Quote: Kalama giggled and nodded her head. "Being quiet is still sometimes challenging to me... especially with a cub sometimes following me around." Her tail flicked as she watched the female for a moment. "Now, we need to work on timing." She looked around for something that the female could try and capture... a bug would do. "See that grasshopper over there? Try and catch it." It was a bit boring, yes, but she needed to practice with something a bit easier than a mouse or rabbit.

manda A bug...? That was worse than a mouse! At least a mouse she could probably eat. Oh well... she supposed there was a point to it. After all, Kalama was teaching her own cub to hunt as well. And she had never learned these things, so maybe it was best to start at the beginning.
Eyeing the grasshopper, Auri crouched down a little bit again and started moving through the grass toward it. She was careful to pay attention and keep quiet... but just as she jumped toward the bug, the tiny creature hopped away. Oh .... now what did she do wrong?

Quote: The female leopard seemed to have the same reaction her daughter did when she told her daughter to go practice with a few bugs. Both had the same luck with catching the grasshopper the first time. Hopefully the leopardess would be faster than her daughter at learning how to catch the bug.
"Your timing was off," Kalama began to explain. "You got to close to the grasshopper and should have pounced sooner." Her tail flicked as she watched the other female who seemed to be learning how to hunt so much faster than her daughter was learning.

manda Auri blinked once, and then thought back ... and nodded quickly. "I see... thank you," she replied with a quick smile. Looking around, she found another bug and slowly stalked that one for a few moments. Then she paused a little bit farther away .... and this time managed to pin the grasshopper beneath one paw. "I got it!"

Quote: Kalama thought for a moment about all the parts of hunting. It seemed the female knew what to do now. All she had to do was go out and practice on different animals. With a smile she nodded her head. "Now you just need to practice. Start with the small and work your way up." Kalama tilted her head for a moment then smiled. "Anything else you need to know?"

manda Auri thought about that for a moment and then shook her head. "If I just need to practice... I can do that on my own. Thank you for your help!" she said with a quick smile. Then she paused, and tilted her head a bit. "If there's anything I can ever do for you in return, just let me know?"

Quote: Kalama shook her head at the female leopard's offer. "I am glad to help and I don't think I need anything." Her tail flicked and she turned towards a couple of bushes that began to shake. "I should be going so I can help my daughter learn how to hunt. Good luck to you and if you ever need a place to stay or need help, I will always be around here somewhere."
