! Ani giggles at Steve then looks at the girl and tries to look mean and show his teeth. Ani was begining to like the strange boy/

(*laughs* tis okay, Wolfey - Rune's time on the comp is now sporadic at best, as tis nearer the holidays and parentals are in high gear. *grumbles, then smirks* And actually, Rune's wrong on one point - there is still a couple Fey alive, but nobody knows they are Fey.)
Rune's smile was wry. "Oh, I like the Academy just fine - some of the teachers may be a bit stuffy - or in some cases, downright wacky - but at heart, they care about the kids, and they like teaching. It's more of a - well, a preventative measure, I guess. In case something happens, they can defend themselves. The actual massacre happened - " she paused, counting on her fingers and apparently translating time in her head. "More than a thousand years ago. Before the Fey disappeared, anyway, and that's been so long none of the vampires or the Hydrans have ever seen one."
With a sigh, she flicked a hand at the map, dispelling the floating image. "It's more that I hate that they NEED a place like the Academy, honestly. Tenjutsu today are still fairly hated or rejected in dozens of dimensions." Her smile flickered genuinely for a second. "Mine were lucky - when we traveled to the different universes, they always had someone of high enough rank to shelter them from most of the idiots, whether it was me or one of their aunts. But not every place is like that."
Finally getting to Wolfey's question, she laughed. "The Academy doesn't send ANYONE to fight. It's for kids to learn to defend themselves and control their abilities. The Guild - well, it does send people to fight on occasion, but it's an option. You choose the quests you want to take."
------------------------------
"That is not what the lady Ramane Uzumaki Shadow meant, small boy!" The purple-haired girl chirped in her slightly squeaky voice, hands planted on hips. Cody chortled, Rin giggling as Ramene sighed and thunked the speaker on her head. "Quiet, Motoko."
Perching elegantly on the arm of a thick-stuffed chair, the dark-haired girl smiled just slightly. "It's called Mar-oh-sin." She pronounced carefully for the children, holding up a hand. Silver energy swirled into an orb in her palm. "This is the energy by itself, in pure form. What you do with it depends on you."
Rin nodded and nudged Cody in the side with her foot. "Bring out the babies, that's something." She prodded her brother. The golden-haired Tenjutsu sighed dramatically, then grinned. "Alright. Daimon, Horo, hold still. Ceres, Angel, Yvette, get ready."
From the squeals of glee that greeted this announcement, it was clear the babies had done this before. Rubbing his hands together, Cody closed his eyes as crackles of energy flickered up his arms and around his fingers. With an almost inaudible 'pop,' the five infants vanished from the playpen, reappearing an instant later beside Steve and Ani. Angel clung to Steve slightly, still a bit shaky. "Seevie kay? Ani kay?"

Wolfey was quite relieved to know no one would be forced into battle. "Ok, let me see if I understand everything here. Ani and the rest of the children are descended from these Tenjutsus who where wiped out in a war thousands of years ago. The ones in this Alterealm send the kids out to you to find them good home then when they get old enough the children attend this Academy. The Academy trains them to master their powers, and defend themselves weather they choose to join the battle or not." He rubs his chin thinking then pulls out the metal bandana thing that Ani had on his blanket when Wolfey got him and lays it on a simi clear space on Rune's cluttered desk.
"Does this thing have to do with Ani's powers? Can he do things with his powers already?" This would explane some things.
----------------------------------------
Ani's eyes go wide as he sees the other babies disappear out of the playpen then reappear right beside Steve and him. He giggles and claps his hands in glee. "Ani poof next with Ar-oh-sin?" He tried his best to say it like the older girl did. He looks over at Steve getting hugged by Angel and grins.

It still didn't rub Yamazaki the right way, and it showed. He knew better than to think that whatever wiped them out, wouldn't be back later. At least, not without knowing more about who did it, why, and if they were still around.
Sadly though, he couldn't see any imediate fault with the Academy idea. Other than the fact he believed it was Guild Recruitment. Teachings that 'nudged' them down that path, with propaganda, altered history, etc.
"Can we visit this, school, at will?" he asked Rune, his eyes still glaring at where the map display was, even though it was gone. Leaving Steve there, alone, unable to fend off whatever they wanted to plant in his brain. It didn't sit well, no sir.
------------------------------------------------
"I 'kay. No problem. Ninja is strong!" Steve cheerfully answered Angel, hoisting his staff up again, flexing his arm in the air. Not that he had much muscle, but he was obviously proud of surviving his first scuffle.
"Big Man... you show me how to ninja thing like that?" Steve asked Cody, throughly more impressed by his baby-porting skills than he older, grumpy lady with her little spideweb ball thingy. "I wanna do Ninja Magic! Go "Hoo ha!" poof too!"

