Isabel's eyes went wide briefly as Gin went darting away. And for a moment, she was filled with a rush of adrenaline.

It would have been rude, yes, but now was her chance! She could get away without having to try and drop hints that she'd rather be alone -- even being painfully shy, she still felt the need to be nice. But would Gin come looking for her anyway? What would she say if he found her? Where would she go?

In her indecision, Isabel pranced in place. She fretted inwardly, wondering just what Gin thought he needed to do, but she didn't have to wait long. Even if she tried to sneak out without him noticing, he would have been back before she even made it to the door.

The cake... that's what he'd thought about. If her pelt hadn't already been white, surely she would have paled when she saw those two thick slices on the plate in his mouth. It did look delicious, and it smelled that way when the scent wafted over, but... the fact that it still looked like her was a bit off-putting.

"Um...." Now what to say? She swallowed thickly, cocking her head to one side to peer at Gin sideways. "Y-yes, thank you."

After setting the plate down carefully on the nearest table, he took a step back, a proud smile on his face. "Ladies first! Also, you have to tell me what you think of it, the taste I mean and be truthful, please. If it tastes horrible, I must know, so that I can better my skills as a baker!!"

The look on his face was hopeful with a hint of nervous, was he sweating? What if she didn't like it? He didn't know what he would do if she said it tasted bad, faint perhaps.. That wouldn't be very manly of him.

He took a step forward slowly and leaned down to nudge the plate toward her with the tip of his nose, getting a bit of frosting on his face in the process before leaning back to continue watching her.

The cake... on it's plate... sitting there on the table... it stared right back at her as Isabel lowered her head to peer at it. It did look delicious, she hadn't lied when she said that, but the coincidence was just far too uncanny. She almost expected it to taste like pony-fur when she bit into it.

Her eyes raised to peek at Gin, to see if maybe he'd look away for a moment so she could take a bite unnoticed -- but. The little dollop of creamy icing on the end of his muzzle made her smile. A genuine smile, an amused one at that, and she visibly relaxed.

"You have.. um... a little, there, on y-your nose..." she said to him gently, the previously nervous expression on her face softening quite a bit.

So what if the cake looked just like her! It should have been a backwards sort of compliment. Even if he hadn't seen her before, the cake was beautiful and it looked just like her -- wouldn't that mean that she, too, was beautiful? Too pretty to eat, she hoped, but cakes were made to be eaten.

Her head dipped once more and she took in a deep breath and she carefully pulled a bite-sized piece of cake off with her teeth. Sweetness hit her taste-buds first, but it was subtle and the icing was perfect and as she chewed, her head bobbed in approval.

"It's delicious," was her sincere but quiet reply, after swallowing. "You made this all by yourself?"

"Delicious?" His eyes lit up and his smile grew wider and then he blinked, going cross eyed to try and see this said icing that was on the tip of his muzzle.

His tongue went this way and that way while trying to lick it off, he even lowered his head and lifted one of his front legs to maybe brush it off that way, but had no success. "You just keep eating, you can have the other piece also!!" He looked around the room for a towel or napkin, if he didn't need it, he'd be able to find one right away.

While looking around the room absently, he called back to her. "For the most part, I made it by myself! I needed help with the transportation, but the baking and decorating was all me. It was the biggest cake I've ever made, the most beautiful too!"

As she looked at the slice of cake, with one obvious bite out of the corner of it, Isabel spied a meticulously piped pink rose. It looked like it had been plucked right off her pelt, delicate and soft and so natural. And though she spent a moment admiring it, chancing a glance towards Gin as he tried to rid his muzzle of icing, she opened her mouth and took another bite -- this time, right over the pretty pink rose.

She chewed it as gently as she could, but shook her head to his reply. "No, it's o-okay, Gin.. You can have some of your cake."

Her head followed him as he moved around the little room, searching for something, she assumed, to rid his nose of frosting. She smiled because of it and even let her short, blond tail wave back and forth happily behind her.

"You're very talented at decorating cakes," she offered after a moment, in a sincere voice. Then she moved away from the plate, taking careful steps to move in his direction. "If you come here, I'll h-help with the frosting.."

