"It is not rude if one does not wish to share their story. I am not trying to force you to tell me your story, therefore if you do not fell like telling me then you do not have to." She replied smartly. She didn't miss the slight change in his stance. She shook her head a bit. "Are you always this way? Or are you in a particularly snippy mood?"
Asking another question was not what she had in mind, but she just couldn't help it. In a way she hoped her constant questions would aggravate the stallion. She had a knack for doing such things.

Snippy? He was being snippy? Lorcan was taken by surprise at this remark. He did not think he was being snippy, in any way. Childish, yes, and most certainly a little rude. But snippy... well that just seemed a little to far.
"Am I always what way? Because you cannot tell me I am being snippy. A little short, perhaps, but I am fairly certain I have done the utmost to be civil with you, Faerin." He was sure to add in her name to make a point that he had not simply dismissed her early on and forgotten her name "I may have seemed a little... busy earlier but You would to, if you had concerns about where to sleep tonight." He explained, his tone slightly annoyed, and with the barest hint of anger seeping in. He wasn't angry, yet. But flavoring his words with the tone would, he thought, bring them out a little stronger.

Faerin snorted slightly. "Well perhaps snippy was not the right word to use. Don't get my wrong you seem like a nice stallion, but you do seem to get a little rushed and rude every so often." She said calmly. "If you were looking for important information about shelter for the night why not just come out and say it. That whole beating around the bush thing gets you no where fast."
"Now let us just put this little spat behind us and move on." She continued after a moment of silence. "Is there anything else you need to know? Outside of your need for finding good shelter?"

Did he look like a yearling or something? He barely held back an annoyed snort. He'd show her rushed and rude and beating around the bush... Now, now, Lorcan, he reminded himself, your suppose to be friendly. And not fly off the kick a poor random mare for sounding as if she thinks she's your mother. He shook out his head and calmed himself.
"Well I am sorry you seem to think I was being rude, and rushed. I find it more pleasant, and less rude, to attempt pleasant conversation to gain information, rather then simply shoving my problems in the face of another and telling them to solve it for me. Your the first mare I've met who seems to think otherwise." He did everything in his power to keep his tone even, calm, and even a bit light. Though he was sure parts may have come across as a bit mocking. But really, he couldn't help that. Plus she seemed a little sensitive and that wasn't his fault.
"I will agree. It seems we have gotten off on the wrong hoof." Vary, vary wrong hoof, indeed. "I do not think anything is really needed, other then shelter. You've already informed me of water, of the fact that you know of no other interesting tid bits hidden in the trees, and that I should steer clear of the jealous stallion and his mares. Is there any other information you care to give?" He asked.

Faerin kept her face neutral as the stallion spoke, even though deep down she was getting quite annoyed with him. Why did he get under her skin this way? She had encountered only a few horses that could irritate her thus far.
She shook out her mane and thought quickly. Was there anything else she wanted to tell him? If she didn't hate being rude she might just tell him where to go, but she wished to avoid that at all costs. "No, I cannot think of anything else that is of importance to tell you." It was true, she had given him all the information she had about this particular area, so there was really nothing left to say. "I can only say that I wish you luck in your pursuit of shelter and food."

"Thank you." He said sincerely. "How long have you been in this land, would you say?" He offered a pleasant sounding question. "I myself have just arrived. Going for a nice run and ended up here, actually. Not exactly the best reasoning for ending up in a new land, away from home. But its the truth." He shrugged his shoulders a bit.
"So what about you?" He tilted his head. A light breeze tossed his mane slightly and he glanced to the side to watch it flutter in the wind. His eyes turned back to the mare. She really seemed to test him, mentally. Perhaps it was because it seemed everything she tried to say came across as if she was speaking to a foal. And he was most certainly not a foal!

Faerin stomped her foot as she thought back, how long had she been here? It hadn't been too long since she arrived, after all she still was getting used to the area. "Well, I have been here a few months now." She told him. "I had decided to leave my homeland and my herd to wander for a bit. When I ended up here I choose to stay."
While she did miss her family, she did think that it was the best decision she had made. Surely she could always go back, but that wasn't an option right now. There was still much more to see and do here. But one day, perhaps, she would return to them and tell them of her adventures.

"I'm sure your family thought that was a lovely idea." Lorcan mused. Weather he meant that sarcastically, as in he was sure her family missed her, or rather literally, as in he was sure no one could miss the bossy mare...well that would be up to the mare's own interpretation as his tone gave nothing away.
"That seems like a decent time. And you came alone?" His eyes swept around them. She was alone now, but of course that did not mean she had come alone. Perhaps she had had a friend, at one point, who had left, or they had been separated. All was possible. "I had some offers of company on my run but really, that defeats the purpose of a lone run, don't you think?" He looked at her again.

