"Yes! It's perfectly fine. I'm Ema - I mean...Feli. I'm Feli," Max was slightly curious as to why she had to catch herself, but it wasn't important. Everyone at this school seemed to have something to hide, and he wasn't in the mood to pry.

He was curious, however, about her accent. It seemed very familiar. Spanish? No. . . and it definitely wasn't Italian, so that left. . . Portugal! He loved it in Portugal! "Are you, by chance, Portuguese?" now he was very curious about her. "I went there on holiday when I was young." he continued. He didn't want to seem like a huge creep.

Meanwhile, Padgett was in the process of waking up. The small cloud opened two shockingly black eyes from underneath the folds and layers of what was becoming cotton white vapor, and a yawn emitted itself from the small cumulus figure in the form of a puff of steam. The ebony eyes situated towards the center of the cloud blinked excitedly at the sight of a new person. He hadn't spoken to anyone but Max for a few months, since Max had basically been locked inside the library studying for exams and writing essays. He shifted form into his regular self, a small but willowy looking child with deep black eyes and curly blonde hair. Padgett, whose name means 'page' or 'assistant' was created from Max to be a guide and help. He squeaked and held out a thin arm. Bonjour! Je suis Padgett! he said. It seemed like his voice echoed over the entire bus, but the other students didn't even notice. He was speaking to this 'Feli' character, so only she and Max could hear him.

"Y-yeah. This is Padgett. He's my faerie." said Max, pulling a small knife from his bag. The silver blade had 'Maximilien' engraved on it. There was a small aquarmarine on the hilt, and it seemed to glimmer in a rhythm that mimicked Padgett's. "As long as I have this on me, I can get Padgett from anywhere he happens to be," He explained. "Not that he ever leaves my side. He's still young, after alll" he laughed awkardly and then stuck the knife back into his bag.

Feli noticed Max's curiousity after her tongue tripped over her own introduction. She frowned, wondering how to explain about her name in a way that wouldn't sound awkward or forced, and her mind drifted back into the conversation as she heard him ask about her nationality. "Are you, by chance, Portuguese? I went there on holiday when I was young."

She brightened instantly, seeing her opportunity. "Yes, I am," she grinned broadly, crossing her fingers over her knees. "I was born there but came over with my grandparents, and I haven't been back for a few years..." Crossing and recrossing her legs to have something to do - she was used to constantly running around and when cooped up, she wriggled and fidgeted - Feli coloured slightly and began, "That's what all the confusion was about. My real first name is Ema, but all my friends and family called - " she winced reflexively at the past tense " - me Feli, which comes from Felicitas, one of my middle names." She raised her eyes to his face and noted the excitement in his eyes. "Did you like it there, in Portugal?" Nostalgia hit her like a six-tonne brick and she turned away, blinking her eyes rapidly to hold back the tears she could feel welling up. She missed her homeland terribly, with its softly rolling green hills and beautiful shores, its miles and miles of patchwork farmland. She'd always thought it the most breathtaking place on earth, largely untouched by the smog and pollution of the urban world - except, of course, for its major cities, like Lisboa. For a long time, she'd dreamed of it every night, but now the dreams appeared much more rarely. Her body ached to return, but since the deaths of her grandparents, she had no one with whom to travel and explore her native country's beauty. It had even been at least a month or two since she'd spoken in her mother tongue, though she used to sing traditional Portuguese songs constantly.

Her attention was refocused by the waking of the strange cloud above Max's head. Feli watched in awe as it morphed into a tiny, sloe-eyed, curly-headed boy-child who greeted her in French. Though she barely knew the basic greetings in French, she understood the gist of his squeaky speech, and smiled warmly, grasping his small fingers in her own, gentle but firm. "Please call me Feli. Nice to have met you, Padgett." Inwardly Feli was reeling from the shock of this little cloud-boy, but her policy was to accept things as they appeared and freak out privately later, so she continued to grin as she released his hand.

She lifted her eyes to Max again as he explained his relationship to Padgett. It was incredibly interesting, and her eyes widened, taking in the shiny blade and Padgett's little form simultaneously, as he laughed. "Wow!" she breathed. "How amazing you are, the pair of you!" Her giggly laugh erupted from her lips as she spoke, until she realised how strange her English grammar was becoming. Because she'd been remembering Portugal, she'd started thinking in Portuguese again, and it hadn't quite made the full translation to English yet. But she shook her head only slightly and smiled again, wondering if Max would possibly tell her more.