Gin blinked once and lifted his head, cocking it to the side for a moment before smiling and nodding. Walking over to stand in front of her, he mumbled quietly.

"Thank you, that means a lot to me. I worked hard on it! Oh, and you can take the other piece home with you, I can always make myself some more. Perhaps you have..someone you can share it with."

He leaned forward a bit so that she could get the frosting, wrinkling his nose slightly before taking in a deep breath. This was embarrassing and it would happen to him of course and in front of Isabel, he had the worst luck ever. He shook his head slightly, letting out a quiet sigh.

Harrowing experience aside, Gin was... rather nice. Amicable enough, definitely cheerful if not a bit overzealous. And when he wasn't looking at her as if he wanted to gnaw on one of her legs, Isabel thought he could probably be a nice pony to befriend.

But befriending another pony, that was something she didn't have much experience in. Gin was, to date, maybe the third.. possibly fourth.. pony she'd ever even spoken to. There were a couple ponies in her pasture that she'd had a (one-sided) conversation with, but nothing that lasted as long as it had with Gin. Which wasn't very long to begin with, so that was certainly saying something!

So when he stepped closer, Isabel flushed. Bright pink, to match the flowers dotting her coat on either side, and spreading slowly all the way up to the tips of her white ears.

"You're welcome," she said, in an even quieter voice than before, and then dipped her head to give the end of his muzzle a quick little lick. Freeing it of frosting and only causing her blush to deepen.

Right now, Gin was thanking the heavens that his pelt was red because if it was any other color, the blush that had spread across his cheeks when she licked his nose would have been very apparent and he would've been even more embarrassed then he already was.

He mumbled quietly before taking a step back to regain his composure. "Thank you again!" He offered a warm smile, standing there for a moment before perking up.

"Silly me, I've been keeping you hostage back here this whole time and you probably need to go, hmm? Let's see how the crowd is looking."

He trotted over slowly to peek out the small window on the door, the crowd had thinned a great deal, just a few stray ponies here and there were gathering all of the goods they had collected. Now was as good a time as any for her to make her escape. "Let me wrap up the cake for you, do you live far from here?"

Wrap up the cake? Isabel's head turned to watch Gin as he moved back from the door. While it was delicious, it was far too much for her to eat all by herself. After all... "You don't have to wrap it up for me," she offered. "I don't have anyone to sh-share it with."

She supposed she could find another pony, since Gin's cake was tasty enough that it probably wouldn't be a problem. But the baker, at least, should enjoy his creation. Or some of it, anyway.

"No, not too far," came her answer to his other question. It had been what she'd wanted originally, just to get home and be alone and not have to worry about making small talk or somehow embarrassing herself. Now, though, Isabel would have enjoyed spending some more time with Gin. It was lovely having someone to talk to... who didn't seem to notice in the least that she wasn't so great at meeting new ponies.

"Will you walk with me?" was blurted out a moment later, a rather shocked look registering across her face. Had she been thinking that? Let alone enough to voice it? Even she wasn't quite so sure and she stared, a little wide eyed, in Gin's direction.

"What kind of a pony would I be if I didn't make sure you got home safely?" He nodded once, eying the cake for a moment before mumbling. "It would be my pleasure to walk you home, I was actually going to ask anyway. But just..let me..eat this first."

He trotted over, lowering his head to eat he slice of the cake in a few quick, large bites, making sure not to get anymore icing on his face before leaning back with a satisfied smile. "Perfect.."

Nodding once, he stepped back and made his way over to the door, nudging it open carefully and holding it in place.

"Ladies first!" His tail swished back and forth excitedly, he would come back later to help with the clean up and or make Imani and Jasper tend to it, that sounded even better.

Isabel actually smiled, then nodded, when Gin moved to finish off his half of the cake. She waited patiently as he ate, though it took much less time than she thought it would, and she wondered inwardly how he could even taste the cake while gobbling it down that quickly...