"Yes, I'm sure they were absolutely thrilled with my decision." She said a bit sarcastically. Her Dam she knew would have been upset by it, especially since she left in the middle of the night so they wouldn't stop her. But her Sire likely didn't care at all. They hadn't gotten along in the past so he was probably happy to see her go.
"Yes I traveled alone. That way I wasn't slowed down by others." She told him after a few moments. Her head bobbed slightly. "Indeed traveling with others would defeat the purpose of a lone run. So what are you plans now?"

Lorcan thought for a few moments. What were his plans now? Lets see... find shelter. Check. Find food. Check. Make contact with another living being... He looked Faerin over. Check. Hmmm...
"Well to be honest, I am not so sure. He admitted. "I suppose to find out if this place would be suitable for a long term home, find a herd to be a part of or a lone mare who wouldn't mind a free sort of life. If all goes well I do hope to have a location set up to call home, and from there... well like I said. Either a herd would be nice, or a mare to warm up those cold nights." his tone changed slightly, and his rather plain expression morphed into a slightly cheesy grin. "I jest of course." not really, he added mentally. "And what are your plans?" He questioned.

Faerin listened to him talk about his plans of what to do now that he had found himself here. They were what she figured he would say. She raised her eyebrow slightly at the change in his tone of voice mixed with what he said and the look on his face. She could only hope he was joking. "Indeed." She said.
What was she going to do with herself. When she had left her herd she only sought out the freedom that she was denied there. Now she had that freedom, so tying herself down to a herd didn't really make much sense right now. "Well I honestly don't really have any set plans. Right now I am enjoying my freedom. Perhaps soon I will look for a something, maybe a herd, though not right now."

The liver chesnut stallion couldn't help it. He laughed a bit at the mare's remark. "As I said, I jest. Don't get your tail in a bunch." He assured her. Really did he look like a some pervert. He paused. He was a lone, young, stallion... yeah, he did. He sighed mentally. Oh well, let her think what she will. He can't stop someone's thoughts.
He blinked. Freedom... yeah herds didn't give alot of freedom, unless you were in a really loose herd. "I take it your previous home was not a vary... relaxed setting?" He paused to think of the right word. Relaxed... His home had been rather lax. There was a few stallions who lead the herd. For the most part, everyone did what they did and just relied on each other for help or food. Not the best system, but it worked.

Faerin didn't even want to keep thinking about whether he was joking or not, even though he said he was. Time to move on. Oh yes, her old her, what a perfect thing to distract her from his possibly flirting.
"Well as a matter of fact yes, my previous herd was not very relaxed. My father was somewhat of a tyrant in his ways. I don't think he cared for me much since he so desperately wanted a son." She paused for a moment thinking back to the time when she lived among the herd. "In fact most of the herd was like him. Very narrow minded. Except my mother. She was a bit of a free spirit."

"Ah, the classic story of a little princess, alone in the world in the herd who wishes for freedom, so she runs away." he said, after listening to her little tale. "We had quite a few of your kind show up from time to time, when I was younger. Some were snobby, some unruly, others a bit like yourself. You sure don't look like a herd leaders daughter, though." He paused to look her over. No she did not. But, he thought, she did act like a few of the ones he'd seen. Refined. She wasn't some wild child, that's for sure. But the other, he noted, sure had to be tough, if she had gone this long alone.
"I have to say, I have some respect for you, Faerin. This long, without a herd, stallion, or even another mare for company or protection." He stepped back and did a little bow. "You don't look it, but you must be one tough cookie. No mare from my home would survive this long alone." Which was true. While they were not weak, they were what, in his mind, was a proper mare. They relied on each other, at the least, for support and protection. To go alone was suicide in their minds. This grey mare was most certainly an oddity from his perspective. Of course, oddities made life interesting, after all.

Faerin couldn't help but let out a small laugh at the little princess comment. She was not, nor ever had been a princess, and never missed to be either. "Well that's one way of looking at it." She remarked.
Her ear swiveled a bit at what he did next. Did he just say that he respected her. Well wasn't that a bit odd. "I am stronger than I look." She told him. It was true, but be alone for so long took alot of strength. It was tough at times, but she had endured. "Luckily I have my wits about me and have learned to survive without needing the protection of company of a herd." Although she did long for it some days.
