"Waaaatari!!! Don't pick on me!" Tsuzuki whined, making sad eyes. "It really wasn't my fault! Hisoka made me stay up late the night before doing...um...research!" he blushed, obviously lying about what had actually gone on that kept him up. Quickly trying to move on with the conversation, he added, "So where do ya wanna go? Cinnabon? Marta's Pastry Corner? Kyu Kyu Cake Shop? Doctor Pepper's Dessertery?"

"You? Research?" Watari asked, folding his arms over his chest as the two walked. "The day I see you crack open a book, Tsuzuki-chan, is the day I stop trying to spike the morning break-room coffee." he replied with a knowing and mischievous smirk. He shook his head, blond curls curling around his neck at the humidity in the air. Apparently there had been a bit of a rainstorm not long ago. "Actually, there's a brand new pastry shop only two blocks over called 'Antique'. I passed by it on my last case here." the scientist was smiling now as he lead the way. "I heard they have terrific cakes and delicious coffee as well. I'm rather in the mood for both."

"Antique? That sounds really nice!" his eyes lit up. "Hey! We really were doing research though! What else would we have been up all night over?" Tsuzuki really was clueless, thinking that didn't just plain sound like something was up. He stared at Watari as if he expected something from him. Some sort of concession, perhaps, that Tsuzuki was telling the truth. His purple eyes were large and pleading.

Hisoka threw the file across the room in anger. How could he fail like that!? He went all the way there to get a Shikigami, and he came back empty handed. Now the blond was still powerless. Sure he had his physic abilities, but those we're only good when he was angry, not when he needed them the most. Though what really didn't help was that Tsuzuki didn't understand his anger, thinking he was mad at him for some reason, when he was more mad at himself for his failure and taking it out on the older Shimigami.

One golden eyebrow arched as Watari stared at the elder shinigami for a long moment. "You really are clueless, you know?" he asked before opening the door to the bakery and holding it open for Tsuzuki. "You may be telling the truth about researching... but I'm more convinced that you were getting in bon's way at the time. Besides... he'll eventually come around. The kid can't blame you for falling asleep forever." It was true... They'd all been tired since returning back from their most recent cases.

Micheal materialized to one side of a small park. He was dressed in a dark jacket with an old army cap hiding the parts of his body he couldn't will out of existance. Those namely being a pair of dark slightly curved horns that poked out the sides of his head and pointed ears. Shoulder spines were covered by his jacket, but unless someone actually touched them they were well hidden. He picked a table at a small coffee shop and purchased a mocha before picking a table for himself and looking around at the humans almost as if he was searching for someone.
"Otori used to love this place." He murmured to himself as he nursed the coffee. "How long has it been, I wonder? One century, two? Are you still living here?"

"I'm not clueless!" he pouted. "And how would I have been in Hisoka-kun's way?" he really was clueless. He walked into the bakery and the smell of the pastry, cake, and pie made his eyes sparkle and his mouth water.
"Ohhhhhhhhh!!! I wanna try it all!!!!" he squealed.

Watari laughed, shaking his head. "Iie! I'm treating you to lunch here, but you know as well as I do that I don't get paid enough to even begin to let you try EVERYTHING." the scientist smiled before sitting down at a nearby table. He picked up a menu from the table and started looking through it. Of course, amber eyes also tended to glance over the top of said menu, studying the elder shinigami across from him. 'No, Tsuzuki... you're not clueless.' he thought to himself, knowing perhaps better than anyone else, that the amethyst-eyed shinigami was always more aware than he let on. It was a defense mechanism, and one that Watari knew well. He used it himself, after all.

He was pouring over the menu as soon as he got his hands on it, before he had even taken a seat. "Hai, hai! I know...but you can always bring me here another time, ne?" he said as he sat, sticking his tongue out playfully at his co-worker. Mumbling the names of all the desserts to himself, he could tell Watari was looking at him over his menu. "Mmmm....Tiramisu!" he exclaimed, the thought of Watari tasting like butterscotch crossing his mind. What w very, very odd thought, but he let it flit away almost immediately, forgotten.

(((OOC: That is quite the odd thought... *thinks* I think he'd taste more like caramel, myself.)))
~ ~ ~
"Tiramisu?" the scientist asked before setting his own menu down. A few moments later, a rather well dressed young man came to take their order. Smiling at him, Watari began to order. "I'll have the Cinnamon, Pumpkin, Chocolate Struesal with a Caramel Mocha Latte." glancing at Tsuzuki he ordered the other shinigami's desert, "My co-worker wants the Tiramisu... and..." he left his sentence unfinished, because Tsuzuki hadn't suggested what he wanted to drink yet.