No matter, though! As the door was opened for her, Isabel stepped lightly over towards it. She figured most of the crowd of hungry ponies had dissipated, but she craned her head just enough to peek around the doorway regardless. A quick scan of the area confirmed it and she slid past both Gin and the open door with a quiet, "Thank you.." as she went.

Once outside, she could still smell the sweet scent of all the baked goods -- even if most were bought, eaten, or packed away again. It was cooler outside than it had been inside, especially with the ovens warming the room as they came down in temperature. She stretched her legs, just a little bit, and wiggled her tail enough to let the bow resting there rustle with the movement.

Then, she turned her attention back onto Gin. "It's this way..." she directed him, with a dip of her head to the right.

Letting the door shut behind them, Gin weaved his way through the remaining ponies in the building alongside Isabel, reaching the exit in just a few minutes.

The air outside was crisp and refreshing, it felt good to finally get out of there. Trotting happily next to Isabel, he turned to the right when she said so, following after her and paying close attention so he wouldn't get lost on his way back. "I'll follow you! I don't really know my way around here to well.."

Wouldn't that be embarrassing if Yuuki had to come and save him, perhaps pull him out of a ditch and rescue him from wolves in the process. Wolves.. Gin shuddered at the thought.

"I don't really get out much, I usually just stay in and bake!"

While walking with Gin, Isabel was quiet. As if she was ever a chatterbox to begin with, but she was still unsure of what to say. Being shy or not, she had never been any good at making small talk with other ponies -- usually resorting to one or two-word replies and causing the conversation to be cut short.

It was a shame, of course, because Isabel really was very sweet. And it got rather lonely being by herself all the time. She just couldn't work past the nervousness other ponies gave her, or she hadn't yet found a way to do so, anyway.

But she walked in silence, leading the way as Gin stated, and trotted up over one side of a small hill before stopping once she reached the top. Her home pasture was just beyond the bottom of the hill, with more familiar grass and trees and stables.

"It's down there," she said to him, finally, with a side-glance in his direction. "You can go back... i-if you want, so you don't get lost." Though she didn't exactly want him to, nor did she know how to ask him to stay longer, she simply offered a tentative smile... and.... stood there. Waiting for Gin to turn and move away.

Following behind her up the hill, he felt himself getting a little winded, finally reaching the top to stand next to her before mumbling quietly, catching his breath.

"Perhaps I need to stop the baking and get out more often, I will end up being the fattest pony in my pasture."

He stared at her with a horrified look on his face before going crosseyed. "But the cakes and pies.. so good.." He shook his head quickly to shake the thoughts from his brain before looking around, scanning the area. "It's pretty out here, it looks a lot like my pasture! They probably all look the same though, except Seraphim.. I bet his pasture is like made out of gold and diamonds."

He chuckled quietly, bouncing back and forth for a moment before getting a sudden burst of energy, running a few circles around her.

"I don't have to leave yet, I will walk you the rest of the way!! So that I can sleep soundly knowing that you arrived safely."

There was the slightest of giggles that bubbled out of Isabel as Gin pranced around her. For his mentioning of being the fattest pony in the pasture (which elicited quite the mental image indeed!), for the statement that Seraphim's pasture was laden with gold and diamonds (it very well could have, for all she knew...), and for the dizzying feeling that settled in over her as she tried to keep her eyes on him as he moved.

"You're funny," she said, almost out of nowhere. Though her giggling probably had been a good indication that she found Gin humorous. "I think you've had too much sugar." But how much was too much? Especially to a pony like Gin, who seemed saturated in it right down to his coat and coloring (much like herself!) even without the baked goods!

Once her giggling faded, Isabel's muzzle flushed under her mop of blond curls. She was glad he offered to stay, and was rather comforted by the fact that he seemed so gentlemanly -- or, at least, at the moment he did.

"Don't stop baking," she went on to say, nudging a little at the grass underfoot with her hoof. Her tone of voice was just as soft and just as timid as it had been from the beginning, but this time... it was hiding something. Something playful, since Gin's circling and bouncing had planted an idea. "You should j-just exercise more, that's all..." Short pause. "I'll race you to the end of the hill.."

But she was off and running, down the hill, before her sentence was even out of her mouth.