Rune laughed. "I think some of the teachers would be offended if you didn't." She grinned at Yamazaki, her eyes sparkling as a sudden idea hit. "Actually, they don't have a shop teacher, or a smith - Caitlyn was complaining about it the other day when we were there. Well, technically, Cait was threatening to open the class, and Logan was appalled at it." She snickered, obviously amused. "Something about Cait and any kind of tool is probably a bad thing."
Glancing at the band, Rune nodded, left hand rising and moving in a complicated set of hand gestures. A small chart flickered into place where the map image had been, familiar symbols with small titles underneath them. The one on the band Wolfey held was listed as Fire, while Yamazaki would recognize the one labeled Space as the same tattoo on Steve's shoulder as well as his takrai. "The bands the kids have are called takrai. They indicate the element of Tenjutsu magic each kid is born with. They all have abilities in common, of course, but each element is slightly different."
--------------------------------------------
Ramene's lips twitched in a smile, and Cody laughed. "I'm actually not that great with the poofing, squirt." He said, sounding rather regretful. He motioned to the takrai wrapped around his arm, its Earth symbol plain on the polished metal. "I'm more of an earth kind of guy. For teleporting, you want Ramene."
"The Lady Rune - " Motoko began, then quailed slightly as Ramene gave her a raised eyebrow look. "Aunt Rune won't care so long as we're careful." The dark haired girl smiled wryly down at the assembled kids. "You're a bit young to teach this to, but I bet you can learn."

Perfect. Yamazaki's eyes were gleeming at the idea, and he gave Rune a breif nod. There, he could get some extra scratch, keep an eye on Steve, at least for an hour or two each day. Head off any zealous teachings and the like. Maybe even get some more time in with him, just for bonding as well. He was growing up so damned fast, after all.
"Well, I know the powers thing. You covered that somewhat. Said Steve was Space. Something about teleporting. Guess that means his kid's going to have some pyromaniac abilities running around," Yamazaki muttered, then couldn't help but glance back towards where he believed the kids would be. As though he could see Wolfey's kid burning things, through all the walls and furniture in the way.
-------------------------------------------------
Steve let out a triumphant cry of "Whoo!" as it seemed the older bigger kids were going to show him how to do the poof trick. That was a ninja thing. An important ninja thing, from what he saw/knew. So if he could do that, then, then he would almost be a ninja.
He cuddled back at Angel slightly, giving her a smile, before he looked back at Motoko and Ramene. He set his stick down, only for a moment, and near Angel, the kid he trusted. Slowly he wobbled up to his feet, and started walking towards the two ont he couch.
"So... poof things needs that glowy stuff, right?" Steve asked, then started looking around the room, trying to see if he could 'see' that glowing stuff the Tomorrow Sins again. He thought he saw that stuff only at night, but, when Ramene did it, he saw it again... so where was this glowy stuff now?

Wolfey's eyes go wide and his face goes white when he see the symbol that was on Ani's takrai and read the word "fire" beside it.
"Oh great... fire..," Wolfey runs his fingers through his hair. "Something wonderfully destructive and me being an artist lots to burn. Why oh why did it have to be fire!" He slumps against the wall and looks at Rune a smirk on his face. "I guess this means I need to stock up on fire extinguishers?"

Ani follows Steve just as eager to learn how to poof too!

Rune opened her mouth to reply, then blinked in surprise as a female voice yelled from somewhere nearby.
"OY, TRAVERSE! WHERE THE EFFING HELL AM I AND WHY IS THIS :GATE: WRAPPED IN A SHEET?!?"
"Oh, for crying out - " Rune smacked her forehead, then yelled back, "BECAUSE YOU INSIST ON USING THE ONES THAT AREN'T SET UP YET AND GET TUCKED IN STORAGE! Idiot." She muttered, her tone a combination of affection and exasperation. "Though it is perfect timing, if you guys want to meet a - well, she's not exactly a teacher, at least not yet."
"I should hope not." A slightly accented voice came from the doorway. Leaning casually against the frame was a tall, lithe woman with mahogany skin and the air of an agile panther. Dressed mostly in dark clothes, her thick black hair had been pulled back in a number of braids wrapped in cloth; a bronze cross gleamed on the choker at her throat, and a Dark-elemented takrai rested above her forehead. Raising an eyebrow, she added in amusement, "I severely doubt the younger ones need to be exposed to her brand of education just yet. They might not survive the experience."
"Heh, she's not that bad." Piped up a younger voice from behind the woman, quite cheerful as its owner appeared. Shorter than the first, this young woman seemed maybe a few years older than Rune's twenty, if that. With pale skin, a slightly freckled nose and sandy-red hair, she was dressed in ripped jeans with leggings underneath, a T-shirt, and a Water-elemented takrai tied around her waist like a belt. Her grey-green eyes danced as she grinned. "At least she hasn't broken anything." A crash from the next room made the grin wider. "Okay, she hasn't killed herself yet."
Rune snorted, though by her laugh, it was clear she was amused. "Yamazaki, Wolfey, these are a few of the teachers from the Academy. Sora, Cait, these are two of the Guardians for the Tenjutsu. The yelling one is Siker, she'll be here in a few minutes."
The dark woman nodded briefly in greeting, gaze measuring as she eyed the two men. Cait, on the other hand, trotted happily inside and waved, perching on the edge of a nearby table. "Really? Hi. I'm Cait - well, Caitlyn, anyway. Which kids?"
--------------------------------------------
Ramene's cool expression softened slightly, and she smiled. "Alright, the first thing to do is pick a target place." She coached gently, moving the two boys apart a ways and clearing the area around them. "You're a little young for visualizing yet, so it should be a place you can see. Someplace close, like to Cody."

