"Hmm?" His head tilted ever so slightly to one side causing dark forelocks to fall before his eyes. He quickly shook his head lightly to reposition the troublesome strands. He had missed the hint or at least in the way she meant it. He assumed, instead, that she meant to pick the pace. He imagined that she was only saying that if they ran they would be there in no time at all. But, Fionn didn't run. Ever. Unless of course he was being chased by something quite ferocious but that was a different story.
"Well, I suppose hastening the pace would be quite silly indeed but moving any slower would surely take far too long." As he spoke he nodded his head slowly as though agreeing with himself. "I do believe that a trip somewhere in the middle of the scale would be much more desirable. Would you agree?" He quirked his head inquisitively to the other side truly curious to hear her opinion on the matter. If she felt that this speed was to slow or fast he could easily adjust his stride to better accommodate her needs.

If it had been feasible at that moment, Blossom would have knocked her head on a hard and unyielding surface. Repeatedly. Still, she wasn't one to give up hope yet. They'd only known each other for mere minutes and it was entirely possible that Fionn was just that naive. Perhaps she could teach him.
The pink mare considered the length of the journey and the pace they were moving at and decided it might be a good idea to tack a detour on. A long detour, given how long it took the stallion to pick up the most obvious of hints. "I suppose I'll have to agree," she said out loud. Then she gave him another not-quite-patheticly-sad look. "But the way you talk, it makes me wonder if you even want to spend more time with me."
It was a powerful weapon, and one she couldn't overuse, but damnit, she wasn't going to let this opportunit slip out of her grip!

There was that look again and it was shortly followed by a tightening feeling in his throat. It somehow inspired a strong feeling of guilt in him. "I beg your forgiveness milady. It was not my intent to imply that I do not wish to spend time with you." He stopped in his tracks to give her an apologetic look and to show that she had his fullest attention.
"I am truly very blessed, being able to spend time with such a beautiful and kind lady. It's a wonderful thing, really." There was nothing but sincerity in his voice and on his face. "If milady wishes it I would be happy to slow down and spend more time with her." He wasn't entirely sure what words were spilling out of his mouth any longer. The words seemed less important to him than the burning sensation that had resurfaced on his cheeks.

There was a reason why that look was the most powerful weapon in Blossom's arsenal and she was pleased with the results. She too stopped walking and turned to face Fionn, smiling. And if there was a hint of calculation and satisfaction in her eyes, the stallion would probably not pick up on that, given his obliviousness to most things.
"Well, I suppose I'll have to forgive you for that - you're too cute for me to do anything else!" she added with a wink. But boy, could this guy just sweep a girl off her feet with the way he talked! She could tell that he meant everything that he said. It made her feel a little guilty for how she liked to flirt with any handsome stallion to cross her path, but she pushed the feeling aside. She could feel guilty later she decided, when there wasn't a handsome stallion nearby.
It seemed the long detour might not be necessary. "Sure I'd like you to slow down, it's the best way to get to know someone," the mare replied, thinking how the double entendre would also probably go right over his head.

The relief he felt was evident in his face along with the sudden awkward shyness that came with yet another wink. It was so easy, he was finding, for her to trip him up with such a simple look. He wondered, briefly, if she had this sort of effect on other stallions or if his susceptibility was just another of his oddities. In the end it didn't matter. He decided that it would be best for him to break his rather inappropriately long silence and stop gawking at the pretty girl as well.
"It certainly would seem that way, milady." He said with a warm smile and a laugh that held a slightly nervous undertone. "Slowing down allows more time to be spent with one another after all." His smile faltered slightly as he mentally scolded himself for saying such useless things. It was quite obvious that slowing down would take more time so why had he felt the need to say it?
Resisting the urge to sigh he started to move again, slowly and towards Blossom to better catch up. It did not seem at all right to stay so far away from her if they were to converse during their trip.

"Yes, that is quite true indeed," Blossom replied handily. Clearly Fionn was stuck, not knowing what to say. Which could be a good sign - he might really like her. How quaint. Still, they weren't at the stage where they could simply sit and enjoy each other's company. So it fell to her to revive the dying conversation.
"Tell me about yourself," she told the stallion. "I doubt you've lived in this area your whole life if you didn't know how to get back to that hilltop." She had a feeling that if she hadn't given him a prompt of some kind, Fionn might make this conversation even more painful than it had been thus far.