"...and a caramel mocha latte as well, please!" he finished for the blond. The waiter walked away after smiling and complimenting their choices. "Oi, you don't have to call me a co-worker! We're friends, right?" he beamed. He couldn't help thinking though, how much he missed Hisoka, though having the scientist's company was a very welcome change.

Smiling, the scientist nodded, "That's true. Though TECHNICALLY this is our lunch hour so at the moment we're actually co-workers... it's on Meifu's dime, after all." Watari teased, crossing one leg over the other as he sat. "So, aside from Bon being angry with you, what else has been happening? I mean... how's he doing? After the whole shikigami incident?"

Smile now replaced by a frown, Tsuzuki was almost hesitant to speak. "Well...I dunno." his eyes began to dart. "I think he's ok. He's always angry with me over something. He doesn't talk a lot, which is normal. I...I think he's tired of being my partner." He could already feel the tears welling up at the thought. Tatsumi, now Hisoka...and of course he always had to fall in love with his partner, which only made the rejection so much harder. That was why he was hoping to withdraw from Hisoka though, to avoid the pain. Hopefully he could find a distraction. Anything would do. Changing the subject as quickly as he could manage, he reached across the table, taking Watari by the hand. "Sayyyy...Yu-ta-ka." he sing-songed, feining childishness, "Would you like to come over tonight, maybe? I'd like some company."

Micheal finished his mocha, enjoying every drop of it. Finally when the cup he held was no longer even warm he got to his feet. He hadn't seen anyone that even remotely resembled his lost Otori. With a sigh the demon cracked his knuckles and stood up. There was nothing even remotely human in his smile as he grabbed a young man by the front of his shirt. "Time to have a little fun." He bared his pointed teeth at the startled human and lifted him easily off his feet. "You, Where is Otori?" The mortal looked at him with a suddenly pale face. "It's a simple question, human. Have you seen a man with wings or no?" A stiff wind whipped up at this inoppurtune moment and ripped the hat off the top of his head showing all too clearly the pair of lightly furred pointed ears and a short pair of horns curving from his head. "N-n-no." The man stuttered in fear. "Tchah. Worthless." The demon tossed his first victim aside and ran lightly after the already panicy crowd of people.
"Otori if you are here come out to play!" He rather doubted that he would get any answer and he wasn't out to cause anyone serious harm. . yet.
((OOC I could provide character info for Otori if needed. I'm just making the good guys come to me. Cause I'm a lazy demon))

One blond eyebrow arched as he looked at Tsuzuki's hand on his own hand. "Why do I have the feeling that this is somehow a setup?" he asked before laughing. "Hai hai. I'll come by... PROVIDED, you let me cook." the scientist smirked. He had wanted to tell Tsuzuki that Hisoka wasn't tired of him... had wanted to let the older shinigami know that he was appreciated, by everyone, and by Hisoka perhaps most of all. Bon needed time... that was it. Time to adjust to knowing that he had helped caused a sudden closure of the shikigami realm... and time to deal with his own failure. Neither Watari nor Tatsumi had revealed their case involving Hisoka's father however. Both figured that it wasn't really the appropriate time, after all.
Of course... it was about that time when Watari heard someone outside scream. The Antique cafe had a few tables just outside the door... and as amber eyes caught sight of a panicked crowd of people dashing this way and that, Watari extracted his hand from Tsuzuki's and stood up. "Looks like lunch may have to wait..." he spoke, standing near the window now and looking out. 'Demon?!' the engineer's mind screamed and he glanced at Tsuzuki. "Come on. We need to stop that demon before he starts actually killing people." Watari spoke before dashing out the front door. It didn't take him more than a few seconds to suddenly come up behind the seemingly rampaging male demon, an ofuda in his hands, which he quickly slapped onto the being's back. He jumped to the side, making sure to avoid any sudden attack from the demon, before folding his hands in front of him and softly speaking the words of release for the containment spell. Of course Tsuzuki had always been stronger at such things... but it wasn't Watari's disposition to not try when he could. His spiritual powers were always put to more... practical matters than Tsuzuki's near brute force, after all.