"Cait huh... name's Yamazaki. Rune there was just trying to get me to be your smith," he said, smiling a bit and sticking his left hand out for her to shake. The smile crept a little bigger, "I'm the guardian of Steve. The one with the Space Tattoo on his shoulder, white hair, red eyes," he filled in, though he doubted the 'teachers' would have all of the kids memorized, and if they did, well, that pointed to this school being very, very small. Along with the rest of the Tenjutsu population.
--------------------------
"Close place..." Steve muttered, looking around, Finally he fixated on where Stick and Angel were, a few feet away, it seemed like just as good a target as anything else.
"Now what do I do to make the glowy stuff poof me?"

Wolfey looks up clearing his mind of visions of Ani accidently burning the house down. He gives a smile to Ani's possble new teachers. "Greetings Sora... Cait... Wolfey Fireborn at your service. My boy is Aniwaya a wolf boy, black ears and tail, emerald colored eyes and lucky for me his element seems to be fire." He smirks always able to see the humor in everything even bad fortune. "Can you two tell us what you teach at the academy?"
--------------------------------------------
Ani looks around for a spot, finally his eyes settle on a fluffy pillow layin on the floor at the end of the couch. "Otay, found it now wat?"

"Ah, the cutie!" Cait laughed, shaking Yamazaki's hand happily. "Well, they're both cuties - the little wolf always had his tail going, I remember."
"And Steve tried to take your caltrops and stick them in his diaper." Sora's voice was amused, and Cait flushed lightly before her grin returned. "How was I supposed to know? I bet he becomes a great ninja, though. He had all the signs. And I teach Practical magic classes, mostly."
"Yeah, watching her make a fool out of herself is quite practical." Rune muttered teasingly, grinning and ducking as a pillow flew off the couch and nearly beaned her in the head. Sora's lips twitched, and she added, "I teach the blade classes and tracking, though I'm qualified for math and science as well. Actually, we could use a smith quite a bit."
------------------------------------------------
"Now, concentrate very hard on the energy that you want." Ramene's voice was calm and soft. "It's there, you just have to call it out. Imagine yourself bringing in the energy, like having it click a switch in your head. When you turn it on, you poof to the place you want to be."

"Sometime when we can really sit down, I want to go over your course syllabus. Not to offend, but this whole Academy thing was just springed on me. I want to see just what you'll be teaching the kid. Know what I mean?" he said, raising his eyebrows at Cait and Sora.
"Besides, it's been a while, but I'm not exactly a slouch, I could probably cover combat classes, for him. Guess all he really needs is some magic lessons. Not to mention basics like math and science."
Still Yamazaki seemed a bit, uncomfortable with this whole thing. Military Academies weren't exactly the sort of place he wanted that little kid. Sure he hadn't know him too long, but he was connecting with the kid.
------------------------------------------------------
Steve frowned, his eyes squinting as he looked at the shimmering lines in the air. The Tomorrow Sins that he saw, occasionally, usually at night. They were still there, and barely detectable in the bright room.
Still, he had his target. His hand reached out, grabbing at the thread of sin'oka (That's what it's called in the Space Element Description on the front page sweatdrop ) energy he saw, and trying to pull it to him, "Git over here poofy stuff!"

He chuckles at Cait's comment about Ani. "And his tail is still going I'm surprized that he hasn't wagged it off yet!" Practical magic he guessed that was to help them learn to use and control their natural abilities. Blade of course to protect themselves from physical attacks and tracking, Wolfey smiles over that. "Sora, I believe tracking will be one of Ani's best subjects, hes always sniffling everything with that nose of his!" He was pleased to hear math and science, glad they didn't skip over the less exciting but needed subjects.
He turns to Yamazaki. "Mr. Yamazaki I apologize I've not said one word to you during this whole meeting. Wolfey Fireborn at your service. If I may be nosey what does a magesmith do exactly?"
--------------------------
Ani closes his eyes, his little face scrunching up in concentration, looking for the energy. He thought he felt something but it turned out to be a burp! Ani mumbles "scuse me" then concentrates again, harder. Ani took in a sudden breath, he felt it, the energy! It made his skin kinda tingley, warm feeling and if one could feel colors Ani felt the color blue. "Mez got it! Now wat do?" Ani asks his eyes still shut tight.