Bored, Rajah went and sat next to Feli. She rested in silence for a few moments, listening to their conversation, before finally feeling brave enough to talk. "Um... hi, guys," she said, almost whispering, feeling, not for the first time, embarrasment about her small size. "Hope I'm not interrupting anything. My name's Rajah." She managed a small smile, extremely proud of herself for getting up and talking to new people on her own. "I been at Ria for almost two weeks, but I still don't really know anybody. I'm hoping this holiday will help me to... make some new friends, I guess."

Turning to Feli, she said, "I believe I heard you say that you are from Portugal. I have some cousins who live there, and I think they are about your age. Perhaps you know them...?" Rajah dug into her memories to remember the last time she had seen those cousins. It had been many hundreds of years ago, on a summer vacation. That had been the time when she and Baeli, her Eruthian third cousin, had ran away, deciding that they were tired of being shunned because they were different, and were going to find a "better place" where everyone was accepted for who they were. That had resulted in Baeli nearly being killed and an abrupt end to the trip. It brought tears to her eyes, because that had been the last time she saw Baeli.

Evie stared up at Lucien with a look of mixed horror and excitement. It was a strange feeling, to be terrified but awe struck at the same time. Or maybe it wasn't... She just hadn't had many opportunities to mix the two. Lucien's smile was contagious, but her fear was still just about to outweigh it. He was tugging her into a spaceship! An unidentified flying object! Oh god, she didn't want to do this... Yet, she wasn't really pulling away wither. True, she was dragging her feet, but she was still letting herself be tugged, then pushed, and suddenly she was inside.

"B-but I don't have magical powers!" were her last words before she vanished into the interior.

It... wasn't really that bad, actually. Leather seats, and already raided snack table, and a small crowd gathered inside. Apparently it was a trip, or something, since these people didn't look like aliens. They must be ready to head off too. Evie swallowed, peeking nervously back at Lucien, and then shuffled a bit deeper inside. "...must've missed a m-memo," she mumbled to herself, wondering about the trip. "So you r-really don't know where it's headed?" she asked, creeping her way inside, inch by inch. She was tense, half expecting it to take off at any second and send her tumbling to the floor.

Lucien gleefully followed suit, looking around the room with thinly veiled curiosity one he was well inside, "No, but I have enough for the both of us!" He said in his usually bright and cheerful tone before adopting a softer voice, "Now relax." He strode further into the room, taking a look at the snack table where the selection of food was somewhat unpleasant and returned to Evie's side.

Still giddy from the experience, he chuckled mischievously as he watched her inch towards the seat, "Nope!" Stomping his foot unto the floor and bellowing, 'Bam!', Lucien gave her a generous push forward, doing the ship's job for him. His hands glowed slightly as he used magic to guide her fall where she'd hand aligned with her back to the seat and arms higher than the armrests. He slid forwards to his own seat behind her, leaving the two of them with a window, "But we'll find out soon enough!"

As if on cue, the airship lifted off the ground and after a few announcements, the robot began to elaborate on the details of their destination: the planet and its inhabitants, their culture and customs... all the way down to the different stages of their reptilian lives. Lucien listened intently, like a student in his favorite class taking notes where the pen and pencil lay solely in his mind, 'How fascinating!' and it showed in his expression.

"Gyaa!" Evie let out a rather ungraceful noise, as her cautious inching pace was suddenly greatly progressed by a push to her back. She stumbled, turning as she went, and managed to land butt first in the chair with her arms smacking lightly against the armrests. She blinked, staring blankly at the back of the seat before herself. How has she done that? Must've been luck... or outside influence. She twisted in her seat, shooting Lucien a suspicious look. "Did you..?" she began.

Then, it began.

"A-ahh..." A shaky stammer slipped from her lips, as she felt herself flatten back into her seat. Her hands scrounged briefly for a seatbelt, then gave up and grasped the armrests instead, clutching so tightly that her knuckles turned white. She barely had enough sense left to listen to the announcements, but in the end, they only made her more nervous. "L-lizard people? Why am I h-here?" she whimpered weakly under her breath.

"L-Lucien..."

Lucien's features glowed slightly as he used magic to annul the forces of inertia acting on his body. It was as if the ship wasn't currently accelerating to high velocities. He bent over her seat, bowing down to look at her face. He grasped her forearms tightly and securely, as if assuring her that she wasn't going to go anywhere, "Relax," His voice came out soft, almost melodic as he'd comfort her, "It's going to be alright. It's nothing different from being on an airplane and flying over to another country to see their wondrous culture and monuments."