Her request caught him a little off guard. He wasn't entirely sure what exactly to tell her about himself. An uneasy feeling descended on him but he tried to shake it. She had given him a starting point, he just had to work with it.
"Milady would be correct in her assumptions." He began seeming to take the shift in conversation better than he was. "My family comes from the two-legged ones' village and the areas nearest to it." He smiled at her hoping that she knew of the place. He had no idea how to explain the exact location to her. "While this was not my first time to venture outside the territory I must admit it is the first time I have found myself in this place."
He paused in his speech to look around at the surrounding scenery. He made a note to himself to try and return when the snow was not forcing him to. His eyes finally came to a rest on Blossom's form. It was very pretty here, after all. "Where does milady call her home? Is it this place? Milady does seem to know the grounds quite well..."

"Ah, the village, I know a bit about it, yes," Blossom replied. She'd never actually been there and harbored some suspicions about the two-leggers and Soquili who chose to live there...but if they produced specimens such as Fionn, perhaps they weren't too bad after all.
But it certainly did explain his sheer failure to find his way around this forest.
"Oh, here and there," she answered the question. "I've lived in this forest and on the plains nearby, wherever my father has seen fit to go." The mare forbore to mention all the wayfinding tricks and tips Paul Revere had given her. Lessons weren't romantic enough at this point. However...
"I'd love to show you other ways to get around," she added.

His ears perked curiously at her answer. So she traveled from place to place with her father. He looked upon her with a certain admiration in his eyes. The things she must have seen and learned in her travels. He envied her slightly. His world was small but hers...hers must have been so large and amazing.
"Milady I would be honored if you would show me around." He said, a hint of that admiration lacing into his words. However, he paused for a moment to think more seriously on her offer. As much as he would love to follow her about for an unknown amount of time their was his family to take into consideration. They would be expecting him back sometime this evening, could he really just vanish like that? He wasn't sure. He had to think on it more.

As they spoke, Blossom had been carefully leading Fionn through the forest and slowly they rose in elevation as they went. The pink mare turned and smiled at her new friend. "Well, I suppose I can't show you around unless if you cna find me first," she commented, before going silent, eyes focused on something distant as the mare ran an idea through her head.
"I know! There's a pond not too far from the bluff - see, on your left there? If I'm in the area you can probably find me by the pond, and then I'll happily show you a bit more about finding your way around," she grinned, welcoming Fionn to share her little joke.
A few more lengths and they came out of the trees onto the sunlit bluff, ending their first journey together. Blossom felt a pang in her heart; the journey had gone by much more quickly than she'd anticipated.

Blossom had a good point. If he couldn't find the mare there wouldn't be much point in taking her up on her offer. It wasn't as though she could just follow him all the way back to the village and wait until he was ready to go out again. That would just be silly. So when she pointed out the spot where he was likely to find her, should she be around, he payed very close attention.
He looked at the area in the distance or rather stared at it to commit it to his memory. Once he was pretty sure he had it in his mind he turned his gaze away. "I will remember the place and will most certainly seek you out there." He said sounding quite cheerful, completely missing any joke that she had.
He fell quiet then and then all of a sudden he recognized where they were. His eyes wandered about the area happily as they stepped through the trees. From here he could easily find his way home! He wouldn't be late! A large grin spread across his face as he thought of his family then fell. But going home meant that he had to leave.
He turned to look at the pretty pink mare feeling a sudden heaviness in his heart. "I suppose that this is 'farewell' for now milady." He couldn't hide the unhappy look in his eyes.

Blossom smiled at Fionn. He really was a sweet stallion and though she knew she could wrap him around her hoof so easily, she didn't really want to. He was...better than that.
"It's not 'farewell,'" she chided him. "It's, 'see you again soon.'"
Another grin, another wink, and then her reddish tail was all that faced the stallion as she cantered off, back into the forest.

"O-of course." He stammered feeling his face grow a bit hot again. "I was mistaken..." Despite making such a mistake he was smiling so bright it could make the stars envious. And wearing this smile he watched Blossom turn her back on him. "I'll see you again soon!" He called to her as she drifted out of sight.
"It is a promise." And promises needed to be kept.
With that in mind he turned away and headed back towards the village. He needed to meet with his family as quickly as possible. He had something very important to speak with them about after all.
