Cassara spat out the moment she felt the hot liquid touch her scales. She took a quick couple of steps back. She eyed Natalia as she watched her. Fully expecting her to bolt despite her brothers current hold she was trying to predict her next move. Ceres watched in horror as she was left helpless. Was there nothing she could do to calm her daughter- to make her remember who she was? "I've got one last idea," Ayshia said as she tossed her precious violin to the ground. She gave her wife one last look that said it all. Tears streamed down her face. "This will hold her and be a lot less painful. Work your miracles and bring her home," with that she bravely marched up to the equine who was still in mid prance and wrapped her arms around her. It was within minutes that Ayshia formed into a massive tree. Parts of Rhine, Cassara, and Natalia were its captives. It was as if the tree and its captives had been there for years. Everyone made a collected circle of glances. "Way to go sis," Cassara rolled her eyes. She knew that her sister couldn't hear her. She was trapped with in the tree- swallowed by her demons and forced to face them. "Doesn't look like I'll be hurrying up any time soon," Rhine grumbled. He didn't struggle because he knew it was pointless- and also he did not want to harm the tree that was his sister. "Why?" Natalia cried out. With the exception of very few minutes via her head and legs and tips of her wings she could not move. She tried to struggle but it was pointless. "He'll come for me." Hopeless, Ceres sunk into the grass. Keeta came upon the scene as Ayshia was in the process of transforming herself. She stood there a long minute, mouth agape at what she had just seen (and was currently seeing). It was hard to know how to react when one's sister-in-law turned into a tree in front of you, ensnaring your husband and others in the process. Keeta didn't know how to feel, but seeing Ceres land on the grass, she decided that her friend and mother-in-law were her first priority. She hurried over to her and knelt on the ground beside her. "Ceres..." she said softly, placing a hand on the other woman's shoulder.

Any other time Ceres despite distress would have been as sweet as anything and hiding everything until her hand had been forced. But, at this very moment she was anything but her typical self.
"You must go," Ceres said through her tears as she looked at Keeta. Weak as she was she pushed herself to stand and pushed Keeta with some force to take a couple steps back. "Not safe. No, no, no, not at all... Not safe. Go," her voice trembled as she again pushed Keeta.
"Sister you are foolish for coming," Perian snorted and shook her head. "We are trying to protect you..."
Tinker, Aurora, and Aurora Dawn were much gentler as they tried to tug Keeta away. "For your safety you must go," it was eerier how in sync they were- each saying a part of the phrase.

Rhine's ears laid back as he tried to focus on what his mother was saying. He roared as he tried to raise a foot. He wanted to know what was going on and he could hardly make out any of his mothers discomfort- certainly the facts that Keeta was present.
"Brother," Cassara snorted. "Cool your jets- you'll hurt our sister, Ayisha." Despite wanting to move around she forced herself to remain still. "Look you cover my a** and I'll cover yours. You got what's coming and I got what's here."
"Fine," Rhine growled. "What's there?" Though asked it came out as a demand. He was frustrated. He hated to blame Natalia for this mess but all in all it was her fault.
"Your wife is here," Cassara said nonchalantly. "Mother and the others are trying to get her to leave but she's refusing."
Rhine roared out of frustration. He couldn't protect Keeta while he was trapped like this. "When it rains if pours," he growled.
"Pretty much..." Cassara snorted.
Natalia had been listening to them the entire time however she had decided to stay out of it. In the grand scheme of things she had bigger fish to fry. "He'll come for me," she said again, knowing it was just a mater of time.

Keeta shook her head, despite the pleading of Ceres and the others. She wouldn't abandon her new family. Particularly when her husband was caught up in things the way he was. She wasn't without fear, with the knowledge in the back of her mind that she was with child, but she needed to know what was going on. She turned and looked at her gathered family, before leaning closely to Ceres.
"No, I won't go until I know what is going on and whether I can help. I'm as much a part of this family as any of you now. And if it's a family problem I want to be here to help. You say it's not safe...that may be true, but I've been in more dangerous encounters than you may realize. Before I traveled to Gaia, I was well known for my ability to fight. Please, let me help in whatever way I can. I won't walk away and leave my husband or any of you behind here. I care about all of you. Just tell me what is going on!"

"Please-," Ceres pleased. "Not safe," she mumbled. "This is not a fight you can win." She knew she had only told Keeta the tips of the iceberg when it came to the island and its legends. However, she had always lightened things up since she knew how horrible and terrifying some of the acts truly were.
"Listen to her," Cassara hissed. Her body may have been immobile but her mouth wasn't. "Get as far away from here as you can." Despite her hissing and her harsh facial expressions her voice was pleading.
Rhine flattened his ears against himself as he huffed. He knew the thoughts of his life leaving and being safe was just that, a thought.
"You've taken what's been given. You've taken what's mine. You've even taken what's owed." came a voice in a gentle wind. "You think you are smart." It continued as it swirled about each of the females before stopping at the tree. It was evident that it was still there by the slight dance of the blades of grass.
"We're to late," Perian mouthed as a shiver ran down her spine.
"More like just in time," the female equine snorted as she tossed her head up and down. "I told you he would come for me," she chuckled.