His expression took a neutral and serene form as he'd go on, his grip on her releasing slowly, "We're going to see this great kingdom. With real kings and princes. Try to imagine we're going to see my homeland of Campagnia"

Evie jolted slightly at his touch, and her head tipped back a second later to stare up at him. She blinked once, twice, then slowly loosened her grasp upon the armrests. She did try to relax, but didn't have much success. "I-in a plane, you stay on your own planet," she grumbled, her right leg crossing over her left, then restlessly switching to lay the left over the right. "I d-don't have a spacesuit or.. or anything!"

Though, Lucien's next words seemed to calm her, a look of wonder briefly clouding her face. Real kings and princes? She blinked once more, staring straight ahead at the back of the seat before her, appearing suddenly childish, with a tone to match. "...I want to see." Even if they were lizard people, she wanted to see. It was every young girl's dream, at one point or another, to become a princess.

Lucien smiled at her change in demeanor, his features lighting up as well, "That's the spirit!" He picked up her right hand, rubbing it between both to loosen up the muscle, repeating the same for her other hand as his voice had taken the tone of a history professor, full of knowledge soon to be shared, "Their race seems to be fashioned in the ways of the warrior. Everybody works to contribute to a healthy society and sloth is considered to be among the highest disgrace. Imagine living among that culture..." His voice trailed off, as one would to a child in order to let their imagination run wild, "Everybody does their jobs happily and to their fullest capacity. You can see knights patrol the cities and walls- true knights of chivalry, walking in a carefully honed formation and marching in unison; weapons held proudly against their bodies."

"Nobles tend to their royal duties inside the keeps of their castle- kids playing knights and dragons on the courtyard while their mothers giggle at the spectacle and father look upon them proudly from the balconies of their study." His voice trailed off again, allowing that thought to settle before adding his final piece, "Would you not love to witness something so majestic, even once and for a short time?"

Lucien sat back in his seat after giving Evie a reassuring and playful pat on the head, "Don't worry too much about it. If we didn't have the supplies, or if the environment was too toxic, the school wouldn't be condoning this trip to begin with." He laid back on his seat, hands behind his head and sighed contentedly, "Ahh... this will be most exciting."

Evie had calmed, though she blushed and stared at her hand as Lucien began rubbing at it. She didn't protest though, quietly staring as her fingers wiggled slightly. "Ah..." she exhaled softly, listening to his story. She found herself wondering about what her role would be in that type of society. She'd probably be the hated useless type... But, he was supposed to be calming her, not bringing about more worries, and she quickly pushed the thought away. She huffed out softly again, breath ruffling the parting of hair that hung over half of her face. It sounded like a dream world, the way he described everyone being happy and proud. Was there no rebellion or unease here? Were parents always there to look at their children through proud eyes? Now she really wanted to see.

Her head tipped back again, peering up at him through a bright green eye, and then glanced away once more. "I.. guess they w-wouldn't send us off to die, huh..." she reasoned with a faint, slightly humorless laugh. That wouldn't do at all for a school of this size, and so many people wouldn't have shown up if they weren't sure they'd be okay. Unless, of course, they were like Lucien. She let out another soft sigh, wiggling impatiently in her seat.

Of course, the trip hardly lasted at all due to their method of travel.
PostPosted: Fri Dec 04, 2009 10:00 pm

Lucien smiled at her realization, "See? Don't I think of everything?" His face contorted into a somewhat wacky expression of pride before he sunk back to his chair, shifting it back into a more comfortable position and proceeded to stare blankly at the ceiling as his mind poured over other matter and mulled through countless ideas. The ship must have been traveling at unfathomable velocities since they arrived much sooner than expected: little over five hours. And the android said they had taken slightly longer than usual, as if that wasn't astonishing enough.

As he got up, there was a heaviness to his limbs that was absent before. They mentioned a much denser atmosphere with gravity that was slightly stronger than the Earth's. While it was somewhat hard to get up, Lucien refused to use his magic to help him so do almost effortlessly. An utter waste of time and a bad first impression for the locals. He'd gotten up slowly, taking the time to get used to this new burden before waiting for Evie and stepping out through the threshold into this new realm.

Evie spent the rest of the ride trying to keep her worries at bay. She resisted the urge to remind him that they didn't have extra clothes, and instead just kept silent, chewing at her bottom lip and tightening and loosening her grip upon the armrest at random. She felt torn. She wanted to crawl into the safety of the dorm room she hadn't even acquainted herself with yet, but she also wanted to see these royal lizard people alien things...

She let out a sigh as she realized Lucien was stirring again, and slowly rose up. Or, she tried. She made an awkward lurch in her seat and then slumped back down again. "A-ah..." She couldn't get up. She wriggled weakly, rocking in her seat, and then slowly lifted up, inch by inch. "I-it's heavier here!" she cried. She stood slowly though, slightly doubled over as if some invisible weight was pressing upon her shoulders... which it was. With a slightly awkward shuffle, and a slowly straightening posture, she made her way slowly after Lucien.

Max chuckled at the girl's strange English. "Don't worry. I used to do that all the time. I'd been speaking French so long that my English was almost completely useless." He nodded and Padgett rolled playfully in the air around Feli's head. He seemed to be transforming from a cloud to a faerie to a large snowflake over and over. Max continued to laugh at the rapid transformation from Padgett. Padgett seemed to be enjoying himself.

Max wasn't quite sure what to speak about so he decided to suggest something. "The ship should probably land soon, i can see the planet. When we land, do you want to go to the dining hall? I haven't eaten since yesterday, and I had class this morning so. . ." he shot Feli a hopeful glance and then he heard his stomach rumble. It hadn't been til recently that he had noticd how hungry he was.

Then another girl came over and sat down. She seemed nervous, and he felt kind of bad that he had just suggested something before she had sat down. He smiled and introduced himself, and then waited for Feli to respond. His hunger really was getting the better of him.

Feli giggled and rose her eyebrows apologetically as Max, chuckling, commented on her English. "I..." She focused, her brows quickly drawing together as she forced herself to think in English. "I begin sometimes to think in Portuguese, and my sentence structure then is...incorrect. Or...um, odd?" She raised her hazel eyes (which appeared greenish today due to her deep purple sweater) to Max's face and was shocked by his second statement. He'd been speaking French so long... "You have a very good English! Before you were in France, you lived here? How...how much time were you in France? If I could, eh, know..." She nearly smacked herself. Her English appeared to be deteriorating at an alarmingly exponential rate, and her voice level appeared to be increasing just as fast, though she was hardly yelling. Her characteristically loud, Portuguese self seemed to be making its cameo, and it didn't help that she was on a strange shiplike transportation device, headed to a sweltering reptilian planet for some odd celebration. She blinked a few times, trying to concentrate, but out of the corner of her eye Padgett rolled over and morphed from one being to the next quickly and flawlessly, and she found herself entranced, laughing, her worries about her English forgotten momentarily.

Max's voice grabbed her attention again, and she turned to him with wide eyes as she set herself again to the task of thinking in English. She blinked once more, then realised he was asking her to eat with him, and her wide eyes brightened instantly. Eating together is what friends do! She was thrilled she'd already made a kind friend, and she agreed immediately, looking down to her own stomach, buried in the slightly too-large sweater. She hadn't thought about food, and was glad he'd suggested it. "Of course, yes :3" she grinned cheerily.

Feli barely noticed the girl who had sat down near Max until she spoke up and introduced herself. She peered at Rajah and smiled. "Hello, Rajah! I call myself Feli. It is also a short time that I have been here." She would have held out her hand to shake but reaching across Max would have been inexcusably rude, so she compensated with another big grin. When Rajah mentioned her cousins, Feli couldn't help laughing. "No, no, Portugal is a large country, and only I lived there when I was an infant...I visited sometimes but not often. I'm sorry, I don't think I will know your cousins. But you know Portuguese?" She noticed Rajah's eyes beginning to well up with tears, and figured she must have emotional memories of her cousins. Feli's eyes softened and she endeavoured to change the subject quickly. "Aaah...I'm sorry, Max and I, we are going to find the dining hall when the ship lands soon. I wonder what kinds of food do they eat, the reptilian people? Treachus," she sounded out the word carefully, then shrugged, hoping someone would know how to correctly pronounce it so she didn't look like a fool later when she met one. As she spoke, she felt a slight bump underneath the ship and whipped her head around to look out the window, her eyes widening impossibly at the sight of the reptilian planet. She couldn't believe she'd just landed on another planet...and that she actually thought it beautiful. It was intensely more incredible than anything she could have imagined, and her mouth opened slowly in a tiny o.

[LOLOLOL NO SPEAK THE GOOD ENGRISH.
ps. Annamarie, Feli was sitting next to a window, and Max sat next to her, so I just assumed that Rajah would have seated herself near/next to Max, since she can't sit next to Feli D: But I can change it if not...]