Keeta was tired of being told she couldn't or shouldn't or had to do this or that. They could not tell her to leave. She was part of this family and she was not going to allow herself to be treated otherwise. This was plainly expressed at the next words that came out of her mouth.
"Just tell me what the ******** is going on and I can decide for myself whether it is safe or not, or whether or not I should be here to help my family in what is clearly a time of need!" Keeta shook in anger and frustration as the words came flying, and tears streamed down her cheeks. She hoped they would have the expected shock value. She didn't use that word often, and she certainly had never used it in front of any of them.
"I want you to stop treating me like I'm some goddammned outsider, or liability!" She turned to Rhine, where he was immobolized, even though she knew he couldn't see her from where she stood.
"Or do our wedding vows of for better or for worse mean nothing?"
Just as her words finished, however, an unfamiliar voice came on the wind. The breeze chilled and silenced her in an unnatural way. She turned to see who had spoken, but there was no visible being there. Unnerved, she crouched down, and kept looking all about her for the source of the voice, her temper quelled for the moment by her uncertainty.
"Who is that....?" she said quietly, to no one in particular.

"That is what we are protecting you from," Cassara snorted. She wanted to add 'you dumb s**t' to it but she knew that wasn't a way to treat her sister.
"Two late now," Ceres rubbed her temple. "Now we've not got only one to protect but two." This was no longer a plate of troubles but an entire buffet.
"Really now," the wind chuckled as it slowly swirled into the shape of a man. "I've only come to take what is mine," it said as it caressed the Equines side.
Natalia gave a final whicker before she was instantly calm.
"Why? Why? Why must you say she is yours?" Ceres' voice trembled and tears began to flow freely. "I did not break purposely break the bond so why forcefully repair it."
"Because I need it to exist- just as much as this child will," the island said as one of his hands moved to the belly of the horse.
Natalia hadn't exactly put the two and two together that he was referring to the strange sensation with in her and not her herself.
"Beast!" Ceres screeched. "You sick horrible...." Her fists tightened. She was so furious that words just spilled from her- only half could be made out. She was giving no one room to speak.

Keeta still hadn't figured out that the equine was Natalia. In all the confusion, and supposed danger, she just assumed Natalia was somewhere safe, like they were trying to keep her. Perhaps she was with one of Ceres' "sisters."
Nervously she watched the being as he approached the equine. Clearly he was not human if he could materialize like that....so who was he? Cassara hadn't exactly been clear in her snide answer. And why did she need protecting from him. She watched in confusion as Ceres exploded at him in rage.

"Silence Maiden," the voice did not come from him but all around them. He raised his hand sending a gush of strong wind at Ceres. It knocked her a good ways back and into a tree.
Ceres crumpled to the ground like a rag doll- quickly realizing her place She was aging faster that a normal human and she hardly realized this with the exception of her magic and this moment. "I just want my daughter," she whimpered.
Rhine roared and whipped his tail around. The worst it did was hit Cassara for the figure just '********," Cassara hissed. "Watched it you'll not only hurt Ayisha but Natalia..." She snorted. "Seriously. I'd think you having balls would mean you'd have some sense and temper control."
"Shut up!" Perian growled. "Not the time- not the place."
The wind chuckled. The island was patient and found the squabbles amusing.

"Ceres!" Keeta rushed over to her, heedless of the danger there might be to herself. Her head turned when she heard Rhine roar, but she didn't change her direction. She tried to help the aging woman up, worried what the blow might have done to her...not just on the outside.
Keeta was confused. Why were they talking about possibly hurting Natalia? She wasn't here was she? Or did this immaterial being have her somewhere?
"Ceres..." she said very quietly, but with urgency in her voice as her head turned this way and that, seeking the owner of the directionless voice. "I can't help if I don't know what's going on. Who is this creature? Is Natalia in danger? Please...."

"This," Ceres scooped up a hand full of dirt, "is the creature." Every inch of her hurt to breath. She let the dirt fall through her fingers. "It takes what it wants by what ever means necessary."
"I could take you," the wind whispered as it swirled around Keeta. It wanted to prove a point- to put fear into her. "A bit spunky but surely a decent b***h when it comes to bred."
Rhine wanted to tear through the tree but had to control himself knowing it was his sister. "Stay away from her!" He roared.
"Calm yourself brother," Cassara hissed. "He's just being a typical male a**." It was harder on her than most realized. She'd been in this type of situation once already.

The Island.... Keeta felt a shiver go through her. Ceres had mentioned the island was alive before, but never had she encountered him. And now he surrounded her. She took a few shuddering breaths and huddled herself protectively around Ceres. Her mouth remained closed. She would not give him the satisfaction of a reply, but her heart beat rapidly, wondering what he would do.

The Island chuckled and moved back towards Natalia. "I find all of this amusing. So much so that I'll continue to watch. I'm positive that you cannot undo what has been done and when the child is born I'll come again..." It wrapped itself around Keeta and Ceres one more time before fading.
Ceres held her sides as she let out a sigh of relief. "Keeta take your mirror, touch that equine and your husband, and just go... I'll be right behind you......"

"But Ceres...." Keeta bit her lip and looked at her friend and mother-in-law. She want to go to her husband, but he was fine for now. She was worried about Ceres' well being after taking that knocking around.
"Why can't I take you first? You're hurt...."

"My life is of little importance if you don't get that Equine out of here," Ceres said as she took another deep breath. "I'm fine," she lied.
"Do as she asks and go before the island changes his mind," Tinker being one of the more logical of the family hoped that her pleading might make more sense than the others. "We've risked to much to loose her now."

"But who is she?" Keeta asked as she rose with a sigh. She looked at Ceres reluctantly, before starting to walk over to the beautiful blue creature.
"Why all this trouble for one equine? What does the Island want with her?"
